    I'm going to show you how you can use a cheap sewing machine to make all of your clothes fit perfectly on you!
    Sewing machines are intimidating for most guys, but they don't have to be. They are intimidating because they can do a lot of different things. But you just want to make your baggy un-fitted clothes from Target, H&M, and other retailers and make them fit great on you right? Because of that you only need to learn like 3 settings.

    Screw this just for being guys. This is hella useful and the most professional sewing channel I have found that doesn't feel like an mlm. I appreciate that you show how to use a modern sewing machine but some folk *cough* Me, have an antique. A 15-91 so you should include reading the manual for your specific machine cuz some do not show you how to thread it lol

    Stylish D! I got a sewing machine from a friend's grandma (she was surprised to see a "young" person want to use it (I'm 33! Not that young anymore!)) and I fixed a bed sheet that ripped last week. Straight stitch/zig zag stitch and boom! Fully functional again. That's like $70 in savings for one sheet. Crazy! And you are right, highly addictive. Can't wait to do some simple projects for my shirts. Wife is very impressed too, so bonus points.

    Great summary of the sewing process. I'm at the office wearing a polo shirt and chino pants that I tailored and both fit great. The one problem with tailoring all your clothes in your closet is that it's impossible to put on a non fitting article of clothing and be happy with it. I found a dress shirt that I hadn't tailored yesterday and I put it on and I thought there's no way I can wear this. I did wear it but I know what's going to happen to it in the next few days!! Keep the vids coming. MD out!

      Dude I TOTALLY hear you on that! I have a white button down that wasn't tailored, and I wore it to work one day thinking it wouldn't be that bad. I felt uncomfortable as heck ALL DAY!

    I'm not a dude, so I'm not your target audience lol
    But I feel like you've been the best at explaining how to make stuff 'cause you assume your audience is starting absolutely from scratch! So even though the tailoring recommendations aren't applicable to me, I'm picking up a lot of the technical stuff that other sewing content I would watch just skip over.

    Great breadown SD, basically 110% of the info someone needs to get started sewing TODAY! As a side note, you actually can adjust the flat fell inseam on some jeans with a domestic, you just need to undo the outseam and then hand fold the flatfell, press it and sew it one stitch at a time, then resew your outseam. It's not a ton of fun.
    I've got a dual needle double chain stitch sew off the arm machine for this very reason. probably better to just hem the outseam as you suggest. lol

    As an amateur, I’ve come a long way. My best advice is get a heavy duty sewing machine right off the bat. I got a basic singer to start. Spent most of my time messing with the Bobbet. Everything took forever to finish. Had it repaired once and was told the machine was not meant for thicker material. Since the heavy duty, which wasn’t that much more, I cruise through basic sewing projects. Good luck 👍🏽

      The trick is to reinforce the sleeves from the INSIDE, so you don't see them. Simplest way to do THAT - fusible interfacing. You cut the oval shaped patch, and iron it over the elbow when it's inside out. DONE.

    I absolutely love your channel and your style. However, increasingly your videos are just repeating themselves. Some more detail and step-by-step instructions would be helpful. I could use a lot more help on sewing through the armpit area of a shirt or changing up the sleeves. I'm also struggling a bit on how loose or tight to make pants. And can you avoid that knee protrusion that happened on all my chinos when I tapered the calves (that spot on your pants where the knee is that sticks out like crazy when your leg is straight). There're so many finer points you could cover but haven't yet. Critique aside you have been a big inspiration. Keep tailoring those clothes!

    • @StylishDTailors
      @StylishDTailors  4 года назад +1

      Hey thanks for the kind words! Just out of curiosity where have I repeated myself? My last few videos were more creative than anything I've ever done with the chinos to shorts video and my long sleeve to short sleeve button down shirt. Also my sewing machine tutorial is only the 3rd sewing machine tutorial video that I've ever made out of the 100+ videos on my channel. Most of the comments that I get are related to me not talking about my machine enough, and talking too much about the project itself.
      Also, recreating content is kind of a must on RUclips as getting new viewers every single day means most of them have no idea that I've made some of the content that I have. I like to binge watch peoples back catalouge, but most people don't. So that's why you see repeats sometimes.

      @nmoddentity8401 4 года назад

      @@StylishDTailors I guess what I'd love to see as a loyal (and shall I say somewhat addicted) subscriber is more videos on really detailed topics. Some ideas:
      - how to get the right measurements for your body
      - how to tailor different materials/ fabrics
      - how to remove a seam safely
      - using colored thread to add style
      - tailoring a shirt that's "slim fit" already
      - too tight or just right?
      -arm hole issues
      -sewing machine maintenance
      The last sewing machine tutorial you did was 2 months ago and actually was much more detailed than this latest one. I'd sat the more detail you can provide the better. I find a lot of times your videos give the the inspiration but not the information so I have to search more RUclips channels to find the details I need.
      Hope that helps. I'm in no way criticizing. Just offering my own thoughts on what I'd love to see from your channel.

    • @StylishDTailors
      @StylishDTailors  4 года назад

      COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from man, totally. The problem is I have to listen to my analytics, they're telling me what's working and what's not. You're ideas are AWESOME, but some of them I've either done before or I know wouldn't do too well because not a lot of people would be interested in them. Go sort my videos from most views, those are the topics that work.
      - I already made a video on how to get your measurements, but want to remake that one as well. It's the summer t-shirt fit guide video.
      - I made that video too, it was my seam ripper video, which also needs to be redone because it's soo cringey.
      - That...is a really awesome idea, thank you for that one lol.
      - Not a bad idea BUT people aren't searching for how to make a slim fit shirt more slim fit, they wanna know how to make a baggy one slim fit. Or how to shorten a t-shirt.
      - I've touched on this in a few videos, but a full on one isn't a bad idea at all, keep an eye out for that one.
      - I made that video too, it was the "the most annoying problem with dress shirts" video. It's about how to get the proper arm holes on your shirt.
      - Maintenance is definitely a good idea as well, but people need to know how to use it before they can maintain it. How to use a sewing machine has a lot more traffic than how to maintain it. BUT it's still an awesome idea that I will definitely consider doing. The video I made two months ago was WAY too fast, sure fast tutorials are good but go look at the top search results for how to use a sewing machine, None of them are less than 15 minutes long. People don't want fast and funny all the time, sometimes they just want substance and detail. That's what I focus on now.
      I hope none of this came off as harsh, because it wasn't supposed to at all. I COMPLETELY agree with you, I mean go look at my old videos. They're awful. I sit on a couch TELLING you what to do, not actually SHOWING you. That's the problem and that's why I'm redoing a lot of those old videos. The idea is to prevent you from having to go look somewhere else, which is exactly what you've had to do. If YOU ever have personal tailoring problems just shoot me a message on IG man, I'm totally down to help you out!
