As someone who played a Druid healer in WoW, managing timers isn't the problem, it's the lack of ability to customize the HUD to make it easier to do so. If i could actually have my 4 ability timers surrounding my reticle it would make it so much easier to deal with.
Well nothing easier as managing timers in this game to be honest, unlike wow you dont need keep tracking much things or mechanics allday long :D also you can make your hud bigger if that helps you and honestly if you like to play octavia its okay to just look at timers and ignore the rest of the game for most parts.
Ah Octavia, a perfect example of a kit that not only is good in isolation, but actively synergizes with each other, she always has been, and unless some very severe nerfs or changes happen, will be incredible Though as a side note: metronome buffs aren't actually to the beat of the song you use, but to the Melody of the song; performing a relevant action on the note timing is what triggers, you can have a full percussion line but only a single melody note and will get nothing unless you land on that one note (which does feel really off but I understand it's supposed to be linked to that instrument line)
the one thing i dislike is the way buffing is done cool concept but it does not work well i like music in real life i dont drum my fingers to the melody counter intuitive
@@andyderp6473 Late reply, but the UI for making your song tells you which areas are for which abilities. Metronome is the important one for buffs, and mallet is the damage.
They will probably never nerf her _directly_ because she just isn't really that dominant nor problematic. Not many people play her, and those that do tend to stick to playing Solo (simply because other players tend to make Mallet less effective by drawing aggro away from it). What DE _have_ done, and likely will continue to do, is indirectly nerf her by introducing mechanics/content that she can't as easily cheese. For example... Eidolons are completely unaffected by her Mallet. Anything with Blast resistance is immune to her Mallet. They changed enemy Necramechs so that they are immune to Mallet until their arms are destroyed. Archons are barely hurt by Mallet to the point where it would probably take well over an hour to kill them with Mallet. Basically, DE have slowly tuned the content against Octavia cheese rather than nerfing her directly, which I think is a good approach.
The big thing that balances Octavia is that like Nidus, Saryn, or harrow, if your team mates are doing their job, you have a hard time really making your kit do anything.
Octavia is so powerful that she removes the need to bring weapons to most content. She actually out-competes basic components of Warframe in favor of finding a corner and pressing 1, 3, 4, and ctrl. Sometimes criticism and sometimes compliment depending on my mood.
I think Octavia is fun for the first 5-10 minutes of a mission where you’re listening to the song and jammin out with guys that jam so hard they die. (The enemies) I think if they made it to where you could change the song mid match, it would make her so much for entertaining.
I remember posting on reddit that I had E1M1 from some other player and to hit me up ingame in case anyone wanted it and you hit me up and I was mildly starstruck so glad to see that you're still using it haha
Really like the build refreshes, I only started a few months ago so it’s great seeing updated builds with all the current options instead of just release builds.
Love how Octavia can be played in many ways. This way only works if the enemy is allowed to hit your mallet, but you can always just be invisible and shoot stuff in the face which get you the shoot people in the face better buff. Or equip a melee weapon which will get the melee better buff. You can also be a nice guy and stand by your ally who don't wanna move much, Mesa comes to mind, and press 4 near them. Just like that, they deal way more dmg and you are not even in the way of them cus you are invisible. :D I do prefer to have higher duration tho. Makes her less spam heavy on the ability side not that she can't but easier for you and your team.
Fun fact about Octavia's roller ball. A change you missed when it happened, is that when the roller ball *by itself* turns off enemy AI. The roller ball when it picks up the mallet increases the threat priority of the mallet to one of the highest it can be - so if you're standing next to your mallet on roller ball while visible, the enemies will shoot the mallet on roller ball instead of picking between you and the mallet.
And if you want to drop a slot (cause you can literally just put duration and range on her and be fine in 99% of content tbh) and add the resonator augment so you can put it where you want, it makes sure it stays in one spot :)
octavia's passive is why i use her as my starting point for spectres. as a spectre, she casts metronome every 20 seconds, which lasts 20 seconds, and which gives the base-level buffs for each pattern, including stealth (only downside is it uses the default beat, so rapid tapping doesn't quite work perfectly), and it gives the energy buff. amp doesn't detect sound well, and the base mallet and resolator are nothing to write home about, however, they do still work well enough that even in steel path, i can leave her alone to guard interception points.
Octavia is one of my favorite frames. Kinda makes me sad that so few people play her. Definitely the frame i switch to when I want to farm, but also eat a sandwich
Nightmare frames tries to be chill, and it works but only because of his video format and audio choice. Yflin is chill in a way that gives you what you were looking for without much emotion, hype or selling of the ideas. Brosime is the type of chill that any manager dreams they could be - knows what he’s talking about, tells it in a cool headed and straight forward way, and is chill without even using tools like editing and music to his advantage; dude literally records his streams and it’s already good to be a video with no adjusting required.
Mesa and Octavia are interesting in the discussion of player behavior in games. Despite both of them being extraordinarily overpowered and near invincible, people willingly play other frames that are only a fraction as powerful.

I use octavia so uch that I don't think about crouching. It just happens when I play. The downside is that when I use other warframes and activate their 3, I automatically crouch without thinking about it. It became a permanent habit lmao
Reminds me of when universal passive were added to the game. People thought Loki's seemed a little meh compared to the rest of his kit. In actuality it was perfectly in theme with the rest of his kit. Turns out wall latching for absurdly long stretches of time actually breaks the AI of melee enemies.
@@TheTankyCrowbar Because I mean it literally breaks their AI, invisibility doesn't do that. I think they might have fixed it now. But wall latching for 20s while melee enemies were aggro'd to you would literally stop them from being able to path correctly. There used to be all kinds of hilarious exploits you could do with that. It wasn't just the ones already spawned either, other enemies that spawned would also be broken. It seemed like around 1/3 of the maps AI just turned off and did Bethesda nonsense.
i enjoy her for the music aspect though she is almost criminally under used I'm not saying go be afk and cheese or be a nuisance but she's absolutely fine i mainly use her as a main not to cheese but to help the newer players a lot of them ask for help and she's good at just ensuring they won't die but maybe that's just me lol
Well, I don't think people forgot about Octavia. I think most players didn't know she existed until her primed variant was released. Normal variant was released so long ago and was such a pain in the ass to get. Most people never got her. Even now most players won't realize they're holding onto the Queen of Do everything. I mean, some of the puzzles requires team mates. Who also want to help you and know how to help you. Team mates, desire to help, and knowledge to do so... you don't find that on Normal Star chart.

Not sure if it was changed, but you can actually trigger her passive when you go into tenno form. So if you need energy you can just hit 5 twice and start regenerating energy for free.
The biggest error of these videos is that they don't include a look at the appearance tab, because while it's important to be an efficient destroyer of enemies, it's also important to look good while doing it!
Octavia is awesome for new players. Get to grow, build, understand, without the pain of being in a literal universe of info and concepts. You go there, get some rewards, and go trough the path. If want to go faster, or sronger with other frame, you have build a mental path to resist the info overload this game offers XD
I miss when Mallet worked on Necramechs in iso vaults. It was a great thing to play a - for me - more fragile frame to then just be able to let necramechs murder themselves.
I've started maining Octavia and she's amazing I just wish she didn't require so much duration to feel comfortable and that the songs could change during a mission or be actual songs. I have found the DOOM song to be the best and it's not too annoying to listen to over and over.
Yo have i got some good advice for yall! This is one of the best warframes to do the grendel part missions solo (since no one wants to do no mod gameplay). Essentially it comes down to her passive gives you just enough energy to recast mallet just as it runs out and mallet does its broken ass stuff as usual. Ive actually done it twice for the helminth ability and neither time have i struggled with it
As an octavia main, conductor is funny like they now actively sprint to the malet cause of resonator and being able to move it anywhere is great. Also her 4 buffs dps for her 1 and doubles range on it and without her 2 enemies tend to run up to you when shooting (shooting is fun but optional). I've taken her to basically every bit of content and she just works as a top pick.
19:50 hear me out. Just put the timers above the ammo pool, that or give her a Titania/Vauban/Ivara UI element to keep the timers separated. Not function as in swapping the buff, i mean as in purely showing the timers and names once refreshed.
Octavia has been my favorite frame since she was released, I can use her on everything and never feel like I'm losing cause I brought a bad frame, some do things better, but she is almost always pretty high on the totem regardless
Apart from being boring to play, which I don't consider much because "fun" is 100% subjective, I think the main reason that Octavia isn't popular is because of her restrictive caveats. 1. Mallet has uncapped aoe damage but it's a reactive ability that needs time to build up. While other damage frames like Mesa, Saryn or Ember just press one button and nuke the room immediately. 2. Metronome grants many buffs but you need to perform specific actions that must be in sync with the beats. While other buff frames, like Wisp or Rhino easily grant the buffs right away. That's how I find myself to not play Octavia as frequent as I should despite how ridiculously powerful she is. Octavia is like a Swiss army knife: she has good tools for everything. However, most people don't use Swiss army knifes in their daily lives. We rather use the tools made to do one specific task effectively and easily. I want to do big damage; Octavia has great damage but Mesa and Saryn can commit war crimes nonchalantly. I want to go fast; Octavia can be very fast but Wukong and Titania are faster. I want to play a support; Octavia can grants many strong buffs but Wisp exists. Octavia can do everything and is good at them. However, there are frames who are better than her without any caveats. And most players would play those frames rather than play her.
Love octavia. So glad she's underplayed. She and Wisp are two of the only frames I can stand to play because they're both less bitch-slapped by DE's fetish for anti-Ability bullshit. Wisp can just refresh buffs with motes placed somewhere, and Octavia's mallet pops null bubbles and her passive helps.
There's plenty of songs that you can copy that don't sound horrible and still let you get buffs at will. Notable ones I use are Counting Stars and FF7. She's been one of my favorite frames for years. I had 2 builds on her base, and when her prime came out I hybridized them into my perfect Umbral Octavia build.
6:40 the thing is, I like a lot of "bad" passives. I like Rhino's passive because its just cool, I like atlas' passive for the same reason. Certainly free energy is mechanically better than many passives, but honestly, I would hate a version of the game where you could switch a warframe's passive for another.

I personally dont often play octavia, just because shes too stronk. Playing her is too easy and can get boring fast, you dont need any weapons and most times not even move. If i wanted a mission to just play itself, i would... uuuuuh... play octavia... theres honestly not even a comparison, she can only be compared to herself. :'D
I witnessed something interesting in region were someone had an externally modded mandachord song that had the volume of the notes beyond the volume and note limit the game allows. It makes everyone leave the game lol. Even if you turn off the volume in settings it still plays. It's terrible for everyone with headphones.
Octavia is my default because she is just so good. I think another reason people dont play her is, honestly, her vanilla skin is pretty ugly. But her deluxe makes for a great Void Angel look. Not that it matters since she should be invisible 99% of the time anyway. Really the only times I play other frames is if I'm 1) leveling them, 2) need to be tanky instead of invisible, 3) doing Spy for quick melee leveling so playing Ivara. That's really it. That being said, I'm mainly a solo player so it's not like I'm competing for kills.

I personaly use her as my main, i enjoy playing her coz she murders everything. But she dies fast if she gets touched, becareful with fire dgm but then just go to your operator 😎💪 and launch the Zenurik school skills and ur skills are up 98,99% of the time if u pay attention 💪🥳 high up time, high energy cost, full range of around 80m total thats my kinda build 😎💪
Octavia prime had a 2.78% use rate in 2021 making Octavia prime the 12th most used Warframe across all MR. She was used more than inaros prime, nehza prime, and gauss in 2021. That is not rare at all.
Tbh you could infuse dispensary, make an AHK macro and just win defense while doing nothing but spamming zenurik bubbles, and even that can be automated
Pretty sure people play her just in solo because of the target priority on mallet, wish they would make the 2 and 1 combo work a bit better so she could be used more in public squads but still probably the best solo frame
Personally, I think it's better to add one more D polarity where Augur Secrets is, Secrets will still fit despite the wrong polarity, but you can keep Umbral intensify if you want to slot in Narrow Minded, so you dont have tank str as much.
Yeah I already play games all the time I'm not trying to catch a repetitive strain injury between spamming melee or dual toxocyst adding more spam ain't a good plan.
in a hypothetical situation where she gets nerfed i wonder what would be considered reasonable nerfs without making her useless? replacing invis with a passive heal like the armour maybe? giving mallet a few second damage phase where any and all damage it takes from enemies and players alike is how much damage itll do for the duration instead of infinite scaling for the full duration?
Octavia is not an S - rating because no one wants to play her, but she's the most powerful and most useful frame? So if everyone played Octavia then she would be an S rating? This seems to fly in the face of Tier ratings in general and makes suggestions rather sus. Who cares what everyone thinks is either good or not? I do get that DE decides to nerf stuff because it's popular which seems problematic so maybe it is a good thing that no one thinks she's fun to play. Don't get me wrong. I do like this idea and build. I have been looking for more of a weapons platform-type active build for her. I may try this one and another one that subsumes off her 1 instead of her 2. Oh, and your suggestion for DE to allow us to modify the buff bar location is awesome. That would be nice for all frames, and the whole UI actually. Most games have this. Thanks for the Refresh.

Honestly i just prefer to straight up remove her mallet cus i find it really limiting to her kit(if u have a good aoe weapon her is pretty useless since why not just use ur weapons to kill). Instead i use ensnare on her 1 to mainly lockdown acolytes and i just use her for her insane cc and her invis and i build 200% str on her so that her amp can buff my weapons super hard.
Octavia for me is way more fun to play with a song where you actually have to perform actions to the beat as DE intended, the song that lets you spam flashes way too much to be tolerable
The best way to balance something absurdly strong: make it so boring to play that nobody uses it.

Instead of using energize you could also use molt efficiency (the duration one) in the steel path build for more duration.

Not sure if it was changed, but you can actually trigger her passive when you go into tenno form. So if you need energy you can just hit 5 twice and start regenerating energy for free.
They fixed that a long time ago.

Octavia is awesome for new players. Get to grow, build, understand, without the pain of being in a literal universe of info and concepts. You go there, get some rewards, and go trough the path. If want to go faster, or sronger with other frame, you have build a mental path to resist the info overload this game offers XD
I miss when Mallet worked on Necramechs in iso vaults. It was a great thing to play a - for me - more fragile frame to then just be able to let necramechs murder themselves.

I've started maining Octavia and she's amazing I just wish she didn't require so much duration to feel comfortable and that the songs could change during a mission or be actual songs. I have found the DOOM song to be the best and it's not too annoying to listen to over and over.
Yo have i got some good advice for yall! This is one of the best warframes to do the grendel part missions solo (since no one wants to do no mod gameplay). Essentially it comes down to her passive gives you just enough energy to recast mallet just as it runs out and mallet does its broken ass stuff as usual. Ive actually done it twice for the helminth ability and neither time have i struggled with it
As an octavia main, conductor is funny like they now actively sprint to the malet cause of resonator and being able to move it anywhere is great. Also her 4 buffs dps for her 1 and doubles range on it and without her 2 enemies tend to run up to you when shooting (shooting is fun but optional). I've taken her to basically every bit of content and she just works as a top pick.
19:50 hear me out. Just put the timers above the ammo pool, that or give her a Titania/Vauban/Ivara UI element to keep the timers separated. Not function as in swapping the buff, i mean as in purely showing the timers and names once refreshed.
It's not just them either, tons of frames have unique HUD elements. Really feel like Octavia is missing a feature at this point because of that

Octavia has been my favorite frame since she was released, I can use her on everything and never feel like I'm losing cause I brought a bad frame, some do things better, but she is almost always pretty high on the totem regardless

Apart from being boring to play, which I don't consider much because "fun" is 100% subjective, I think the main reason that Octavia isn't popular is because of her restrictive caveats.
1. Mallet has uncapped aoe damage but it's a reactive ability that needs time to build up. While other damage frames like Mesa, Saryn or Ember just press one button and nuke the room immediately.
2. Metronome grants many buffs but you need to perform specific actions that must be in sync with the beats. While other buff frames, like Wisp or Rhino easily grant the buffs right away.
That's how I find myself to not play Octavia as frequent as I should despite how ridiculously powerful she is. Octavia is like a Swiss army knife: she has good tools for everything. However, most people don't use Swiss army knifes in their daily lives. We rather use the tools made to do one specific task effectively and easily.
I want to do big damage; Octavia has great damage but Mesa and Saryn can commit war crimes nonchalantly.
I want to go fast; Octavia can be very fast but Wukong and Titania are faster.
I want to play a support; Octavia can grants many strong buffs but Wisp exists.
Octavia can do everything and is good at them. However, there are frames who are better than her without any caveats. And most players would play those frames rather than play her.
Xaku's noble animation is fantastic and underrated
Love octavia. So glad she's underplayed. She and Wisp are two of the only frames I can stand to play because they're both less bitch-slapped by DE's fetish for anti-Ability bullshit. Wisp can just refresh buffs with motes placed somewhere, and Octavia's mallet pops null bubbles and her passive helps.

There's plenty of songs that you can copy that don't sound horrible and still let you get buffs at will.
Notable ones I use are Counting Stars and FF7.
She's been one of my favorite frames for years. I had 2 builds on her base, and when her prime came out I hybridized them into my perfect Umbral Octavia build.

6:40 the thing is, I like a lot of "bad" passives. I like Rhino's passive because its just cool, I like atlas' passive for the same reason. Certainly free energy is mechanically better than many passives, but honestly, I would hate a version of the game where you could switch a warframe's passive for another.

I personally dont often play octavia, just because shes too stronk. Playing her is too easy and can get boring fast, you dont need any weapons and most times not even move. If i wanted a mission to just play itself, i would... uuuuuh... play octavia... theres honestly not even a comparison, she can only be compared to herself. :'D
I witnessed something interesting in region were someone had an externally modded mandachord song that had the volume of the notes beyond the volume and note limit the game allows. It makes everyone leave the game lol. Even if you turn off the volume in settings it still plays. It's terrible for everyone with headphones.
Octavia is my default because she is just so good. I think another reason people dont play her is, honestly, her vanilla skin is pretty ugly. But her deluxe makes for a great Void Angel look. Not that it matters since she should be invisible 99% of the time anyway.
Really the only times I play other frames is if I'm 1) leveling them, 2) need to be tanky instead of invisible, 3) doing Spy for quick melee leveling so playing Ivara. That's really it. That being said, I'm mainly a solo player so it's not like I'm competing for kills.

But she dies fast if she gets touched, becareful with fire dgm but then just go to your operator 😎💪 and launch the Zenurik school skills and ur skills are up 98,99% of the time if u pay attention 💪🥳 high up time, high energy cost, full range of around 80m total thats my kinda build 😎💪

Octavia prime had a 2.78% use rate in 2021 making Octavia prime the 12th most used Warframe across all MR. She was used more than inaros prime, nehza prime, and gauss in 2021. That is not rare at all.
Tbh you could infuse dispensary, make an AHK macro and just win defense while doing nothing but spamming zenurik bubbles, and even that can be automated

Pretty sure people play her just in solo because of the target priority on mallet, wish they would make the 2 and 1 combo work a bit better so she could be used more in public squads but still probably the best solo frame

Personally, I think it's better to add one more D polarity where Augur Secrets is, Secrets will still fit despite the wrong polarity, but you can keep Umbral intensify if you want to slot in Narrow Minded, so you dont have tank str as much.
Yeah I already play games all the time I'm not trying to catch a repetitive strain injury between spamming melee or dual toxocyst adding more spam ain't a good plan.

Octavia is not an S - rating because no one wants to play her, but she's the most powerful and most useful frame? So if everyone played Octavia then she would be an S rating? This seems to fly in the face of Tier ratings in general and makes suggestions rather sus. Who cares what everyone thinks is either good or not? I do get that DE decides to nerf stuff because it's popular which seems problematic so maybe it is a good thing that no one thinks she's fun to play. Don't get me wrong. I do like this idea and build. I have been looking for more of a weapons platform-type active build for her. I may try this one and another one that subsumes off her 1 instead of her 2. Oh, and your suggestion for DE to allow us to modify the buff bar location is awesome. That would be nice for all frames, and the whole UI actually. Most games have this. Thanks for the Refresh.

so long as there are notes on the mandachord it will work, but if you want to turn off the music, just do it in settings. There is a slider specifically for her

Honestly i just prefer to straight up remove her mallet cus i find it really limiting to her kit(if u have a good aoe weapon her is pretty useless since why not just use ur weapons to kill). Instead i use ensnare on her 1 to mainly lockdown acolytes and i just use her for her insane cc and her invis and i build 200% str on her so that her amp can buff my weapons super hard.
