Yeah. Honestly, I thought parasitic armor or something could work on caliban. I was able to even get him to like 50k ehp. But he still died so fast on steel path that it was like he didnt exist. but gloom makes him really hard to kill. It's so good, but man these frames suck.
It always amazes me when nobody points out that her dispensary drops ammo omniboxes that refill every type of weapon INCLUDING ARCHGUNS! I use a heavily formad Mausolon as my primary when I play her, or a fluctus to shoot through terain her Blaze Artillery gets blocked by. Even the Corvus Prime becomes a formidable primary once you don't have to worry about the small ammo pool anymore.
"Don't use her too much, we don't want her to be on a radar" You can have her as long as the same is done for Zephyr when her refresh comes along, let's enjoy these powerhouses whilst no one is using them
Love her so much. Couldn't put her down since I got her. That being said, I prefer using the CC suck operator ability (forget what it's called) and subsuming Roar instead.
Frames with shield regen abilities or shieldgate upgrades prove the point we should just get longer gate with higher shield maximums by default so the key isnt such a necessity on everything else with a shield.
If you dont have arcane energize but you do have the plat for some cheapish mods: my build focuses on spamming the turrets and basically what you do is use blind rage, overextended and narrow minded to get a bunch of every stat while tanking efficiency. Then you run equilibrium and a robot companion (cannot recommend moas enough for this since theres a mod you can get for them that massively increases their overshield cap which the shield satellite will charge to making it functionally unkillable) with the synth mod set to always pickup health orbs dropped by dispensery so that you get infinite energy, while you can also put the hunter mods on the companion weapon to get those enhanced crits for your primary. This whole setup is very specific but i find it lets you deal with pretty much any content in the game, including steel path and void cascade, this warframe is actually as good as brozime is saying she is haha 😄
I gotta demand some respect be put on Protea's 4. There's an argument for replacing it, but her 4 makes you wholly invincible with intelligent play and has a TON of fun niche uses you probably haven't considered. When you use her 4, you have given yourself an extra life. The next time that you would die, you simply refuse and instead go back to when you were perfectly fine, with a moment of invincibility to get going again. There are also i-frames associated with the initial cast. Use 4, place a dispensary, place an extra set of shield grenades to rewind into, and go about your business with reckless abandon. When you get 'killed', you rewind back into a small stockpile of energy and health orbs and immediately pick up a shield grenade to restore your 3 second shield gate, and have a second or so of invincibility to orient yourself and get back to shooting. It also 'screenshots' more than you would think, including what I think is the most fun part in the form of her combo. You can build an x12 combo, use her ult, spend the combo on a heavy attack, and immediately activate it to explode for a buncha damage and get your x12 combo back immediately. Fun with the glaive, fun with the stropha, good times all 'round.
The problem with the 4th ability is while it is extremely powerful, it's more annoying than anything. It has a long cast time, it's expensive in terms of energy, and if you forget to cancel the ability before the timer is up then it drags your character backwards for a few seconds and back to wherever you started the ability.
There's also the armour strip augment. Shit is insane. Free energy, free revive if dead, no energy cost assuming ur not doing an exterminate mission. U can even rewind earlier than the duration. Gloom might just be better for higher sp. But the 4 is great
Honestly my favourite part about Protea is how her subsume slot is so thematically and mechanically out of place with the rest of her kit that it already feels like a subsumed ability. Like, I feel weird putting Gloom on Yareli. On Protea? Well it's not like it fits any worse than what she's got so screw it.
@@MarcelJ17 agreed. For anything below Lv 100+ or Steel Path, Tesla Bank is an excellent passive CC and damage source that also adds another element for condition overload and gun CO. Even above lv100, the extra elemental proc and stun still are really good, and since the damage is based on damage dealt to the attached enemy it still scales somewhat, though armor scales faster.
I didn't forma for Primed Sure Footed and Opted to run Uniaru Focus School for the Poise Passive. Popping in and out of operator is nice and easy and leaves the exilus open for more utility
My favorite frame. I love writing songs for her, love her look, and love that you can still play the game even if you don’t *need* to. She has, however, literally killed the LB on 4 of my controllers
you forgot about Equilibrium( replaces Arcane Energize) which converts health orbs to energy vice versa and than that can run Aegis and grace or any other arcane Plus if you didn't know Blaze Turret Procs headshot damage
Well here's the problem with equilibrium, your health needs take a hit to benefit from the extra energy health orbs give. You don't want your shields to get that low, it's counterintuitive as she possesses overshields at a moments notice
@@moon5472 your health doesn’t need to take a hit if you put any synth mods on your companion (you should do that using equilibrium anyways because one of those synth mods generates more health orbs for you)
Protea is also my favorite frame. I use a possibly unintended synergy between a weapon and a subsume on her that I'm not going to mention out of fear of it getting patched, but all I can say is that I can't wait for her deluxe skin and eventual prime.
Out of curiosity, why Larva over Airburst? I know it was The Meta when she came out, but then the nerf to Larva happened and the Airburst functionality got added. Airburst now has a succ that pulls enemies into a ball almost as well as Larva does without a horribly nerfed radius, it can be recasted however much you want, its manacost is better, its cast time is better, it doesn't require a Nidus to subsume (and iirc has better Helminth food requirements)... getting down to more minor stuff, it's also an instantaneous and therefore nondispellable effect, and it has a panic "get out of my personal space" button attached if you wanna remember it exists.
It's a risky build considering you can down yourself with it, but hear me out - from left to right, top to bottom. Combat Discipline, Primed Sure Footed, Primed Continuity, Stretch, Rolling Guard, Primed Flow, Umbral Intensify, Overextended, Archon Vitality, Equilibrium. Molt Efficiency and Molt Augmented. Combat Discipline makes Equilibrium actually work and ultimately we get more energy, more consistently. Rolling guard for being comfy. No augur mods, as some people say they turn the 3 seconds of shield gating to the standard 1.33 seconds - and I'm pretty sure it's true. Helminth Gloom on top of the 4th ability.
Here is some things i want to point out: 1. since her 2 is so reliant on enemies numbers a grouping set up is useless on say...exter or capture. anything that can have u in a situation where there are less than 10 enemies at once. so instead of grouping maybe try tharros strike that remove all defence so u dont have to rely too heavily on enemies numbers. 2. toxin bypass her shield gate unlike with hildryn so dont rely on it in infested and corrupted maps 3. her passive is meh u need to use skill 3 times be4 u can get the buff which reset everytime so no QoL there. Not on the same league with say...garuda's seperate multiplier, voruna cc immunity, caliban built in 50 adaptation, hildryn anti toxin shield gating to just name a few top passive 4. her 3 is ok but its so immobile like i have to sit there to get stuff instead of being on the go so u feel the negative impact more on fast missions 5. has no anti cc protection 6. her 2 is like xaku's guns but immobile meaning its over the moment an enemy get out of sight and theres no way to reposition the turret so u end up taking out a new one with no stacks 7. not a single movement skill so slow af in fast missions but this is fine as many frames also rely on operator to go fast 8. her 4 is kinda useless but we already subsumed that off so its fine
My favorite thing about Protea is that she keeps my sentinel alive forever. It's just a shame that the one frame that can guarantee that for me better than any other is also the one that doesn't need Death Cube's energy generation, nor Helios Prime's Melee stat stick. Let's be honest, who the hell is doing melee on Protea?

Its about the feeling of being in a powerful frame. If one frame is op like protea, they should leave it like that and rather look how to make other frames as good. And also rather than nerfing frames they should make harder content. So the power of frames can really shine

After getting her free. I fell in love. I don't even need weapons. Can get over 1k sheild on demand. Alot of fun if you like using abilities. Don't have those arcanes so I've been using .molt vigor
Hey you should try Equilibrium on her. I run Protea with negative efficiency (to maximize duration and then strength) and even without Arcane Energize I have zero energy economy issues. It should be noted this works with Necramechs and Railjacks too so you can easily spam their abilities.
Only problem with coil horizon is duration. With Larva, it keeps them in a ball and lets the turret build up damage. With coil horizon, it drops them after a second, which makes it worse but not bad. Go with it if it’s what you like my dude 👍🏼

A tip about energy for Protea if you don't have Energize. Use equelibrium. The health orbs from Dispensary give 100 HP which means that with equelibrium with two from the top you get 90 energy per health orb. Might be helpful for some of you
have you tried airburst instead of larva? it still pulls the enemies tight enough for her 2, except you dont have to wait for it to be over to cast another so you can have your 2 hitting grouped enemies in multiple locations!
ah i think he underestimates the width of the turrets, they have quite a wide hitbox so they will still hit all the enemies and punch through them even with airburst over larva.
Honestly I like Xaku's turrets more. They (the frame not the guns) have full armor/shield strip innately, and the turrets have a long duration with their kit as well. Now that we have more options for power strength, newer Xaku builds can be a lot less thirsty than they were before (though I use Spectrosiphon until I rebuild them with molt augmented). Plus, you can be a skellington.
i use a duration and strength bluid on her with 79% range and 250+% duration and 260+% strength so with the new 45% strength arcane and her passive a 400% powerstrength for full armour and shieldstrip with pillage
Nah see all you need if you don't have energize is Death Cube. Since she can keep the little guy alive forever through the aggro he pulls, he can just shit out energy for you CONSTANTLY. I recommend Sweeper Prime with as much range, multishot, and inaccuracy as possible, because all he needs to do is tag enemies to generate you energy

I like and run Protea a lot, I just wish DE would fix the fan grenade bug where the grenades get stuck above her head, and make her 4's damage collection reliable, her 4 would be a okay nuke if it did what it says on the tin.
I run molt on her with the regen mod. Even with 130 strength for non primer mods she’s setting a clone and hearing more than Oberon does with his heal.
It's not hate. There's just no reason to subsume literally any other ability on most Warframes because of the sheer utility Gloom has, especially now that Unairu has the easiest armor and shield strip in the game.
Also, after little bit of testing, I think I prefer a bit more duration and a bit less range on the gloom side, just replaced Augur Reach with Constitution. Thinking of Molt Efficiency too instead of Grace
Need to change title to Protea needs helps or something and spend the first minute saying she's no longer viable or she's underwhelming or non relevant so that DE can appropriately ignore her like Frost and Hydroid.
It's a little sad how people have been conditioned to either panic or sigh in frustration at the realization that a frame / weapon is amazingly OP, because they know a nerf might be coming if it gets too popular.
The release state of mesa ash and trinity would be completely absurdly op in any game. They straight up made balance blunders form the start of the game. And they don't know how to nerf monkey cause hes overused as fuck and Nothing happens
@@635574 The only effective nerf to monkey is a delete button. So long as he is at all survivable and fast he will continue to be the brainless farm frame of choice for most people. There's very little most people use him for that has any mechanical complexity so nerfs have to hit his core character traits...at which point he wouldn't be Wukong anymore

Imo if the clone was time limited and the heal wasn't so fucking fast there would be actual strategy to using him. that is why devs that actually care about balance nerf massive outliers, in Elder Ring it was the mimic tear. but it still has more hp than you because its a boss fight game where specter that dies fast is kinda useless.
not that ANYONE cares but iirc tracer's ult is a little sticky grenade bomb that's an insta kill if you get caught in the small radius. her rewind is just a fuckin ability and doesn't have a cast at the beginning she just goes back some amount and that's why it's useful. because it's the get out of any bad situation free card
I heard that shield gate from brief respite and augur mods messed with her innate shield gating from her fans and overrode the extra time you got. Was this incorrect or you just dont care or was it out dated as the video is about a year old. This is my favorite frame by a mile and ive never used anything but her innate gating since that video
I’m pretty sure that’s just incorrect, i don’t see why it would “override” anything because her grenades just give the extra shield gate when they break. If you were to cast an ability while in the invincibility, then get your shield insta broken, i guess it COULD override, but that’s not super likely, and if you were to cast an ability it would probably be grenade anyways.
Prefer Vauban's tesla balls, they seek out anything that is hiding or anyway from her and just shock the crap out of everything. Protea is a nontank tank.
larva feels bugged, Im using it wrong or de nerfed the hell out of it. says 14 seconds of duration but in practice its like .9 seconds. waiting on airburst, that is a great ability to pull/push enemies and farm. hopefully its passable.
I think the reason people hate when you include gloom so much is because at this rate it’s gonna get mega nerfed and all the builds you made with it will be instantly outdated.
Brozime, Have you considered Gyre's new helminth as a replacement for Larva? It has a larger base range than larva 12m instead of 8, and shlorps as well as doing a bit of damage.
I've been using coil horizon on my protea, and it definitely does the business. Suits her kit the most as well, just seems like another gadget/nade that she throws. Once you get used to the usability, its actually a ridiculously good CC.
protea is like a no brainer frame. the ultimate is useless. all she needs is range and strength and some duration. this is how I play and it works for me. just throw the despenser neer you, then hold 1 to get the shields then keep spamming 1 and 2 for damage and CC.
Okay cool that's similar to my build I use 235 range and 194 duration with 123 strength(before tho i traded sum range for duration, i had 265 rng with 179 dur)

Gloom is great on sortie defense too. Free heals for the target. Just remember to take your gun back so he doesn't run off and get mobbed.

Protea has been my favorite since she came out. Before her was Mesa, who had that title since they changed exalted weapons to be fully modable.

You want something good that works with her thematically? Tesla Nervos with the Tesla Bank augment or Horizon Coil.

Started maining Protea back when Deimos came out. Never looked back

Her shield grenades even attach to excavators, because why not? Best frame.
The shield grenades heal objectives too you can literally shield gate a defense objective
Here is some things i want to point out:
1. since her 2 is so reliant on enemies numbers a grouping set up is useless on say...exter or capture. anything that can have u in a situation where there are less than 10 enemies at once. so instead of grouping maybe try tharros strike that remove all defence so u dont have to rely too heavily on enemies numbers.
2. toxin bypass her shield gate unlike with hildryn so dont rely on it in infested and corrupted maps
3. her passive is meh u need to use skill 3 times be4 u can get the buff which reset everytime so no QoL there. Not on the same league with say...garuda's seperate multiplier, voruna cc immunity, caliban built in 50 adaptation, hildryn anti toxin shield gating to just name a few top passive
4. her 3 is ok but its so immobile like i have to sit there to get stuff instead of being on the go so u feel the negative impact more on fast missions
5. has no anti cc protection
6. her 2 is like xaku's guns but immobile meaning its over the moment an enemy get out of sight and theres no way to reposition the turret so u end up taking out a new one with no stacks
7. not a single movement skill so slow af in fast missions but this is fine as many frames also rely on operator to go fast
8. her 4 is kinda useless but we already subsumed that off so its fine
just to let anyone new to know somethings u need to take into consideration when playing her
My favorite thing about Protea is that she keeps my sentinel alive forever. It's just a shame that the one frame that can guarantee that for me better than any other is also the one that doesn't need Death Cube's energy generation, nor Helios Prime's Melee stat stick. Let's be honest, who the hell is doing melee on Protea?
Helios being a melee stat-stick got nerfed/"fixed", so...
Exodia hunt on a zaw hammer with her can be pretty useful with her.

@@penisboss5976 your sentinels can still get killed by random explosions while invisible, though. It's a problem if you play multiplayer, which I normally do
Its about the feeling of being in a powerful frame. If one frame is op like protea, they should leave it like that and rather look how to make other frames as good.
And also rather than nerfing frames they should make harder content. So the power of frames can really shine

Knowing DE they'll give her shield grenades a limit so it only ticks for 50 shields ever 1.5 seconds and then wipe their hands of a fun frame
It's a little redundant but I run a smaller range and big duration with pillage. Helps the turrets do more damage and cleans status
After getting her free. I fell in love. I don't even need weapons. Can get over 1k sheild on demand. Alot of fun if you like using abilities. Don't have those arcanes so I've been using .molt vigor
Hey you should try Equilibrium on her. I run Protea with negative efficiency (to maximize duration and then strength) and even without Arcane Energize I have zero energy economy issues. It should be noted this works with Necramechs and Railjacks too so you can easily spam their abilities.
mind linking a build? i dont have energize and so I'm kinda bottlenecked by energy
@@Sasha-jo4tw Just put equilibrium on her, some duration and strength and you'll be fine. She has a ton of flexibility in how you build her.

I just subsumed Coil Horizon on her for the thematic synergy.
Only problem with coil horizon is duration. With Larva, it keeps them in a ball and lets the turret build up damage. With coil horizon, it drops them after a second, which makes it worse but not bad. Go with it if it’s what you like my dude 👍🏼

A tip about energy for Protea if you don't have Energize. Use equelibrium. The health orbs from Dispensary give 100 HP which means that with equelibrium with two from the top you get 90 energy per health orb. Might be helpful for some of you

have you tried airburst instead of larva? it still pulls the enemies tight enough for her 2, except you dont have to wait for it to be over to cast another so you can have your 2 hitting grouped enemies in multiple locations!
ah i think he underestimates the width of the turrets, they have quite a wide hitbox so they will still hit all the enemies and punch through them even with airburst over larva.
Honestly I like Xaku's turrets more. They (the frame not the guns) have full armor/shield strip innately, and the turrets have a long duration with their kit as well. Now that we have more options for power strength, newer Xaku builds can be a lot less thirsty than they were before (though I use Spectrosiphon until I rebuild them with molt augmented). Plus, you can be a skellington.

I spec'd mine out to have very high duration to make the turret last about 7.5 seconds and I use Probo Cernos for grouping
Did DE fix the Augur Mods and Brief Respite killing the 2 seconds shield gating buff of Protea's 1?
i use a duration and strength bluid on her with 79% range and 250+% duration and 260+% strength so with the new 45% strength arcane and her passive a 400% powerstrength for full armour and shieldstrip with pillage
But why so low range tho because I can't bring myself to have such low range and people have been saying don't use augur mods

Nah see all you need if you don't have energize is Death Cube. Since she can keep the little guy alive forever through the aggro he pulls, he can just shit out energy for you CONSTANTLY. I recommend Sweeper Prime with as much range, multishot, and inaccuracy as possible, because all he needs to do is tag enemies to generate you energy

you should try pillage, get her to 300% strength and boom 100% defense strip. her abilities will clear just about anything after the strip.
You mean 300 modded strength + her passive? Because if her passive is already in the 300%, that won’t be a full strip

Also using the secondary arcane Cascadia flare increases heat damage for the turrets as well
The turrets activate it but do not benefit from Cascadia Flare. Only the secondary that CF is equipped on benefits from it.

I think he does. He's replaced augur secrets with 2 strength archon shards and put archon Vitality in that mod slot if memory serves
I like and run Protea a lot, I just wish DE would fix the fan grenade bug where the grenades get stuck above her head, and make her 4's damage collection reliable, her 4 would be a okay nuke if it did what it says on the tin.
Protea doesn't need gloom at all tbh, I stay alive quite easily with rolling guard and shield grenade
I run molt on her with the regen mod. Even with 130 strength for non primer mods she’s setting a clone and hearing more than Oberon does with his heal.

It's not hate. There's just no reason to subsume literally any other ability on most Warframes because of the sheer utility Gloom has, especially now that Unairu has the easiest armor and shield strip in the game.

Consume Styanax. Put said ability on Protea's 4. Enjoy the carnage.

Also, after little bit of testing, I think I prefer a bit more duration and a bit less range on the gloom side, just replaced Augur Reach with Constitution. Thinking of Molt Efficiency too instead of Grace
Need to change title to Protea needs helps or something and spend the first minute saying she's no longer viable or she's underwhelming or non relevant so that DE can appropriately ignore her like Frost and Hydroid.
It's a little sad how people have been conditioned to either panic or sigh in frustration at the realization that a frame / weapon is amazingly OP, because they know a nerf might be coming if it gets too popular.
The release state of mesa ash and trinity would be completely absurdly op in any game. They straight up made balance blunders form the start of the game. And they don't know how to nerf monkey cause hes overused as fuck and Nothing happens
@@635574 The only effective nerf to monkey is a delete button. So long as he is at all survivable and fast he will continue to be the brainless farm frame of choice for most people. There's very little most people use him for that has any mechanical complexity so nerfs have to hit his core character traits...at which point he wouldn't be Wukong anymore
@@chaosgyro if we just count the fast and durable, then gauss would also be a problem, but he is hard to farm. Monkey is the meta afk frame and literally nothing beyond dojo required. Imo if the clone was time limited and the heal wasn't so fucking fast there would be actual strategy to using him. that is why devs that actually care about balance nerf massive outliers, in Elder Ring it was the mimic tear. but it still has more hp than you because its a boss fight game where specter that dies fast is kinda useless.
As good as Protea is, she's not going to overtake monkey man because his power is to give the players a second Kuva Bramma/Zarr.

not that ANYONE cares but iirc tracer's ult is a little sticky grenade bomb that's an insta kill if you get caught in the small radius. her rewind is just a fuckin ability and doesn't have a cast at the beginning she just goes back some amount and that's why it's useful. because it's the get out of any bad situation free card

It works fantastically and the hitbox for her Blaze Artillery is big enough that you can still get ludicrously high multipliers.

I heard that shield gate from brief respite and augur mods messed with her innate shield gating from her fans and overrode the extra time you got. Was this incorrect or you just dont care or was it out dated as the video is about a year old. This is my favorite frame by a mile and ive never used anything but her innate gating since that video
I’m pretty sure that’s just incorrect, i don’t see why it would “override” anything because her grenades just give the extra shield gate when they break.
If you were to cast an ability while in the invincibility, then get your shield insta broken, i guess it COULD override, but that’s not super likely, and if you were to cast an ability it would probably be grenade anyways.

Prefer Vauban's tesla balls, they seek out anything that is hiding or anyway from her and just shock the crap out of everything.

Haven't tried Gloom on Protea, but I have Breach Surge on her and it's pretty nice.
larva feels bugged, Im using it wrong or de nerfed the hell out of it. says 14 seconds of duration but in practice its like .9 seconds. waiting on airburst, that is a great ability to pull/push enemies and farm. hopefully its passable.
im confused, is molt augmented a permament 60% after 250 kills or does it reset on ability cast?

I think the reason people hate when you include gloom so much is because at this rate it’s gonna get mega nerfed and all the builds you made with it will be instantly outdated.

Brozime, Have you considered Gyre's new helminth as a replacement for Larva? It has a larger base range than larva 12m instead of 8, and shlorps as well as doing a bit of damage.

I've been using coil horizon on my protea, and it definitely does the business. Suits her kit the most as well, just seems like another gadget/nade that she throws. Once you get used to the usability, its actually a ridiculously good CC.

I find the radars more useful for non-steel missions don't really need more damage. Also sometimes I'll run golden instinct on he as well

protea is like a no brainer frame. the ultimate is useless. all she needs is range and strength and some duration. this is how I play and it works for me. just throw the despenser neer you, then hold 1 to get the shields then keep spamming 1 and 2 for damage and CC.
Okay cool that's similar to my build I use 235 range and 194 duration with 123 strength(before tho i traded sum range for duration, i had 265 rng with 179 dur)
@@NGFRIZZ yeah!! I think I got my build a little out of order, I have like range and duration to the most it can go with out effecting the strength. just make sure the strength does not go below 100.

mag pull and the turrets doesnt affect behind u so u can still get your back blasted if u arent paying enough attention

It can be really good. It just requires building, and playing, around it which is a far cry from the "chill" setups Broz favors.
