The sheer level of skill to do all of this is almost beyond imagination. I do a lot of stuff...woodworking, carpentry, welding, small engine repair, etc. I can do a lot, and I'm absolutely in awe of your talent. Restoring that ceased, rusted, flooded, barnacle infested engine is so impressive I almost can't believe it's real. Then, you weld up a new drive shaft and rudder. Then you do new panel work. Then you make a fiberglass shell. Then you put a finish on it in your back yard, but it looks like it just rolled out of a professional paint shop. I'm almost at a loss for words. This is just incredible.
Do not believe everything your eyes tell you. If i was making this video, i would show the barnacle infested engine, work on it a little - then use one that was already rebuilt 😉
My jaw dropped several times watching this. The intricacy of the gears, springs, seals, etc., and all salvaged and reassembled is something you may never see again to that level.

Me and a couple of buddies have been a team for a few years, we work together, build together, create things, waste money etc lol but all of us have been watching this build the last couple of months. This was one of the most meticulous and well done jobs any of us have seen on RUclips. Your consistency, effort, dexterity and attention to detail was all very well done. Keep it up🤙looking forward to seeing the next build
Not sure why RUclips put this in my watch list but I am extremely impressed. The engine rebuild, the overall finish looked amazing. Certainly would not have expected to see that good of a result from the start. Well do e
Absolutely amazing ! The world needs more people like you, not the throw away society people currently dominating the world. Your imagination, skills and ingeniousity are at a very high level !
Absolutely beautiful! It’s awesome that he’s bringing these beat up boats back to life. I live in homestead Florida, 20 mins from Miami, unfortunately in some of the more rural areas people abandoned old boats, jet skis and dump trash. I always thought it would be cool to salvage one. Now every time I see one I think of this man and his extraordinary skills
This is one of the most impressive restorative builds I have ever seen, goodness you did a heck of a job! 90 days almost seems too short for the amount of improvements you made. Great work.
I have never seen someone with so many multiple skills. I would not wonder, if there was a motor restauration specialist, different ship specialist, mechanics, electricians and other specialists involved. But doing this all alone? What a talented man he is, what a genius and knowledge this man has. Brilliant!
And here I am patting myself on the back for cleaning the rust off of my wrenches. Absolutely incredible job - that motor restoration was mind blowing. Kudos!
Wow that was incredible!! Here in North America we usually just throw stuff out when it's broken but you gave that old junk new life. I feel like we could all learn something from you. You have my respect sir!
Life in VN is like that. No hardware stores. No spared part to rebuild anything. You have to find the junk somewhere and modify it. My father did it at a low level, compared to this guy.
In a single word: Amazing !! If this man had lived in Sweden, I would have been more than happy to hire him as Chief Designer, also in charge of finances. In this eminent video, he has not only demonstrated his skill, but also an extraordinary patience. I wish him all the best in the future, and that he will always be this happy, like when he took his first ride with his own creation. All glory to him.
Mr. Ho reminds me that there are still people with the abilities of Henry Ford and the Wright Brothers, who are naturally mechanically and can take the roughest parts and remake them into something wonderful. I was in Vietnam in the 60's, and it is so good to see someone like him thriving.
This dude is a Jedi Master. Everything done with precision. I loved when he made his own gasket, I was stunned. And the Welding, nicely done. Working with fiberglass was the icing on the cake. Master mechanic and craftsman. You are awesome Sir. 👌 P.S. James Bond you have found your new Q.
When we escaped from Vietnam in 1979, my dad and his 4 persons team put together an engine from 4 junkyard small engines (it was illegal to own anything privately at the time) and put it on an 18 meters wooden boat that helped sailing us 284 people out to East China Sea in search for freedom. Our boat spent 7 days at sea and finally reached Indonesia water. That engine was still functioning like new.
Thank you for posting this video. I was paralysed waist down for 15 years but after watching this video you gave me the courage to stand up and threw myself out of the window. Appreciated. Great. 🙏
I'm at a loss for words. Reusing the old rings, head gasket, & oil filter. It just blew me away that engine didn't smoke and ran that good. Nice boat. Good job.
Your vision and ideas and then putting them into action, should be inspiration to all: freedom brings out the best of people to go from thought to action. In America, we call that ‘Living the Dream. Thanks for sharing your ideas in action 😅.
This guy is absolutely freaking insane especially the motor work literally any one other than this guy would take 1 good look at that thing and assume it’s been sitting at the bottom of a lake for 6 month and wouldn’t even want it for scrap I’ll say it again this guy is absolutely insane and a straight up legend
It's a remarkable rebuild, yes. I don't see any... _yacht._ I do see something approximately a quarter the displacement of what I'd call a medium-size cabin-cruiser.
OK... Now I'm impressed.... Bringing back that motor was one hell of an accomplishment. Almost anyone else would have taken one look at that thing and thrown it in the scrap pile. Legendary.
Sir, I don't know who you are and what you're all about, but you have earned my respect. You are a master builder--a one-man boat maker of immense talent, skill, and perseverance! I have never sat through an entire build like this. I was completely transfixed! No blueprints, no bs--just a lot of patience and measuring and more patience! And the end product is well worth it! Amazing little speedboat, sir, and for that, you have earned my sub! Keep building, and we'll keep watching!
The range of skills and the resourcefulness required by this build/renovation/creation-of-value is beyond anything I have seen and certainly challenges every notion I have of how generalised and specialised someone can be at the same time. Let's recap, he showed prowess as an electrician, mechanist, machinist, surface finisher, fibre glass master, welder, architect, and more. It is pretty funny growing up in the west rebuilding stuff spending money on new parts when in all reality most of the stuff will work if you just clean and rebuild it for free. @@jasonjones8183 Why do you think most of the parts you buy "new" from the parts store are refurbished or remanufactured? There was a time when people and mechanics refurbished stuff themselves. The west is very wasteful in the automotive industry. I was a store manager for O'Reilly's for 5 years. What happened to wiper refills? Hardly anybody stocks them because they can simply charge more for the whole blade and individually in separate packing if you need both. I could go for hours about this
@@calebbeery2538 exactly, America needs to get its own problems in order. Who makes money off of those cheep wipers? The rich people in international trading. Why don't we have small businesses? It's already some magic that you've restored the engine after the water, sand, and clay in 90 days. Just absolutely awesome!
I reckon this guy IS a professional ;)

When we escaped from Vietnam in 1979, my dad and his 4 persons team put together an engine from 4 junkyard small engines (it was illegal to own anything privately at the time) and put it on an 18 meters wooden boat that helped sailing us 284 people out to East China Sea in search for freedom. Our boat spent 7 days at sea and finally reached Indonesia water. That engine was still functioning like new.

How did the foot of the original motor end up with top if it was in the saltwater long enough to get in that condition?
It is pretty funny growing up in the west rebuilding stuff spending money on new parts when in all reality most of the stuff will work if you just clean and rebuild it for free. @@calebbeery2538 I really hope you don't believe that. Please be sarcasm. If the video is true, dude spent more time making a boat than it will run, and its made so that he'll have to destroy it to work on it.
