    I love these light weight single speed bikes , I have a Babymaker 2 which is pretty much the same bike . I get 20 mile rides and still get home with 4 bars of battery power . I can ride 50% of time with motor off . Great bikes for fitness . Nice review of the 6061 .

    I love the way when you get tired you can e-bike around

      you have to peddle with this one. If you have hills get something more powerful or with a throttle.

    I just got one of these today, and during the assembly I noticed that the display isn't necessarily inseparable from the stem. The display simply nests into the stem and is held in place by a single fastener. The wires from the display simply go through a hole in the bottom of the stem and there are little connectors. So to relocate the display, all you would have to do is unhook the connectors, take out the little fastener, and the display simply lifts off. You could then relocate it to the handlebars or wherever and replace the factory stem with a standard one. I imagine it will be just a matter of time before there are aftermarket mounts that will integrate the display with a standard stem cap, like we already see with phone mounts. And honestly, it wouldn't take a genius to model a 3d printable display mount that would work with existing stem cap phone mounts, so I would expect to see files for that sort of thing available soon and also be able to get the physical prints on Etsy. State left it so easy to do something like that I almost imagine they kind of intended it.

    I have this and a couple months I'd like to hear what it is like with use. My experience isn't the most positive. Thin paint wearing off, garbage saddle (replaced), breaks that sounds like a NY subway, loud clicking front end likely a bearing issue, lack of attachment points for accessories. It is super fun to ride but I feel like I got a lemon and the response from State and my dealer is less than appealing.

      Dang sorry to hear. We had a good experience with our model. There are a few tricks to clean up brakes, feel free to send us an email and we could share a few ideas. We did notice the lack of mounting points and circumvented the problem with some accessories from SKS that add mounts and even allow fenders.

    A singlespeed eBike in a hilly area simply means you will go through the battery much quicker and reduce your range. Having gears allows you to get into the right gearing to get the most support from the e-assist. Think of how a manual shift car works. When you need more power to start or get up the hills you want to be at the correct RPM in order to get the most out of the engine. E-bikes work exactly the same, so a singlespeed seems a bit silly.

      Not everyone lives in a hilly area but want a simple singlesped ebike. But yes, having gears is much better for hillier areas.

    I think that bike is appealing just because of it being that light weight of a bike being that it's an e-bike.
    I also wonder if it would of been better if they went for a 1x7 freewheel set up on the bike so you are able to fine tune your riding with the gears more.

    • @ElectricBikeJournal
      @ElectricBikeJournal  Год назад

      The woes of single speeds. There's always a compromise in getting the best gearing. We think that it is totally fine as is for most riders and if you happen to live in a hilly place and still are interested in this bike and a single speed it would be easy enough to change the gearing at low cost.

      @@ElectricBikeJournal Do you know what the rear cog size is? Would dropping the chainring size from 52 to say a 48 be feasible?

    I love the lightweight single speed bike thig going on now but I don't like the internal battery trend. I have a Ride1up Gravelster and I love it but for comutting I can't have it locked up outside for long.

      We hear ya, leaving bikes locked up never get's easier. We generally run multiple heavy duty Abus chain locks and sneak a tracker on when we can.

      Those are the SKS Speedrocker fenders, I think you’d be fine for height. It may feel small but the large is a 58cm pretty true.

    Ride1up Roadster Gravel is the same same except it has gates belt drive so why is this more expensive.

    • @ElectricBikeJournal
      @ElectricBikeJournal  Год назад +1

      Thats a great question. Our guess is manufacturing costs are reflected in the price difference. Additionally, the electric drive system and programming may play a part. Ride1Up exclusively does electric bikes and is probably able to get different rates due to their volume. This is State's only electric bike.

      The State bike is cheaper now lol. Get the OneUp. I should have but shipping to Canada for the gravel was a lot more than their non gravel roadster and didn't make sense but I wish I had.

    I was watching the SBC video about the menus - ruclips.net/video/8VRBw9LpRNM/видео.html - and they mention an automatic shifting function. I asked them directly and the response was "it does not have an integrated hub" but it sounds like it might eventually? Also there's a break in the rear triangle like you see on belt-drive bikes and yet that's not what it is. The same person responded to that query with "It does have a split but we haven't tested it. I am unsure if the rear wheel / motor is compatible of whether or not it is an option" which is a weird response from the manufacturer, right?
    Anyway, point is there are features on the bike that make it more interesting than you see at first glance, it just remains to be seen whether the bike sold enough to do something with it.

    250 watt is to small for hills. A 500 watt is more appropriate. Mercedes silver aero sport would be a better choice for hills but their reviews are second to none horrible.

    • @BevDavid
      @BevDavid 11 месяцев назад

      its an avarage. it gets up to over 500 on hills but it still a work out.
