    Kitchen Bouquet, a browning and seasoning sauce will give gravy the perfect dark brown color.

    I planted potatoes a long time ago and now I’m doing mashed potatoes with gravy and this video just made me more inspired to make the gravy (I’m 14)

    Ok, this explains why I’ve never enjoyed MY gravy. This is nothing like what I was doing. I gave up on making it. I’m going to give this a try.

    I was scared to make gravy for so many years. Now that I know how to make it, I'm so proud of myself lol. I usually make white gravy for chicken fried steak, but this recipe looks the same except you let the rue cook longer. And use broth instead of milk. Thanks for posting!

    My mom never liked Brown gravy so I've always been used to making country style gravy. For the past 2 years now since getting
    married I have been struggling to make an edible brown gravy, lol! This video was exactly what I needed!!!! Simple and delicious! I added soy sauce and cube steak and served over rice. I can't wait to make this again and add mushrooms. Thank you so, so much!!!!!!

    👍🏽That’s the way I was taught to make it except my mama usual use greased she had used to fry chicken or whatever she had fried.

    Thank you for showing how to. Homemade gravy was one of those recipes I never learned how to until my adulthood. My Sis in the Lord Ms. Bridgett showed me!! It's good that the younger and even the older folks can learn. Gravy makes food more delicious! Bon appetit!!🌝💜

    Thank you for this simple but informative tutorial! I made this tonight and with some patience and attentiveness, it came out just how you would expect brown gravy to be. I added chopped onions, mushroom and a little bit of soy sauce. Best gravy I've made, hands down. Merry Christmas ✨

      The Moroccans have survived long enough without gravy. They already have cuisine locked down you cant teach them anything.

      Brady Hight I am so glad you enjoyed it. Remember you can always add things to it such as mushrooms or tomatoes or heavy whipping cream or milk to make it creamier definitely you can add sautéed onions or peppers as well

      In Canada and in the north east of the states there is a dish called poutine and disco fires which consist of fries (chips), gravy and cheese (Mozzarella or cheese curds). It's so good.

    This is the best gravy I have seen that didn't start from fried chicken. Too many other sites are adding all types of spices and bullion which is loaded with salt. I grew up with Southern cooks and stood beside them asking questions. I was told to brown the flour and fat until it almost burned. That was your flavor. Then, add a glass of milk and water. Stir. That makes the real gravy.

    To make brown gravy it should taste good with brown things so I use beef stock. Why do you use chicken?

    I don't use onion powder, I use crushed (into paste) garlic. Trust me that natural garlic flavour in gravy is so so so so yummy

    How long do I cook the rue? One cup of chicken broth? How long the rue and broth are cook together. Do the oil need to be hot when I add the flour. How long should it take me to make brown gravy?Looks delicious.

      The oil does not need to be hot when you add the flour. You should start a route for approximately one minute.

    Ive been taught to use butter in a roux, its the more traditional way of doing it

      Keep adding until it’s the consistency of how you like your gravy. Some like thicker gravy, and some like watery.

    I was always taught to use butter for the roux but this looks like it turn out well so I’m going for it *fingers crossed* couldn’t you brown the flower before mixing with the oil to get rid of the flour taste or is it preferred to brown it in the oil?
