so cool! You have amazing mature skin! Love the fact you never got any kind of procedures and are accepting and embracing aging so beautifully! Thanks for the inspiration!

I love how thorough you are with everything! Especially helpful to see comparisons. I'm going to check out more of your videos. I am in my early 30s but I have very sensitive skin and react to a lot of the same ingredients that you do!

I'm glad that you are finding the discussions here helpful! I actually am really interested in fragrance but have found that I really only like 100% natural scents (and that a scent being marked as "clean" isn't sufficient for me to want to use it). The Ellis Brooklyn scents all do include synthetics (I asked), but I have been finding some good companies that do 100% natural and am planning to do a video on this soon. Ones that I have been trying and have liked: Strange Invisible, Gather Perfume, Providence Perfume Company, Wit & West, Heretic (only some fragrances are 100% natural and many have much more vetiver/smoke than I prefer, but a few have been good), The 7 Virtues (all but the new Cherry Ambition are all-natural). Eden Botanicals also has some "essence blends" of essential oils that I have found nice. The Evanhealy fragrances all smell really nice but don't last long at all (I think they dilute them too much). I wasn't aware that Osea makes fragrances and am not seeing that on their website - am I missing something? Happy holidays to you too!! ❤

Lisa…you took one for the mature audience and I am 65.
Your complexion is beautiful and does not look like you have makeup on and has a healthy glow.
6 month shelf life…not for me.
Cosmetic companies are forgetting about people 65 and over.
I have been using Merit, as I really just want a minimal look.
Give Coco a hug from me.🐾🎄

Some of the companies that are especially focused on the needs of more mature women, such as Jones Road, do seem to be doing especially well, and so maybe we will see more companies move in that direction. Thanks much for your note and Merry Christmas! ❤

Korean and Japanese foundations are for lighter skin tones, and I am Medium and in the Summer, very tan, so I have a hard time finding foundation shades.
Thank you for all that you do.
    Merry Christmas 🎄

The Haus Labs foundation is from Korea and they seem to have done a good job with the skin tones. But upon reflection, it could be the case that those companies may have less expertise in creating a wide range of skin tones and that a lot of extra work might be required to get a range that is perceived as appropriate in the West. That is an interesting thought. ❤

Haus Lab Foundation was a disaster for me.
Every line and wrinkle showed up on my face.

@@dawnbonome9056 It is so interesting how much experiences with foundations can vary across people. That foundation worked really well for me, but obviously not everyone with mature skin has had the same experience.

I love your content, especially for older women. My only critique is that you talk so much until halfway through the video! Then we get to see the product and what it does finally! I will say that there’s not many companies that do correct shades for women of color and that’s why they are always in the sale! This is actually great for older skin, but everyone who gets the best look, they use a brush. Why don’t you use a sponge on one side, a brush on the other, then use fingers on forehead?

    • @lisapetrison-beautyreviews
      @lisapetrison-beautyreviews  7 месяцев назад

Thanks for your suggestions! I did a quick Google search to see how much agreement there is on the best way to apply foundation, and the consensus does seem to be something similar to what i see in this article: "Fingers are best for a quick and natural application; sponges are good for achieving a flawless finish; and brushes are ideal for full coverage."
      www.realsimple.com/beauty-fashion/makeup/makeup-face/how-to-apply-foundation#:~:text=Fingers%20are%20best%20for%20a,can%20go%20a%20long%20way.
I think it is the case that different people on RUclips focus on different makeup styles, in large part ones that are appropriate for their own makeup needs. For me, I have found that pretty much across the board, applying a lot of even a lighter foundation to my skin makes me look terrible, because of the extent to which it emphasizes my wrinkles. And that i do much better if I use a cream concealer or cream foundation to address issues on a spot basis, and then use just a small amount of foundation to cover my face in general, mostly to make the texture of my skin look better.
I've personally had very little success with using a foundation brush, because i feel like it puts way too much foundation on my face and also takes a long time to apply (plus it gives me brush laundry to do, taking more time). A sponge works better, but I feel really strongly that sponges feel terrible to me after the first use (due to bacterial/fungal type contamination that probably most people aren't bothered by) and that to use one effectively, i would need to set up a system where I would need to figure out how to sterilize the sponge if I were going to use it on a regular basis. I have heard that putting sponges in a microwave actually results in more bad microorganisms growing on them, plus I don't even have a microwave, and so I'm not sure what the best way to sterilize sponges would be. Maybe I could try setting up a water ozonator?
In any case, I see ads on RUclips with Bobbi Brown on an almost daily basis where she states that traditional heavier foundations do not work for older women, and I am definitely in agreement with her on that when it comes to my own needs. And I have spent a lot of time in her FB group (JRB Roadies) where the consensis seems to be among those 38,000 members (mostly women over 50) that a lighter makeup style works well for them too.
But i am not saying that a heavier foundation is not going to be appropriate for anyone who is getitng older. Maybe for people who have a lot of hyperpigmentation and not many wrinkles, that would be the best choice. I'm just not sure that I am the best person to demonstrate that.
I can try to see if I can put demonstrations earlier in the video, rather than doing a lot of background first. I do also put time stamps on every video, so if people want to skip ahead to the demonstrations, it should be easy for them to do that.
I certainly believe that a lot of companies do a really bad job of developing the right shades for women with darker skin even when they do offer a lot of shades for them.
Thank you so much for watching my channel and offering suggestions. I really appreciate it! ❤
