Much appreciated!
Looked forward to the video Dave, didn't disappoint, look forward to seeing the next video.
Thanks Alan, good to see you're using the Sierra 😊
@@DavesGarageuk yes it's going well.
Impressive Dave. If I'm being really picky and Because I'm paranoid, lol, I would always use a spot of locktite on those pick up pipe bolts /sump bolt. Great the channel is growing, cheers.
Well done dave on 7000 great viewing has always
Thank you David 😊
Great video Dave, really enjoying the engine coming together👍
Good to hear
Excellent video
Plenty of tips
I would've loved to have seen you making the sump
Try this 😋 ruclips.net/video/Ev4FtpTyqyA/видео.html
Good progress Dave, your sump looks like it’s OE fantastic workmanship as always. Great video, great channel, top man👍🏻
Glad you like it Mick 😊
As you probably know I love your channel fella, thank you for sharing this with us all 😊 love the progress
Thanks 👍
Remember to fit a spigot bearing into the end of the crank
ST170 already has one fitted, unlike the standard Zetec.
Nice work Dave. I modified a pinto sump with crank scraper and baffles etc, all was fine and clear when free spinning it like you did but once running the conrods were clicking on the crank scraper, most annoying ! Hope you don't have that sort of problem. Great vid as usual 👍
Hi Marty, I'm hoping it'll be OK, the rods do stretch at high rpm slightly, but I've allowed clearance for that... I hope 🤣
Well done Dave another enjoyable video the oil sump was well engineered just that slight HIC up but it happens onwards and upwards
Great progress on the engine Dave! (I remember back in the day that apart from the very basic 1300L Ford offered a super-basic 1100 mk1 (it must have been about 50bhp I think!) an ST170 engine should be a very nice drive…..😁
They did, but the 1100 crossflow felt a lot quicker than it was to be fair, my first car was an 1100 Fiesta, it went really well.
The worry with silicone is it can set and block oil pumps and pick up pipes. There is a good alternative and it only sets where it is clamped together if any does go in the sump it mixes with the oil and doesn't block anything. I'd have to get back to you with the name unless someone here can help. I'm sure it's made by loctite
Here in the colonies, the only Zetec available is the 2L version. I gave consideration to removing the upper girdle, and replacing the entire pan assembly, replacing it with a single piece all steel unit. However, upon further inspection, I fount the aluminum section also provides significant strength to the engine block. So, I constructed a winged steel portion. My car also required a front sump. Due to road clearances,, the pan needed to be shortened, and with both sides of the pan being winged, the original oil capacity was maintained.
Cornflake packet gaskets and rizla papers for gapping points!!
You should knock up a few conversion parts to sell on to subscribers
Thanks Bob, I'll test these first, and see how it goes.
Another great video Dave, going back to a previous video I’m curious if you had any reaction or lifting to painting on top of the Halfords weld through? As you I have used it and it seems crazy to take it off again!
So far so good, paint sticks to it ok
@@DavesGarageukgreat! Thanks for the info and keep producing great videos! They’re Eagerly anticipated!
love that sump. what your thoughts on the 20mph restrictions round wales?
Thank you. 20MPH arrhg don't get me started on the daft idea that must have been the Brian child of a panel of cyclist
have to agree with you there !@@DavesGarageuk
Three to four hundred pounds Dave? ( wow I must be getting too used to watching our American cousins, they only seem to work in $thousands over there! 😁😂🤣)
🤣🤣
How many HP has these Z-Tec Engine ?
Greetings from Germany. Michael
From standard 2.0 130hp to st170 160hp, none of them actually dyno the rated 170hp. And the Mk1 Focs RS 225hp but it’s turbo.
Not to be the ahole but all the steel pans leak on the zetecs, from all the aftermarket manufacturers. I hope yours is better. Nice work on the pan!
All ideas and knowledge welcome, time will tell.
@@DavesGarageuk So it does, by the way the silvertop wintage tray would be a good idea, some free horsepower and less oil mist out the breather.
@@MJPilote true, I had forgotten that
Was waiting to mention that but decided to check the comments to see if it was mentioned I would use the girdle & modify the sump
…..by the way sump looks very O.E great work as always…too man👍🏾
