Definitely a better test than other channels. Tired of seeing people compare phones based on which can open an app first or which boots up first from sleep etc. These tests back then were a test of speed, when chips were actually slower, but now it's completely pointless. Since phones are so fast the difference is negligible or unnoticeable.

To be more precise, early whispers regarding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 have pointed at a single-core score of 3,000 and a multi-core score in the range of ~9,200 points. While the A18 Pro's single-core dominance remains assured, the multi-core crown may well slip to its Qualcomm and MediaTek counterparts. That being said, Apple's latest iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 has started reaching iPhones, and it seems that a major performance boost has been granted.
Recent Geekbench listings indicate a massive boost in performance to the A18 Pro, with single-core scores reaching 3,600 and multi-core scores reaching as high as 9,400 points.

  • @davout5775

I kinda feel bad for Snapdragon chipsets, even though I know that those are really good chipsets but in this era what matters is the scores and its easy to fool people. Snapdragon always lagged when it comes to single core performance but it's not that they are not capable of producing something that rivals apple silicon but they don't have the means to do so, which affects competitiveness. I can blame ARM stock chips for that, those are not that good compared to custom-made apple silicon (hence they stopped using stock ARM). But things are changing for the first time ever, Qualcomm is coming up with their own custom made chips, and so far I have a very high expectation.
As for GPU, no matter what these benchmarks say, there's no other mobile GPU that can beat Adreno, because they have the expertise that none have (including Tegra) period.
I am an android user and will always be because i just don't like a mere smartphone company to decide or control what's good or bad for me.

The games said that, easy to beat Andreo.. just check any game results here (Warzone for example, the Android phone peaked 100% GPU usage on 980p with 50fps but Apple devices still just used just 93% GPU for 1200p with 60fps.. well lower GPU usage for higher rendering resolution and even higher fps..? I think it's beated in every possible way.. also it can shame it even more with a cooler, if it can also use the 100% GPU capacity.. Sure you can say that, but in benchmarks.. well use a benchmark where the crappy CPU side isn't idle, and not all heat generation goes just to the GPU side.. that is a real world benchmark, where the CPU side is also working..)

In terms of cpu performance I stop believing geekbench 6 results as I always find them to heavily "favor" iphones as I remember when the s23 ultra beat the iphone in geek bench 6 and 2 weeks later they released geek bench 6, which shows me that it isn't really a trusted cpu test for a phone, as I hope cinebench comes to mobile phones as on pc it is pretty great as it is optimized for both mac and windows. But in terms of gpu performance apple did really stepped up there game but in terms of % it is very small as I predicted about the same or 3% better. For me I am soon switching to the s24 ultra as I am wanting to try samsung again, and my iphone is kinda broken and it isn't worth fixing because it would be the same cost to trade in the phone or same resale value.

What will change if 8 Gen 4 releases exactly? how one Chip will solve the problem of having 50 publishers of android systems with their own custom OS bullshit built into it and different hardware combinations?
iOS has been optimized year after year after year after year and its always a consistent architecture which has its own graphics API even now the Metal API.
in fact iOS is so consistent that you can practically tell no difference between iPhones, iPads and Macbooks despite being so drastically different in hardware architecture, sizes and specs.
You can play iOS games natively on Macbooks but you cant even consistent use the same apps from one Android to another Android.
And even in the dellusional hypothetical scenario where you have 8 Gen 4 have good perfomance then what? None will utilize it not in games not in apps, you wont get FSR, Upscalers, RayTracing, 120 FPS or anything remarkable it will perform the same as Gen 2 in games.

Have both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Samsung S24 Ultra, and let's begin with a comparison: display. Samsung-how fast is Samsung? How easy is it to download torrents without paying for any apps? From multitasking to gaming to split-screen to customization to Dex to camera zoom (which is much more important) to battery life to S Pen (and what you can do with the S Pen), audio is better, build quality and look (that boxy look with a flat display is so much better, but overall, the vibrant colors that are so rich and adjustable are the biggest department where the Samsung S24 beats the iPhone 16 Pro Max), coated ANTI-REFLECTIVE SCREEN is somthing that cannot be matched there is not reflection, on sunlight is much more easy to read, so overall it's even stupid to compare the iPhone 16 Pro Max or any iPhone with Samsung. Maybe with some well optimised games where Iphone lead if that is game changer for someone he can go with Iphone 16 pro max but i find that even those games glich have lot of laggs.
Samsung has been on the market for 100 years and even sells some stuff for the iPhone.
The Samsung S24 Ultra is far better. I only have the iPhone 16 Pro Max because I have friends who like iPhones, and they don't even know why I did so much research on which is faster. Samsung is even faster than the 16 Pro Max, so maybe it's all about the brand-like that Apple logo or Nike, etc. But there's a good reason why Samsung is more expensive.

If you used that logic, there would never be any comparisons, as we could say that it is unfair that the iPhone 16 from 2023 only competes with the 2024 S25U. It is a Catch-22, so we compare the date of the phone's release. Otherwise, from your flawed logic, the Flip 6 is a 2023 phone despite being released in August 2024!

If Samsung doesn’t prioritize thermals and power consumption and chase these high benchmark numbers, my fear is the S25 Ultra will be the same. Huge peak benchmark numbers that blow A18 Pro out of the water, but immediately met with heavy throttle due to high power draw and temps and thus, bad sustained performance and gaming as well. This is why S23 Ultra outperforms S24U in gaming despite benchmarks being much higher on the S24 Ultra

We are not testing the chip; we are testing the phone, and the S24U was released in 2024. Performance is not only about the chip; its metrics are affected by thermals, OS, app quality, optimisations, etc. So, it is a weak excuse to say that because the chip was manufactured in 2023, it is a 2023 phone! Also, 100% of all global SD8G3 phones were released in 2024 and the ones in the Flip and Fold 6 were only released a month before the iPhone!
