Wait circumference of 90 is OK- Your body mass index is more than 23-you are overweight but not obese. I play tennis as well but I had a waist circumference of 100 cm. Physical activity will not replace the dietary intake. You should lose at least 6 to 8 pounds to get the rate circumference down and also to get the weight down for a body mass index of 23
Doc just one question. I have always been over weight, recently touched the obese mark, well crossed it due to having a baby. Its been a year and I have not been able to reduce the extra, extra weight I had gained over the years. I was 32 at the time of the pregnancy and all the doctors kept saying I am high risk owing to my weight and previous pregnancy losses. I was closely monitored for all vitals throughout and in the entire 10 months dint have BP or Diabetes. Still have sugar less than 95 in fasting. Waist size was never 80-85 cms and all. But post pregnancy it has increased further more. Due to C-section delivery I wasn't able to start exercising upto 6 months post delivery. Now I am getting into the groove and try and incorporate 40-60mins of active walking or cardio and have reduced about 1 kg. Have only vegetarian home cooked food 99% of the month,I don't measure my food though but still I haven't lost much weight. Inch loss is there though. Nevertheless you are scaring me saying ideal waist size should be 80 cms, I am well past it. Nearly 1.5 times the same. No matter what tummy exercises I do I am unable to reduce the same. I know it takes time and consistency but nevertheless the goal seems super unachievable and I give up after sometime. Also I am not a sweet tooth and I don't crave sweets and eat very minimal sugar in a day. No chococlates, biscuits, cookies etc. No junk whatsoever. My only hitch is South indian veg food, comprising of all rice items. This intermittent fasting had worked initially for me but now with thw baby around very difficult to stick to. She is almost 1 year and I have decided to take the 1st step towards a healthier lifestyle. From 119 cms to 80 cms is it achievable?? Is it a SMART goal?

You have to decrease to less than 90 cm-I would say if you lose 2 to 3 kg you will be able to get that
Thanks Doctor. Now I have reduced the waist circumference to 89 cm (empty stomach) following proper eating window. Should we need to measure the waist circumference in an empty stomach or anytime in the day is fine?
Hi Doctor, I have been following your videos. I appreciate your efforts to spread awareness. Can you please talk about what does an ideal balanced diet mean? Also, pls talk about vitamin D. I am an Indian living in North America and I am worried about my vitamin D levels. Apart from sun light, how else can we maintain or incorporate vit D. I am sure these topics can be useful for many others. Thank you.

@@DrPal the best way to keep away from snacks is not to buy it. It worked in my home. My hubby looks very thin but he has got tummy only coz of snakcs. I forced him not to buy and replace with nuts and fruits intially it was hard. Now I can say he has changed almost 70%. The secret mantra to stay away from snacks is don't buy or make it.

Superb sir,I like your inclusiveness
Doctor, thanks for all your help. I have never failed any tests in my life and so did I pass the 2 tests here. (Pretty upset since i am very active play tennis/racquetball 5 times week)
Weight - 151.4lbs, Height - 5'6", Waist 90cm.
Wait circumference of 90 is OK- Your body mass index is more than 23-you are overweight but not obese. I play tennis as well but I had a waist circumference of 100 cm. Physical activity will not replace the dietary intake. You should lose at least 6 to 8 pounds to get the rate circumference down and also to get the weight down for a body mass index of 23
Thanks doctor. Downloaded Myfitnesspal app again. Your motivation might encourage me.
Great!
WC - 88 cms
