Hi Doc! What are books that I can read for anthropometric measurements? I'm doing a report on the class about it. Thankyou! (With proceedures)

Hi Largo, Arel Emmanuel C.. There are several text books out their with various health and fitness assessments including anthropometric assessments (e.g., Exercise Physiology Laboratory Manual by Beam and Adams). I have not read it, but check out this from the CDC: www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhanes/nhanes_07_08/manual_an.pdf

I have a question. If BMI has been proven to be flawed, then why still promote and/or use it?

    • @VivoPhys

Every anthropometric and body composition technique is flawed in different ways. They all simply give an estimate of health risk. BMI is likely the easiest and therefore most well researched. It's also reasonably accurate for most people. Especially those who do not do significant amounts of exercise, which is most people.

@@VivoPhys Thank you, Dr.Matthews. I just graduated from PTA school, and found your videos trying to study for boards. They’re very informative.
