I hope Vinland brings about more studios to be brave enough to animate Seinen-genre mangas. Beserk deserves a whole new anime revamp. Vagabond deserves a big studio taking it.
The scene where Thorfinn had to crawl up a hole while holding all the people he's killed was the most powerful emotional moment I have ever experienced while watching a show.
I think canutes development has been pretty cool to watch also. It's like thorfinn and canute switched personalities almost. And also switched haircuts lol.
I don’t know how anyone can like what Throfinn becomes…. A weak naive bxtch that gets taken advantage of. I liked him better when he was a bloodthirsty warrior, I understand the guy needed character development but the way they did it was so…. Gay 😂 he’s some soft soy boi now so no thanks
You have to be a certain level of maturity to appreciate season 2. People who haven’t experienced a lot yet won’t be able to appreciate a hero rectifying his actions rather than constantly going to the next unjustified slaughter
Exactly I still remember reading the manga years ago when I was 12 and I found it kinda boring just like how some people see season two but now that I'm older and more mature I see how this show is a masterpiece
That's how I feel about it. Ten years ago I would have called this a "pussy show" because they dared to show a perspective that isn't "Hey isn't it badass how angry he looks while killing??? He's just like Erin Jager OMG!!!" like all the vapid 12 year olds who idolize young Thorfinn.
That's some heavy elitist behavior my brother in christ. If Vinland Saga S2 requires to have a certain level of maturity to watch then you're... quite deluded
The most beautiful thing about the season was how the author defined courage. That shit hit deep. I also like the emphasis on the little things, which is very in theme since Thorfinn also gets to learn to appreciate those in this season.
I agree that her arc is great but like she blue balled the fuck out of Einar, she's so fucking lucky Einar was a great person until she died, I liked Ketil until he decided to beat Arnheid despite her being pregnant with his baby and even poked at the baby, he can suck my dick.
Vinland Saga as a whole is just a masterpiece. The themes and overall message of the story is just awesome. The character development is PEAK. There’s a reason Berserk, Vinland Saga, and Vagabond are highly appreciated.
I enjoy Charlie leaving his pets in his videos, even if they interrupt his train of thought and break his flow. He just goes with it and it's nice. I like that.
Makes you take askeladd as a father and thorfinn as his son and you are in thorfinn's position...... I can't imagine myself in this situation where my father asks me how will you live after im gone..........
Vinland Saga season 2 is the best piece of media that I’ve consumed this year. This show absolutely blew me away with its storytelling, it’s music and the message behind it. This story actually encouraged me in a way that few pieces of media ever have. This story makes you want to be a better person. It’s absolutely beautiful to see and it deserves the highest of praise.
As a Vinland Saga Manga reader, I knew a lot of people were going to be turned off by season 2 and its drastic change of pace. Which is unfortunate, because the story that unfolds is very beautiful. Makoto Yukimura is a very insightful individual, and his art is quite amazing. I'm glad that he's able to share it with the rest of us.
when season 1 ended i remember seeing a comment saying that S2 was going to be alot different and very slow, glad i did because i was ready for the change and loved it
Honestly this is me. I loved season 1 because I like to watch anime for story + action, and s1 of vinland saga perfected both. So although I can respect the story and can respect people's opinions of season 2, i just genuinely didnt enjoy it because it felt like I got vertigo from the suddenness of thorfinn going from an edgy depressed fighter mc to a jesus christ pacifist wannabe in the space of (from the audience perspective) literally no time at all because we didnt see any of the timeskip content.
i got the entire experience of it on the anime, and i genuinely loved what the author did. Vinland Saga is probably one of the most fantastic anime i've ever watched, and I can't wait to see what they have in store
@@chivzlol8649I've read the entire Vinland Saga manga and yeah the drastic alternate pace and flow could turn off people but the story and art is genuinely amazing. A Japanese manga artist makes probably the greatest ancient Nordic storytelling in recent times, alongside The Northman of course.😂

I hurts me to hear that season 2 was underrated, its so beautiful. I knew people fell off season 2 but i didnt know it was this underrated, Thorfinn's saga of coming to terms with his feelings and learning his dads message is so fucking well done i loved every second of it.
I think the only reason people are calling this underrated is because many of the people aren't in the anime community. Vinland Saga has been well known for years, even being called one of the top three seinen, along with Berserk and Vagabond. So it isn't underrated, people just aren't really in an anime community
@@exnecross3141in the grand scheme of animes, the vinland saga really isnt popular. In fact, it was so unpopular this second season was barely made. Ofc its a lot more popular in the west, but where the real money is back in japan, people arent rly interested so it barely receives any attention
@@exnecross3141 A very small ratio dropped it? 8.7 with 700k+ members 8.8 with 100k+ members With members included you can actually see how underrated season 2 is.
Yeah i dont know its just boring. I personally didnt spend enough time with thorfinn to really care about his "wait killing bad?" Ephiphany. Berserk has done and is doing it better.
@@joyboy6752 I guess if you don't connect with the character, the story wouldn't hit as hard. I can't speak much on Berserk's world, but a part of the huge impact of Thorfinn realizing he has no enemies is because of how warrior-oriented the Viking Age was. Declaring you won't hurt people is pretty insane in a time as violent as that
Jeez thank you for making this. Vinland Saga is like no anime I've seen. The scene where Snake was reading the Bible passage about loving your enemies to old master was an absolute masterpiece because it was such a stark contrast to the lives they were living at the time. So much thought has been put into every crevice of this show and it's paid off. I cried so many times throughout the second season. It's easily at the top of my list, and it might even become my favorite anime.
Season 2 made my jaw drop... The portrayal of going from a hollow man to a man with a purpose in life was so incredibly done with perfect pacing too. It truly is the best season of vinland yet for me.
@@KiTho06t's just not tho, I completely understand where u guys are coming from and I love season 2. But saying season 1 wasn't as good is a straight up lie. There's a reason so many people dropped it, season 1 felt almost magical with the way the storytelling was done. The violence and gore of the world was sold amazingly through the action. Like it or not that is what many people fell in love with the show for. As much as I like season 2, it isn't better than season 1, at least not in my opinion. Not even close.
WRONG season 1 was great season 2 is a boring dollar store story about redemption and purpose. None of it was inspiring or fun to watch there's tons of these stories out there but season 1 WAS special it it's own way it wasn't just an action anime it was action mercenary adventure and viking court intrigue and THAT is special. I want more of THAT not the crybaby "waaaa killing is bad" crap they force-fed you for the rest of the manga
@@hamooozmugharbel if you just like the fights, the go watch naruto or one piece or some shit that has good fights in it, the author of vinland had a vision in his story and wanted to take it somewhere special, vinland saga is not a shonen anime where the main character gets a boost every fight, it's an anime about life and it's turning points and how a person can change after his sole purpose is gone, Gigguk's interview with the author explains a lot, so I do recommend watching it to understand why it took that turn of events in it's story.
The Farmland arc moved me in a way no other anime/manga did, the development Thorfinn made him one of my favourite characters in the series.Without going into spoilers I'll just say Thorfinn inspired me to be a much better person even halfway through S2 he already became a hero to me and someone I want to be just like even more so by the end of it, and the words "We have no enemies, no one has enemies" will ring through my head forever.
all thorfinn did was transform from a vengeance nut to your average "talk no jutsu solves everything" protagonist i dont see how that's so lifechanging
@Whoryu_ once you start commenting on multiple places with points that completely invalidate and miss the entire seasons message, you just start looking ridiculous lol. They drive home so largely that thorfinn just wants to try everything possible before having to resort to violence. While acknowledging that the world they live in is the most unwelcoming of that view there is. If it was some talk no jutsu crap, thorfinn and snake never would have had to fight, Garda would not have been killed, and the entire war on the farm would have also not happened.
Season 2 was what made this my favourite anime. This isn't an anime for 13 - 15 year olds. This has to be advertised to an older demographic, anime audience are mostly into shonen and aren't matured enough to appreciate and enjoy this masterpiece
He said its underappreciated and nobody talks about it but it is literally the most popular anime right now. The most popular meme right now "i have no enemies" even people from non-anime communities know about it. It is way more appreciated too from back then when season 1 came out.
@@armaanb.6566 nah the most popular anime right now is def oshi no ko and demon slayer. Oshi no ko has crazy stream numbers and it’s opening hit top billboard charts. @@BfkcjscbsnjcI’ve seen literally zero mention of the show and I actually browse anime subs now and then. Netflix does a terrible job marketing their shows and outside of that, I’ve never seen the show talked about.
Vinland saga is the first piece of entertainment to make me cry not because I was sad, but because of how beautiful it was. The last 2 episodes of season 2 were genuine 10/10 masterpieces to me. It was all just so beautifully put together and concluded
So relatable, this feeling when a moment in a film is so well done, that you shed a tear. I remember that happened to me during pirates of the Caribbean, when Cutler Beckett died
I can confidently say that I cried like a little baby boy towards the end of s2, I've never had an anime character get to me like Thorfin did, plus the Manga creator is such a wholesome person I can't help but feel grateful he has blessed us with this work of art, his other work ( Planetes ) is amazing as well completely different vibe
the end of episode 23 was so good. the conversation between thorfinn and einar at arnheids grave with that beautiful ost and then the poem afterwards. Beautifully written season I almost cried too.
Just finished season 2. I’m so glad that someone else understands how magnificent this story is. The transition from this blood thirsty child to this reborn person is some of the best story telling ever.
the transition legit lasted 5 seconds, he went to hell and became a different person overnight, how the fuck are you going to make a story about growing as a person and shit and just skip the growing as a person par like what?

Seeing Thorfinn sort of transform from a revengeful and crude kid to this calm and peaceful man is something I just loved about this anime, truly one of my favorite animes of all time
@@FinnishCrystal it's rare when a seinen gets this big, that's why people can't seem to understand whats in front of them, and only focus on the big fights forgetting why is being fought. It's like thinking Griffith is just pure evil, forgetting all the character development he goes through before turning into Femto, or thinking Luffy is the same guy that jumped out of the barrel 1000 episodes later. Loss and gain change people, and sometimes a character needs to lose to gain something, and then turning more evil or more human.
Bro this line made me reflect on my life. And for the first time I realized what Thorfinn said was true for me. in our world the media tries to make it seem like enemies are all around us, but hat just isn't true. Most of us really don't have any enemies. I love this show
@@TheCoolreaper44 I took it to mean that having enemies is a choice. You might be someone's "enemy" inadvertently, but it is your choice if they are your enemy or not. Being hateful towards others or choosing to use violence is just that, a choice. And choosing to have no enemies is what is actually a noble goal, not fighting.
I remember reading the farm arc after season one just ended, and I couldn't believe the character development and depth of Thorfinn, and all the intense situations him and Einar went through. Charlie is right when he said other anime dont explore character depth on this level, because ive yet to see it replicated.
And sadly there's a reason we don't get it, because you have such a big percentage of viewers in the anime scene that just want Dragonball fights constantly without break, and if they don't get that they'll complain non stop.
Yeah, most anime is just about quantity. They want a cast of 30 characters that each are assigned tropes and archetypes because it's unrealistic to write that many properly.
I have never liked a show so much that I picked up reading it. I was surprised at how the story changes the next arc(after season 1), but it made me really think deeply about my own life, and how I want to live. Season 3 is going to bring GREAT things for the show too. I cannot wait to see more of this story animated.
The manga is so great as well, the tone change is absolutely insane and the way the story is told is amazing. They went from nuts to buts action into a more philosophical perspective. Also amazing art.

I gave Season 2 a break because of the change of pace, saw a video called “You don’t understand Vinland saga”, finished Season 2 and am in tears. It’s a MASTERPIECE. The heart, soul, depth in character development is completely unparalleled and gives an inspirational message. Master class writing. 10/10
Season 2 genuinely made me think about life in a new perspective. It makes you question your own actions and for that I appreciate this season so much more. It's a shame it didn't have as much hype as the first season...
I'm writing a visual novel that's kinda going in reverse of your take on season 2. It's supposed to show how one who brushes off their past will easily be crushed by it, even someone with power and support and love. The protag is a teen who has experienced a comically large amount of trauma, but after many years of torture and a few of retribution, he kinda swept it under the rug, finding peace, money, riches, and a view of how the types of people he stayed far away from and automatically hated weren't all that bad. That is until a turning point when lose ends break the chain, and the character gets dragged back into that hole of darkness. The ending also has a huge purpose as a moral moving forward for the audience and the protagionst.
To be honest, if you did not thought about your own actions before... Then there was something wrong with you, because it is an common sense and for that purpose therapists exist. So it would be better to schedule one sitting.
@@__SiD__ I'm not saying that i never thought about my actions prior to watching season 2. Sometimes, it just helps you to view things from a different point of view.
Vinland Saga season 2 was so so perfect, I’ve never cried at so many episodes of an anime. I am so invested in it and I’m so happy you’re talking about it.
It wasn't a risk, they took the source martial and turned it into a beautiful animation. Vinland saga is one of the best written manga out there. Reading it I knew a lot of people would drop off after season one. Though those who stay are in for an amazing tale.
@BlazingInfernape8 massive cope. Askeladds death was the most intense climax the series has ever reached. Canutes 180 in the middle of battle was more satisfying character development than anything I've seen after season 1 and the tragic death of his servant was more downbeat than anything that came after. It was PEAKLAND saga in season 1 and midland saga for everything after
I think the farmland saga arc was a flop because you definitely required a certain degree of emotional maturity to truly be captivated by the fantastic character development of Thorfinn and company. Action is supposed to be fast-paced and interesting, but S2 was able to make every episode feel like 5 minutes with barely any action. It's a testament to how well written it is.
It's mainly edgy teens thinking that anything but violence is just lame. Literally the same as thorfinns 6 year old self. They miss that thorfinn never liked violence, he never liked fighting, he was just drowning in his own self destructive hate.
My thoughts as well. Most people hating on it are mostly shonen watchers who’s favorite anime is Naruto for all the action scenes. You need to be able to truly appreciate and understand the emotion behind season 2 to really understand how good it is.
I know the anime is far behind the manga, but I cried when I read chapter 191. One of the best moments in the entire story, I can’t wait for it to be animated.
Vinland saga is an insanely amazing anime. It is the best show ever of any medium. Honestly it has completely changed my outlook on life and Thorfinn is an inspiration like no other. I cried like crazy a couple of times because Thorfinn is such a good and strong person.
@@Kjernekar yeah you people have completely changed what the word alpha means nowadays 3 years ago when I made that playlist it meant striving to be the best version of yourself thank god I did
I think the change in thorfinn, from being raised as "The son of Askeladd" back to being "The son of Thors" is what makes this season great. I think the main reason it got the hate that it did was because the first season attracted the shounen audience, thinking this was a shounen series, when in all actuality its a seinen. And if you don't want to sit through the complex character arcs of everyone on the farm, I can understand, but as an adult series, it kinda expects you to have a good attention span.
season 3 will attract the people that dropped s2. s3 is a mix of s1 and 2 so there is something for everyone. also if anyone missed thorkell get ready.
Vinland saga has changed my life permanently. I want to become a better person and let go of regrets and grudges like Thorfinn has. It is an absolute 10/10 show and i recommend everyone who hasn't watched it to watch it.
So many moments in season 2 that literally make you reevaluate what it means to be a man, to be a "true warrior". They managed to stretch out one characters morality struggles throughout a single season and didn't make it dry or repetitive. The 100 punches scene will be engrained in my brain for the rest of my life
Never seen the show before but the way he talks about protagonist development reminds me a lot of the development Guts has throughout Berserk and anything that well crafted is something to always appreciate.
Vinland Saga is considered one of the "Big 3" of seinen manga along with Vagabond and of course Berserk. If you like the mature story telling of Berserk you should find both of the other two fantastic.
@@axelthesotBerserk definitely is the best of the three by a massive margin but Vinland saga at least has some stuff going for it. Like I guess having the best line delivery. Vagabond only for artstyle

Vinland saga s2 is so good because it flips your perspective on s1 so much, and it really drives home it's message by first idolizing the classic viking rampage before forcing you to stare at the devestation that creates. Thorfinns new ideology is so interesting because an entire season was dedicating to setting up his past. Thors had the same ideology, but compared to Thorfinn you kinda brush him off in the first episode as being naive in not killing when threatened, it's when Thorfinns realizes he was right that you do aswell. And having any show flip your perspective in that way is worth gold. I also honestly don't know why people find s2 boring. Yeah there's not a lot of action, but a lot of shit is happening, and if you genuely liked s1 you should see that
Idk I hated Thorfinn from season 1 despite enjoying the action but the best parts of season 1 to me was always the characters and dialog that's where it truly shined. The overall story especially the second half with Askeladds whole background canute awakening and Askeladds death etc all the best parts to where I was worried without Askeladd it wouldnt be as good as season 1, although I was always expectjng at least a 9/10 for season 2
I devoured the first season and I knew about the change of pace, but I was so surprised by how much tension they were able to build in the story despite that slower tempo. The episodes from beginning to end feature some of the best character writing I have ever seen, the conclusion was simply brilliant and it was the first thing on my to do list every Monday evening for its entire runtime. Masterclass in writing and an absolute masterpiece overall.
It's wasn't a change of pace but change of genre. Its like the next Jonny wick, with mama mia drama. So to those who like action, may not appreciate drama and feel catfish
I never expected him to say Vinland Saga, I've been reading it for years now so I feel like its sufficiently hyped in my head. Its always had its crown as one of the big classic seinen manga. I'm really happy anime viewers are starting to see why, I love how the mangaka is getting all this fresh love for his work. He seems so excited to interact with an international audience too
It's not easy to tell a good story about pacifism, one that actually gets into the nitty gritty of philosophy. It's even harder to do it when set around violent viking history and not lose focus So I have a lot of respect to Makoto Yukimura for pulling it off, he's a great author and artist
For me, the Farmland Arc in S2 is one of the best arcs in anime/manga, although I can understand why people dropped it after S1. I remember reading it in the manga a few years and being blown away by it and the anime was the same. The fact that it's 'only' sold 7 million copies is criminal given some of the garbage out there that sells 10x as much.
im so sad that people didnt stick with 2nd season, the author made such a great job making a pacifist message through Thorfinns development and the storytelling is so beautiful thank you for making this video i really hope more people give it a chance
I was an avid supporter of Vinland Saga from the start and I am glad to hear its getting more recognition, especially after so many people cried about season 2 being "boring". Which is a shame, because its one of the best the industry has to offer.
vinland saga is far from the best the industry has to offer, the show was still just shallow even after yhey decided to make the entire show about this guy and his emotions and hoe good of a lerson he is etc
It’s a beautiful story. I’ve watched interviews of the author, and the way he talks about this work is wonderful. It’s a story about love and you feel the love and care that went into crafting it. It’s the only anime that I wait with bated breath to hear news on future releases. I’m tempted to give it a 10/10. I can’t praise it enough.

Don't forget, the songs they've chosen for the openings from season 1 and 2 from Survive Said the Prophet, are so good. Some of my favorite openings, and the band itself has become a new favorite of mine to listen to.
I've only heard survive said the prophet from banana fish (also some of my favs) so that makes me happy to hear they used them for vinland saga as well
The moment when Thorfin said to Canute that he'll run in order to avoid war with him was one of the most profound moments I've seen in any work of fiction. I almost wonder if there was anyone in history who had a similar story to Thorfinn. (Sorry if you haven't watched it)
thorfinn and canute coming to an agreement telling canute that he is going to build a nation different than his for the people who cannot live freely in his nation and tells him that the more he kills and pillages for his ultimate goal the more work he is leaving for him to build his nation was one of the most beautiful moments in any sort of media i’ve ever seen. canute acknowledging what an incredible man thorfinn is and pulling back all of his troops from the farm, downsizing his personal army so he doesn’t have to take over farms and tax his people, and saying that he finally found someone that isn’t against him in thorfinn made me cry tears of happiness. what a fucking incredible show man.
@@Urekyui think he means a real person similar to thorfinn in the sense that they turned from a murderous monster who hurts others for their own gain into a pacifist trying to atone for their sins and grow. Vinland Saga is one of my favorite stories ive ever consumed, and the Anime team did an incredible job of adapting season 2. Its sad that some people, very much like young Thorfinn, can not see past the violence

You're free to feel like the season was Mediocre, I certainly disagree but I dont think its that fair to say the pacing was bad.
After watching season 2, my view of anime changed. I don't think any other anime can make me appreciate it's content as much as that one season. It brought me to tears each episode between ep 9 and 23. The emotional impact of this season is something I won't forget. Season 2 also made going back and watching season 1 more impactful.
Sadly, Vinland Saga is not all that popular in Japan, either. I'm amazed it got such an incredible anime adaptation. MAPPA clearly took a risk doing the 2nd season.
vinland saga literally changed me as a person i used to be pretty rude to just about everyone but hearing thorfinn talk about being kinder made me want to become kinder and ive become much more happier for it
Vinland Saga will end up in my top 3. It touches aspects of my existence I didn't think could be accurately captured and portrayed, least by an anime. This show shocked me, for good reason, and I'm glad you made this video because it does deserve more recognition.
I literally could not agree more. One of the most well written seasons I’ve ever seen from an anime with the absolute best character development I’ve ever seen in any form of media and the most dramatic 180 I’ve ever seen from one season to the next. The fact season 1 and 2 very literally fall into different genres and yet their transition is so seamless and well paced and both seasons are incredible stories truly speaks to the authors skill.
The farming arc is absolutely perfect. For me the second best arc of Seinen history. This is the reason, whenever anyone mentions a "Vagabond" anime, I get scared thinking how it will be received
Well I love Vinland Saga, but found getting into Vagabond extremely difficult as it was so... Booooring... And confusing? Like I really had trouble understanding why anything was happening and I guess a big part why people like it is that "violence just happens" like it does IRL, but... Maane, for me it's all over the place. Maybe the Anime won't be so confusing for me. And I do have to say that I find medieval Japan very boring, hence why Vagabond's novelty setting did not engross me.
And he didn’t even mention the other great characterization and development like arnheid, ketil, snake, einar, olmar and Canute. This season was just a masterpiece
@@metallol5337I think olmar serves as a parallel to thorfinn if he had a better life. He never had an event in his life that lead him down a path of revenge and murder but rather a slow realization his dream of being a warrior is not worth it whereas thorfinn had to go through those things to realize violence is bad. Olmar will probably become equal to thorfinn in values later in his life
So glad Charlie decided to make a video about this so the show can get more recognition because it deserves it. Thorfinn is anime character for the year and hes in my top 5 list of favorites for sure.
This timing is amazing lmao. Vinland Saga season 1 made it into my top 3 anime. Then I read the farmland saga arc. (Season 2) Loved it watched the first 3 episodes and stopped watching. Just didn’t have much time. But I went and binged the entire season 2 yesterday (day of release for this video before I seen you posted this) and honestly. It is literally phenomenal. Seeing it animated compared to reading it is amazing. Some slight differences but good ones. Every character seemed so deep and fleshed out and paced amazing. How can an author give us so much character depth in every character in 1 season. Everyone on the farm and Canute are such great characters. They really showed depth in even side characters so we’ll. The voice acting was amazing. And something about how the author writes the dialogue. I want to emphasize THE DIALOGUE in Vinland Saga is possibly better than any dialogue in any anime.
@@shazam2323 it’s very well written and intriguing content. Not everyone watches shows for mindless action or comedy. now im remembering more about the article i read, it was saying that the reason they were considering not doing season 3 was because the manga wasn't being purchased enough/getting enough love? kind of odd but I just saw an official twitter post where at the end it says "Thorfinn's journey will continue" so that gives me a lot of hope!
The tonal shift in the manga is pretty apparent in around the times when the two seasons split as well, you can tell that early on in the story, Makoto Yukimura stuck to a lot of tropes of the genre he was writing for, even though it didn't really seem like his style. Once he applied his own style and did away with the things that he might've felt like he "needed" to have in the story, his voice really came through, and the identity of the story became something totally different and unique. It's one of my favorite mangas of all time. Very well done
in his interview with Gigguk, he mentions how many and how much characters are mad FOR Thorfinn. and he specially highlights Askellad. What i got from him when he said that Vinland saga is about Relationship with a father figure, life and death, i came to the conclusion that there were not really tropes at all. the story feels alive and instead of "needed" i got the feeling that they were just right and made sense.
The farming arc is such an impactful character piece. It gave me big Attack on Titan vibes with a heavy action first season and a character developing second season that people get turned off by
No other anime has made me feel like Vinland has. Especially the second season. The second season was so real and human, I’d like to imagine how many thousands of warriors turned slaves lived a life just like Thorfinn’s. It was eerily realistic, probably the best glimpse into the Middle Ages you can get from any show or movie.
I personally think Vinland season 2 is the best story telling in anime history. Compelling characters. Invigorating triumphs and Treacherous downfalls. Beautiful scenes of loss and acceptance that go beyond the boundary of what truly builds a narrative and what we hold as “good” development. Truly a legendary series and my favorite anime of the season and maybe of the last 5 years. Shoutout to those who have no enemies

Just finished Vinland season 2. I actually can’t believe the retards saying it’s bad. It is absolutely amazing. I waited for all of the episodes to come out so I could binge them. If you watch season 1 and then season 2 right after it is the most airtight narrative I’ve ever witnessed. This is one of the most impressive anime I’ve ever seen. I can feel that people aren’t even taking in the deep message this show flawlessly presents. All they care about is “Omg when is thorfinn gonna get angry and look badass again, this season is boring! dropped!” At this point in the story,Thorfinn grows up. He’s outgrown his animosity towards the world. This is a classic case of audience immaturity. Classic weebs doing what they do best. Sitting on their ass living their lives through a character, and when that character actually matures they cannot no longer emulate them due to the maturity they lack themselves.
Calling people retards and going on a rant means you havent really taken the messages of the show into your own life. You are right in what you say, but I just found it a bit ironic how you did it
Hahaha cope I watched both season in 1 week S1 took 2 days, 5 days to sit through the most boring piece of media I ever watched in s2 I'm glad so many people dropped the show all together we will never come back
I just finished season 2 and I thought it was way better than season 1, which was also great. It was so moving and different to other popular animals atm. The writing and character development is unreal.
*YES, season 2 was slow but I loved every second.* the idea of someone taking your fathers life isn't something anyone wants to think about and I'd hope not to many would relate. Watching the show gave me closure and I'd love to know more about the creators and what really inspired them to make this, they're part of the reason my mental state isn't at an all time low. growing up, my dad always talked about never hurting anyone and just being a kind person as you go through life. I'm glad my dad is still around but their was a time in my life when I wasn't sure if he was going to live and that was around the same time that the first season of Vinland came out. so at first I needed to feel angry at something and that's EXACTLY what the first season did, the second season came around just in time for me to start letting go of others actions and how they affect my family. having the main character searching for peace is the best possible outcome they could've chosen, it feels so real and even though his goal is implausible by himself, every decent person only wants that. a long, fruitful, peaceful, life. I gotta look up the creators after this dude you just reminded me how much I appreciate the writers dude. this paragraph doesn't even remotely give enough definition as to how much it actually impacted me. more than I deserve, that's for sure.
Ah man. Glad you agree, I feel the same way. Vinland Saga is a masterpiece. To have an anime where every single character in the arc changes for the good, is something I've never seen.
Some may think that Vinland Saga’s theme is trite and that they’ve seen it before but the execution is exceptional. I don’t know how to properly phrase this, but it’s the best possible ‘version’ of the theme. It doesn’t miss in its message. If you enjoy character-driven stories that are about death and destruction, despair and regret, sadness and rebirth, I can’t recommend Vinland Saga enough.
It's a theme that we've seen before, but the way it's portrayed through Viking culture, a race of people who revere violence and war and how slavery is just something that can happen to you on one unlucky day when one Jarldom raids another is definitely a unique outlook on the theme. And then there's a character like Thorfinn who just completely rejects Viking traditions and their lifestyle, not out of converting to Christianity or finding God but because of a secular sense of morality and empathy towards the people he himself had victimized in his early life. The whole concept works beautifully and is somehow something new and compelling.
My wife introduced me to Vinland Saga one night and we’ve caught up through the 2nd season hoping we’d get another one today. Thorfinn’s story is so damn good. They really nailed turning points for characters like Canut, Askeladd and even more in season 2. I’d say this is really an underrated anime.
So after watching this video, i decided to give vinland saga a shot. Season 1 plot about revenge wasn’t necessarily the first time ive seen about it. But throughout season 1, we saw depth behind the characters were going through with the raids and the politics. For season 2, it did a full 180. From some kid who is filled with anger and rage to kill the man he’s been essentially living with and killing for to then become someone who lost themselves as a person who wants redemption from his sins and becomes a pacifist, it was one of the most emotional journies i have witnessed. I binged season 2 in about 2 days and i cried in total of 10 times. Thorfinn is different compared to the other characters we have seen in naruto, one piece, bleach, dbz, AOT, etc. The anime is definitely up there to be one of the best written stories. I believe this is a great recommendation for people who love philosophical animes where it requires critical thinking and compassion. Thank you charlie for speaking about this anime ❤
Season 2 was absolutely phenomenal, all these braindead 2 second attention span dinguses calling it boring are stoned to the gills. The writing and character arcs are carefully crafted and each one ends with such emotional weight that I was stunned. The directing especially is so intentional and meticulous, can’t wait for season 3!
The short attention-span kids think anime is all about wooosh katana-slice, kiyaa-yamates, waifus, harems, and school shenanigans. Nah, imma stick with anime that tries to tell an interesting story, like Vinland.
@@veggsbacon1891what an intersting story. 200 chapters summarized: -child -very mad, starts killing everyone -reason for living doesnt exist anymore, depressed -180 into becoming a saint in a single episode -jesus christ i have no enemies for the rest 100+ chapters where he visits his family and moves to vinland and prevents wars, fantastic story
I was just talking about this. The Dialogue and character development was some of the best I’ve ever seen in an anime. It had me thinking all philosophical and emotional. Fantastic

It's a shame it didn't have as much hype as the first season...
its because there wasnt too much action like in season 1 but that doesnt make it bad.

I think the change in thorfinn, from being raised as "The son of Askeladd" back to being "The son of Thors" is what makes this season great.

@@ixnexusFor real. I might start forgiving my bullies and start being kind to everyone. Like Jesus taught us to ❤
The slave ark was probably one of the best arks in the manga. Some of those panels actually blew my mind out of my head
Then how are you here?
@@reanukeevesauLook at this guy. The future comedy king I tell ya! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

When Thors said to Thorfinn you have no enemies that was the line that made me a true vinland saga fan
it drives in nuts that people dont see why the second season is such a masterpiece
Your wife has great taste in anime
Canut character was the worst and weak point , he turned from a very coward man to a brave leader in half an ep
@@kingdoom5022yeah that whole revelation to him going from soy boy pussy to becoming an enlightened saint was a bit out of left field
I don’t understand how people found this boring, these episodes FLEW BY

@@veggsbacon1891what an intersting story. 200 chapters summarized:
-child
-very mad, starts killing everyone
-reason for living doesnt exist anymore, depressed
-180 into becoming a saint in a single episode
-jesus christ i have no enemies for the rest 100+ chapters where he visits his family and moves to vinland and prevents wars, fantastic story
Best season of TV I think I’ve ever experienced. Season 2 was a life changing masterpiece
I'm glad Charlie also likes Vinland Saga and recommends it to a lot of people in this video.
Such an underrated anime everyone needs to watch.

My buddie just had me watch season two episode 1 like a asshole while chilling I never heard of it
@reese2038 Well at least u realised before any major spoilers appeared.
Anime gave me a different view of life 😭
Nah fr that crap really changing people's life's 😂😂😂
I was just talking about this. The Dialogue and character development was some of the best I’ve ever seen in an anime. It had me thinking all philosophical and emotional. Fantastic
Character development is great, the dialogue is extremely repetitive though, I swear thorfinn and einar talked about the same thing like a dozen times.
@@pedroaldrete2994 "I swear thorfinn and einar talked about the same thing like a dozen times" about what topic? Every episode had new things so I never noticed them talking about something dozens of times.
@@pedroaldrete2994well you have to realise they have been taking about it for 3 years, it’s important to look at time too
Might be the best character development and story of an anime i’ve ever seen
