Cold turkey 7 days today after 23 years(scary that I can't even comprehend how I got here), have tried before but never went past 3 days. Point 6. Avoid Triggers(anxiety, stress, etc) has been my major hurdle, had to identify and write them down and how to tackle them every day...taking vitamin C, green tea, and jogging ...at the moment I have zero cravings, and am taking it a day at a time...All the best to everyone else on this Journey

My quit day is the 28th of January. I'm going to give it all I've got! My health is declining because of smoking and I want to live a long, healthy life without smoking. Thank you for the advice!

It is still early to get easier I think that maybe first 2-3 weeks are the toughest but you can get through that. After that maybe like 2 more months (not as hard as first 2-3 weeks) to start making 'not smoking' a new habit of yours You can do it. It's a matter of mindset.

@@DrODonovan Me, too! I tried quitting over 200 times. Not sure but think it was due to the sublimal tape I listened to for 2 weeks at bedtime (falling asleep listening to that tape) prior to quitting for good. I remember one phrase from that tape: "I now breathe in clean fresh air." I wonder if that type of sublimal technique is still available to people. P.S.: I must admit I worried the tape might make me "quack like a duck" but it didn't!!!

Still smoke free! So super happy, the smoke free app has really helped me. I never thought that this would be possible. Everyday I would say okay tomorrow but thankfully my tomorrow came. My suggestion if it helps,🎉 distract yourself in the places where you know you will miss smoking (in the car, after meals) I distracted myself by listening to motivational stories on RUclips or podcasts.
P.S thanks Doc your video may have saved my life, at the very least it changed my life greatly. Words have power! Next target run a marathon figured if I could quit smoking anything is possible

As a person who has gone 2 years completely off tobacco/nicotine, I think this is the best such video I've seen so far. (I just decided to check out a few, since I'm coming up on 2 years). But yeah, that thing about understand your WHY is how I did it, and it really wasn't even very difficult this time, despite having tried for about 30 years.
@julzthelupie6081 I just thought it's clearly not a wise thing to do. And I wanted my kids to think of me as a person who behaved wisely. I felt that I couldn't consider myself wise while doing something so indefensible. So I stopped and never looked back. I never even really had much of a craving, despite the fact that I had tried dozens of times to quit for 20 years.
I am 20yrs old and I started smoking when I was around 17 but it happend spontaneously back then. Last year I started to become a heavy smoker, smoking 3-5 cigarettes plus cannabis. I always knew that smoking was harmful but it made me feel like I was a man, being seen smoking by other people gave me this aura and feeling of being a man. I tried quitting before but I would not last long, longest streak was 1month and a few days. Today 01/01/2025 I affirm that I quit smoking for my own well being and for the youth as I aspire to lead the youth one-day. May God give me and you the strength to overcome our thoughts that lead us to temptation and may he bless our journey, in the name of Jesus Christ our lord and savior...Amen!
Started smoking 2 years back to calm my mind as too much was going on, but as months progressed I started doing it more and more and more and now I've reached a point where 3 to 4 cigs are normal and really it makes me feel miserable. So guys wish me luck, from today I quit as well.
I'm doing it this time, I swear to all of the above it's happening. Quit date February 1st. Good Luck to all others who are giving it a go again! Update: 2 months no smoking!! Anyone who thinks they can't you can! You have to believe it! It's all psychological!
my quit date is February 25th. After nearly a decade of being an alcoholic and smoker I quit drinking July 17th 2023, now its time for the cigarettes to go to. Mostly for health reasons but saving money is always nice to and its quite a bit of money at that. I want to treat myself better because I deserve it!
My dad smokes and I’ll be moving back in with him. I had to stay the night due to my apartment getting work done and just stay that night I feel the effects. I want to encourage quitting. For my bf and my health my dogs and his.

Today is my day y’all. I’m gonna have my last cigarette hopefully in my life. It’s been 6 years, I don’t know how I started but I did. I don’t want to die an early death and I don’t want to feel like I can’t breathe when doing exercise. Good luck to everyone else’s journey

Well done. This is great
Thank you doc for your insights, very helpful
How is it going? Are you still not smoking?
You got it
Are you still not smoking?
Congratulations to all the help quit smoking. We all care about you. I wish you luck. I have to stop it’s my turn to try to quit. I have a lot of stress at work and at home. I don’t want to use this as an excuse. I’m 64 years old and it’s time. wish me luck
My quit day is the 28th of January. I'm going to give it all I've got! My health is declining because of smoking and I want to live a long, healthy life without smoking. Thank you for the advice!
You’ve got this Tina. I believe in you.
Me too, my quit day is the 28th, I hope I'll succeed and hopefully to be a better role model for my children. Thanks for the advice man
Hey! That’s today. F*ck smoking, im quitting today too.
Bet everyone here is still smoking
How’s it going
From today I’m starting…guve me strength doctor & god
I started my journey 6 days ago ( it's passed midnight so I guess this is day 7 ) I thought it would get easier as time goes but it seems to be getting more difficult. So I decided to check some tips and tricks to maybe help. I'm at 1:48 just listening to the advice.
It is still early to get easier
I think that maybe first 2-3 weeks are the toughest but you can get through that. After that maybe like 2 more months (not as hard as first 2-3 weeks) to start making 'not smoking' a new habit of yours
You can do it. It's a matter of mindset.
@@danicaacimovac6551 Appreciate it! I'm on day 10. The cravings are endless but I haven't given in yet... fml
Dry fasting helps me a lot to quit smoking ❤
Liking this comment will keep reminding me of my goal to stop smoking

Smoking is the hardest hurdle I ever faced in my life. It plays words with my mind, giving me negative emotions that ware me down. I don’t knows whether I will be able to quit after watching this video. But I truly wished it to happen.
I believe in you.
If you have the will power you can.. Its easier than people think, and once you quit, you can't believe you ever smoked 😊

Did you start smoking again? I noticed you stopped updating a week agoz
I'm 19 and been smoking for about 5 to 6 years, my lungs haven't been 100% so I'm giving It my all to quit, only 4 hours In right now, and am f'n dying for a cigarette. But pushing through it, y'all got this!
bro how are u? please respond im a bout to lose my mind
@@amirularief5606Bro I haven’t smoked since that comment, and it’s been great, so much energy my lungs I feel I can breathe better already, and more stamina. The first couple days is the hardest like first 3 days you’ll be craving after you eat, when you wake up, when you’re bored. But you just have to fight through it. The cravings will go away soon , I still get cravings but not that often. It’s worth it bro. Just gotta push through.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING PEOPLE QUIT SMOKING WITH THIS VLOG.
I QUIT IN 1991. LOVE BEING FREE OF SMOKING.
That’s amazing - congratulations!! 1991 and still going strong. Proud of you.
I stopped smooking yesterday and drinking too
For anyone who’s trying to quit this year I wish you the best of luck stay strong.
Today 04-01-2025 @15:52 is my last cigarette.
I relapsed today after 12 hours … but I’ll try again
Praying for all of us.😊
Already quit smoking once for 6 years, then I fell for it again for the last 4 years. I realised quitting again feels so much harder but today I want to commit for good! Wish me luck 🍀

Gonna start using the patch for a bit too. Gonna see if that helps.
Good luck to all those out there who are on the same journey as me.

I'm wishing anyone on here luck. I think you've got this. I was so mad about cigarettes I called the tobacco company the lady that answered the phone could care less. 😊
why u called the company?
@amirularief5606 I was just upset that cigarettes can be sold but yet cause so much damage. Idk what the purpose. I just don't like cigarettes and wish I didn't know them.
@@Luckyone-gg1cv yeah bro cigarete did so many damage. many fall for it temptation. one of the reason cigarettes can continue to be sold because it get many demand and some people want to make money out of it
Step 8 was especially helpful. I have quit successfully and feel great being smoke free. I do have occasional relapses though; for me, it's when I drink alcohol. I now know what to do. Thank you for the video!
It's a pleasure.

I smoked for 49 years and last year I had Covid and quit cold turkey. I was so sick and hospitalized, and the doctors didn’t think I wouldn’t recover, but I fought hard and recovered. I was discharged after 8 days and that was the last time I smoked. It was rough quitting, but I did it.
That’s amazing. Well done - I’m sure this is one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.
Cheryl is such a smokers name
@Cian-ph1cv I've never heard of a smokers name. Have you known someone named Cheryl that smoked? My sisters name is Cheryl, and she's the last person in the world that would ever smoke.
Yeah the last time I quit I had bronchitis so bad and couldn't even draw a puff. So it was easy to quit.

Well here goes nothing. Thanks Doctor
One last note which helped me, accept that it is okay to feel depressed while stopping. It’s like saying goodbye to a friend but time heals all and truthfully I don’t miss it.
I'm 44 now & healthy...never had any health problems till date.....been smoking 15-20 cigs per day since i was 22 .. tried quitting twice in last few yrs but failed.... contemplating to give it a serious go one last time..... Starting from tomorrow.....Hope it goes well

Thanks for sharing. What made it easier? Was it your Why or something else
I started when I was your age and been trying to quit every since. I'm 42 now. You're young please quit now. Smoking is my only regret in life.
I quit on the 1st of february and mever relapsing again!
Don't give up soldiers it will be worth it !
Awesome stuff
Started smoking 2 years back to calm my mind as too much was going on, but as months progressed I started doing it more and more and more and now I've reached a point where 3 to 4 cigs are normal and really it makes me feel miserable.
So guys wish me luck, from today I quit as well.
3-4 cigs a day your not considered a smoker
I'm doing it this time, I swear to all of the above it's happening. Quit date February 1st. Good Luck to all others who are giving it a go again!
