Im binge watching your older videos, heck who am I kidding, Im watching ALL your vids! I’m going to try this tomorrow! Thank you sweet pea! Love you and praying for you and your precious family.
Well my son just finished our 2nd attempt at canning... 5- pint and a half jars, and 10 pint jars ( we tripled your recipe)... of Blueberry Jam.. It came out Fantastic!!!!!. I am going into the hospital on tomorrow... and he knew I had wanted him to try your recipe..
Thankyou Heather. I’m 75 and Learning. I’m a blueberry lover. Family canned but I didn’t learn when younger. I was confused about pectin- how much to add. Waiting for your streusel recipe. My grandma made it too.
When I make jam or jelly, I stir the pectin into cold or room temperature juice or fruit. Then it goes to the stove where I turn it on high and bring it to a rolling boil as rapidly as possible. Dump in my sugar all at once and stir it in while the fruit is coming back to a rolling boil, then stir 1 minute. You don't have to stir hard. Just keep it moving in the pan. The sugar will eventually all melt into the juice. When the minute is up, I turn off the fire (or move it off the stove if electric), pour it into hot jars, top with hot lids/rings, process for the indicated time for the recipe. I've been doing this for many many years and I never have a problem with them setting up right.
It’s wonderful to have you back, it must be very very difficult but you’re doing such a good job! I can’t wait to try your BB jam! Have you tried doing freezer jam? Sometime when you run out of things on your list, try strawberry freezer jam. It’s not cooked at all and not canned, but stored in the freezer. So it taste so fresh!
Hi Heather just wanted to let you know I followed your video for making blueberry jam today and it turned out amazing!!! It was my first time canning it too so I totally understand your nervousness but your step by step instructions gave me encouragement to do it. Thank you so much for all you share and teach us I greatly appreciate you!!! Be blest and keep safe 🙏💕🥰
This is the 1st year I’ve grown enough blueberries to make anything. Searching RUclips for recipes. Grateful I found yours! I know it’s going to be amazing cuz come on! I have used many of your recipes. Your an amazing inspiration and have been for years! Praying for you and your sweet family! 💝
This looks so good. Thank you for sharing. I have to get back to canning like I used to. Missing all the great food I used to can, Zucchini relish, Plum jam, Apple pie filling, and so much more. Thank you for sharing, I am now a new subscriber.
Wow I just found your fantastic channel yesterday. I've been binge watching all day. Every video makes me want to do that recipe fuesr!! How to choose? You have given this 70yr. Great Grammie a way to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks!! Thank you so very much.
I'm back Heather, thinking of you. Don't tell my husband but I think I'm getting addicted to canning, and your videos. Lol. Seriously, tonight I'm making your Christmas jam, and this blueberry jam. My brother and my dad in Wyoming need these, if nothing else for tangible, mailable "i love you". Have already made your apple pie filling, going to send some of that too. Dad loves apple pie. Can't wait to send it!!
This looks delicous. We have a place called Panola Orchard that is you pick: blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. They also sell fresh peaches and tomatoes. I cant wait for harvest time this year. Thank you for your videos. God Bless.
This is the first time I am watching. I just lost my Mom a couple months ago and my wife a couple of years ago. I was sorry to hear of your loss and wish you recovery and send my condolences. May God give you strength during these difficult times. Please be well.
I LOVE watching you and Linda's Pantry videos.... The two of you have got me started on canning and dehydrating. I used to go down to my Grandmothers for the summers and had watched her can and freeze all my childhood. I am over fifty now and have had a pressure canner that i couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong. After watching you and Linda, it was operator malfunction. LOVE YOUR JELLY videos i will be trying the clover one once the clover starts to pop up :) Thank you for your time doing the videos
New subscriber here. I started water bath canning 2 years ago and have one jar left of blueberry jam in my pantry. Well time to make some more which took me on the quest to find a good video. Thumbs up.
This looks so good. You make it look really easy. I have never canned anything but I've really been wanting to try. Thanks so much for sharing this!! I really love watching your videos. :) -Emily
Good job heather this video was awesome to watch. Super easy steps and I think I could even do it lol. Looks great I love the consistency of the jam. I hope to see the other videos soon and hope you got your swim in
I picked tons of wild Michigan blueberries, when I was younger, off Greenwood Road, every summer. We had a summer place up there. Nothing like Michigan blueberries! Delicious! I made pies with them, Yummy! Shared them with all the neighbor's. 😀. Love all your videos, you need to monetize them to get paid by RUclips. Cyndi, Sunny Florida
Making blueberry jam today with my 2 granddaughters ages 9 & 8 Teaching them as much as i can .... God bless you Josette Tharp Montgomery County , Texas 🙏🏻
Yummy, I need to make up some more soon, and need to make more grape jelly to and strawberry jam soon as find some good deals on nice strawberries lol, everyone loves homemade jams and jellies, love your channel
That was one of the things I did learn from your videos that the box equals six tablespoons of the jar. I also bring you in the kitchen when I do the jellies, turn my iPad onto your video and we're cooking together in the kitchen. It's been a lot of fun. I haven't looked at your new video on the bread making, but as soon as I get this batch of blueberry jelly made I'll be watching it. Thanks again
awwwww that means so much to me, thank you. you are going to love this jam. even my ex husband loves it when i send a jar down to his house with the boys. hahahaha i like to add a little to my yogurt.
Oh now I must try this! I have a new Ball Electric Water Bath Canner/ Multicooker and made my first batch of Salsa yesterday. Next Will try THIS recipe. Thanks!
I watched your video 3 times before attempting. I am now in the process of making and yep i'm watch along with storing. I let you know if I made it correctly or not. I excited to see how it will turn out.
I hope your recooperation is going well. I miss you! Blueberries will be in season soon. Definitely doing some canning! Can't wait. Love you Heather!! ❤. 5/12/21
Yes, you added the sugar right. When I make jams and jellies, I sometimes feel like my shoulder is going to fall out having to stir and stir, and stir some more. 😋😘
I am thinking a toasted bagel, with cream cheese and blueberry Jam on it, and a cup of hot tea. Maybe down the road you could do a live cook along video. You tell us what we will need, and the we could cook along with you. "rolls eyes" That probly made no sence, It's late and I have to work in the am. I am looking forward to the next video.
I have a fabulous Blueberry pie recipe and I used it to make jam. I keep about half aside. I cook down the rest. When I get ready to can, I put the rest in the cooked blue berry. Careful to not smash the raw berries. This is great because you get a burst of yummy and it worked out beautifully.
very slick... i know you talked about your processor, but did not realize you had gotten it! michigan blue berries are the best! love it when they pop!
I searched for Strawberry jam and checked out America's Test Kitchen. They used 1 granny smith apple greated in place of pecten wondering if you might eant to try it. A lot less expensive.
I've always used wild Maine blueberries 9my sister in law is from Cherryfield Maine )I've always started with the recipes in my certo pkg.and just substituted the amount of their berries with whatever I have.
Oh wow really want to make this jam! But the smoke detector beeping is freaking my dog out! Wish you had the recipe listed somewhere that could follow! She is an old dog and I am retired so can't really follow as I have to stay close to her. She has seizures. Maybe I can have someone print out the recipe for me. I love your channel and have been subscribed for a long time. I am glad to see your recovery and hope your leg issues will get better. You remain in my prayers Heather.
unfortunately i can't see the video when i answer comments. if you are referring to my big belly pot that is super old. 25 years. 😆 it was from my first pot set when i was newly married at 21yrs old. so i have no clue. 🤣🤣🤣
One thing about lemon juice -- it can settle as it sits in the bottle. I hope you're shaking it first. Yeah I think you're stirring it good enough. If you stirred any harder I think you'd make a mess :) Try making beer. You have to stir for 30 minutes straight. Nope, can't see inside the jars either way, but the extra light makes a lot of shadows go away.
So how did the blueberry jam taste? Am gonna attempt to make my first batch of jam ever in a day or so. Very nervous! I've never done jam.. Just vegies and pickling .
My grandmother used to make the best jams and jellies, my favorites were apricot pineapple and her plum. She used to use wax on top before she sealed them. Also used old pickle or mayo, she recycled jars. Question is can i use recycled jars i have been saving them, and do you know why she used the wax, i was young and a teenager, so i don't remember. She did wipe them down.
Question: Would it possibly be better to just can whole blueberries which requires little to no sugar. Then when you want to make some jam, just make it fresh with much less sugar or can them in smaller batches. I would love to hear your thoughts
John Bowers that would be a lot of extra work. i dont know about you, but i dont have time or energy to make single jars of jam. i am lucky with 5 kids, soon to be 6, to find time to make jam in big batches. HAHAHA i do know there are many recipes out there, low sugar/no sugar included. you definitely do not have to follow the recipe i used. :) sugar is a preservative..... also remember, when you eat jam, you are eating very little. 1 tsp-1tbs a serving on toast or a sandwich. So in the big picture, its not very much. You can preserve blueberries, but most are still canned in a sugar syrup for preserving. i say do some research and choose the best option you are comfy with. :D I LOVE this recipe, so do my kids as well as the people I have gifted it to. Its nice having the jam already prepared on on the shelf to use. And I would definitely pick my own, if that were option for me. i would grow my own if i could. :D one day!!!!
You can put vinegar in your hot water bath and it will clean your jars to. Ps when you put your water in your pot put 2 tablespoons of vinegar in it . I just thought I would let you know
Made preserves : blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and cherries. Used honey, a little bottled lemon juice, chia seeds to thicken. Delicious and Healthier version. Experiment that went well!
You need to change your battery on your smoke detectors. I hear it beeping. Thanks for posting this. I want to make some as soon as possible. I love blueberry anything.

If you freeze your berries first they will give you more juice . Also you can bring to a boil and mash with a potato masher.
How come or were u supposed to add a pt of butter or did I miss that? Pat of butter
I learned about the bottled lemon juice for making jam from your videos ... thank you.

Thankyou Heather. I’m 75 and Learning. I’m a blueberry lover. Family canned but I didn’t learn when younger. I was confused about pectin- how much to add. Waiting for your streusel recipe. My grandma made it too.

yeah i shook it real good when i took it from the cupboard. it was a fresh, new bottle! :D OMG, 30 min straight? I would melt. LOL
Tried grape jelly one time - we had blueberries in our Cape backyard.
Doing your playlist.😀
So how did the blueberry jam taste? Am gonna attempt to make my first batch of jam ever in a day or so. Very nervous! I've never done jam.. Just vegies and pickling .
Ahh Blueberries and Raspberries are my 2 most favourite fruits.
She did wipe them down.
wax was the old school way. 😆👍🏻 we use lids and bands now. most recycled jars do not fit a canning band in my experience. the screw top is different.
Your grandmother probably seal her jams only with the wax. It prevents any mold on top of the jellies or jams.
Question: Would it possibly be better to just can whole blueberries which requires little to no sugar. Then when you want to make some jam, just make it fresh with much less sugar or can them in smaller batches. I would love to hear your thoughts
