- Опубликовано: 5 окт 2024
- An Apple and Pear simple syrup to be used in tea, on pancakes, biscuits.... or add pectin and turn it into jelly. The taste is LOVELY and it is completely made of SCRAPS!!!! Garbage!!!! The peels and cores you would normally throw in the trash. Cost: about $3 in sugar and a little bit of time. That's it.

You have been blessed by God Almighty, Heather. Seriously!.I thank God for bringing you into my life and everyone else's! Continued success with all the therapies to you and all your kiddos, child of God!
Oh my I never saw this one. I have to save peels. This is fantastic. I’m only 6 years late. Get well soon. ❤️
I haven't seen it before either and I just put a huge bag if peels and stuff in my freezer.
I just watched this today. I was thinking after I strain out the peels, I can get one more use by feeding them to my chickens. 💖
God bless you Heather!
I'd use it in place of water when you make oatmeal. Yum.
Yummmmmm!!!!!
Sounds delicious!
Oh that's sounds yummy
I added pectin to my juice and it made a very tasty jelly. I will be making it again before the end of the month so I can give it as gifts.
That would be awesome to pour over ham or pork roast while it’s baking. Also, add some peppers for heat and jelly it. Awesome flavor combos! For nothing! Amazing. 👏🏻💕🇺🇸
Your such a lovely lady n great canner / homesteaders GODBLESS sweetie
Hello, love your channel. I froze all my apple peels from my apple pie filling recipe I did in June. I decided to try your recipe for the pancake syrup. Awesome Sauce!! came out awesome, 12 pints, the only thing I did different I added 2 cinnamon sticks and I added some ultra jell to thicken the syrup. I used only 5 cups sugar, it was sweet enough. the end product was unbelievable. Will use them for gifts together with your pancake mix. I'm very happy with the outcome of this syrup and its taste. This is a keeper. Blessings, Laura M
So you basically made a completely different recipe then!
How much ultra jell did you add? This sounds great.
Would love your receipt on how to make jam and syrup
The more I watch you the more I love you! God Bless your Family!
I would switch it out and add some tea bags around the syrup jars with a note on how to make thicker pancake syrup that way you get those of us who may not think of using the syrup to do double duty - I have a steamer juicer (bought the cheapest one $60) as I make alot of crabapple and rhubarb jelly and juice to drink. It breaks down the fruit without you having to strain it. I convert the fruit to juice then freeze it until I am ready to make the jelly. Your video is so great, it shows all steps and it was nice to hear the "pings"
those pings are the best! whats so nice about processing 30 jars, is the sound of 30 pings! HAHAHAHA and great idea about the tea bags!!!
The smell, the color, the fhriftyness, the flavor, quality..... the feeling of accomplishment...can't compare to buying it at the store....though truth be told unless you go to a speciality shop you won't find it.
no one could have said it better! :D
i am thinking this might be perfect to pop open, and pour into a pretty bottle, and keep at the bar or beverage table during the holidays. Every good cocktail needs a simple syrup.... and whats better than an apple pear simple syrup without any additives? hahaha
@@TheKneadyHomesteader oh yeah, in the making of it add apple pie spice blend and then pack it in that special bottle you're talking for the coffee bar. A nice apple pie ala mode coffee. Use it to flavour the coffee then top the coffee with steamed milk. Beautiful autumn treat.
Thanks for sharing; did it thicken up after it cooled down. You are so much fun to listen to your giggling with your work.
So thrifty, and so pretty! I'm going to start saving my peels so I can try this!
I love hot tea. Thanks for teaching us this. A pancake kit is a clever gift. We appreciate your ministry.
Thanks for watching!🥰🙏🏻 God Bless.
@@TheKneadyHomesteader do you have an email address?
I make my crab apples jelly the same way except that i boil it 35 to 40 minutes and i do the spoon in the deep freeze ,no pectine. Its just so good at breskfest time with boil eggs....you have very good recepies love that i found you two days ago...:)
I use this method with peach peels and pits 2 years ago.
I'm watching on tv and commenting on my phone this looks easy and 😋
Continuing to watch your playlist.
Your instructions are so easy to understand. Thank you.
I just did this with my apple scraps! I’ve got half a gallon of juice in the freezer to process later. I was gifted boxes and boxes of apples. I made 19 pints of apple butter, dehydrated 7 quarts of apple slices and then the half gallon of juice from scraps to make apple jelly later.
This is beautiful!!!! I freeze my peelings and fruit scraps too. For jams and jellies and syrups and for making juice!.... the possibilities are endless! Waste not want not! ❤️
Always used them for feeding chx and pigs. Don't have those this season in life. So, been tossing those and feeling bad about it. I know there's nutrition in there and I don't like them going to waste. That's a lot of nutrition and money hitting the landfill. So glad so thankful I came upon this vlog.
Glad I read your message. Aside from apple and pear what other ones do you use?
How awesome is this! Very smart way of utilising scraps heather. It looks fantastic
Awwwww... how sweet of hubby to help you! I really enjoyed watching this and you got a big haul from those scraps. Good for you!
over in uk we call it compost jam but can also dehydrate peels add to sugar and grind up as a sweet pepper
Sweet pepper beautiful
Many healing prayers for you and your family🙏🙏🌻🌻❤️
I am a new sub going through and watching all your wonderful videos :)
As you mention thickening on the stove top before using I was thinking you can add some cinnamon and spices and top off with some toasted or praline pecans when serving.
that sounds incredible!!!!
I'm collecting scraps nicely now! Got an Apple Slinky-corer-slicer for my birthday and I've already got a good collection going in the freezer!!! Great video Heather. 🍎🍏
I love this recipe I made it with just apples and it was a huge hit, tonight I am making it with apple and pears and I have twice as much as you had when you started so I am excited about what I am going to get out of it! Thanks so much!
I'm so happy to see 201K subscribers!! How exciting!
Started saving my peels today, can't wait to make this!!
This is awesome cuz you can use it to replace honey in recipes!!! Even bread!!! Ooooh I bet it would be awsome in wheat bread!!
Wow , I wish saw this before throw away my apples peelings. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
Thanks so much. I did this once years ago by accident when attempting to make jelly with scraps and we loved the syrup. I have several gallon bags of Asian pear scraps, getting ready to make this on purpose and I’m glad I found your recipe.
yesterday evening around 7pm I peeled a bunch of pears (from my trees), washed, chopped them up into smallish pieces (peel and core too), put them in my crockpot and turned it on the keep warm setting with about 3 cups of water. This morning I turned the crockpot on high for a few hours then lowered to the low setting . I just got finished making the syrup, tasted it and love it!!! Will absolutely be making more in a few days. I cooked them on low because I had a million other things to get done and just couldnt get to it sooner. But it turned out to be a good thing I guess because the syrup is fantastic.
I made another batch of this today. This time I done it a little different. I put the pears in my blender and pretty much pureed them. Then put in crockpot for a few hours on low (did not add water). I did not have cheese cloth, so I used flour sack material that I got from Sams Club (worked great). Poured the juice into a large stock pot. I decided to add 1/4 cup clear Jell (didnt want to use to much) to see if it would thicken the syrup up a bit more, and it did. It taste the same as the first batch but a bit thicker. I will be doing it this way again next yr.
After letting this syrup sit for a few wks. That that I put the clear jell in got to thick. I will not do that again. When I made the second batch I also made a few jars without the jell, that syrup was just right in consistency but was a bit to tart (next year I will try adding a bit more sugar).
Deliciousness! Thank you, Heather! :)
I can't wait to try this.
wow this is amazing. scraps. I love using up every last piece. thank you
its fantastic over biscuits or in your tea!
@@TheKneadyHomesteader wonderfully blessed by your vlogs.
I have made apple peel jelly before but never thought about adding the pears! Sounds delicious!
Thanks Heather. I pulled out all my peel and started this tonight as here in Ontario Canada it is still cool. with kitchen window open it was perfect. Made casserole, 2 apple crisps, carmel sauce a day this apple syrup.yum! Thank you!
Will start saving my cores and peelings to make this....Thank You Heather.... Prayers for you and your family 🙏🙏🥰
You've given me a great idea. This fall I used my peels and cores to make homemade Apple Cider Vinegar, which takes about 6-8 weeks to process. Still in the middle of the process. Good job girl! Love love love your videos. Next time, I'll save my peels and cores and be sure to make this. I save my scrap veggies to make stock. Have a great Christmas - Alison.
OH now THAT would be a great thing to make.... vinegar! :D
i think i am going to try it as a replacement to corn syrup when i make my maple pancake syrup next! When I do I will record it and we can see together if it works out! hahaha and thanks for watchin', Mama! :D
I almost tossed my peels and cores and just happen to see your video ! Thank you !!! Im a hot tea drinker in the winter !
i absolutely just love this idea . my mother in law does whole fruits such as plums, grapes, pears ,apples and what ever else she has including dried fruits n prunes.she does not drain it . she calls it "compute". she also uses little sugar , it gets thickish from all the fruits staying in there they serve it cold in a wine glass with a little of the boiled fruit in the bottom for there orthodox christmas , which is on january 7th . its traditional . she yells at me cuz i make it for when ever i have a taste for it . you might want to try it its wonderful. i use to make it for my son as a baby but i did strain it for him and called it fruit juice . it's really different n fun to have 2 christmas's , 2 new years and 2 easters ! i am not a good canner !!! tried to make lemon lime orange marmalade once last year. followed the recipe to the tee , now i to have tons of citrus syrup i use in our teas and stuff. but that was a happy mistake and we love it . im so doing this , i bet it will not be like yours i will probably screw it up . GREAT INFORMATIVE VIDEO. you are a great teacher like noreen n bev n linda v !!! ty for sharing this heather . hugs n xx
You must be so strong with all the heavy lifting of these pots!
I personally like the thin syrup. This is just what I want, and will try it today. TKS!!
I hope all is well. I miss your video. Don't rush. Recovery take time. Im revisiting video and binge watching.
Prayers for continued recovery!
I never thought of doing this. Thanks for sharing this with us. ❤️🙂
I'll have to try this. I usually make Scrap Apple Jelly I have pears right now plus Apple Peels in the freezer.
Thank you SO MUCH for the video.
What a wonderful use for apple and pear scraps!
Can't wait til our apples are ripe to try it!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
A quicker way would be to just add straight up apple juice and and cook it into a concentrated mix then add sugar. Like you said about cooking longer you dilute it it also makes it sweeter. This method is also good for using scraps great video
What a beautiful sensible idea.
This is absolutely beautiful!
I bet if you added a bit of brandy or vanilla rum to this Gorgeous syrup and heat a small glass of it up..you would have a homemade hot toddy. Beautiful and now my second freezer is going to hold all my peelings and cores! Whst a wonderful way to use up every bit of fruit!💜💜💜
This sounds like it would be so yummy! Thank you for sharing.
I had enough peels saved to make this today!! I did want to make a jelly, but I added too little pectin, which is a shame. I did get some thick runny honey like substance though, which tastes pretty good. I'm going to use it in my porridge and on pancakes. No more golden syrup for me :-).
Very nice color of your syrup !!!! Going to try it out ... great gift ideas also love the idea of pancake mix with it ! Blessings
Love your Emeril pot... I got the entire set back in 2005 and they are still like brand new... Thanks for all that you share!
not enough thumbs up for this amazing fruit sauce wow love it
Try this with peaches...so good and ppl love this for gifts. I made peach jam once and it did not firm up(did not add enough sugar) and it turned into our year worth of peach syrup! i say if jam doesnt set, eat with pancakes! :P Nice video. Have pears and apples in the orchard...will have to save the peels for this and the pectin. (Yes, you can make your own jam pectin with your peels.) Blessings, sister!
I realize this comment is from 4 years ago, but did you also add the pits, or just the peach peels??
Pour over vanilla ice cream.... DON't eat the entire 1/2 gallon of ice cream!
Great save for the peels. So great instead of throwing it away and spending money on store bought syrups and jellies.
thank you thank you thank you my kids and grand kids love it when i canned it up for them
That looks amazing. Are you definitely videoing your pancake mix recipe? I would love to try it. I get so many good recipes from you. God bless and thank you! 👏🏻🌻👏🏻
pancake mix is up on my channel a few times 😁👍🏻
@@TheKneadyHomesteader this looks like a good topper for pancakes or waffles.
To me this is an amazing video! Continue to be blessed in your healing. God loves you🙏💐😇
I love your videos I love making my own syrups it's so fun and tasty and learning more from watching your wonderful videos when I make my syrup I place spoons in my freezer and boil till the syrup coats the spoon and slides off slowly
Looks so good! Thanks Heather 🙏😊
Great video and information! And ^5 for the hubby who helps with canning, clean up and moving heavy pots around!
Mouse Toes he even washed my canning pot for me! hahaha
+The Kneady Homesteader Wouldn't it be easier and more flavorful and more of an extraction just to throw everything in a crockpot and leave it overnight or even 24 hours then strain? If you don't want cloudy extracts and jelly bags are kinda small for straining some things what I do is buy a cheap pillowcase and use that to extract. Can reuse easy after rising and they are a lot of the time even more effective than say cheesecloth for getting the small particles and can get a really good grip on it. Can just cut however big or small you want. Also paint strainer bags from a hardware store work great too instead of jelly bags and can be bigger also are cheap.
WaterspoutsOfTheDeep
excellent idea!!!!!!!!! thank you! i will try the crock pot next time!!!!!!!!!!
The Kneady Homesteader
No problem! The easier and less work the better lol. Got these ideas from a herbalist. Works amazing for juicing too if you don't have a 300 dollar omega juicer for things like greens you just blend everything and strain and squeeze the juice out with a jelly bag or whatever you have and is just as effective. I think we need to think out of the box more. We have so many little tools and items we can get nowadays in the year 2015 it is amazing.
Also another way to really really clarify a liquid is use coffee strainers. Stick one in a mesh strainer to hold it and pour in it.
you are brilliant! hahaha anytime you have short cuts that can save me time, energy and money, pass them on!!!!!!! i love this! :D
This is awesome I never knew to freeze left over peals.
Thank you.
I bet that smells amazing, I would be tempted to add cinnamon stix and cloves.
I need to make this. Thank you. I know it’s an old video but I’ve been looking for a recipe
Trying to make apple jelly with its own peel pectin, I made a syrup just a little thicker than this syrup. Best pancake syrup ever. If it’s edible there is never a mistake just wonderful things.
so true! i do love it on pancakes and buttermilk biscuits!!!!
I received my all American canner today and shouldn’t be long before my ladle arrives need to get the ball jars and then to find my happy place 🥰
Ack, RUclips ate my comment. Grrr! Wanted to thank you for this video and to say I've canned 14# of apples today into cinnamon red hot slices so the peels are in the stock pot right now simmering with a cinnamon stick. After it reduces a bit I'll add Clear Jel for thickening so I don't lose much volume and have a nice pancake syrup. Thank you for the canning inspiration.
That looked amazing! Question, could you used half as cider? Then rest into making syrup? We love cider here. Hope all is going well with your therapy. :-)
I like the idea of using scraps. Hope you have some other recipes for using scraps.
Watching and praying for you and your family❤❤🤗🤗😇😇
clear jel might be a good option to thicken as well.
I made apple butter out of my peels , cooked them down and pureed them, delicious apple butter
After boiling the fruit down after the first process I will give to my chickens and pigs as they eat stuff like that. Chickens can not tell the difference between sweet hot or any flavor. Thank you Heather. Your amazing. Thanks to your friend.
Was awesome I had to come back and find this recipe I made it a couple yrs ago and finally finished all of it and the family wants more so been saving my peels I tweak it a bit but it taste great.
I am amazed!
I would try this using my fast pressure cooker ...very good use of peels I always wondered how to make use of scraps.
i like that that sounds good will have to do this next year
Beautiful!! What is the n ok use in the background? Do you have a special place you can or do you do in your kitchen? Your dryer! Lol. You are such lovely person. I bake for my mailmen and when I can catch the garbage men. You are great.
Great fun.
Watching your videos today Heather! Blessings! Wendy🌸🐞🧚♂️
I really loved your video and I love the idea that you used scraps I am going to try this myself. I hope you do more videos of this type of thing.....Using scraps! Awsome Thanks
Oh, I'm gonna make apple butter tomorrow, so for sure I'm gonna save my skins for this gorgeous syrup.. It looks absolutely luscious Heather... :o)
Thank you for sharing this video recipe Heather. Yes, we here in the US I think just don't think to use the "scraps" from fruit and veges. Looking forward to trying this recipe to make some jelly I think. Your canning haul looks so beautiful! Certainly time well spent. Thanks again and blessings to you and the family! :-) The Mrs.
THANK YOU Mama! Let me know if you give this one a try. Dying to know what you think!
ooh, sounds delious
Used peels makes good compost.
very cool, I put this one in my favorites
THANK YOU!!!!
Always inspiring me to try something different. Thank you for sharing! By the way, I made chicken and dumplings last night all from my home canned food storage. It was awesome and so easy. Just thought maybe you would want to give it a go... :)
crownroyalchic WAY TO GO!!!!!! Yeahm isnt it nice having fresh yet cooked veggies on hand! So much better than cranking open a metal can. :/ This made my day! :D
I so want to try this!
This was a great demo.
Love all your videos, really miss your signature music at end of the video in your newer videos. 😊😎❤❤🤗
I bet that smells amazing!
Now that's the way to use up those peels. I also save all my veg that's good for stock, I've got 2 big bags full right now, so it's time for chicken and vegie stock.. :o) Do I forget, or have you done a canning vid on stocks Heather? Looking for new baking videos.. Cant's get enough of your bread videos.. :o)
