I let mine sit for 5 min as well after turning off the heat. It is easier to get the jars out when you don’t have a boiling pot to deal with, and it helps to acclimate the jars a bit before you pull them out into the different temperature air so they don’t break. I usually broke 1 or 2 jars every season just pulling them straight out of a rolling boil, and since being told to wait, I haven’t lost a jar yet. Then when I put my next set of jars in, the slightly reduced heat is perfect to acclimatize the jars before getting back to a full boil, especially if I’m cold packing.
Somehow I missed this video before. I'm so glad it popped up. Daddy has white clover growing in his yard. I'm going to tell him tomorrow that I can make him some White Clover Jelly with it. He will get a kick out of that. :-)
Heather, I agree with your friend. I love making these with you, great way of learning. You are a wonderful person and I thank you and Pray for you and your family every day🙏🙏🌻🌻❤️
Ha! I have a whole stash of white clover right now on my counter that my kids picked me for flowers! I was going to throw them out when they weren’t looking, now I’ll send them out for more!!!
Just found this video. I made my 1st batch of clover jelly this morning. It is soooooo good!! I picked 6 more cups of clover for 3 more batches tomorrow. THANK -YOU!!! ITS AMAZING❤❤👍👍
I love your long videos on canning. I did canning from our garden vegetables back in the '70's and need this refresher. You go into such detail and that really helps.
I used to make dandelion honey (jelly) with my kids when they were little. My mother-in-law showed me how as she ate it when she was growing up back in the 1940s-50s. Delicious. I will definitely try this with my grandkids!
This is shaming me that I mowed over all those white clovers!!!😭 I had 4 kids, that would have been so handy. Live and learn. So thankful to be able to go back and watch these. I’m sharing with my girls in hopes they will do this.🥰
Just tried this today. I was so happy with my results! Thank you Heather for the video! Watching you always encourages me to try something new! Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
Awesome video, and I'm so thrilled to see videos like this that feature food ingredients hiding in our own backyards! Last year I picked loads of red clover blossoms and dried them for teas... if I had only known...😊 Well, now I know what to do next summer! Thank you so much and I hope you are well. Many Blessings from Northern Ontario 💗
I make this every year. I've never known anyone else who makes it!!!!! Yay! To me it tastes just like clover honey with a light hint of cinnamon. Superfood.
I love canning thanks to your channel. I would do more if I could afford lots of ball mason jars. I cant get a pressure canner here in England for under £300 as they are sent from USA. Its limiting but meanwhile I'm water bathing everything I can! 😂😂😂😂
I am glad you shared this I am new to canning but i did a red pepper jelly that is to die for and a couple others my blueberry never got think was lose.I use clover as i am a herbalist and i make tintcures and salves and pillows and soap as i am a prepper and i coupon shop to get things for free so I dont have to pay out of pocket when i saw this i was now i am making
Oh Robin, I need you in my life! hahaha OK, just hopped over to sub to you! :D I would LOVE your red pepper jelly recipe! I am heading to the farmers market today, hoping to find blueberries. And clear-jel to make pie filling. Wish me luck. I need to learn more about herbs! they are amazing! I cant wait to watch your videos and learn from you! :D
thank you for sub-ing me! LOL guess what I went and got white cover -yes i have alot of info that will help you and i know we can learn from each other -good luck with finding blue berries -you should try container gardening till you move save you some money
You make me want to buy clover seeds while I wait to complete my canning equipment purchases. Just to let you know, I really enjoy your long videos, I feel like I'm just hanging around killing time with an old friend. 8-)
Awesome... sugar, lemon juice, pectin and the rest comes straight out of your yard or the field next door. Simplicity itself, and they look amazing!! I'd LOVE to see your dandelion jelly now!
Heather you make this look so easy, and that is why I love your videos, because you explain it so even a newbie like me can understand. I am a lot like you. I learn more visually than by book or by just someone explaining it to me. Now as for trying this one, yes we have some clover in the area, but we also have a lot of dogs. I would be afraid of extra flavoring, if you know what I mean..lol see ya in the next video. Jeanie
We usually simmer on stove for 10 minutes, then after ut cools we put in refrigerator for 24 hours. Dandylion is still my favorite here at home. Rose honey, I've added hibiscus ginger loose leaf tea...the roses were just too mild. I always taste the product before soaking overnight. We reserve one cup of sugar and wisk in the pectin to incorporate it into the sugar. Makes adding the pectin and mixing it so much easier into the hot pot. A pat of butter too, then no froth. A dash of vanilla. I just squeeze 1/2 a lemon, so I don't think that would be 1/4c
Heather... have you ever used the dark red/burgundy clover? There is a huge bath near my home and wondered if it would be used. Keep up the good work. I made this last year when I ran across it...and it was wonderful, tasted just like honey to me.
Yes sweetie . It's exactly what I do watch your videos over an over .. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING SO TRUE ABOUT IT ALL...I WOULD LOVE TO START IT MY SELF JUST A LITTLE SCARED TOO....
Heather, I made Constant Comment tea jelly using this steeping method and it is amazing! Have you ever drank Constant Comment tea? It is my favorite and I thought the jelly would be good, too. It is! I used 10 tea bags and let it steep in 4 cups of water for 20 minutes.
Really enjoy your videos! One suggestion I have is: when you're waterbath canning a small batch, place an empty jar in your canner so your jars don;t fall over. For the pressure canner you can process a jar of water for your storage if you have an extra space!
my gawd, you are GENIUS!!!!!! hahaha THANK YOU! I would have never thought of that! And I have heard about canning water...... but never looked into it, and I need to!!!! oh Ginnie, THANK YOU and thanks for watching this lil newbie! hahaha :D
This looks like a really great Channel. I subscribed. I saw you on the mommy Meetup Channel. I am a mom of 4, married to a farmer, in Idaho, & a daily vlogger. Nice to meet you. I try to be self sufficient! I will have a garden video on pretty soon.
I make dandelion jelly..and it tastes like honey..isn't that curious?!?!? can't wait to make this jelly this summer..and compare the flavors!!! thanks for sharing!!
Heather, do you do the dandelion jelly the same as the clover? I love watching your canning videos, you make it seem we are right there with you. I appreciate the long videos, tha t.f way we see exactly how the process works. People who complain aren't forced to watch!! Thank you for your efforts!! I want to get back to canning. I so enjoy it, but have been caring for my mom for the past 3 years. She's in heaven with daddy now so I'm going to try to start again. I've been gathering pint jars for jelly. Have you ever done rose petal jam? It was a favorite of my dad's so I did for him.
Thank you so much for this editorial on how to jam clover but unfortunately I only had old pectin so I used two boxes and I have the wrong size jars so I wound up making only three and the rest I just put in the refrigerator to put in my iced tea. I think it would taste really good that way.THANK YOU❤😁❤😁❤
Heather, my aunt has crimson clover in her yard. It is such a beautiful shade of red--almost has a purple tint to it. She bought some red clover (nitro-coated) seed a few years back and her back yard is really pretty. Can I use the crimson clover for this jelly? Do you think the flavor will be different? Should I just find someone who has the white clover? Most of us (in my family) live in neighborhoods that have the HOA's and their rules for lawns are basically to keep our lawns green and clover-free. I really want to try this and give as Christmas gifts this year. I usually make something to give to all the neighbors on my block (approximately 15 homes on my street) and I my Christmas budget this year, for obvious reasons, is quite a bit less than most years. This seems like it will be perfect for my budget and sounds delicious--so no one will think I was being cheap this year. Any thoughts or tips you can share for making this is greatly appreciated, thx :)
I truly enjoy your How To videos like this because you are so thorough, which I'm definitely appreciative of since I want to learn how to can - these Never seem like "long" videos :-)
WOOHOO! Report Back!!!! LOL add more pectin if you want it set thicker..... mine came out more on the softer set, but i love it because it is thick enuf for biscuits yet not as thick as knifing on a jelly spread!
Your jelly looks and sounds wonderful. I live in Ohio - just got the last bit of strawberries for the season at my local farmer's market. I made strawberry preserves. Do you know how long I should let it sit before trying it?
how cool... we have tons of clover this year... just not sure what if anything has been put on the lawn.... you wear me out with your energy gal... hahaha.... great vid gal...
I'm glad I came across this channel! I love it so far! I do have a question for anyone that may want to answer. I've made dandelion syrup and jelly. It looks like this recipe is VERY similar to the dandelion jelly I made. Is it true that all the jellies are made the same way just using the flower of your choice? Thank you for any replies.
I love your long videos. I listen to them all day at work. Would you ever sell & ship your jellies? I'd love to buy some to sample...before making a huge batch! :D
you are too sweet! i was thinking about sending a couple of my jellies/jams as part of the giveaway...... i will have to see how much it costs to ship and if i can package them in a way that will make traveling safe for the glass. I will keep you posted on that! :D
Couple things to help out...you don’t have to put your bands in hot water and there’s really no need to do a water bath. Fill the hot jars ,put on lids and tighten bands and turn them upside down for 15 minutes then turn them right side up and let them sit until you hear them “ping” when they cool and seal. This will save a few steps. You can also just use a damp cloth to wipe the jar rims..no need to use vinegar.
Open kettle canning (which is what this method is) is not recommended and hasn't been for a long time. Do whatever you want in your kitchen, but please don't recommend unsafe methods to newcomers who may not know any better. If anyone wants to know why it's unsafe, Google it. There is no shortage of info.
Your enthusiasm is contagious and appreciated. That clover jelly would be so good, who would have thunk it lol. Thank you for another great video packed with great info. Mrs. Tc
Thanks TC! :D Nature is a beautiful thing. It is sad the picking time is so short. Next year I really have to get cranking quicker so I can get more jars canned. haha
Now I can't wait til spring to go out into the yard to pick some clover blossoms. Of course my daughter will tell me I should have left them for the bees....lol. There's enough to go around....
I don't use the water bath because if you turn the jars upside down for 5mins. and then turn them back over they seal every time and a lot quicker and easier.
Don't worry about the amount of sugar... they add a ton more of the stuff to pretty much all processed foods. Traditional cooking like this is much healthier, after all it's not like your going to be dumping whole jars of this jelly into each and every meal you serve.
Hey Star! This canner in this video is just a basic water bath canner..... they sell them for $20 at Walmart. AND pot with a lid that is deep, like a big stock pot, can be used to water bath can jelly. You dont need anything special. This one is nice because of the BIG size. I also use an All American 921 model Pressure Canner and I absolutely LOVE it! The pressure canner can double for both pressure canning and water bath canning, so keep that in mind. You dont need 2 like I have. :D
Hi! Am hoping you are still responding to these. I made this last week, and it didn't set up at all. It was basically like water. I used one box of pectin. So tonight, I did it again, cooking it much longer after adding the pectin. But it still wouldn't set up. So, added more pectin. Then more, and more. Now, it's basically a solid mass. Where is the middle ground?? HELP!!
+Julie A yes! 😁👍🏻 the best way to check the "set" and finding one you like, is take a cold spoon (you can even set it in the freezer) and dip it in your jelly when you are hard boiling it. Let it cool for a few seconds and take a look at the set. If it sticks nicely on the spoon and has a great consultancy you will be happy. If it's watery you will know it! Also buying pectin in bulk to me is better than box in envelopes. You can add a tablespoon at a time as needed. You will find you may need to tweak every recipe if you are using real fruit because it will always change. The only jelly that stays consistent is when using bottled juice. But jams and jellies will always be a tad different. The more you make it the more you will see the results you're looking for.
The Kneady Homesteader Thank you! I will try the spoon trick on the third try. I was using pectin from a bottle, but tablespoon by tablespoon, I pretty much used the whole bottle! Luckily, there is plenty of clover to try it again. thanks for your response and for the tip!
With all the extra cooking, is your energy bill any higher than it was this time last year? I wonder if the non-white clovers are ok to use. You forgot to use the green headspace thing after the first jar :P I believe him about the cinnamon taste. Have you ever had clover sprouts? They're spicey. Perfect ending :)
Google has given away many pairs of google glass to big RUclipsrs & they hardly ever use them. I wish they gave you a pair. It would come in so handy for cooks like you. You wouldn't have to place your camera down and you could use both hands while cooking.
I'm not sure, but that's what I've heard too They also call it vegan honey I wonder if it's a natural home made corn syrup? The pain would taking enough corn off cobs to do it. If you want a good video on see Grandma Cheap Cheap here on YT
It’s amazing going back and watching your videos when you were new to canning and then knowing where you are now. It is truly inspiring 💗
I love it no matter how long. I learn better by watching like you.

It is beautiful that you show your REAL working kitchen instead of the ridiculously, unrealistically clean show kitchens you see in too many videos.

I make this every year. I've never known anyone else who makes it!!!!! Yay! To me it tastes just like clover honey with a light hint of cinnamon. Superfood.
Great! I had never heard of White Clover Jelly. I am learning a lot from your channel.
I have never heard of using clover for anything except as ground cover for the garden. This was very interesting to watch and learn.
I want t try this this spring, lots of white clover and my hubby loves honey!

Such a useful recipe! A wonderful way to use clover blooms!
Ours just started blooming. Gonna have to see if there are enough out there to make some jelly. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your video. As I watch your video again I'm steeping my clover blossoms and my pink peony blossoms for two great jellies!! 🌺💖
I love watching you can and bake breads. it's so calming lolol.
You make me want to buy clover seeds while I wait to complete my canning equipment purchases.
Just to let you know, I really enjoy your long videos, I feel like I'm just hanging around killing time with an old friend. 8-)

HAHAHAHAHA GOOD POINT!!!!!!!! yes, make sure it is white clover and not yellow! HAHAHAHAHAAAA
I so enjoyed this video! Thank you for filming the entire process. This will be very helpful to me when I make my jelly..I know I won't miss a step.
Praying you and your family UP, sweet Heather! :)

The sound of lemony apple is delicious. Looks so clear and light in colour. This would be fabulous on crumpets or morning toast. Yum, thanks momma!
oh man, i need to learn how to make a crumpet. LOL
Heather, I made this last year and it was wonderful... taste just like honey....thanks for the info. Wonderful. :)
its soo good! i am all out! :( i need to make more!
And I have heard about canning water...... but never looked into it, and I need to!!!! oh Ginnie, THANK YOU and thanks for watching this lil newbie! hahaha :D
jakluk4 You're welcome!

yes!!!! dandelion jelly needs to be made from a tea just like clover. sooo sooo GOOD!!!!
@@TheKneadyHomesteader thank you.
Whaaat? You can actually do dandelions as well? 😃 how does that taste?
Thank you so much for this editorial on how to jam clover but unfortunately I only had old pectin so I used two boxes and I have the wrong size jars so I wound up making only three and the rest I just put in the refrigerator to put in my iced tea. Yes this looks yummy
I hope I can find a lot of clover this year.
I love your videos I need to see how things are done. It really helps me learn.
I'm steeping my clover right now!!! so excited!!!
Wow. I’m so inspired. Thanks so much for the lesson. 👏🏻💕🇺🇸

music to my ears, Star! :D THANK YOU!!!!
Oh my goodness, LOVE that yellow bowl!!!!!!!
Just a thought to use a smaller canning pot for smaller batches. Saves water and energy. Nice job!
Continuing to watch your playlist.
Clover is rampant in my yard. Guess I know what I will be making. :)

I just put that on my "to can" list for 2016. Thanks so much for sharing.

I was going to pick some white clover but I didn't know what to do with it I have lots of clover at the beginning of spring
That is exactly how I learn. If you show me I can do it.😁 I love your videos.
i use pantyhose kneehighs for my spice bags too; its great to use
You should try making lemon balm jelly. Its made the exact same way.
Moved to new state last year and have not see any clover of any color. Where can I get some seeds to try growing them? TY 🌻
you can get them on amazon! Here are:
White: amzn.to/3XCpXIU
Purple: amzn.to/3BeoP6K
Thanks for the video! Just found out about this. Saving this for later. Going to go pick some clover. Lol
Do you thing I can make this with Monk sugar? I love your videos thank you.
that i am not sure of but do some research and see what you can find. there are so many new alternatives now available that are being safety tested. 😁
Now I have to look for the dandelion one. Thanks.💙
Heather I picked 4 cups and was so excited but it has little bugs in it is this normal and how do I get rid of them?
Awasome your a true inspiration I’m interested in how it taste

I'm already getting squash and zucchini out of my garden time to can them like picled zucchini and squash

👍looks so easy & yummy
I wonder if one could make a white pine tea jelly?? Hum?🤔🤔 think i'll go check! Lol
Can't wait to make this!
How do u get all the little bugs out of your flowers before processing? I've rinsed several times, they are still coming out.
try soaking them for a few minutes them rinsing
6 Tbsp of pectin seems like alot. I made it and mine is still like syrup. Its been a day and a half. Anything i can do for that?
I will be making this one!
I like that jar lifter
Wow what's what taste like
Do you spray/wash your clover before you soak in boiling water
I would, just to wash out any bugs. ✌
1 TSP of liquid stevia per 1 C sugar IF YOU don't want to use sugar. or 2/3 cup honey instead of 1 cup of Sugar conversion.
With all the extra cooking, is your energy bill any higher than it was this time last year? I wonder if the non-white clovers are ok to use. You forgot to use the green headspace thing after the first jar :P I believe him about the cinnamon taste. Have you ever had clover sprouts? They're spicey. Perfect ending :)
what isnt priced higher these days. i swear the less we use the higher the bills!
Ah, good point. You'd have to have kept last year's bills to really know.
like u videos have learned a lot from you so thanks for that because u make me want to can so thanks again
Is the dandelion jelly the same process?
yes! www.simplycanning.com/dandelion-jelly.html
Google has given away many pairs of google glass to big RUclipsrs & they hardly ever use them. I wish they gave you a pair. It would come in so handy for cooks like you. You wouldn't have to place your camera down and you could use both hands while cooking.
now THAT would be COOL! lol
What do we need for Dandelion jelly please.xx
Can anything be done with green clover?
i dont think so, it isnt a flower??? maybe a salad? LOL
with the red tip clover sorry mis Kneady.
This helped me so much!!! Thank you!!
Glad it helped!
