- Westworld's Jonathon Nolan and Lisa Joy did not let us down with an explosive first season of Fallout. We have been waiting on this ever seen they announced their interest in a Fallout project shortly after Westworld, and the wait is over. We venture into the wasteland with a big budget that gave us a glimpse into what could be, and so far I've only seen good things!

Oh! I like this channel 👍, I am a subscriber, and I think this is _quite_ a lot better than the channels in direct compettion with it (they shall not be named). Right _now,_ Thursday 18 April, 22:00 BST (21:00 UTC), *_Fallout_* season 1 is being reviewed on *The Critical Drinker* livestream _Open Bar_ #91, "The Fallout of Civil War, Lucasfilm Strikes Out, The War for Warhammer" (about 30 min from the start, video goes _Unlisted_ shortly after ending, will upload later on his secondary channel) by *him, @MauLer, @nerdrotic, @RealReaper and @THEOUTCASTSCREATIVE.* Reaper and MauLer point out _several_ flaws in *_Fallout_* season 1 we should _not_ overlook simply because it's A) a videogame adaptation or B) entertaining. Flaws are flaws, 10/10s are 10/10s and 9/10s are 9/10s. *_Fallout_* is not either a 10/10 or 9/10, _but I like it._ 🙂
A clip from Thursday's livestream called *"Drinker's Chasers - The Great Fallout Debate"* has now released on the *Critical Drinker After Hours* channel. A clip that truly lives up to its title. We should always hold our storytelling up to some _basic_ standards! That way, we get _classics._
I need West World levels of reviews for each episode, plus theory videos, can we expect anyone else from the games videos, Etc
Yes
This is why we need week to week release schedules
@@ZachBobBob easily said when you're not doing all the work.
Feels great watching a Hax recap and theory vid. I hope the algorithm picks you up in a major way, and you end up doing a few more shows.
Thank you for the good thoughts, feels good to be back! :D
Norm hasn't interacted with the rest of the "main cast," but he's 100% a main character fam.
100% agree!
1:01 -- Me, too, buddy. Me, too.
it's not fair...
Very happy you're covering this show!!!!
YES, PLEASE TO INDIVIDUAL EPSIODE DEEP DIVES. 😍
I was actually hoping you would cover this. I watched all your westworld breakdowns 😂
heck yeah! Glad to have you here :D
me too 👍
@@HaxDogma can’t wait for the fallout vids! Hope all is well. Thanks for being thorough 🙏🏽
It seems as though I was mistaken about the second season being renewed before the season started? Because the news just dropped 😂
YAY SEASON TWO!!
I was hoping you'd make a video for this. It was a great show!
I would love to see individual episode breakdowns! My favorite parts have all been the comedian cameos. I only beat one of these games and played 1/4 of another, so I'm sure I'm missing a lot of the game lore they are referencing in the show. It might be cool to learn of the vault experiments that are already out there. Like the Gary vault.
Thanks for making great videos. Excited for the new Shōgun tonight and episode breakdown!
as a fallout cult follower from the end of the last millennium i rly like the tv show like as a story that could happen in any fallout game and having a fresh perspective on the setting without going for the big mcguffins like the GECKO or FEV letting the world build by it self and getting you ready for S02 that can start taking more stuff from a very populated wasteland.
now just need to wait a year or two until a new be able to see more 8 hours of this, we need more good tv shows
That's Gucy, not Luzy... you may thank me later ;-)
Trueeeeee haha
Goosy
I got the impression early on that vault 31 vas maniging an experimant on vault 32, with vault 33 as the "controll-group" "blind-group" of the experiment.. (like lab-rats)
This got reinforsed after the visit to volt 4.
After the "brainstorming meeting" in the last episode i speculate that maybe vault 33 is the only "thrue to the oridginal ide" vault there is left...
exept they are also in an experiment.. no one exept the leaders from vault 31 knows it ofc., because the "normal" inhabitants of vault 33 are the "controll group".
(ps; i never played the game, and so have no info from beyond the series..)
Control Group! That makes sense, still part of the experiment, but not intervention beyond parachute leaders.
So much fun!🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍
First episode made me fall in abyss of despair... Yup, I'm talking about nukes. Last one gaved me hope. Yes, I'm talking about New Vegas.
fuck yeah haha
The only "flaw" of this season is the "binge model". I'd rather see season 2 episodes to be released weekly
Can not stress this enough, I wanted weekly SO bad.
I Love that show
Holy Moly! I had no idea the Nolan's were the showrunners/producers of this! I will check it out for sure!
Let me know what you think! :D
Not many bugs, considering Todd Howard was one of the producers.
Why was the mother kept as a goul by her lover?
Great voice.
I'm a little confused about the ghouls story. Why wasn't his family already in vaults before the bombs dropped if his wife is the one that knew it was going to happen? Why would the ghoul be asking about his family when his daughter was with him when the bombs were going off? Would that mean that his daughter is dead, or at the very least a ghoul herself? Also, where was his wife while he was at the birthday party? And if she didn't care about him then why wasn't the daughter with the wife at least?
That’s what season 2 is for.
They were divorced before the bombs dropped. The guys at the party mentioned alimony payments in reference to why big ol Cooper Howard was doing birthday parties. The bombs that went off in the show were likely retaliatory, because everyone knew they were coming, even if people were refusing to believe it and chose to live like normal.
They why is pretty evident, but they didn't tell us how the divorce happened. Either his wife or a vault tech employee (possibly hank hill) will almost certainly find the listening device with as poorly as he's trying to hide it. They'll tell us why the kid was with him and not her in S2. I imagine his wife didn't want him to take her.
He wants to "find his family" but it's left vague as to why. He may have gotten his daughter into a vault. His wife might be a big bad and he wants vengeance. We'll find out in future seasons.
It seems from episode 1 the party goers are surprised and pity him for doing birthday parties, could signal he fell on hard times and needed the money, that could mean he tried to divorce her after he found out, or they dropped the bombs ahead of schedule, or they treated the daughter with RadAway after the bomb and the mom orchestrated her kidnapping. Lot of potential variables
Lucy is super hot and i just love her okey dokey get it done attitude. Great show
I think you are pronouncing Moldaver incorrectly, or my hearing is off. Also still unsure how is she was alive to give a presentation pre-war how is she alive 200 years later? Was she also in cryo pods or is this a plot hole?
Both are likely haha likely not a plot hole and something that we are meant to ponder about until it’s revealed in S2
0:05 "It seems as though we are in the Golden Year of Television..." Just based on _this_ show, *or* which ones specifically? We are hardly in a _New_ *New Golden Age of Television* (1999-mid-2010s) yet, with _the amount_ garbage shows we've been given in the past 8 years or so (this is *_not_* a precise measurement of time), but we _might_ be getting back there! *Fingers crossed!* 🤞
Shogun, Fallout, 3 Body Problem so far! Season Two of Severance likely to drop this year as well 😻
@@HaxDogmaOK, good to know 👍.
Haven't seen *_Shōgun_* since it's on *D+* outside of USA, and I. Am. Not. Giving. *Disney* my money _unless_ they stop sinking their own ship-but I hear it _is_ a good show.
As to *_3 Body Problem_* on *Netflix,* I found it dumbed down (including the "creative" spelling of the name of the first book, which _is_ what the established physics and classical mechanics theory is called) and rushed from the books _and_ compared to the Chinese *_三体 | Three-Body_* (dual-language title on-screen), which I did, of course, watch here on *RUclips.*
It was a bad sign when, in January 2024, *_The Hollywood Reporter_* wrote that *Dumb & Dumber* (they do not deserve to be called anything other) wanted to make the series "more accessible" than the book, yet "as authentic as possible"-two things that are _in contradiction with_ each other!
Then there is this QUOTE from the article (text formatting mine, not THR's):
“The second book is far better than the first, and the third book just completely blew my mind,” *Benioff* says. “So I feel *if* we survive to the second season, we’re going to be in a good place. Things wildly escalate and there’s one scene, *if* we get to it, we’re golden - *like when* we got to the Red Wedding on _Thrones.”_ They hope to enlist *[Rian] Johnson* to helm an episode; scheduling conflicts prevented the *_Knives Out_* director from getting behind the camera during their first go-round. [END QUOTE]
*D&D* were in _such_ a hurry to get to the second book, that *they run through the first book in the first five episodes of season 1!*
A proper setup? Nah. Character development? Nah. _Authentic?_ Nah. Screw protocols that a Chinese military base would have. Screw the way scientists approach problems. Screw plausibility and realistic timeframes in the plot.
_With_ the details they omitted for the sake of pace, the series would _not_ have the aforementioned issues.
This was a shit show.
The grand scheme and overall story is interesting and smart.
The way through the episodes and the road to finding it was poorly written. Not near as clever as Westworld's scripts.
I'm really disappointed in Jonathan and Lisa.. The main characters were so shallow, their relationships were even worse, and the relationship between the three of them was pathetic.
😪
Said no one..
MuH CaPitaliSM is BaD
It is literally leading to the end of the world as we speak though lol
