Her line about him going to war and her waiting is so selfish. Did she think he was partying during war. Oh no she's sitting at home and he's facing bullets. What a self centered woman
Yea I really want to know more about it her story arc. For her to be that high up she must have been working for them for a long time, probably the whole time he was at war.
Hearing Cooper Howard talk about the T-45s and how bad they were really makes you respect Lyons brotherhood more as they held their own against countless super mutant hordes and the enclave with t-45
One thing Walton Goggins does while acting in character is turn up the southern accent when he's ghoulified. I actually think this would make sense, especially if he came from a cowboy background, he likely had a stronger accent when he was young but toned it down while living and working in Hollywood (Mirroring Walton Goggins himself). You can really notice it on the "S" sounds, coming across more like "Sh"s.
@@Shewolf341 Its actually a very common thing in some southern accents, and he does not do it when he is speaking in his formal standard American accent. Holly hunter does the same thing.
Because of his age and his clear fame I think that he was in the Marines for longer than 4 years. He could have already been in way before the war….and then became an instructor or DI….when the first version of the armor came out….Thats why he made the “basic” comment. And then volunteered to go down range to fight in Alaska. Just a thought.
Plausible honestly. Could have also been force extended because of the war because that would have been an additional 4 years at least and maybe more if they did what they did during WWII and said “you’re here until you can’t fight, you die, or the war ends.”

Haven't been this excited for upcoming seasons since Game of Thrones. Loved everything about season 1. The attention to details, acting and story are so well done and enough mystery to keep you craving more.
This is something I noticed when i watched the show but when Barb mentioned how hard she was working to get them in a 'good vault', Cooper kinda got offended, like his money and/or status wouldn't be enough to get them into a good one, obviously not knowing that 'good' meant 'control'. She obviously couldn't tell him that there were literal vaults made just to screw with people, like the one man, a box of puppets vault. She was hell bent, quite literally in the grand scheme of things, to make sure they wouldn't be subjected to horrible experimentation.
at the end of the series Cooper what looking for his Family which means they made it.. one plot twist i think that most people miss... cooper didnt join them not in protest but he exchanged himself for his Dog
Very well researched with strong support throughout. This data is valuable for us TTRPG players of the game! Nice work. Thank you for your time and effort with this endeavor
IF we go with the theory that Vault-Tec arranges marriages (as in the vaults) then I can see that Barb was told to go after Coop and bring him into the "family". Coop aka The Ghould always gave me Outlaw Josey Wales vibes.
The Giddyup Buttercup lawsuit was brought by the creator of Atomotoys after the factory was converted from making toys to making weapons. Check Fallout 3 lore regarding Atomatoys - it's pretty in-depth.
Theory from my end: His wife has janie and the girl who was with coop was a synthetic. She was in a cryo vault waiting for it to be over. So the robot burns in atomic fire, causing coop who is now ghoulified to start his quest.
We've already seen "good vaults" several times in lore. They're called "control vaults," and they don't have experiments, unlike the other vaults. There are only about 13-17 control vaults across the entirety of the US.
I think you’re underestimating the scope of this story. It’s not about being in a control vault, it’s about ending the world to have a life better than the one that currently existed. That’s the good vault we have yet to see 🔥
@@haxDOGMA I'm just a lore autist who's not big into looking for hidden or double meanings, so "good vault" just means "vault with no experiments" to me.

So I'm a little late to the party, but I think the reason he had his daughter on the day that bombs dropped is something to do with the lore If you remember Mr House said in New Vegas (and Todd Howard said New Vegas is canon) that the bomb just dropped one day early. He had planned on it being a certain day and it was one day early that's why the courier basically why New Vegas happened. So I think Janie felt bad that Cooper was going to die and that her daughter would never see Coop again and so she let himr have the daughter on one more day together before she took her into the vault and sealed everything up, but the bombs dropped another one cuz I mean she could have been just waiting for the party to be over to pick up Jamie and head to the vault. And since everything happened one day early but a bing bada boom that's why so-and-so
I have a question that I can’t seem to find my answer, unless it’s actually quite simple.. was The Ghoul alive and roaming the wasteland during throughly the video games timelines? Even though he doesn’t appear in the games, does this mean he was still walking during them though?
17:45 For the Capital Post date, I think it says "Morning, January 4 2077" with the G and Y being capitalized but pushed into a lowercase format to not break the perceived underline. You have to remember back in the days when Newspapers were king, the big ones would print Morning, Noon and Late/Evening editions. Since it takes time to transport newspapers across the country, it makes sense that a Morning Edition of the Capital Post wouldn't be sold in California until mid-late afternoon, maybe early evening.
Given power armor is like a personal tank, and that not all soldiers use it, they wouldn't teach you how to use it in basic, that'd be in AIT, Advanced Individual Training, though given the nature of it I think it'd probably be more likely they'd combine basic + AIT like they do with OSUT in the Army for M1 Abrams units, you stay with the same group of individuals to train with the entire time and usually deploy with them. We don't really know though, but, the point I'm trying, and failing to make is, EVERYONE goes to basic, they aren't training EVERYONE on T-45, that'd be a waste of time, so you move that to a MOS specific training course, like your AIT.
Pretty similar to the way the Corps does it. That being said they could likely just roll something like that into ITB the way they do with LAV crewman who fall under the 03 series of MOS. It’s powered armor so it couldn’t have been more than a 6 week course. I mean there’s conditioning to get you used to moving in it, weapons drills, tactics and ranges, and then exercises to test your skills in mock combat
I like you're mention of the dark ominous glow in the lighting during a scene, I know that technique was applied to terminator 2 with warm amber tones for Arnold and other protagonists while a blueish cold tone filter was used for the t1000
I really enjoyed this, thank you for all your hard work, thumbs up 👍 and definitely you've earned my subscription ❤. I loved this show, and having grown up during the birth of Fallout, I knew about it sort of, but not have the means to play it or experience it, has made me feel like I've been missing out, whereas my kids are envious because it's like I'm experiencing it for the first time, best of both worlds I suppose. My question stems from being a writer but seems to me there is a bit of a plot hole big enough to drive a Mac Truck through Side ways in a Tokyo Slide, that I never hear anyone talk about. It's in the first episode and in the last episode of season 1. Going by the end Hank seems to know Moldavia (spelling is it an 'ER' at the end?) He knows her it would seem from in the cage, and more on point She knows him, and I got the sense even before Shady Springs, but okay let's just go with They absolutely knew each other from Shady Springs because of the whole Lucy's Mom took the kids story so Hank destroyed the NCR, and yadda, yadda, yah, right, they knew each other? So, why, and you probably can see where I'm going here, but Why in the world did Hank acted like he never knew her, when they raided the vault? Well, clearly they have met in the past, and lol what some dirt and a vault tech suit pulled a Clark Kent disguise? A better plot, if I were writing it would have been if Moldavia/ver had sent in a team lead by a number 2 in command and not lead it herself. It would just make more sense, and sure we would miss out on the introduction of her, which could come later, or that line, "You really look like your Mom," to Lucy, which could have been said by the second banana in command, and then later drove home Moldavia herself when in a big reveal it's was her from the past just like they did with Hank. Anyway for me as a writer, that raid on the vault lead by Moldiver (sorry on her name but you know who I mean) with Hank having known her from Shady Springs (is that right, Shady Springs...seems right) and even before that even, But face-to-face even it would seem like lol because the script says so, you two don't recognize each other. Fun note did you notice in the scene when the bombs dropped how the two best friends at the birthday party, the Dad with the Camera and his African American friend were wearing the same clothes? Like lol they had a 50s Bro-mance going on he just liked his best friend so much he wore the same outfit down to the shoes... You get a better viewing of this at the fallout shelter the Dad helps his kid and wife into but tell his best friend there isn't any room and knocks his clock off time, we get a full shot of the two of them in a few seconds and you can clearly see they are wearing the same clothes. This might actually be a goof as the close up of them together a chest up shot, they look like they are in different shirts one has a vest on I think, but in that fallout shelter scene they Be Buddies! Also my Mom said I'm the '50s when she grew up, there were fallout shelter kits and books on how to make your own to buy in grocery stores. Magazines advertise them, the biggest time she recalls as the big bomb dropping worry was in the '60s with the Cuban missile crisis, in school kids were taught that when the bombs drop or if they hear the air raid alarm to get under their desks for PROTECTION! She remembers a classmate who was a bit of nerd, in practicing this he looked over at my Mom and she remembered him pushing his glasses up telling her, if this really happens I'm running outside to see, wanna come with me? Mom told him, "No, I want to be safe under my desk." He smiled and replied, "These desks will do nothing to protect you, just block the view of what's coming...if this happens we're all goners, I'd at least like to see it as a young scientist, it should be one hell of a view!" Mom said he thought it was amusing, but when the nerd in class said they would all die, which she knows looking back on it was true but because he was the smart egg in the class, what he said truly frightened her. Always thought it would be a funny scene in a movie. The nerd is actually the hero, and lol he wanted to go see it, what an awesome kid in my opinion. I told my wife if it's a bomb or a meteor hitting the earth and it's all over, I'm buying me a great big bottle of Johnny Walker, and a lawn chair so it can straddle the peak of my roof where I will sit and watch with my sunglasses and hooch, front row seats to the End of the World, (how is this not a title of an album) lol having been a survivor of Hurricane Florence and the 1989 San Francisco Bay Area Earth Quake, both times I had my lawn chair and whiskey. Lol Thanks for reading and hope you have a fantastic week and weekend, when? All of them! ❤
This just showed up as a recommendation video. I’m 6 months late. Great video. Very good breakdown. Cooper Howard is my favorite character of the series. Although maybe because I’m biased (I like the BoS) Maximus is my second favorite. I’m interested in Coopers wife story and see what happened to his daughter. The date on the paper at 17:40 is Thursday January 14th, 2077. The bombs drop on October 23rd, 2077. The start of the first episode takes place on that day. So between January and October is when Coop finds out the rest of the story about Barb.

The theory with his wife setting.thus up in advance, well that theory breaks down pretty quick. They were married before he became an actor and before the war...
Personally, I wonder if Barb started off with good intentions, becoming so high up in vault tech, because she wanted the best for her family and ultimately was corrupted by the influences around her

Crazy theory, Barb is from the vault that built Shady Sands, vault 15. Max is Cooper’s great, great, whatever grandson. Hank blowing up Shady Sands killed Lucy’s mom, Max’s Mom, and Cooper’s lineage making him the big bad for all three protagonists.
Your speculation of barb and fault tech having a long term plan to create the face of their ad campaign for the end of the world is fascinating. Wonder if after 200 years whether or not the goul has become aware of that mindfuck.
It's mainly because the fallout series was designed after visions of the future in the 1950s (basically the Jetsons). The fallout devs basically took the aesthetic of it and basically corrupted it into what it would look like in a mad max-esque post apocalyptic wasteland. So that's why everything looks like the 50s, because it's meant to be the future as imagined by people from the 50s.

Power Armor training would be more likely reserved for branch and specialty training subsequent to basic training ... cavalry, infantry, 75th RR, SF, etc.
With the way that the Corps does it, it most likely would be rolled into ITB and likely would have been similar to the LAV crewman or Machine-gunners. Considering that he was west coast that means San Diego for boot and Camp Pendleton for combat training/ specialized training. Given how long that pipeline is that’s about 6 months total time and likely 1 year from enlistment to getting to Alaska
I just hope we get some flash backs in future seasons showing Howard behind the scenes of fallout 1 and 2. Maybe he was friends of herold or was in necropolis when the master came. Or he helped protect new Reno from enclave while the chosen one invaded the oil rig end that scene with the enclave retreating after the oil rig blows up. Maybe he just gets in a gunfight with Frank and survives

Oddly enough, Walton Goggins is currently 52 years old. If Cooper Howard was born in 2025, then he would be 52 during 2077.
@@zacharymccants77 BRAVO TODD
I'm so into this franchise now. I kinda slept on the games but the Lore tickles me just the right way. Would love to see more!
Dude, the lore is absolutely worth spending some time just reading highlights of the Fallout Timeline on the wiki. It gets wild.
That’s awesome you’re interested now, but can I ask, why you slept on the games? New Vegas was a huge part of my childhood so I’m just curious why, either way, it’s awesome you’re involved now!
@@Okaydokie173 Super strict parents. Got me my first console in my 20s. I still only play casually cause I'm obsessed with books and movies😅
Check out the Shoddycast Storyteller series
I remember when I was first tickled by fallout as a young boy… wait
I think cooper went to the vault with his daughter but was not let in, due to the divorce. He hid enough to survive the blast but was irradiated into a ghoul. I can’t wait for season 2.
I like this theory. And I wonder if he ever went BACK to said vault if that's the case to check up on her or see if the vault was opened in those 200 yrs because of the line where he demands to know where is his family.
I came up with exactly the same theory. Makes the most sense
love how far they push this character
Truly, it’s all about seeing his personal code pushed!
Love the Vault Boy x Earthbound mashup. Phenomenal video, really enjoyed learning about Vault 12.
Haha, glad you liked that 😁
He probably got her to a vault and wasn’t allowed in himself.
That was Just good ol wokism in there for ya
Hearing Cooper Howard talk about the T-45s and how bad they were really makes you respect Lyons brotherhood more as they held their own against countless super mutant hordes and the enclave with t-45
One thing Walton Goggins does while acting in character is turn up the southern accent when he's ghoulified. I actually think this would make sense, especially if he came from a cowboy background, he likely had a stronger accent when he was young but toned it down while living and working in Hollywood (Mirroring Walton Goggins himself). You can really notice it on the "S" sounds, coming across more like "Sh"s.
I think the S to Sh thing comes from the dental retainers he's wearing over his own teeth
The prosthetics are ridiculously beautiful
@@Shewolf341 Its actually a very common thing in some southern accents, and he does not do it when he is speaking in his formal standard American accent. Holly hunter does the same thing.
This kind of breakdown brought back those Westworld days watching your stuff. Great job man, cant wait for Lucy and Maximus
Was thinking the same thing.
Plausible honestly. Could have also been force extended because of the war because that would have been an additional 4 years at least and maybe more if they did what they did during WWII and said “you’re here until you can’t fight, you die, or the war ends.”
@@carsoncasmirri3874the last part could be a possibility.
remember, Doomsday is Saturday, October 23, 2077. A saturday morning kid's birthday party, the nukes start hitting early that morning, by 10a-11a LA is hit.
Haven't been this excited for upcoming seasons since Game of Thrones. Loved everything about season 1. The attention to details, acting and story are so well done and enough mystery to keep you craving more.
My guess is that he was turned away at the vault or meeting place while his wife and daughter were allowed in or taken to safety
No, maximus uses the power armour like pushing a shopping cart because he didn't read the manual or get trained in how to use it.
You did an amazing job on this, plus the research you put into this was A-MAZING!
Terrific video. The only video that I have found that makes justice to this amazing first season
Ayyyy, thank you so much!
This is a great video concept. Please keep them coming!!
Oh, it is so good to hear you theory craft!
Thank you, Erni3K 🙏
Very well researched with strong support throughout. This data is valuable for us TTRPG players of the game! Nice work. Thank you for your time and effort with this endeavor
IF we go with the theory that Vault-Tec arranges marriages (as in the vaults) then I can see that Barb was told to go after Coop and bring him into the "family". Coop aka The Ghould always gave me Outlaw Josey Wales vibes.
the best notifications are HaxDogma upload ones! 🎉
Ayyyy, thank you brother!
Note: REPCONN was bought out by RobCo before the bombs dropped as per Fallout New Vegas
Oh great note here!!
The Giddyup Buttercup lawsuit was brought by the creator of Atomotoys after the factory was converted from making toys to making weapons. Check Fallout 3 lore regarding Atomatoys - it's pretty in-depth.
Your investigation seems to be complete!!!
Theory from my end:
His wife has janie and the girl who was with coop was a synthetic.
That’s the good vault we have yet to see 🔥
But this is true, there were a good number of control vaults used!
@@haxDOGMA I'm just a lore autist who's not big into looking for hidden or double meanings, so "good vault" just means "vault with no experiments" to me.
@nodaerT felt brother! I appreciate your perspective 😁
@HaxDogma And I appreciate your responding brother! I really enjoyed your analysis of my new favorite onscreen cowpoke. I hope to see you grow.🙏
cooper howard reminds me so much of william from westworld, love him
Actually, true. They even made the same scene, but with Cooper shooting someone in a room and then putting on black hat
Wait just noticed he had a white hat at the start
Considering one of the writers worked on the show it's not a big surprise
omg i thought the same thing i miss westworld 😢
@@DjSapsan He's still wearing his same white hat from the prologue scene, it's just old and dirty. He's still wearing the entire cowboy outfit he had on when the bombs dropped.
Just realized the cowboy outfit he has on for the movie is vault tec colors meaning it vault tech pushing for propaganda
Vault Tec based the vault uniforms off a costume he wore in one of his big movies.
Thanks for filling us in on everything.
Very deep and thorough analysis! 👍🏻
And since everything happened one day early but a bing bada boom that's why so-and-so
im so glad im finding videos with deeper analysis for this show!
Great vid did the best filling in i didn't put together of any video yet
Great video! Great theories!
I have a question that I can’t seem to find my answer, unless it’s actually quite simple.. was The Ghoul alive and roaming the wasteland during throughly the video games timelines?
Even though he doesn’t appear in the games, does this mean he was still walking during them though?
You stole my heart with your intro 😝 this is glorious, you are glorious, enjoying overthinking this Amazon show about a video game 😂
Aweee, thank you so much!! Just subscribed to you as well, Lindsay. :D
Can’t wait for the Severance breakdown!
Superb content, great job 👍
Going by the end Hank seems to know Moldavia (spelling is it an 'ER' at the end?)
He knows her it would seem from in the cage, and more on point She knows him, and I got the sense even before Shady Springs, but okay let's just go with They absolutely knew each other from Shady Springs because of the whole Lucy's Mom took the kids story so Hank destroyed the NCR, and yadda, yadda, yah, right, they knew each other?
Mom told him, "No, I want to be safe under my desk."
He smiled and replied, "These desks will do nothing to protect you, just block the view of what's coming...if this happens we're all goners, I'd at least like to see it as a young scientist, it should be one hell of a view!"
Mom said he thought it was amusing, but when the nerd in class said they would all die, which she knows looking back on it was true but because he was the smart egg in the class, what he said truly frightened her.
Lol
Thanks for reading and hope you have a fantastic week and weekend, when? All of them! ❤
Came across the ghoul on accident watching a few shorts now just watched this entire video 😂🎉❤ might have to download this. Seems good
This just showed up as a recommendation video. I’m 6 months late. Great video. Very good breakdown. Cooper Howard is my favorite character of the series. Although maybe because I’m biased (I like the BoS) Maximus is my second favorite.
I’m interested in Coopers wife story and see what happened to his daughter. I believe they got picked up taken to a vault where his wife was there and then she denied Cooper entry to the vault. He probably went to that vault that became Necropolis. That’s just my opinion.
I’ll have to check out your other videos. I’ll be subscribing to your channel.
The whole meeting of the CEOs had a very strong Dr. Strangelove vibe. It makes Fallout kind of a sequel.
Cooper Howard being the vault boy was cool to me
Truly such a great reveal!
The date at time stamp 17:45 looks like a M on the first word a J on the second and then 4 and the last digits look like 77. My idea is it says Monday January 4, 2077.
Would that date work out at all??
February 4th, but you're right
it says january, trust me
the newspaper at 17:50 looks to me like "January 4, 2077" which would line up pretty well with this whole prewar sequence being the endgame.
This is a big day today, and this was a great bump to this already amazing day.

The date on the paper at 17:40 is Thursday January 14th, 2077. The bombs drop on October 23rd, 2077. The start of the first episode takes place on that day. So between January and October is when Coop finds out the rest of the story about Barb.
Oh yes! I love that you’re making videos about this show!
I'm estimating Thursday, September 16th, 2077 for the date that is on that newspaper. I could clearly see the 77 in 2077
It looks like Wednesday, January 16th 2077 the w and J are pretty prominent

Goggins has done such an amazing job with this character. Just 10/10 acting chops. I have always thought he was underated ever since i saw him in major league 3 back to the minors (the best major league movie btw).
@38:59 its also possible ,his daughter is dead, he never got her to a vault, and he has forgotten, blanked out the truth as its is too painful to remember.
Oh snap, this would be pretty great too!
Really wonder if we going to get a scene like that, he finally tracks his wife down, after asking her about his where his daughter is, she reply's, she was never with me, she was with you at the time the bombs fell?..truth dawns on cooper@@haxDOGMA
The theory with his wife setting.thus up in advance, well that theory breaks down pretty quick. They were married before he became an actor and before the war...
Absolutely Great video thanks❤
when you zoomed in on the newspaper you can see the last digit is a 7
Personally, I wonder if Barb started off with good intentions, becoming so high up in vault tech, because she wanted the best for her family and ultimately was corrupted by the influences around her
I never played the games. I'm an old man, so I was playing video games back when Atari and Nintendo were huge. So I was more of a Frogger guy than any of these new games that have these vast backstories and lore. But I'm loving the show! The games must've been amazing though! I hope we get a season 2 of this show now, I'm totally invested in this show now.
I think the news article at the timestamp 17:56 date says January 4th 2077. Because you can kind of make out the J, the 4, and the two 7's
He was hence he shot that vault boy poster.

Excellent recap of Cooper
I know it’s alternate history but I can’t believe that pre-nuclear apocalypse 2077 still looks like the 1950’s
@@boxylemons7961 if it’s down to a narrative choice, it is what it is; but it’s hard to imagine society/culture stagnating for over 100 years w/o some sort of explanation. Like maybe their version of the Gilded Age was 100 years late

I honestly can’t see the whole Valutec Scheme of creating Cooper to be this perfect poster boy. The scene where Valutec said that they’ll happy his wife was able to use her connections to get to Cooper kind of comes off more as a very professional way of saying their happy she got her husband on board.
I get that too! That’s Occam’s Razor. But to me it seems like a lot of this is surface level stuff, that plays well now behind that professional mask, but could sincerely be so much more if they choose to do this. To me it seems like they could be, but again it very well could be nothing 🥰
@@haxDOGMA I get that, they do have a lot to work with, there are a lot of different twists they can do and I’m excited to see what season two will give us. So many unanswered questions! I just hope his daughter isn’t a ghoul lmao
22:20 nah, I feel like her saying this is just a way to manipulate him into feeling bad for even asking questions, to shut him up.
I heard that one of VA for F4 said that they're might be a Fallout 5 in the works
I forgot about that ranger whose sons he killed. That's Erik Estrada from CHIPS. A fairly major actor for such a small scene. He will definitely being showing up later on down the line.
I love the variety of different companies of Vault Tech

It’s people calling Marines “Soldiers”
Anyone think he’s the mysterious stranger
I’m glad Goggins is getting a cool lead role like this. He’s made for this kinda role. Glad it’s not as the villain this time even though they spun it as such at the beginning until you see more of his backstory. I wish they would’ve shown what happened when he rode off with his daughter on that horse. I’ve never played the games but now kinda wish I had.
Interested to know how much time you put into this, beautifully done. 👏

The US taking over Canada has always been the most outrageous part of the Fallout story line. The writers of Fallout must not have known that Canadians become Mr. Hyde once war is declared.
