    Thank you. This instruction is just exactly what I need. Imho, This Guy did make the shot in perfect angle, sufficient lighting (he should not have been worried about this multiple times). Greatly helpful video indeed. LIKE & SUBS. Cheers 🍻👏✌

    To be honest there are two videos ahead of this video and their the same, weird. But they don’t show the one detail about which way the airflow should go. The factory filter vs aftermarket filter are completely different and confusing. Thank you for the video.

    I just replaced the air filter in my 2016 Avalon yesterday. I viewed your oil change video, (my next project) and just decided to view this video also. Well, the Bosch cabin filter I chose has an arrow and the words airflow... Thanks to you, I realize I installed it backwards. My question to you is; I made one trip yesterday, about 20 miles round, mostly highway, should I just remove it, (check for any loose debris) and flip it around to the correct downward airflow orientation?

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  2 года назад +1

      Yup, You can simply dust it off and reinstall. As long as you dont have debris you are ok.

      @@ThisGuyProductions thanks! And btw, the oil change went well in the 16 Avalon also! I wound up using a Fram o/f because it was one of the few in stock, (at local Wally world) that came with the 2 o-rings. I was surprised to see the Toyota OEM filter there on the shelf, except that, it was just the filter only.

    How did you know to reverse flow arrow?

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  3 года назад +3

      You know because the filth and debris accumulated on the side of the filter that the air is coming in from.

    I still don't understand, if the air flow direction is the same why does the aftermarket say down but the one installed and printed on the cover says up? Your car didn't change, so how come we're changing the filter direction from the manufacturer installed one?

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  3 года назад

      The toyota filter has the arrow pointing in the same direction of the air flow. Then you have aftermarket companies that put an arrow in the direction that is up. There should actually be the word "up" printed next to the arrow telling you thats the way to insert it. It can be a little confusing, but it works. What model number air filter are you using? I can research it.

    • @derrickt8162
      @derrickt8162 3 года назад

      @@ThisGuyProductions I have Denso brand. It was pointing up but debris is on top of the filter.
      Even the cover door (of cabin filter) is showing UP, in the Toyota's manual also suggested install with UP arrow, but I think the UP arrow (from Toyota) and AIR FLOW UP arrow are totally different.
      Toyota refers to their filter where their UP arrow meant AIRFLOW down (as you can see debris is on TOP of the filter when you removed it).

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  3 года назад

      @@derrickt8162 If the arrow is pointing up and says the word "up" next to the arrow, its pretty straight forward. If the arrow is pointing in a direction without the word "up," on it, you can safely assume it is asking you to install in the direction of air flow. The air flows downward hence the reason you find debris on top of the filter. Hope this helps.

    FWIW This incorrect for a 2020 Avalon hybrid. Not sure about other years

      Thanks Randy, can you let viewers know what is different on that model?

    • @rashrl1
      @rashrl1 2 года назад +1

      @@ThisGuyProductions It is the same until you get past the cover plate in the glove box. Then, there are no tabs. Hard to describe and the manual was not great either. There are two little pointy tabs coming out both sides of the next cover. The point to the sides, not the front. Very hard to see and get to. You have to squeeze the two on the right together then pull toward you. Then before you pull to far, and possible break it, you have to squeeze the two on the left together and pull it out. After that, you have to pull out a tray that holds the actual filter. Next replace the filter and put the tray back in. Put the cover back on it. (Easier than getting it out) and then put the front panel back on.

      @@rashrl1 Your comments were spot on. I have a 2019 XLE. The best way to remove the inner cover plate is to sit in the passenger seat, put both hands inside the glove box and find the tabs on each side. Squeeze the tabs on both sides toward the center and the cover plate will come off.

    The second cover won’t come off for my 2017 Avalon. I’ve tried pinching both tabs simultaneously and one by one, still won’t come off. I’ve also tried prying it open with a flat head screw driver. Still doesn’t come off.

      Ah, thanks. I was surprised that the model would run from 2013 to 2020, Starting in 2019, the Avalon had a redesign. @ThisGuyProductions, I would edit your title to read correctly. (I have a 2019) @greymatter4442, thanks for the correct video link.

    Nice edit job. When you press the 2nd set of tabs for the inside cover, you edited a quick, pop off result (not exactly accurate). It is much harder , and does not pop off in your hand as shown, you are cheating your viewers by not fully explaining and showing the procedure.
