  • A personal session re-learning the local spots I have ridden in all my life - winging opens up so many locations to this fantastic sport.
Today's lesson - big hydrofoils are good for small waves, but if you want to carve around on big fast ones you need a small hydrofoil or nature will run you over, haha.
music - Broke for free - Colourful
    Location - Teesmouth bay (north)
    - wind NW-NE 5-25kts, (really inconsistant with big squalls)
    swell 6-8' north,
tide 75% to 100% spring tide.
Kit - Freewing Nitro 4m, AK 1300 Plasma, 90 carbon mast 260 downwing, Compact 58lt

Ha! I know - it's a magic feeling. Should have had the 1000 Plasma from AK but had the 1300. Go pro doesn't really show the waves, but that spot is a belter when it works, you can take a ride for half a km.. lol

The prices on that wing are crazy - more than a kite lol

You wait till next year - if you are outside the US financial system - sterling for example has lost 20% of it's value so far and continues to drop - next year prices will be 20-30% higher 😞I have to say though 4m nitro - is responsible for 80% of my sessions - it's an incredible wing.

@@ktwo-surf it's getting a bit too much! There was already pretty bad " inflation" in this industry in the last 5 years before this actual inflation and currency value changes.

@@huzcer before covid a container from china was £1000 max, now the same is £10,000. A pump for example cost more in shipping than the pump itself. Production costs increased, energy costs, the currency devaluation - it's a horrible feedback loop that I hope ends very soon. The richer get richer, the poorer get poorer 😞

@@ktwo-surf yes I know that, (shipping costs have come back A LOT from the sept 2021 peak if you look into it, especially just very recently now back to summer 2020 levels) but even pre COVID the industry was taking the piss. Eg a "big brand" kite bar and lines costs over twice what it used to 5 years ago and has for a while

@@huzcer yup - the shipping rates are falling a bit these last few months. You are right on the bars - they are the worse. Lines went up globally, everywhere - the main cost of the bars now, the difference is huge from 5 years ago.
