Amazing! I'm 53 years old, fished my entire life, and it's never occurred to me to do this. Cheers Alfie, for showing this old dog an amazing new trick! Top angling fella.
I’m doing this a lot for Zander. You see them very well because of the reflecting eyes. In German it’s not allowed to fish with live Bait. But soft and hard baits are very well too.
lamped tench, carp, pike, perch 20 yrs ago with my pals. Once the fishers green river time was up we used to go onto hooks marsh and 70 acre lamping fish
I go out lamping for perch but with lures! Mainly a natural imitations, recently got an 8lb pike out and a 2 and half lb perch! There is nothing better than hunting them in the dark
Alfie your the new god teir !! Your videos are fantastic and love your approach to fishing but sadly where I live it’s not possible with no canals near by , but still it’s great to see what can be done when u fish out the box 👍
Livebaiting is def not my cup of coffee - and forbidden here in Germany. But that is really the only negative aspect with this clip. Just wow, you really impressed me young man. I know a few top class carp anglers using strong lamps to locate their fish, but never heard of anyone lamping for perch. This will be known as Alfie style - that is for sure! Congrats!
Almost all species can be caught using live bait at 🌃 night. I've been fishing at night for big perch, zander, chub, trout and pike at night for many decades in all countries. Large lobworms or swan mussels or dead sea fish can be extremely good, but my preference is to use live roach or rudd during freezing cold winter ❄️ nights. Carp will also pick up dead fish and attack live fish at night during winter, and it can be an exciting method. I see nothing negative in the video at all. I've fished using livebaits all across Germany, and I almost always return my captures of big fish to the water (despite the ridiculous rules).
I watched a vid a couple of years ago from the USA,they showed fishing on a lake (underwater)from a boat, with a light underwater.Inside a short time the small fish arrived feeding on the alge, then the bigger fish arrived feeding on the smaller fish. They started fishing at that point and pulled plenty out. They were selling the underwater lamping kits online. They also work in the sea.Basically, the light attracts the alge.
Great angling, don’t matter how old you are,you can always learn new techniques ie using a torch at night, most of us try to use the torch minimum amount of time.
In the Usa they drop an underwater lamp down and leave it in situ, the small fish are attracted to the microbes in the water, then the big fish come to feed on the small fish.
Did this thirty years ago for pike my best session was nineteen pike in totall darkness this was on pressured waters never had one over the twenty i did notice they went off the feed around nine at night
Yea I actually bought what I thought was one of those super powerful army torches with that very intention to scan the waters...but was ripped off by a scam...well what could I expect paying 45 quid. ..Those urban perch have made some interesting adaptations.... hunting bait fish shoals silhouetted against the luminescent city scapes.....as have you....great innovative remarkable inspiring fishing... as usual ...
Another quality film and so good to see a young and very skilful angler putting so much effort into his angling and getting the rewards. I'm not trying to detract from his achievements in any way but I'd just like to say that there is nothing really new in fishing and I know for a fact that this method was in regular use on northern canals 20+ years ago albeit by very few anglers.
Nice video . Shame about the live and dead bait but each to there own . I love perch fishing at night with lures and had so many big ones even with black lures . The torch is a nice idea but most of the water here for perch is too deep for that unfortunately but very nice technique 👌
Alfie and Terry Hearn are two who have completely swung me round into predator, carp and urban fishing, cheers lads

Another 5 star video! I love watching Alfie and Dan, great characters and top anglers. Thanks Drennan!

Love the drennan video but never long enough. Alfie is something else top quality 👌
Very fine looking Redfin and great presentation overall Alfie.
Great footage 👏. I would never think to target perch in the dark like this before. Real Eye opener
Glad you enjoyed
Top angling Alf. Definitely food for thought 👍
Nice one Alfie. Really interesting and a great watch 👍

I do the same great fun to see them take the lure and can travel light and walk a fair bit
Yess lure fishing for perch at night is awesome 👌
I’ve never tried it but I will now 😊

Brilliant as ever Alfie 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Alfie is a top angler. Great film, we’ll done. Keep them coming.
Quality as always alfie! No matter the quarry you always smash it! 👊🏻
We have been doing this for Zander and eels mostly, works good.
Been fishing for perch & zander in the dark for years 🤩 no other fishermen & good catches !

You gonna tell me livebaiting is cruel????..but sticking g hooks in a fishes mouth is ok???talk sense you fool.
Insane video mate such passion into the video and fishing
Caught most of my bigger Perch after dark ... always baffles me on forums the amount of 'Perch dont feed in the dark' I read.
Good stuff. Inspired me to have a go on local canal. Not keen on live baits though. I'll persist with worm.

Gonna be getting all over this! Thanks
Brilliant video, looks a super exciting style of fishing! 😍
Glad you enjoyed it!

Been wondering when this was going to end up on YT

This is a great watch...was he fishing straight through or paternoster style with the live bait?
Good to see this technique
That was awesome 😎
I take it this method only works in clear venues? I'm assuming coloured water would stop the light penetrating?
That's sick!
Good effort! 👍
Been doing this for years it’s a wicked way of fishing had loads of chunks at night. I find the later it is the better it is
Class angling 🎣👌
Wow!
We do it alot in Ireland, but for pike
I'm fishing the river for barbel atm , im gonna try this out , big ass perch that was😏
Do you need clear water for this
Nice video . Shame about the live and dead bait but each to there own . I love perch fishing at night with lures and had so many big ones even with black lures . The torch is a nice idea but most of the water here for perch is too deep for that unfortunately but very nice technique 👌
You might catch a serial killer as well
Super interesting approach with the torch...but why livebaiting?? That kind of ruined this otherwise really cool video...
Its fuckin david beckham 😅
