- With the longer days, nature starting to stir, as well as rising water temperatures, there's one species synonymous with this time of year and that's the tench. Daniel Woolcott talks us through his early season campaign on a large, low-stock gravel pit, where he had the session of a lifetime bagging not one, but two enormous tench!

Great video. And I agree to much carp puddle fishing. You cant say its using fishing skills to catch fish. In 3ft of water and 2ft of fish. Keep up the great work making these videos

I have been fishing for over 50 years
And the tench still holds dear to my heart
Fishing with my dad on our local lake
And catching small tench, I have never been lucky enough to catch anything over 3lb , I still fish today but on these man made puddles for the carp , but the tench along with the roach will always remind me of fishing with my dad
Biggest tench ive had is 9llb fishing centrepin on a summer night!

Would love to catch some beauties like this. Just got back into Tench fishing again this year and had some really good sessions with the biggest being 8lb 2oz. Hopefully going for some 10lb+ next year 🎣🎣
Breath taking episode Dan , your angling skills and sheer love for your quarry have shone through. Tench have always been my favourite fish and although now my main target are Carp and Catfish , I'm always over the moon to catch a Tinca at 3am when most carp anglers would scorn at them.
Give me a double figure tench over a 40lb carp any day ..

My favourite fish ever. Don't have anywhere in the northeast for big tench. They must be really old fish to be that size.
