I was surprised whey you mentioned that you empty your cans after about 2,000 miles. I have the two-can "heated" system and, on average, I get 6 ounces of crap out of my cans every 98 miles. If I drove 400 miles in one day, I would have to empty them 3 or 4 times! I did contact Team RXP and they sent me a different part for the large can to replace the original part but I still get a lot of crap but possibly less than with the original part. On the one hand, the system is definitely working but I'm getting so much more crap than what you mention in this video that it gives me a bit of concern. The truck is super-well maintained and it runs great and only has about 52,000 miles on it. Maybe it's the climate I live in. I understand this system will collect more crap in cold, damp climates and I live in northern Illinois. By the way, the system is installed and double-checked exactly as shown in this video so it's not an issue of being installed improperly.
Has anyone else found this system to collect as much as 6 ounces per 100 miles or so?

Thanks for posting this. It's clear and will be very helpful when I install this system on my 2013 F150. (Note: I completed the job within an hour of watching this video and it went as smooth as silk using your directions. Thanks again!

I apologize for being a bit confused but I don't want to goof up. I have your 2019 two-can heated catch can system on my 2013 F150 Ecoboost. Can (should) I modify my system with the T you mention? If so, could you clarify exactly what to do. Also, I understand you have eliminated the filter and it runs to a T. Is tha the T you mention?

  • @bmfilmnut

You mention that you empty your catch cans about every 2,000 miles. Believe it or not, I have to empty mine every 100 miles. Actually, the way it works out is I collect 12 oz. of crap about every 98 miles on average although I collect a little less in the warm months. I have no idea why mine collects so much. I installed this system on my 2013 F150 Ecoboost at about 50,000 miles. I maintain the truck religiously so I don't think ring wear is a problem. I use Mobil1 oil and, being old school, I still change my oil and filter every 3,000 miles or so. Actually, because I'm retired and don't drive the truck that much, I often do oil changes by time rather than miles so I sometimes change the oil and filter at intervals less than 3,000 miles. On rare long road trips, I may go up to 4,000 or, at tops, 5,000 miles but never more than that. The truck runs like the day it left the factory. I contacted Team RXP about this and I have to say their customer support is great. They responded quickly to any questions I have had. They sent me an alternate internal part for the main can to replace the original one. It doesn't have the baffle on the end (which I think is where the term "heated" comes from but I may be wrong). However, even with that replacement part, I still collect about 12 oz. every 100 miles or so in the winter and a bit less in warm months. If Team RXP sees this and has any explanation that could explain the large amount of crap their system is collecting, I'd be very interested in what they have to say. I have the two can, ultimate heated system.

Why is there a gap in product years? Is it necessary to use this on a 2016 3.5 EcoBoost in an Expedition EL?

For those of us with existing/older kits, would putting a check-valve between the airbox and the Clean Side Separator produce the same result as just the OEM filter cap?

No that needs to flow both ways all the time

We do not run the small filters anymore.. now we run that line back to a tee in between the drivers turbo inlet and the check valve.. so it’s plug and play.. no more drilling

    • @TEAMRXPCOM

We run a closed loop system on the colder weather trucks.. you can run the filter if you are in a warmer climate. But found out in the winter the condensation would freeze up the filters and block them.. now you just tee back into the turbo inlet on the drivers side.. diagram is on our site

Great install I just did mine a month ago and I have to drain my catch can weekly give or take every 500 miles because I get way to much fluids, would anyone know why I’m getting so much fluids out of mine?

    • @TEAMRXPCOM
      @TEAMRXPCOM  5 лет назад +1

Travis J88 what is the vehicle? And what is a lot? How much? Also if it’s very cold out you do develop a lot of condensation in the can

    • @travisjohnson8074

TEAM RXP . COM I get close to 2 cups of fluids in 500 miles, I have a 2013 f150 limited 3.5L, it has been a bit on the colder side in North Dakota ranging from 20f to 50f since I installed the catch can.

Good question. I have to drain about 12 oz of crap out of my cans every 100 miles. I contacted Team RXP and they got right back to me and sent me a replacement internal part for the main can but it still collects about the same amount of stuff. I see they responded to your post recommending that you make sure the check valves are clear and working. I've done that and they're working properly. My truck is a extremely well-maintained 2013 King Ranch, 3.5L Ecoboost. On a road trip when I drive, say, 400 miles a day, I have to empty the cans four times a day! I like getting that crap out of my crankcase and preventing it from building up on my intake valves but it seems strange that it's collecting so much.

Joel Nevins UPR copies the original design years ago.. they also added holes into their baffling which actually makes them a little less efficient.. plus the twin can design runs a can on each valve cover.. both sides of the engine..
      👍
