The sight of the fans choir wearing their colors should be an annual occurrence at the FA Cup final. It's great to see ordinary folks taking center stage for this moment.
I chose this as the final hymn of my dad's funeral mass as he was a huge football fan and I wanted something in his funeral that connected to the sport he loved, plus I love this hymn too.
I lost my da in June just gone and we from Belfast the apprentice boys band played this song dedicated to him I fkn miss him I’m still struggling now and me da final song was you’ll never walk alone
I remember going to the 1950 FA Cup final when Arsenal beat Liverpool 2 - 0. The singing was led by Arthur Caiger, the man in the white suit, who was on a rostrum on the pitch. It is great to see the tradition has been carried on and updated with Alfie Boe and the fans choir. I do hope that the hymn will be sung this year as it has been at every Cup final since 1927.
What a fantastic rendition that was such a shame we never turned up that day. Watched with my old man who's nearly 70 now and still the only major trophy he hasn't seen villa lift, praying he sees it in his lifetime utv
Heard this the first time at the FA Cup final 1977 (ManU vs Liverpool) when it was just played by the redcoats with their bearskin hats. Before there were all kind of entertainments and behind the 2 goals the fans of ManU and L, noise like you wouldn't believe. The moment the conductor raised his baton you could hear a pin drop within 5 seconds . Then 100.000 people singing "Abide" , followed by "God Save the Queen". I was so moved, , I cried, and I am not even British, just back then an Austrian, loving English football and a Liverpool fan . (Now I live in the States and my passport says I am American...) Till today this was the most moving experience in my life. Sitting next to the Royal Box did not hurt either.....Not commercialized like today. And it was still the Empire Wembley ....the cathedral of football.
Very good rendition.. Thank ypu for sharing. Keep up the good work.. God needs us more than ever in this covid crisis. God bless you and all who made this piece possible to be shared... Prayer to the Holy Spirit (St Augustine) Breathe in me O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Strengthen me O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen
Stuart Green You did a fabulous job! It's been great to read your video diaries. What a fantastic thing to be involved with. Notice I gave you first billing in the title!!! :)
Generally I would agree. Someone else here mentioned the FA Cup final of 1977, "The moment the conductor raised his baton you could hear a pin drop within 5 seconds". But in this case it's a great pity they didn't make more noise and drown out that hideous shouting quivering egotistical imitation of a singer.

Will be singing this loud and proud on Saturday for the same reason 🦊

@@billycrawford4453If it is any source of comfort, the musical choice was very beautiful. Two songs that really bring it home.
The most beautiful hymn ever !
This hymn is always a great part of the FA Cup final.
Except it's a Scottish hymn, almost as ridiculous as Nottingham forrest singing Mull of Kintyre!
@@brianlorne4263 last time I checked Scotland was apart of the UK aswell as England so what difference does it make?
It is the FA Cup Final
@@brianlorne4263 sorry to hear your British apartheid…the melody is at least in this version composed by an Englishman
INSPIRING FROM ONE AN AMERICAN WHO CANNOT STAND WATCHING SOCCER. THE USA SHOULD DO SAME.....

You can't ever have an FA Cup final without this anthem. It's to the FA Cup like the theme tune is to the champions league.
Incredible. Scenes like this make me British and proud
Beautiful song well sung here. Hallelujah. Come King Jesus.
Gives me goosebumps ... Beautiful
Beautiful. I want the organ, a brass band and the choir singing this full blast at my funeral
Sure. Don’t we all?

Played it at my dads and mums funeral. Then in Dutch. Dad was a big football fan !

Amazingly beautiful!
Great hymn! And Arsenal playing in the final!
it is sad that this won't be sung by a live crowd this year the fa cup won't be the same
I love these beloved peoples of God please convey my love to them if possible 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤❤❤
WARUM IST DAS IN DEUTSCHLAND NICHT MÖGLICH?
ERGREIFEND UND SCHÖN.
He is pretty good - but we don't do a bad job behind him!!! :)

TY :)
Nice quality choir in the background
I hope its played in the UCL and UEL finals this year
Best ever AWM at a final, not equalled in the years since. The FA should make this format of a fans' choir a permament feature.
Excellent version
Truly amazing!
Oh my god. I love English football

I remember Saddam Hussein I fought the Iraqi war to with the British army it was brutal
Such a shame so many of the peasants at the match fail to show respect and chanted during the hymn.
Generally I would agree.
