This is my favorite Hymn. I often play this song before going to bed at night. After hearing this Hymn, I always feel comfortable and my mind calms down.

My great grandfather is Henry! So cool, this is part of our history. It’s crazy because I see my face in Henry’s. Nice to meet you Perry.

I love how the British embrace and perpetuate tradition.
I'm in Australia and I always look forward to hearing this hymn before the game.

I always liked the tune and never knew that the words beyond the first phrase were so sad.

Not now though! The Indian government removed this hymn during 2022 national celebrations. Thanks

Wow. way to miss the point of the hymn. Amazing how the BBC can't even bring itself to mention his hope in Jesus which is the whole driving message of the hymn! Abide with me is a call to Jesus to be with him as he approaches death and through to eternal life.
But it is bizarre that this song of praise to Jesus victory of death is sung at a football match!!

Why all the chat during the choir singing? Spoiled the piece.

Bad harmony and bad singing spoiled that. Quivering "vibrato" every time.

Heh, I can understand why some here are 'miffed' by the BBC's typically atheistic /a-religious coverage- like srsly- *it is a hymn*
... On the other hand; out of the three most obvious videos on youtube concerning this hymn (and its relation to the fa cup) both others border on pontifical sermons...
like, I do (kinda) admire seeing such ardent faith in the 21st century, but surely a little variety of perspective isn't so bad? Especially considering the aforementioned century ;)

Should have been the National anthem instead of the crappy god save the Queen
