I have ptsd so sleep is almost imposible, my brain can not stop thinking about what I should be doing or should have done, what I want, etc. Resting hr is around 85 bpm. Practicing mindfulness is something my shrink tried to get me to do, but that just sends me into panic attack mode. My brain just likes a million thoughts at once.
Thank you for taking the time to comment bro. First of all I am not a therapist, I did not train or go to school to study that subject, I am self-taught, so please keep that in mind. It seems to me you are trying to run before learning how to walk. Praticing mindfulness without any proper training is actually very difficult. Being mindful when you have not trained and strenghthen your mind before can be overly stimulating. It's like trying to bench 2 plates on your first day at the gym. I would suggest you try to learn how to meditate at your once pace first. That would be the first step you would need to take. I recommand an app called Balance for beginners. It shows you different style of meditations, they teach you the basics, you can even choose how long the meditation session lasts (3, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes) and you have a free year of premium content when you download the app. I am not affiliated with them in any way, I just really like the app, it showed me a lot of useful stuff for a beginner. For night time I used to be like you too, I could not fall asleep unless I watched RUclips videos or something to numb my brain. Meditations really helped with that problem. I am also taking 2 supplements to calm myself before sleep and turn my mind off. I take Apigenin (50 mg) 1 hour before sleeping and Melatonin (300mcg = 0.3mg) right as I put my head on the pillow. What also helped me to relax before sleep is reading a book or a novel an hour/1:30 hour before my bedtime to put me in a relaxed mood and state of mind. NO CELLPHONE at least 2 hours before sleep, it gives too much anxiety. Again I am not recommanding anything as I am not a professional, I am just telling you what worked for me, I truly hope it can help you too. By the way you are brave af for seeking help. Most men are not that courageous. You are on the right track. Keep working on yourself
Always man. Facing the challenges of life alone is hard enough. Every man should feel like he can count on a brotherhood whenever he needs. I’ll always be there to support my boys
