I just played a game last night where me and a few guys from my team built up massive fortifications on our last objective and when our team fell back it was so satisfying seeing everyone hold the line along the barbed wire, walls, bunkers we had built. Shout Out to a dude I think his name was BeanMan or something like that. we built an unbreakable line.
That is extremely satisfying. I've seen a few games that were won just from fortifications. I remember one match where our team got pushed back to the final point, and we ended up fending off the enemy team just because the engineers were building it up the entire time! It was an amazing final stand!
but you lost?
This is one reason this game is so great
@@maqee3240maybe they were playing offensive? lol but I thought the same thing
Well fortifications only make sense in offensive since enemy needs to be in the circle in order to capture, whereas in warfare just being inside the 4 squares is enough so they don't even have to be near your fortifications to capture the point
Perfect, Im starting to get back into hell let loose minecraft. I remember building a whole fort as a fall back, we won and never used it but it was a good fort.
When you get to "use" it is when it's a 1/4 done and your getting steamrolled 😂 never when it finished and impenetrable 😑
@@haystackplays exactly
So we're complaining that nobody kicked our sandcastle 🤔
Today was the first time I played in a game where we built a legit fortress, I just stumbled upon 2-3 engineers dropping thousands and thousands of supplies on one spot, then 1-2 more engineers got in on the fun as we started building a massive base of max level bunkers and barriers with all the other stuff inside, it just so happened that the game came down to that objective, and I gotta admit, it was so satisfying seeing an entire team digging in and fighting off waves of enemies behind the protection of your builds. Was one of those super cool HLL moments.
Just wait til you see my upcoming vid. We built what was easily the best fortifications I've ever seen built in HLL!
A garrison inside a level III bunker is genius. I've never run across that, and never would have thought of it on my own.
Omg no! Imagine 10+ guys spawning in it and then trying to get out of the tiny door?
@@Boschmaniacretty sure they would spawn outside
soul sniper specifically said German bunkers is it limited to Germans or does any bunker work?
@@TheRedishTurtle I think only the Germans can upgrade bunkers to level 3.
@@ZRaddue no other nations can too, it’s just the American and Russian lvl 3 bunkers aren’t as good
My favorite thing in the game is building fortresses and I love taking supplies to the point. It usually feels like trucking simulator but it’s nice knowing you are making a huge difference
people like you quietly make the win possible
I’ve seen like 8 engineers one time build up a strong point into a damn fortress. The enemy couldn’t even get within 100m because all directions were completely fortified. It was insane, glad I took screenshots.
I am totally impressed by this well-written, professionally edited tutorial! This video flows so well, with fantastic graphics that support all the key theme points-- it captivated my interest. Even though I'm a L220+ in the game I found lots of new information. Thanks, SS team! General Rocker (Retired)
Wow, thank you for the kind words! I appreciate that very much and am happy to hear you enjoyed it!
I'm still of the opinion that spending lots of time with many troopers setting up hard defenses is not the best way to expend resources. Wire, mines and then out into the field to disassemble the attacking force, is what I think. Who knows how I'll feel next year. hehe
Yea there's really no 100% correct strategy. It depends on the teams, the strongpoints, and how the game is unfolding. I'm big on barbed wire being the bulk of what's needed. It's cheap, quick, and effective.
Awesome video. lots of good points.
When impossible to block off a side satisfactorily, i.e. not enough engineers or supplies, I use the "Hedge-L" or "Hedge T" strategy. When you anticipate enemies will approach your strongpoint along a certain hedge row, I put a single (or sometimes double, 1 on each side) barbed wire under a 90 degree angle. This will force them into the open or funnel them into another direction. This is really good on points like Artillery Battery (Omaha) or Pierre's Farm (SMDM).
I was part of the team building the defenses on kharkov in this video. Stopped them absolutely dead cold!
I like shady tactics, build two barware blocking an area staggered so that they have to run a S shaped gauntlet. It looks open but puts them in the open for longer. Throw a few AP mines in there and they will have a terrible time
I decided to join Soulsnipers server because of these youtube videos & I was a new player. Great server for new & veteran players alike. I now have 540hrs in the game. Love you Angrymoose.
Nice man, glad you found a home!
Outstanding video, and possibly your best camera work yet.

Started watching your vids a month ago, have played my first few games and had such a blast. YOU deserve a medal.
I did not realize you can build a Garrison inside a built Bunker !
Good information !!!
I just wish more people sit and did fortifications its so fun and useful in the long run. Also great video
The main problem is how much resources it costs
@@zwartzaad4879 Thats true but if you are a support player you can drop your supplies go take a supply truck and drive it from HQ to the builders and then you can just do that 2-3 times and you can build up a whole point with 4-5 engineers
@@TheMitko2222 i can't speak for your experience but i can't even get people to build garries x(
@@zwartzaad4879 I feel you :D It's annoying when people don't do it. I just try to be a bit more "pushy" so they eventually build it
I remember playing one of French maps where one of the points was a farm.
Me and three other players absolutely FORTIFIED the ever loving crap out of that whole place! I mean, you could NOT get in at all! And then the match ended without getting a chance to put it to the test! 😂😂😂
Yeah you end up hoping your team loses, just so you can test it out ❤😂
@@barking_mad6649 not a chance. An ant couldn’t have gotten through! 😂
Awesome video!! Lvl 120 in the game here and a lot of stuff was mind-clearing for me regarding proper defense setup. Thanks!
For that engineer that builds everything in the strong point
Just started playing engineer 3 weeks ago, this helps a lot !
Love your videos! I'm a gamepass peasant and learning quickly, amazing game
This was a great video - super well done 👏
More players need to see this, can be a game changer if a team builds up the right areas.
Love your videos ! Been very helpful learning hell let loose!
Glad to hear it!
Didn’t know that the manpower node reduces supply box cool-downs, thanks!
I often find that a well constructed defense actually hurts the defenders. Blueberries will sit in the circle and shoot out, allowing the enemy to complete surround them. However, if there's no defences, then they tend to push out. Just like lemmings walking until they hit a barrier.
Best thing is to have a single engineer's worth of barbed wire, and a few cover barricades, which forces the untrained player to push out.
Wish it didn't have to be this way, but it's true.
I always think of this as more of a "lack of garries" issue.
Very possibly, but there's always the problem of inexperienced players saying "defend the point" and letting those three perimeter garrisons go down uncontested.
When I command I try (try!) to put three garrisons around a point and say for example "Charlie squad, that's your garrison! Defend that garrison"...
Doesn't always work, but if you can get three good squad leaders out of eight you might stand a chance.
Great video, as always!
Being a beginner to the game (not shooters) these videos help tremendously to understand WTH is going on. Keep up the great work!
Glad to hear it! More on the way!
I just started playing this week and I’m shocked at how little people work with each other. I’m having more fun with the medic and engineer role then I am actually engaging in combat. It seems like such a no brainer how much supply nodes, barricades, barb wire and refill boxes can help defend a spot yet hardly anyone ever seems to do so and it’s not like they take a crazy amount of time either to set up. Absolutely loving the game and your videos have helped so much
Got to play against you in your server! The community is a blast and the videos are awesome man
Great vid soul 🫡💪🏻
I was actually trying to find a video about this like maybe a week ago on your channel after watching the engineer guide.
8:20 Great job placing those hedgehogs Mendez!
went into this game wanting to be an engineer and building a lot but found a lot of joy doing supply truck runs instead. seems like a rarer role when i usually find trucks left empty by the roadside and will get a lot of points once engineers see the mountain of supplies by an objective. :]
i just realized i played a game with you the other day on one of the forest map i forget, i saw the name soulsniper and i just saw you scrolling youtube lol, how funny
This is all very interesting, and damn true as far as I can tell from the battlefield! Problem is, as always, with public battles most players aren't willing to invest time and think about this to even lend a hand. There should be organized events with rules and squads with roles, but I struggle to find those.
I love playing engineer. Making a good defense that holds against a hard fighting team is some of the most satisfying gameplay.
That last point about garries should have been the first. It's easy to tell a good team and a bad team from the first 10 minutes of a match just on this alone.
Wow I never put the two together! Your channel and the soul sniper server! I play on it a lot cool!
Nice man! See you out there!
I love building a point up. Just to look up and realize the rest of the team is just outside the point while we're being flanked and losing the point.
I usually go for tanker or anti tank in the start of games but if we lose second point pretty quickly, I resort to engineer and make a fortress out of the last point. I always layer my defenses with bunkers spaced behind barbed wire and use barricades to give cover to move between bunkers and other hard cover.
yes new vid of soul sniper
great guide
Another consideration is to create defensible areas around the strong point using the environment. This could mean using building clusters or hedges, but the idea is creating an outpost for your team as the first line of defense. But, it takes time and resources away from SP builds, so yeah.
I hope they make the class leveling system better. I have over 100 hours in and barley at level 4 with all classes. I’m not even that bad at the game 😭
Excellent video. I learned all this the hard way on console but still very good. Now, if we could just get people to start TALKING on console, this sort of thing would be possible...
I've adopted your redeploy as supply or engineer strategy, thank you.
One note, the US tank traps can be alternated to allow tanks to get through (I.e. friendlies) but still slow down enemy tanks so AT can flank as well as placed mines to be placed.
Great tip! I didn't know that!
@@SoulSniperYT yeah basically make them do a little serpentine in 1st or 2nd gear rather than just cruising through. Really helpful on the bridge on Remagen and friendly Tank crews don’t bitch at you in chat lol
My favorite part of Offensive is building up the second to last point
The amount of times ive had to explain to commanders that they cant just have 1 garrison on the strong point but multiple garrisons so they can act not only as back up garrisons but as radar as well to inform us of the direction the enemy may be coming in is preposterous. Only to be told "no i disagree i think it should be on the strong point", not realizing that that's a guaranteed way of having that garrison become locked out bc thats where the enemy team is ultimately trying to go.
I'm fine with a Garry right on point as long as there are other garries surrounding it.
I can recommend building in a way that makes enemies move into the open instead of stopping them. Then they are less likely to blow it up
You’re metaphors are hilarious mate 😂👍 putting barbed wire in the trenches is such a dick move but it’s so funny to see them have to jump out to get past and you can easy see them 👍
If you got good communication and are all the same opinion - BOOM
The problem with fortifications is that you have to build them on the middle three points, and actually getting in and out without Recon using you for target practice is pretty hard. Then when you build your fortifications, no one uses them, or they don't provide enough of an advantage to make the loss of a combat player worthwhile. Now, if you could build more useful things like emplaced machine guns, or stockpiles to re-arm AT weapons or equip other classes with Panzerfausts or AT grenades, that would be worth it.
I had a game where a squad tasked with building fortifications turned every point into a prison
My game last week. For once in the blue moon we made a castle. It's crazy. High level defences, walls etc.
Then when the enemy arrived one bombing run and it got obliterated lol.
How about a guide on how to recognize the different air drops as they parachute down? Friend or foe? Supply or air head? Keep up the great vids!
Good idea! I'll add it to my idea pool. Thanks!
All engineers in a game if youre defending on offensive should be building defenses on either the final objective or the most defendable objective(Example:Town Center) while a support or 2 runs supplies. Bunkers should be fully upgraded by barriers are to be left alone till everything else is done. Every narrow entryway should have at least 1 AP mine. Roadways should have AT Mines and barriers before the objective would be visible to a enemy tank. Finally large entry ways should be barb wired off. Its also very good to learn each map so yknow immediately which objective would be the easiest to defend.
I didn't know HLL had engineers much less fortification mechanics. I love this kind of gameplay especially if it can yield advantages in firefight.
Yea, you'll have to try it out!
3:30 that's the problem right there. Supplies are used for garrisons
Isn't the munitions node the one that halves the cooldown on the support box?
Also you zoomed in on a fuel node while calling it a repair station.
Still the best vid on the engineer role! So much to do outside of node building!
No. Manpower node. The one that looks like a tent. I played Support for 2/3 my time the past few months.
Get within about 50m to the manpower node to cut the cooldown down to 2mins total time instead of 5mins.
Rogal Dorn approves.
had many games where the fortification's turned the game around.
"You can build a repair station" - shows a fuel node :^)
Lol I didn't have a shot of a repair station and got lazy ;)
I think repair stations even stack, so build 2 or 3
Need an artillery video!!
Noted!
This is the best game
My fav for sure
all my homies love nodes
I hate it so much you take 4 of the 5 enemy points with ease only to find out that the enemy turned the last point into a complete fortress. I therefore flatout refuse to build any fortifications myself.
I thought this was a very good introduction for anyone wanting to work together to build fortifications. I think putting a garrison inside a bunker is overrated and counterproductive because it prevents your machine gunners and other infantry from being able to effectively use the bunker to hold enemies off from the safety of its protection, creates congestion when players spawn and were probably never designed for this use by the developers in the first place, although that said, I do wish that certain houses and other buildings could be used as garrisons, for example, the house on Artillery Battery on Saint Mere Eglise. Also, placing level 2 or level 3 barricades slightly behind barbed wire used to block roads can be really effective, it gives your own side a fortified position to shoot approaching enemies, and creates a surface for mg bipods (unlike the tank traps), they also work equally well at blocking vehicles like the gates or hedgehogs and prevent infantry, snipers and tanks from shooting through the barbed wire into the open spaces behind them where other friendlies are likely to be moving around. I wouldn't suggest this for barbed wire placed in open fields though.
Thank you! I agree to some extent on the garrison in a bunker thing. And yea there are definitely annoying restrictions with garries and fortifications. Kursk is a good example. Half the time you can't build a Garry in a trench....yet it's like the only damn cover!
I still need to learn how to not get the supply truck stuck on individual grains of sand...
One does not simply....
How are you able to get that camera angle on 2:38 or 1:38?

I finally got my platinum trophy 🏆 on this game.. man what a grind
Congrats, nice work!
@@SoulSniperYT I appreciate it bro it was definitely not an easy one to get
In today's episode of How It's Made.. lol
Played the game last week for the first time (ps5), and despite the cool sound design and the Nice maps i almost only have bad experiences with the game, i have played now like 12 games in Total, have not experienced any communication and i only Join games where the enemy is totally dominating the match, very frustrating because the game looks cool
Keep server hopping straight away until you see brackets with clan names next to players. Google the clans to see if they are serious/competitive clans, or randoms.
If more players have no brackets, it'll be likely an assortment of disorganised chaos. More bracket clan names, more likely coordinated funtimes.
Also change the server search region in the menu with the square button to Australia if in our region. I got US mates that prefer our region due to we communicate more they reckon.
it just feels like there is never enough time to do this lol
Yea it's definitely a gamble!
Dandelions , ants, grains of sand😂 facts
Heh good old HLL. Gotta love it!
I hate playing on console at least bc I get yelled at by squad leads as commander when I put more than one Garry on defense 😂 they complain that we are too spread out just bc every dot isn’t in the circle like yeah bro lemme make our team fish in a barrel for you rq
Great vid as always! Loved the tip about the garrison inside the German bunker. Does this work with the Soviet and/or American bunkers as well?
It does indeed. However those bunkers don't protect as well as the German ones that are made of concrete.
Soul, do you like the limited fortifications in HLL or would you want it to be more like PS or Squad? #SuperFOBs 😏
I think what's in the game currently should be expanded upon a bit. Being able to slightly adjust the barbed wire length for example to fit the area would be cool. Or even just making it less picky about the terrain and making it easier to place in general. It can be finicky at times. I don't really play Squad much so I don't have much experience with how it works there, but it sounds like it's more fleshed out than what HLL has.
i used to do it unfortunately i can't play much anymore due to time constraint and pressure of 2 jobs at once :(
Hey man I’m sorry I know the struggle, I’ve been getting off work at 10 pm lately and it’s difficult sometimes to balance gaming HLL.
@@Jones25ful yesah:(
9:35 but that's not a repair station lol
How dare you catch that!
I 100% disagree that the first supply truck should be used for garrisons. First, it tends to waste 100 supply. Sure, sometimes that 100% can come in handy, but normally I see them just go to waste.
What should happen instead? The Commander and Squad Leaders should all communicate the need for every squad to have one support person, at least in the initial push. He should follow the squad leader who will tell him where to place the garrison. If the squad leaders would do this, you could easily get 3 to 4 garrisons up very quickly. From there, the Commander should designate two of those squad leaders to take their support guy to the two rear towns to place garrisons. If you have enough squads, you can have two of the squad leaders do this during the initial push.
I can't count the number of times I've seen the enemy cap the first point, and then quickly cap the next point, because there are no garrisons there. Sometimes, they even cap the last point very quickly due to this.
Would have been nice to have some engineers there building, so that one guy can't take down the garrison, and start capping the final point, right? Leave the supply trucks for the engineers. It only takes 50 supply to place a garrison in the blue. Oh, that's right. That just happens to be how much supply the support class drops at one time.
I don't disagree in theory, however in your average pub game, unfortunately this generally doesn't happen. Not enough support players who actually play support to build garrisons rather than the grind til they unlock the flamethrower.
@@SoulSniperYT Weak Squad Leaders. I've got enough points to be level 40 Officer, if they allowed it. It's the first class I got to level 10. I always demand a player be support, and tell them to follow me. Before the timer on the supply box, I would even place the OP, and tell them to redeploy to get me another box, if necessary. Normally, the player always did as I asked. If they didn't, I redployed so I could get to the screen to kick them from the squad. Then, I would ask somebody else to do it. I would do this until somebody did as I asked.
Same for building nodes. In my experience, if you know what you want your people to do, and ask them, they normally do it. Same for sticking together, and working in close proximity with each other.
My experience is that players actually appreciate the leader actually leading. When I do, they tend to give me a commendation. Occasionally, I created the squad so I could go node hunting, and left the rest of the squad to fend for themselves. This is when you don't get a commendation from them.
But that's just my experience.
Lately, I've seen players as low as level 1, literally level 1, taking squad leader, because in one of the servers I play in, it kill the whole squad if two two warnings go unheeded without somebody stepping up to be squad leader. The average level of the people stepping up has been around level 10 to level 55. Meanwhile, guys who are level 125 to 300, don't step up. I do if necessary, but I try to get somebody else to do it first. We need more doing it.
By the way, I do tell them to check out your tutorial when they get the chance.
I noticed alot of console players dont understand this game and how it works
Build the best damn fortress in the world.
Only to have it overrun because nobody built defensive garries 😑😑
Defences need to be built around the perimeter of the objective. Not inside the circle.
Until I come along and satchel the poop out of it 😮
That's why having layers of defenses is ideal, and having troops patrolling outside your defenses to make it hell to even get to them.

in fact, lvl 3 anti tank arent played enough either!
This all sounds cool but how tf do we get 50 people to build a whole city of sharp steel? Two random engineers can't do that...
I'm here to rant about the melee bs mechanics, I get black ops 2 knife lunged every time a guy uses a knife on me, but I am behind a enemy for a good 20 seconds trying stab him and all he did to avoid it was walk a step to the left and I try again to tab and He avoids not even knowing I'm there, I cannot even move closer since The enemys body is preventing me but still no melee kill, and bruh turns around and I get sht instantly and die, and today, I sneak up on Russain in Stalingrad, Can Hear, NOTHING, and I go for the kill, the shovel does nothing, THEN He moves and shoots me after I stop on the enemys body and the melee attack is done, only after that does He move meaning I was making contact and shoots me, WTF, FIX THIS GAME, ADDED A BUG FIC UPDATE AND IT ADDED MORE BUGS, SOME ROCKSTAR GTA5 FORTNITE MINECRAFT INDEV BS.
I sometimes struggle with melee as well. Let me ask you this. How do you attempt to melee? Do you use the melee hotkey? Or do you scroll to your melee weapon and click to swing?
