This must be the most comprehensive display of what pedals can do. He wasn’t twisting knobs swapping back and forth. This guy knows his equipment and how to use it. Sometimes when the mega bands come on like kiss or Metallica it’s just their techs talking and it’s more “yeah we have this pedal and I control it in the back”. This guy knows exactly what every switch and number is doing to his tone.
You sneaky bastards... reuploading old videos ;) ... but it works with me! This is such a great one! Tom is a beast. the point that he stays in the rythem, and waits several bars, when he engages a pedal (at 15:15 for instance) is testament to his musical mindset. He is not demoing gear, he is creating music all the time. Big fan :)
Oh okay, I thought this WAS a new one...certainly won't hurt to see it again. Tom is totally amazing and man can he put together an incredible array of pedals! What a guru...someday I'd love to play through that Ebo e-verb, just love luscious reverb.
Uncle Larry is unquestionably one of the most zen, chill, down-to-earth, totally zoned out monster guitar players out there. And his primary musical genre isn't really even my true cup of tea all the time. But I easily recognize true kool kats when I see them. No mystery at all why Tom is one of the most in-demand studio guys around. Pure tone and gear wisdom right there boys and girls.
i'm unquestionably addicted to watching these rig rundowns. Thanks PG.) But this one.. This guy is a treasure. I've already stopped and reversed a hundred times in this vid and continue to learn more from Tom. It's videos just like these that give us olds out here hope and on-going education on a platform that's far from perfect. Thank you!
Uncle Larry's use of the Boss EQ makes total sense! I never knew how to use that pedal until I saw this video. Plus his playing is amazing, he has that touch and tone on his fingers. He has become my recent all time favorite guitar player. Cheers! 🎸
Tom is the coolest guy on strings , even his talking is a vibe on his own , after a stressed day you just listen to Tom , better than a tranquilliser :)
This is a little of what makes a top session man, knowing how to drag unthinkable tones, just to please a producer. ie can I have the Gretch sound? in a milli second set a couple of sliders there ya go. Tom's the total package. 🏴👍👍👍🥃Respect to you fellas.
There are nuances of tone volume, EQ, etc....but with Tom ....there are degrees of nuance as a vocabulary where ...the nuance could be a microcosm of cinematic or enigmatic sound expression given Tom's extreme knowledge of the recorded and live world.....pure genius....pure inspiration....a producers 'dream' session player whose tone arsenal is not limited by infinity, but by desire and search of the unheard nuance that Tom uses on a daily basis.......
I love how 'into it' Buk is - his passion for every aspect of the instrument is infectious. Plus of course he can play to a level most of us can only dream of. A true inspiration.
❤ a master mind for making music and all accomplished with a sweet, sweet portion of unbelievable tone. I’m such a genuine admirer of all things Tom Bukovac.❤
I don’t think 🤔 I’ve seen someone better showcase their board than ol’ Uncle Larry. Tastiest 😋 playing. Yo that Dispatch pedal is ready for some Floyd Esq stuff. And I couldn’t help but notice on the POG that last little riff reminded me of that movie SolarBabies. Cheers. Great gear boss.
Best thing I ever did was download the pdf manual for every single pedal on my board and reading them. Taking the time to understand the features available. The combinations were so cool. Right now my favorite thing is running my monuments tap tempo harmonic tremolo into my bass synth wah for a cool lfo wah effect. I also turn the synth wah off and hold down the pedal to simulate cab emulation of a 8X10 cab since it comes with it in the bass synth wah, that little feature changed my tone completely when I kick in the pedal. Like a megaphone got turned on. I like to layer my delays and reverbs and then use a chorus to gloss them all over and make them brighter too.
I love this shit. Tom knows great tone just comes down to some basic gear and your hands but he plays into these magic solution questions perfectly. Asking for a technical solution, "What's the mod?" "Oh they just quiet them down and go in and take all of the hiss out of them. This one actually isn't even modded.". Brilliant!!!
I’ve Learnt so much from Tom, be it thing’s he does on the Guitar to just tips on gear, and we’re to place stuff, such a Great Player and really knows his Stuff.. And the main thing is he’s still totally musical even just doing this demo great Stuff…I Especially liked the coffee stain on the Strymon Brig 🤣🤣 Good ole Uncle Larry 🎸🙏⭐️🌞👍🏻🎸
@Tom Bukovak-->Try the Fender Pinwheel for an even better sounding Leslie cabinet slow speed sound or fast speed sound plus u get 3 distinctive Leslie Type Sounds & you get a type of control that let's you control your fast to slow speeds based on how hard or soft you pick or dig in.
Hearing Tom explain the importance of an EQ makes me feel i'm doing something right for a change. I have always tried to stress the importance of an EQ. It doesn't matter if the EQ is in a guitar effect's chain or in a audio hifi scenario. The EQ allows you to bump up or take down Selected frequencies. It is a great and often cheap way of boosting your audio signal.
“That’s the kind of music we’re playing around here.” 😂😂😂 I don’t know why, but that just cracked me up. This dude is like, everybody’s super cool older brother. How am I just now getting turned on to this dude?
Hey JB, The Uncle Larry RRD this was part of was 2 years ago!! Did you just find this in the corner of your desk under a pile of papers or something?? Tommy is still awesome and one of my top 5 fav's, as you are too!! Thanks bro!! 8) --gary
I'm a total gear nerd players player like him. I've been playing 40 years. People have a hard time accepting players like us. Unless you're in with the in crowd most average people are put off by all the pedals and the talent. It's kind of weird but I wouldn't change a thing. I always get a hard time for all the amps, guitars, and pedals I have. I'll bring 3 guitars and 10 pedals to a show and I always get a couple guys that say something like "what do you need all that gear for" or "I don't need any pedals". I guess people are just insecure and jealous unless you're their buddy or something. You have to let it go and just be you and play because you love playing music.
Everyone accepts him, cause his resume and output. You on the other hand come off brash, self proclaimed this and that and not introspective at all. Any guitar player that sees skill is happy to hear it. To be a players player means they like you, you're saying people don't... No one is put off by skill... It might be your hipster, exiled by mistake complex. People hate people that talk like a spoiled rich kid. I mean look at your reply to neutral comments on your channel. You talk like a rich brat. Don't compare yourself to Tom, you're not even a cool person to begin with, you treat others like shit. Check your replies on your channel. How many people you spit on in your lifetime?
I was going to yank my EQ off a board I was building but was like, "nah, I can do anything with that that might be needed, I can help control myself in the mix to an extent with that and make my guitar into anything or mix a fuzz into searing or maniacally monstrous." The EQ is your Swiss Army pedal. Throw off something else, EQ: don't leave home without it.

Working mostly in studios I guess he’d have to know how to get every bit of usability out of his setup.
You took the words right out of my mouth. He had his sounds dialed in and they sound tasty and sweet. And his passion comes thru.
That’s why he is know as the Session Man aka Uncle Larry. Look up his credits and who he has played with live. Buk is the best in the business.
This dudes a magician. He's such a great player.

❤Tom Bukovac starts to play and we all get wonderfully transfixed. Titan of tone and touch - my FAVORITE guitar player❤️
The pog w the Leslie was Hauntingly beautiful
Still the greatest rig rundown ever!!!!!

Tom Bukovac is the Steve Lukather of Nashville. He's on everyone's records. You may not have heard of him but you've heard him.
Except he’s gay.
@@plutoloco2378so are you.
idiot anaware !
@@plutoloco2378
But what famous parts can you say was tom playing? Lukather had some pretty iconic parts
@@plutoloco2378hard to take the shirtless mustache guy seriously on this topic
Uncle Larry is a national treasure
Funny dynamic between these two. Beer swilling, slouched over Tom and John who looks like he just came back from a yoga retreat.
Ohio vs California
I love Tom's youtube channel. He is such a chill dude
This dude is a serious soundcrafter of the highest order. Excellent interview.
I zoned out after a while, but when he played the Lex my heart skipped a beat. I def want to get my hands on one!

Another testament of why the EQ pedal is such a necessity on any board. So underated. Thanks Tom. Cheers!

This is the first I've heard of Tom Bukovac. He's REALLY good!
The emotion you pull out of those pedals is amazing....not kidding.
This might be my favorite pedal board video yet. Love ya Tom!

This is one of the greatest rig videos on the interweb.
One of Uncle Larry's Home Skoolers here!
Great reissue video, more than happy to watch again. Love these guys
HE IS %10000000 SPOT ON about the BOSS EQ. This thing will realllllllly allow you to dial in humbuckers so well.
One of the best pedalboard vids ever. He is so psyched about every pedal he has. Simple (not easy) playing, so tasty!
Fantastic tones and great rundown of the purpose of each thing
Great review John and Tom! You can tell Tom loves to talk about his pedalboard and how he uses it.
JB is completely concentrating. Home Skoolin with Uncle Larry

Can you do a video on how you killed all the noise! It blows my mind how quiet your rig is
This may be the first time I have ever seen Tom without a Rolling Rock 🤣🍺🍻
This should have been a single video a long time ago toms pedalboard is very important to understanding studio session work.
Uncle Larry doing his thing. Legend!
Wow what a great player and so creative with effects
Wow, this is the zen in sound control
"You don't really hit the amp that hard at all, right"
"The Rat does"

The POG section was amazing
Best guitar player out there right now. IMHO.
Tom is about as pro as it gets for guitar playing! just a monster
Грамотно выбирает, глубоко изучает. Круто!
Very deep and clear, amazing!
Tom is the players player... It's all effortless for him at this point

Love anything Uncle Larry. However, this might be not current already. He was raving about an Empress EQ pedal the other day.

Super cool pedal board.
So cool!
what's that black pedal next to his pedalboard he uses at 19:24? a verb ?an expression pedal for a slapback echoe ? 🤓
It looks black from that angle but it’s green they zoomed in on it in the video at around 12 minutes-ish it’s a Strymon brigadier
12:40
So good! What a cool dude!
I was trying to see his settings but realized he doesn't have settings. He just adjusts to whatever he needs.
Yeah if you’re in a studio doesn’t really make sense to have set settings since you’re never gonna use the same sound twice
He just changed my mind about the big pog. Make room for it dammit!
Hi everyone! Quick question. Is he using his eq pedal into the front of the amp or in the effects loop? I guessed the first option but I'm not sure...
5 Stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Where’s the eq in the pedal order. Before or after the drives? Using for volume boost so I assume after
great combination🎉
Thanks :D
Hello Uncle Larry, You OBD-1 Nobles I noticed Vortex written on a plate that attaches the pedal - what year is this? Is it the good one with the JFET?

Curious. Volume pedal is after the gain stages? Set up in the middle of the chain?
what tunes i splayed around 12 miutes there ? its so melancholic :)

Anyone know where the GE-7 sits in the signal chain? Pre or post dirt pedals?
