Hey there... Just wanted to let you know that AMSOIL Signature Series 0W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil now meets the Chrysler MS-12633 Spec. So now there is another option other than Mopar or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.
This is a well done how to video I would add a few tips that I have learned over time. The first time you remove the oil drain plug before you loosen it use a magic marker and put a mark on the drain plug and one next to that mark on the oil pan so when you reinstall it snug it down and turn until the marks line up and it is just as tight as when you started. second tip is prefill the filter with new oil before you install it this will soak the filter paper in side the filter and your engine oil pressure will get up to normal faster as the oil pump will not have to fill the oil filter before it starts pumping the oil through the engine. and the last thing I do that is totally OCD on my part and total over kill is after the oil is drained and before I put the drain plug back I pour a half quart of new oil in the engine and let it flush the last dregs of old oil out when I see fairly clean oil dribbling out the pan I put the plug back and tighten till the marks line up.
Work Play Drive because any oil that goes into the filter in unfiltered oil. The engine will build full oil pressure with or without the filter being profiled in about the same amount of time. Like milliseconds. There is a reason all the engine manufacturers don’t say anything about profiling the filter. Even Cummins, some of their oil filters hold several quarts and if you read the literature, says NOTHING about pre filling the filter. But someone that puts oil in a oil pan without the drain plug in it knows more than Cummins engineers right? You didn’t even “know” to fill the filter until you read this comment, but now it’s automatically the correct thing to do? Makes sense.... 🤦♂️
Respect for having your children involved, sadly we dont see enough of that these days. and its never to early to teach them the mopar or no car rule. Edit: little tip, if you took a heat gun and cautiously heated up the bottom of the funnel it will allow you to reform it to get that bend in there to make it easier to fill up. I did this for mine, first one I went overboard and melted the funnel, but using gentle heat and small bends at a time you can get that perfect bend in the funnel to make filling easier without causing any interuption to the flow of the funnel

Awesome. This was super instructive on the jack points / jack stand resting points. Also, I feel dumb for never thinking of pulling the car onto a piece of wood to get the extra ground clearance for the jack if you don't have a super low profile one. Been changing my own oil for about 15 years and I still learned a few cool ideas from this. Great video production as always.
I watched this prior to changing the oil on my own Challenger. Although I have been around cars and working on them my whole life, I learned quit a few new tips from you. I use to get under the car with just the hydraulic jack supporting the car until a few months ago the seal on a brand new jack gave way while I was NOT under the car.....pretty scary to say the least. Loved how you were sharing this with your young children! Thanks for sharing!
Work Play Drive, Great video. Just picked up a gently used 16 SP a few weeks ago from an out of town dealership. About ready for an oil change but I'm going to change it myself because like you would rather have my own hands on it. Glad to see all the tips for jacking up a low profile vehicle including the jack pad. This pad will come in handy on my 13 Chrysler 300S Hemi AWD as well. Great to see you with your daughter to. Mine's 19 and I've taught her how to change her oil in her Ranger and how not to be intimidated by it. Even if she doesn't get all the details we get to spend the the valuable time. Dads like that make a huge difference in the world. Thanks!
Congrats on the Scat Pack, almost 2 years and I still smile when I start her up... Those Jack pads are a bit costly, but I like how they keep my trim from getting mangled. My kids are my biggest fans and I'm going to soak that in for as long as I can.
An instructional car video that's well lit, well filmed, and well narrated? You've got a knack for this. I've been looking into getting a Challenger R/T Scat Pack, so I've been looking at maintenance videos, and was getting tired of seeing dark blurry videos from terrible angles with little explanation, so this was actually really impressive.
Great video! Thank you. Changing my Scatpack’s oil tomorrow. It’ll be my first time ever changing a cars oil. I have all of the tools you stated. Just have to get the torque wrench and socket kit. You did well explaining with detail. I appreciate it.
Hello. Just changed the oil on my Hellcat yesterday by using this video and another one for the I/C so thank you for that. The only troublemsome part for me was to put the first skidplate back on, or.. skidcover w/e. BUT... only because i tried to put the clips back in as one piece, when I did the clips one part at the time... it was suddenly much easier xD Getting Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is next to impossible here in Sweden as well so thank god for Amazon and american sites that ship abroad.
Thanks a lot for this video. This is my second time that my car needs a oil change. The 1st time I went tho the dealer the second time I am planning on doing it myself thanks to your video.
Awesome. I find it actually takes less time for me to buy all the supplies and change my own oil and it does to sit in the dealership and wait for them to do it 🙃
Good work getting your daughter involved. I try to do the same thing with my daughters. My oldest loves to get her hands dirty and help. It's a great way to spend time with each other.
I listing to the part with your father...sitting on the bumper of an impala from 66. Very similar to me, working as an 9 year old boy with my Dad in 1980, putting a Typ 4 Porsche-Engine in his 1979 Beetle-Convertible. Erverywhere the same :-)
Ty so much you’ve explained everything in detail by detail is very very helpful. I will continue to watch your videos. Thanks much again. God bless and I will be safe.🙏🏽
Trying to make sure my kids have that hands on experience my dad shared with me. It wasn’t fun all the time but it definitely helped develop the skills I have today.
Thanks for another outstanding video! Very informative! I'm getting ready to do my first oil change but I didnt know about that cool little tool that attaches to the pinch weld/frame (gonna need to pick one up)
Thank you! When I wanted to do my first Oil Change I couldn't find anything that was clear. hope this helps and yeah the jack pad was a good find, a little on the expensive side, but totally worth it and it looks cool too.
Work Play Drive , It's like you read my mind when you made this video. I couldn't find anything for a scatpack challenger, plenty for the scatpack charger, but none for our cars. Regarding the jack pad, I agree that the price is a little steep but it's a one time purchase that I'll use for the life of the car. And I'll say it again, thanks for the helpful video.
Awesome How To video. Just recently got 2016 SXT Charger and I like to watch How To videos just so I know what I am getting into. The first mod I am wanting to do is the air intake and I couldn't help but notice the beautiful one you have installed. I looked through all your videos and could only find the one where you removed your headlight. I was wondering where you bought your intake, it's an absolute beauty.
Thank you! The intake in this video replaced the hellcat air box. The intake is part of my Shaker hood it's the Cervini's Ram Airbox. The airbox grill is definitely a beautiful piece. Cervinis does make stand alone Ram Air kits Unfortunately they currently don't make anything for the 2015+
The ZL1 Premium Magpad amzn.to/2NjwJCc I have 2 and after 4 years and many times per month lifting the car for mods and detailing my pinch welds looked like NEW. a little costly but totally worth it.
Awesome video! Thank you. I was wondering what you call the little red metal protectors that your jack pushes on? I need to pick a cpl up for my 392 shaker that I have recently purchased.
is there a playlist or a series of maintenance you have or can do for your audience brother? i wish i learned these life skills growing up but my pops just didn't do his own maintenance lol so here i am
Well done. I would love to know how many belly pans are thrown away without putting them back on. I have to go to the dealer because living in an apartment all of my tools are gone. It's not about the money it's because I'm picky and do not trust anybody working on my SRT.
+Robert Lyon same issue when I moved from my parents to an apartment in stopped working on cars. The dealer or my trusted mechanic did all the work. Now that I have this car and a place to work on it I'm going to try and do as much as I can myself.
Good info on a oil change. For the filter removal tool do you have an alternative you'd suggest as the linked model is no longer available? Also, I see you only use 2 jack stands. Is it better to jack up on 4 stands to get more old oil out?
Getting the car up on 4 stands is a bit sketchy. The 2 in the front are sufficient and provide enough room to fit. I’ll look into the tool and see what I can find.
I found a good alternative for the filter wrench by JDMON Universal since they don't offer the Craftsman anymore. Also do you think 3 ton stands will be strong enough to hold up, that's only 1.5 ton per side on a 4k + lbs car [shrug]? amzn.to/2NnbcFo amzn.to/2GYjOkG
awsome video "MOPAR OR NO CAR", i just subscribe to your you tube channel ,cant wait to c more videos , i got a 2016 dodge challenger 392 scatpack shaker R/T and im gonna be up for the 1st oil change very soon and i agree i dont trust just any body with my car either.Thumbs up !
Yes I recommend getting one, just be careful it makes you want more engine bling once you step back and look at how nice it looks. In this video I don't have one, but I did wind up getting one from Billet Technology. you will see how it works at 5 minutes 20 seconds in this video ruclips.net/video/w9m-0QjSLLg/видео.html In my hellcat I have 2 catch cans, in my hellcat, instagram.com/p/By_CmPyF5w7/
Is there a crush washer on that drain bolt that needs to be changed with each oil change? Were your jack pads for the 2 inch or 3-inch opening at the pinch weld? I used your link on Amazon but those particular pads are coming up as "unavailable." Then I measured my '16 Scat Pack and it is only 2 inches at the weld. Very helpful video, thanks.
The cut out in the rocker trim only has a small opening my Jack pad is a littl larger, but it slips behind the rocker trim. It's currently out of stock on Amazon and zl1addons.com but they do have a smaller version on their website available. I bought a second one 2 weeks ago, so they mush have just run out.
Yeah, I read the manual and plan on sticking to the 6.4L break in process which means no full throttle until I'm over 800KM or something like that. The SRT comes with 275's and the Scat Pack comes with 245's so tire spin shouldn't be as bad. Also can't do hard breaking and no highway. Still fun and sounds crazy good.
I did not know about jack tool (was previously curious what that spot under car is far), but car is wedged too tight to use jack on it, so i fabricated wood pre-step with the plastic rhino ramps so the lower black valance does not get broke/damaged. just changed oil today on 2012 6.4L SRT8 header orange viper 6-spd. with 3150 miles. third oil change. kept under cover rarely driven. got 1970 6-pk 440 and 1972 rallye 340 challengers had since 1981, use to have 4 speed 340 duster/twister, but had to sell years back, too bad those go for lots money now. i'm an old fart as you probably guess by now having those rides. i say new generation are cute and lovely and quite but the old school ones have "balls" of pure raw mechanical power and less agile, not prone to breakage like new temper mental ones. I don't use gloves, getting oil and gas on hands never hurt no one. i enjoy your video. it is OK but not necessary to open the fill cap before filing, i think the drain is same either way but do what you like.
Hey man, thank you very much for your advice. I'm about to do my first oil change on my charger rt, my question is is there a particular jack and stand i should buy? Your links lead me to some fairly cheap ones, but someone recommended i buy the much more expensive ones that hold more weight. I want to get stands instead of ramps just so I have the ability to remove my wheels whenever I want. Thanks again man.
You will want stands rated for at least 2 tons. The entire car weighs 2.5 tons but you never lift the whole car at once. Personally I like the ones with the hole and peg design. I always question the ratcheting ones.
Work Play Drive ok and these torin big reds are the hole and peg ones your talking about? I just want to take all precautions since its my first time lol
The easy way requires 2 of the Jack pads I reference in the comments. The rear has the same cut out in the rocker panel, behind that cutout you will see a rubber puck (hockey puck size) . the spacing between the 2 is awkward so what I do is use a jack on the rubber pad, lift the car, then use the jack pad and jack stand on the pinch weld at the cutout. I should probably do a video.
Work Play Drive that would be great. I'd love to see a video of you putting the car on 4 stands not just jacking the rear. I've always been iffy about jacking the car onto 4 stands 1 corner at a time. New SRT 392 owner here.
How do you like your Cirvini Shaker? Just bought a new Scat Pack Wide body and thinking about that shaker. Do you think you really got an additional 15 HP to make an even 500? (haha like that matters) Didn't know about the frame stamped triangles either. Gonna dump the oil after the first 1000 miles so this helped. Thanks
Glad to help. I truly love my cervinis shaker. The size, shape and quality are perfect. I daily the car year round (except in snow and ice) and both the hood painted by cervinis and the shaker finish are still flawless over 2 years later. I have 2 videos on the purchase and part of the install if you want more info.
Wondering I have seen people put jack stands we’re you lifted with jack and jack the car up we’re you put the jack stands just want to know if your way is by the book our it doesn’t matter
i just bought a 392 hemi scat pack shaker as well. I hope you know that you can remove the shaker intake with a screw driver that is given to you in the glove box when you buy the car. its four bolts and really easy to remove and replace.
Congrats of getting such an awesome car! My shaker is a little different, than the stock. When I wanted to purchase my Challenger 392 Shaker, I was unable to get the exact Shaker I wanted and could no longer order it for that model year. So I went with the Scat Pack with all the options and converted it to a Shaker using the Cervini's shaker it.
Thanks for the video, correct me if I'm wrong, this is not the 3 ton Pittsburg jack you're using in the vid, this seems like the 1.5 ton small HF one, right? If so that's nice it can lift your heavy car that high! Gob bless the kids btw
Im confused are you suppose to put oil in the oil filter because i see other videos people put Oil but i didnt see him put oil in the filter in this video
You can put oil in the filter, to speed up the delivery, it cuts out the time it takes for the engine to fill the filter. I rarely put oil in the filter and in some cars like my Jeep the filter is inverted so it’s not even possible.
How much oil did you put in new filter before installing? I've worked on USAF Jet's, as well as, Boeing CH-47 Helicopter's and both always used Mobil 1. I will be doing my own oil for now on in my 2018 T/A "392" with Mobil 1...
I fill the filter almost to the top, it takes a few seconds for the oil to soak in and sometimes I need to top it off a few times. I leave about a half inch from the top to prevent it from spilling when I screw it in.
I check mine every other time I stop for gas, the dipstick will read a little low because the oil has not had a chance to descend, but as long as I'm in the safe zone I know I'm fine. The best time to check is on a level surface 15 minutes after driving so the oil has time to settle.
I check once I'm done getting the pump started. Overall the best time to check is when the engine has been to operating temperature then shut down for 5 minutes. This gives the oil time to drain back into the pan. When I am checking it's only been off for about 1 minute. I account for the oil level to be a little low, but ALWAYS within the hashed safe zone.
Does the temperature of the oil have an impact on the oil level? Should oil be checked when the car is cold? Also, how do you feel about ramps instead of a jack and can you recommend any? Thank you!
So how would the dealer lift it, with the lift pads on the diamond mark you pointed it out? And if you were to use a floor jack with out a jack stand would you put the floor jack on the diamond?
I usually put in 6 and check the dipstick. If it’s in the safe range I run the engine, check for leaks, then lower the car. After sitting level for a few minutes I check the dipstick and add what’s needed from the 7th qt.
Thanks man, Appreciate it. That’s a relief, since I saw your message a couple hours after I completed my oil change and surprisingly 6 quarts put me at “safe” level if not a little over it & yes that was after I let the car idle. Although I will say I haven’t double checked the oil dipstick after actually running the car , which I will top off whatever is needed.
Catch can is on the list, jut trying to figure out what Brand and if I want to do it in color. I want to use a dark orange anodize for all my engine parts, just having an issue with the anodize quality of a few parts I"m testing.
There is no oil cooler on the scat pack. If you need info on that see my Hellcat oil change video. I show it around 17 minutes and 50 seconds. ruclips.net/video/D_s9O4GTJSQ/видео.html
I’ve lifted it high enough from the front and rear back point to get both wheels off the ground, but it feels a little sketchy. There is no center jack point mentioned in the service manual so while the pinch weld should hold, it’s not what I would recommend.
@@WorkPlayDrive I was wondering if you lifted from the front jack point enough to get both jack stands under the car, if that would damage anything. I hear the Camaro has such a ridged frame that it is possible with it.
Awesome video I noticed your front brakes look like a 2 piston over a 4 that they use now on the slim body. Do you still have that car? Super easy yeah I'm using the Mopar filters with the penzoil srt. Yeah just slug not over tighten yes must of us have a feel for it 👊🤟. Thanks for the help brother
That was one of the original early release 2015 scat packs they had 4 pistons only for the first few years until they released the “dynamics package” upgrades. I don’t have her anymore and I miss that car almost every day.
@WorkPlayDrive ohh ok got it thanks. Yeah I know I love scatpacks really all the power you need. But the hellcats I'm sure it's fun racing her on the drag strip if u do? Do you feel a huge power difference from scat to the cat? I wish I cab have both you know. I'm actually doing my first oil change myself my 22 only has 1k miles on it so I figure why not Christene her in my Garage 😄
Yes, there are 2 good options The 2 piece Race Ramps RR-56-2 amzn.to/2Nw6ipZ allow for the perfect slope to avoid hitting the chin spoiler and provide an 8" lift. 8" is a good height for changing the oil and the 2 piece design makes it easy for storage. If you want more room go for the Race Ramps RR-XT-2 which give you a 10" lift amzn.to/2N2W9Sz
Whats up man!? So I'm picking up a set of hellcat reps sunday with a nice set of 555 g2's on sunday. I'm pretty petrified about jacking this car up (charger scat). ZL1 is sold out of those pinch weld protectors. Any tips for doing this in a "pinch"? I'm thinking if I notch out a cut down 2x4 piece of wood with a spot for the pinch weld it would essentially be the same premise no?
the 2x4 will not support it safely. Best bet is to wait till you can get some pinch weld protection. Check a few Auto shops you may be able to find something so you can lift the car safely. Does the charger have those rubber pucks in the back in front of the rear wheel? If so you can lift from there.
Work Play Drive it has the rubber pucks in the rear only. Which gave me the idea to buy the hockey puck I literally just walked out of dicks with. I think notching one those should be good no?
That was an old one my favorite Jack is the Orange Daytona Low Profile from Harbor Freight. fits under the car without having to drive up on blocks and it's a fast lift. If you don't have a Harbor Freight near you you can also order the Yellow one from Amazon bit.ly/WPDToolStore
Why would the oil read low on this engine when the car is cold (no start), but read normal after driving for say 15 minutes? I checked it and it was low, drove to the auto parts store and it was good when I checked it again. 4k miles into the oil... Just a question if someone else has had this issue.
Thanks for the great video. I'm considering getting a Scat Pack, anything you could think of that would make you not recommend the car/have you had any issues? Thanks!
it's not a low profile jack but the plate is lower than most, with my jackpad fitted sometimes the hack doesn't fit depending on where I am in the driveway. I drive up on a set of 2 x 4's under 1 tire when this happens
The head of my jack pushes up on the rocker trim when lifting from the pinch weld. for me the ZL1 jack pad prevents that. If your jack has a pinch weld head or doesn't bend the trim you should be good to go.
So I just got my '17 Scat Pack in December. it's got about 900 miles on it, and I have yet to do the first oil change. I am planning on putting it in storage here in the next week or so, but I have one question. I want to do an oil change in April before I take it out of storage, is that a good idea? Or should I do one now? (I have heard things about doing an initial oil change to get out the factory oil. Thanks! Also, thanks for the great video!
It's up to you on the when... according to the manual April would be acceptable depending on your MFG date. However a lot of people take out the factory oil as they feel any build debris could course issues in the future. If you're worried about it do the oil change before storage and again afterwards. On all my new cars the last 15 years I've never done an early factory oil change, I have always followed the manual or on the newer cars the maintenance reminders. On my Scat Pack I change the oil every 6 months or when told by the dash (whichever come first)
Work Play Drive At what percentage of oil life do you decide to change the oil? I know you said every 6 months, but what does that equate to as an oil life percentage in your dash? When my dash says 15% oil life, is that a good time? Or do you change it when it's still in the 20%s.
Usually above 25%, in the winter I Driver her less and in the summer I try to start considering changing the oil at 30% just in case we have an unannounced Track night I'm running clean. Track nights excluded, if you're just daily driving, it's up to you, following the manual and recommendations from the car is totally acceptable
Agreed ramps are convenient, but for the cost of the ramps I need, storing them only for use once every 6 months I'm good with Jacks for now.. I have 2 clubs I ride with. one we usually meet up between 1 and 3 times a week. wednesday nights is a our standard meet and eat with just people from the club. then on weekends theare are usually 1 or 2 shows scheduled. Check out www.northjerseymopar.com I'm also a member of NJ Headturners which is starting to get organized in the northern NJ area. instagram.com/njheadturners/?hl=en
thanks for the video. Its been great. Question for you. Ive noticed most 0w 40 oil thats not the pennzoil ultra platinum says euro on it. Do you know if this is still safe for a 2018 challenger scat?
I believe there are certain specifications that need to be met due to European oil change intervals and top speeds. I'm assuming these specs lead to a "Euro stamp on the container. For the 392 FCA wants you to use an oil that meets (MS-12633) check the container for that specification. I believe only Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and one other brand carries that spec. You can use non (MS-12633) but the manual recommends you only use oils with this spec.
Work Play Drive What sockets are you using for a complete oil change on a 392 challenger? I want to change my own oil but I want to make sure I have all the tools I need for a smooth job. Thank you!
Are you sure where you put those jack stands is the actual frame? Ive always been told that modern unibody cars have no exposed frame at all, and your only real places of support are the pinchwelds and subframe.
@@WorkPlayDrive Yea when I opened the site it says if I did 4 there would be 15% off and i have a buddy with a 15 hellcat and he wants 2 so we will split the bill!👍😎
Hey there...
Just wanted to let you know that AMSOIL Signature Series 0W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil now meets the Chrysler MS-12633 Spec. So now there is another option other than Mopar or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.
nice, Always good to have another option for everyone. I'm going to pin your comment
Work Play Drive I noticed the 2016 scat packs have a oil cooler....do your know if we have to drain that like the hellcat?
But is it api certified?
I read somewhere that Valvoline full synth also meets that specc now.
Provide some Proof to back up your comment please
All excellent tips! Thank you for sharing. (pinned)

Bad tip. Don’t fill the filter.
...and again please educate us on why?

dealership changed my oil and I had half more on dip stick so.... plastic pipe and syringe ,next oil change doing myself. Great Vid!
Ouch, glad to help 💪
Thank you internet dad!
It's a great way to spend time with each other.
absolutely, whenever they show interest, I stop and let them help, every little bit helps.
Excellent tutorial. Thanks for the great info. Just picked up a 2015 Scatpack. Earned yourself a new subscriber. 👍🏻
Awesome glad it helped
I listing to the part with your father...sitting on the bumper of an impala from 66.
Very similar to me, working as an 9 year old boy with my Dad in 1980, putting a Typ 4 Porsche-Engine in his 1979 Beetle-Convertible.
Erverywhere the same :-)
Glad I got to experience this with him to start my love for cars.
great video as always lots of great tips. pre-fill your filter to get oil pressure quicker. looks like you love your Scat !!
THank you, I do love this car and I agree that would have been a good tip to include, hey there is always the text overlay :)
Just did my oil change this video helped out a lot thanks man! 👍🏽
Thank you, Glad to help :)
I agree with Raymond - prefill the filter or you'll have up to 7 seconds of no oil pressure. well done video.
Thanks, I've never filled the filter on any of my cars, but I do agree it's something that should be done and can only help.

Thank you 🙏
Thank you for this! Looking to do my first oil change on my 18 Charger 392 soon.
Nice glad to help.
Awesome you're passing the knowledge to you little girl! I'm doing the same.
Trying to make sure my kids have that hands on experience my dad shared with me. It wasn’t fun all the time but it definitely helped develop the skills I have today.
Love the blacked out shaker
Thank you, I'm working on the video for the install of that whole kit it should be out in a few weeks.
Thank you for this video. I'm going for a R/T in 2 more years and this helped out. I hope it'll be the same way by then.
I hope so too but, I've been reading they will be switching to a high output 6 in the years to come.
Cervinis does make stand alone Ram Air kits Unfortunately they currently don't make anything for the 2015+
Dude great video, what was the link for the tool that clipped in for jacking?
The ZL1 Premium Magpad amzn.to/2NjwJCc I have 2 and after 4 years and many times per month lifting the car for mods and detailing my pinch welds looked like NEW. a little costly but totally worth it.

Awesome video! Thank you. I was wondering what you call the little red metal protectors that your jack pushes on? I need to pick a cpl up for my 392 shaker that I have recently purchased.
Thank you, after 4 years countless lifts that little mag pad helped keep my pinch welds perfect.
Great video! love how detailed oriented you are! just subscribed to your channel.

Hey man thanks for vid. I remember when u bought it lolo. Stay safe bro
Can you show us how to jack the rear? and get it on stands? been having a hell of a time figuring that out'

This is my new owners manual, awesome man, and thanks for the link to this video😀🖒
anytime brother!
is there a playlist or a series of maintenance you have or can do for your audience brother? i wish i learned these life skills growing up but my pops just didn't do his own maintenance lol so here i am

Also do you think 3 ton stands will be strong enough to hold up, that's only 1.5 ton per side on a 4k + lbs car [shrug]?
amzn.to/2NnbcFo
amzn.to/2GYjOkG
The entire car is only 2 tons so those stand would be more than enough.
awsome video "MOPAR OR NO CAR", i just subscribe to your you tube channel ,cant wait to c more videos , i got a 2016 dodge challenger 392 scatpack shaker R/T and im gonna be up for the 1st oil change very soon and i agree i dont trust just any body with my car either.Thumbs up !
Your shaker is a beauty, I wanted a shaker so bad I converted my Scat Pack in the Spring this year.
Awesome video. I noticed you didn't have one, but do you recommend a oil catch can?
Yes I recommend getting one, just be careful it makes you want more engine bling once you step back and look at how nice it looks. In this video I don't have one, but I did wind up getting one from Billet Technology. you will see how it works at 5 minutes 20 seconds in this video ruclips.net/video/w9m-0QjSLLg/видео.html In my hellcat I have 2 catch cans, in my hellcat, instagram.com/p/By_CmPyF5w7/
Thank you. Super helpful
Thank you 🙏
Nice! didn't know about the triangle for the jack stand
Jack stand or jack if you have one of those low profile monsters.
I do but always used the magnetic guards like you have.
Great Video, Thanks

Oderus Urungus awesome welcome to the Fam!
Thanks dude. Picked up my 392 SRT Challenger last night and holy crap am I excited!!
Congrats remember no full throttle no matter how tempting they tend to get squirrely on the stock tires :)
Oderus Urungus you still get to enjoy the exhaust sounds 😉
Thank you!🙏
I did not know about jack tool (was previously curious what that spot under car is far), but car is wedged too tight to use jack on it, so i fabricated wood pre-step with the plastic rhino ramps so the lower black valance does not get broke/damaged. just changed oil today on 2012 6.4L SRT8 header orange viper 6-spd. with 3150 miles. third oil change. kept under cover rarely driven. got 1970 6-pk 440 and 1972 rallye 340 challengers had since 1981, use to have 4 speed 340 duster/twister, but had to sell years back, too bad those go for lots money now. i'm an old fart as you probably guess by now having those rides. i say new generation are cute and lovely and quite but the old school ones have "balls" of pure raw mechanical power and less agile, not prone to breakage like new temper mental ones.
No for some reason I can’t find those on line. Don’t misunderstand I’m not saying they are unsafe just one of my preferences.
@@WorkPlayDrive that's 5,000 lbs. No Challenger is that heavy.
Great video. Any tips for putting these cars on 4 jack stands?
Thanks a lot for the great video!
Anytime I can help :) Thanks for watching !!
great job and good video 👍
Thank you
How do you like your Cirvini Shaker?
Another great video - THANKS!
Thank you!
I love my Challenger! But this is only a shaker correct?
Great job!
Thank you
i just bought a 392 hemi scat pack shaker as well.
Work Play Drive oh ok, well the car looks dope! And the videos have been a huge help 👍🏼
Thanks brother!
Thanks for the video, correct me if I'm wrong, this is not the 3 ton Pittsburg jack you're using in the vid, this seems like the 1.5 ton small HF one, right? If so that's nice it can lift your heavy car that high! Gob bless the kids btw
Yes this video was using my old old old jack that failed on me. Thankfully I always use jack stands 🙏
Excellent Video! Just subbed! Thanks!
Im confused are you suppose to put oil in the oil filter because i see other videos people put
Oil but i didnt see him put oil in the filter in this video
You can put oil in the filter, to speed up the delivery, it cuts out the time it takes for the engine to fill the filter.
I rarely put oil in the filter and in some cars like my Jeep the filter is inverted so it’s not even possible.
I have the service manual on CD. Torque spec is 20 pounds for the drain plug.
Pound foot. I bought the CD from techautority. $150. It's not copy protected.
It's 35 pounds. Just enough.
@@WorkPlayDrive What was the tool # or name you used to put under jack on car to lift her?
What is that grill cover over your intake filter?
My scat pack had the Cervinis Shaker kit installed, the grill is part of the kit which comes with a full airbox replacement as well.
@@WorkPlayDrive ah cool. I just got a 2021 challenger scat pack but it came with the shaker package from the factory
Can you explain how to and when to check the oil again?
I check mine every other time I stop for gas, the dipstick will read a little low because the oil has not had a chance to descend, but as long as I'm in the safe zone I know I'm fine. The best time to check is on a level surface 15 minutes after driving so the oil has time to settle.
when do you check during or after or before fueling up with gas?
I check once I'm done getting the pump started. Overall the best time to check is when the engine has been to operating temperature then shut down for 5 minutes. This gives the oil time to drain back into the pan.
When I am checking it's only been off for about 1 minute. I account for the oil level to be a little low, but ALWAYS within the hashed safe zone.
Does the temperature of the oil have an impact on the oil level? Should oil be checked when the car is cold? Also, how do you feel about ramps instead of a jack and can you recommend any? Thank you!
earned a sub.+like! Thank you!
Thank you 🙏
@@WorkPlayDrive you're welcome Sir 🙂
So how would the dealer lift it, with the lift pads on the diamond mark you pointed it out?
And if you were to use a floor jack with out a jack stand would you put the floor jack on the diamond?
Question, so you used the whole 7 quarts ?
I usually put in 6 and check the dipstick. If it’s in the safe range I run the engine, check for leaks, then lower the car.
After sitting level for a few minutes I check the dipstick and add what’s needed from the 7th qt.
Thanks man, Appreciate it. That’s a relief, since I saw your message a couple hours after I completed my oil change and surprisingly 6 quarts put me at “safe” level if not a little over it & yes that was after I let the car idle. Although I will say I haven’t double checked the oil dipstick after actually running the car , which I will top off whatever is needed.
Got to drop in a oil catch can ! Works like they say it does .
Catch can is on the list, jut trying to figure out what Brand and if I want to do it in color. I want to use a dark orange anodize for all my engine parts, just having an issue with the anodize quality of a few parts I"m testing.
i used Billet technology web page, but takes 2 months at least to get your order.
+olds98123 I'm working with billet on some parts now ordered them in December 😣
Didnt drain the oil cooler?
There is no oil cooler on the scat pack. If you need info on that see my Hellcat oil change video. I show it around 17 minutes and 50 seconds.
ruclips.net/video/D_s9O4GTJSQ/видео.html
Will it hurt anything to lift the whole side of the car with one jack point?
Do you think it’s possible to use ramps on 19 Charger scat?
Yes, there are 2 good options
The 2 piece Race Ramps RR-56-2 amzn.to/2Nw6ipZ allow for the perfect slope to avoid hitting the chin spoiler and provide an 8" lift. 8" is a good height for changing the oil and the 2 piece design makes it easy for storage.
If you want more room go for the Race Ramps RR-XT-2 which give you a 10" lift amzn.to/2N2W9Sz
what kind of shaker is that again?
Sorry I missed this. Not sure about the puck. I’d wait till you have all the right tools. It would suck if something failed
Work Play Drive all good. I ended up jacking up the car on the rear jack point only. It was able to go high enough to remove front wheels as well. 🤟🏼
Hi, where did you find the pinch weld protectors for the floor jack? thanks.
You can grab them from Amazon, they are awesome. Jack Pad - amzn.to/2pILhf6
What is the manufacturer name of the jack guard you are using?
That was an old one my favorite Jack is the Orange Daytona Low Profile from Harbor Freight. fits under the car without having to drive up on blocks and it's a fast lift. If you don't have a Harbor Freight near you you can also order the Yellow one from Amazon bit.ly/WPDToolStore
I use an awl and a hammer and I poke a hole in the filter. You then unscrew the filter when it's empty.
Thanks!
nope, I'm still loving the car. If you get the Scat Pack you may want to consider the 6 piston brakes available as an option on the 2017
Work Play Drive I shall do that, thank you
Is there a link to the oil filter
Sorry to keep you waiting on an answer here you go, this is for the scat pack and the hellcat amzn.to/2ICPUmf
"All I learned was how to hold a flashlight and get yelled at" lol
I definitely grew up in that area!! 😂😂 for some reason my flashlight skills sucked because I was always getting yelled at
Did you use a low profile jack?
it's not a low profile jack but the plate is lower than most, with my jackpad fitted sometimes the hack doesn't fit depending on where I am in the driveway. I drive up on a set of 2 x 4's under 1 tire when this happens
And do I have to use that zl1 ad on thing? Would I be fine without it?
Good video man
Thank you!

thanks for the video.
What is the part number on the rp oil filter?
Hello,
What torque wrench are you using? So many options and sizes I want to make sure I purchase the right one. Thanks!
Here is a link to the Torque Wrench I am using. (10-150'.-Lb./13.6-203.5 Nm) - amzn.to/2mCp4Cn
Work Play Drive What sockets are you using for a complete oil change on a 392 challenger? I want to change my own oil but I want to make sure I have all the tools I need for a smooth job. Thank you!
Work Play Drive I’m sorry for all the question but did you replace the oil plug gasket? If so which one did you use?
Sorry if you said it I skipped through video, What year is your car? Some of the shakers need to come off to remove the oil cap?
My Scat pack is a 2015 and the shaker is NOT a Mopar shaker it's a Cervini's Shaker kit. I do not need to remove the shaker to change the oil.
did you paint your calipers?
Yes Sir Check out this video, ruclips.net/video/EBn_2OddU8E/видео.html (love the name)
Are you sure where you put those jack stands is the actual frame? Ive always been told that modern unibody cars have no exposed frame at all, and your only real places of support are the pinchwelds and subframe.
Yes the area with the triangles is the correct area for both jacking, Lift and jack stands.
Awesome video!!
