Good review, good to see Jackson progressing with newer models, somebody needs to hand them a memo, though, so they can possibly put out a mix master 2.0
I tried the Large a couple weeks ago - absolutely loved it. I put the seat one back from center, and it tracked and edged really well. One of the more fun boats I've tried for nailing all the moves at the park.
I found a jackson flow kayak on the freeway today, saw it and went back a few hours later and it was still there. it has barely any damage for flying out of a truck going 80mph.
Loved the review. I'm a little heavy for it at 210 but it's the best review yet on the Flow. I like a creek boat that can do it all. Maybe if I get back into paddling and drop some weight I will consider it. Unless you know of one suited better for my weight. I fluctuate between 205-215 at 6'.
Well, I had my eye on the Jackson Flow for a while. After a ‘challenging’ day in my Antix 2 on a PFD of the Lower Yough, as an intermediate WW paddler, decided I’d prefer to stay in the boat a little more and bought the Flow. And I need more practice on my ‘rock roll’.
That looks like an option for my new boat. I'd love to see you review some older boats as many of us choose used boats. Would love to see a review of the Waka Tuna 2, Wavesport Recon and Zen 2 (seems the Zen 3 was not popular). Also I remember you saying once that the Wavesport Fuse was a terrible boat (I own one). You should also review your bottom 5 worst boats!
Yes, I would but those are very difficult to find and when I do they are trashed out no outfitting cracked ect think about it what dealers has demos in those so then it's like your down to find someone that owns one and willing to just let me use it and I don't get that many days on the river here lately and I sure don't want to spend them in crap kayaks for yesteryear I always try to get in a kayak that is like iconic if I can but there's only a few out there.
I’m loving my Level Six Ace I bought after your review. I definitely prefer it over my IR Klingon bungee, especially on Jackson boats with their shallow cockpit rims. So, I was considering selling my Alpha 75 to buy the Flow (or maybe a Code). Would you say ‘definitely, upgrade to the Flow’ or ‘the Alpha is perfectly good, don’t bother.’ I also have an Antix 2 and like the agility vs the Alpha.
Thank Wade! Love your reviews. Compare to the Waka Stoke and zet 5 for a smedium ?~145lbs Have med Antix and small scorch, cause i dont like bath tubs. I paddle class3+ not true creeking yet, or big water. small gnar & code felt toobbig, and not sporty. Thanks
Thanks for the test, the specs and the concept don t look that different from the Spade Black Jack; saw you demoed that as well - any thoughts about that?
"Best Jackson Creekboat" that's pretty good praise. With the easy to adjust outfitting and the all around performance you described Jackson ought to sell a lot of these. Seems like an ideal boat for a kayak school or WW rental business.
I talked to Jackson (now that I’m a new dealer) and the Flow will be replacing the Zen series. You should revisit the Gnar. What didn’t you like about that boat? Asking for a friend that has one on its way 😉
The gnar to me feels like it was balanced weird like way to much bow and the stern was narrowed off which made it ride like bow up bobbing all over the place with not so good tracking and aesthetically the bow was very uncomfortable to look at while paddling 😂

Wade, how are you feeling the difference where the stability is between the Flow and the Gnar? I recently paddled my Gnar then jumped not a buddy's Ripper - oh man! The Gnar feels like a large SUV, where as the Ripper 1 feels like a Rally Car!
Hey Wade awesome video! I have been watching all of your reviews since I found you on RUclips and love them all! So I have been out of the whitewater game for almost 9 years and about to get back in the river. I have been debating on the flow because it seems to do all the things I want to do well. I am looking at really working rivers and being able to make easy stuff hard until I am comfortable again to get on bigger stuff. Not looking to play boat but run rivers and maybe do a little creeking in the cooler months I have had recommend the Flow, Scorch and the Code. What would you think would be a better move? My first boat was a Pyranah Ammo then moved into a LL Remix 79 and a superfun when I got out of boating. Thank you sir!

Looks like a fun boat. Really hoping they don't go to big on the large. The Gnar and Antix are 2 boats that come to mind where the large size is just too big. Big jump from the medium to large as well. Seems a lot of manufacturers forget about that 190-230lbs range of people. Dagger did the same thing to the large Rewind. Just too big and narrows your market to just those folks over 250lbs. Let's keep that large Flow under 8'8 length, no more than 27.25 inches wide and 85 gallons max!! Otherwise, you might as well paddle a medium Gnar. Jackson should get the J. Ortiz seal of approval on the large size prototype before they go to market!! 😉
I disagree. They don’t do a medium and xl, there are some of us that need the boats to have some leg room and the antix large doesn’t have much room. It shows they are sold out of the aqua bound paddles. How much is one of the bent shaft ones? That flow looks like a great all around creeker/river runner

I tell you it’s where the volume is and what they did on the gnar was put most in the front so a heavy paddler would be making it left up out the water a lot the flow is very balanced end to end so distribute the weight better
the hull width/float on the Flow is really made to perform best at a Medium weight range. The Gnar Small's hull starts acting in ways that it wasn't intended to once you're over the weight range--creates a longer waterline, harder to turn, more edgy feel, less stability, harder to boof, etc... It's impossible to get a sense of how "big" a boat is just by comparative numbers. make sense?
@@stephenwright8779 how much over the wt range would u say the small gnar acts differently. I'm 5 6 162. Currently paddle a,zen 65 which only 25 inches wide and way less volume. @@daviddeleskyhhjhhjjhjh9391 you should really try them. I'd recommend the Medium Flow over the small Gnar at your weight. FWIW I'm 150-155 and paddle only JK's medium boats--including the Gnarvana. Those numbers don't really tell you much--it only tells you the width measurement at the widest single point--not the width of the hull or how much of the boat is actually that wide. A boat with a maximum width of 26" could be less stable than a boat with 25" max if the rail-to-rail width is less or if the 25" wide one actually stays wide for much more length of the boat--make sense? It's been a long time since I've been in a Zen 65, but I'd guess that the Small Gnar might have less initial stability than a Z65, but much more secondary.
@@stephenwright8779 Thank you for such a,quick reply! I may demo and go w the flow! I think it may be the better choice stability wise. I'm a,class 2/3 boater that values stability over play. Yr explanation makes sense. So I guess I'll save a little more money instead of trying to save 2 hundred or so and be happier in the long run.
Thanks wade! Any recs for a similar white water park in Oklahoma? I’m a retired raft guide in CO looking to re-learn my roll in a controlled environment, and it’s getting chilly out here. Thanks & your vids are great 🤙
Hey Wade! I'm still learning how to kayak and I'm curious when you first get onto the boat and feel out the stability... how do you get that feel on whether it's front vs back ?
I have probably paddled 100s of different kayaks at this point more then anyone ever so you just get a feel for different things with boats really in the back you will feel it drop back and with the front you will feel that volume up there floating

I like the colors of it....😏
They have some the best color combinations out there

What whitewater park is this?
Charlotte Whitewater Center in North Carolina USA
That makes sense, thanks man and good video!

Any bow rocker to that thing? It looks flat
Yes but it’s got like a kick rocketed tail so you don’t have to add massive bow rocker when you do that just lean back slightly and it lifts
Where's my credit card!
