When I purchased my Bach flugelhorn about 20 years ago, for some reason many of my contemporaries looked down on my purchase claiming there were better fuels available. I’ve found the horn to be top notch, and have been very satisfied with my horn.
@@michaeltroster9059 I tried 12 flugelhorns (Yamaha, Kanstul, Calichio) at Dillon Music before choosing this one. Just before I made the purchase I asked for another Bach 183 to try. It was terrible. Mine was good from the get go but after a Reeves valve alignment and some other mods it played great. I played it for 16 years before transitioning to an old Couesnon for a year and eventually to Van Laar, which I play to this day.
I just pulled out my Bach flugel for the first time in a year yesterday. They really have a beautiful sound and it is mostly to do with the bore size, don't go higher than around 0.413 when you want a dark and round sound.
