- And we continue this Voron Trident build by building a solid and square LDO frame! In this Trident video, I discuss some of the tools you should have and some tips on how I built my Voron Trident LDO frame.

My kit has not arrived yet. Following his to learn a bit before hand, thanks for making these videos.
One TIP for anyone building this way, for H extrusion, you place a button head screw on the extrusion where H needs to be and get the rest of the frame done exactly like he did. But when the time comes to put the H extrusion you will have the screen in the lower extrusion already, will save you from redoing some of the joint again, position the screw over the hole in the bottom extrusion and push from the bottom with the hex key to get you H extrusion installed.
What ^ They said!
Well done! Looking forward to following the build.
I know you're a hawk eye! Let me know if you see anything I should add as we move forward!
Great tips that would have came in handy when I built my Voron. Using straight edge of another extrusion to check sides. Doing this, didn't seem like you would have had to adjust 90 degrees any either.
Building a printer is somewhat like playing chess. You have to think before you move!
Hai, I understand 3dprinter Shaolin. :) @@BuildItBasement
Thanks!
Super Thank You!
great video today, I would recommend using a set of machinist squares over the standard squares, they can be purchased in sets and have far better options for clamping and keeping the frames squared while tightening screws. Also I am so envious as I want to build a trident, but alas I work for the Post office, I have no money lol
When I was a kid USPS workers where some of the best paid folks out there. My friends dad was a postal delivery person. He spent 15years in the military, retired and went to work for the Postal Service. Great guy. Hey - I appreciate what you do and the things you have to deal with! Hope you get to build a Trident at some point!
Brilliant video, nice with build videos that's not live and 5 hours long with bunch of meaningless chat going on! Subscribed!
Glad you found me! I have a decent back log of videos and I'm working on making them better as I go. These aren't short - but they are real-time less the repetitive things. No fluff, I do livestreams once in a while for people who like those - but I won't build a printer in a livestream. Too much to pay attention to!
Great video. Getting this right has such a huge impact on the rest of the build.
Glad that point wasn't missed!
Want a trident so bad looking forward to this series!
I know a guy....
Let’s go!
Where! J/K Thanks!
Nice! I just received my Trident kit from formbot 2 weeks ago, but without pointed parts. My V0 got some work to do :p
The V0 will be able to print them all - just fewer on a plate! V0 is a nice printer, I should use mine more.
@@BuildItBasement thanks for your video. I'm looking forward to the next one. It will be a good build series. I've watched some streams but this "short" format is very nice 🙂👍, I'm glad that I subscribed to your channel some months ago.
Thanks for that. 30min to about and hour is a good length for build videos, get one thing done, properly and fully! Longer videos are fun for community and chatting - but building is a different animal for me. @@dazuio7175
I read somewhere last week that adding washers to the screws stops the frame from rotating. Of course I didn't do it for mine.
I believe I saw that too, and it would make some sense. I wonder if it makes for as rigid of a frame?
This was called out by SteveBuilds and also Modbot (referring to SteveBuilds). It is supposed to provide additional smooth surfaces for the screw to slide on when tightening. In theory a steel washer may *increase* the rigidity, since relatively soft alu frame is easy to deform when the contact surface is just a screw head.
I may have missed that mentioned, but is that the "space gray" LDO frame? And which printed parts color combination are you going with?
It is a Space Gray. The printed parts are a tad of a surprise since I have a final "look" I'll be showing off once we get a few episodes in. Think dark-but flashy!
Did you go with 300 cube or BOM Z height?
The frame kit is from LDO - so it will be 300. IMHO most people will build with the 300 cube and purchase BOM parts as sectional kits (frame, hardware, steppers...)
I rarely get anywhere close to max Z height on my Prusa so I am leaning more towards not doing the extra z height. I am also not going with a kit so will be following your build videos. I have also decided to use the pins mod and Beefy Idlers.@@BuildItBasement
Pins are cheap and easy - if for nothing else, they just fit together better than using M5 screws.
Do you have all the electronics? I have a spare raspberry pi 4 I could donate.
Hey seriously?- Thank you! But, yes I have everything I need. I actually just FINALLY received a couple Pi 5's that I need to start testing! That's awesome that you'd be will to send one my way! Hope you enjoy the build and again, thanks!
@@BuildItBasement Nice! I picked up a Pi 5 also. Seems a bit overkill for a klipper install?
One thought... 4K cameras...@@toddzino58
@@BuildItBasement true. Didn't think of that.
