Imagine how harmful it is for a young gay Christian to be told that the reason they are gay is that they don’t love God enough, and as long as they are still gay, they are still not loving God enough, and God has “abandoned” them. How incredibly traumatizing.

There was some comfort in the "such were some of you" line by Paul, but with the Romans 1 "abandoned" passage and the Hebrews 6 forever "fallen away" verse, there were certainly times in my God-loving teenage years that I thought (due to my unrelenting attractions) it was possible I had failed and already undergone final judgment. 🙃 Fuuuuun.
You cannot conquer your sin in your own power but you can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me. Just obey God the temptation will still be there.renew your mind with his word. I never understood those passages as talking about individuals but about the world in general. There's sin in the world because it has turned away from God. Even Paul in Romans says he's a sinner, so I doubt his message is that if you have those desires it means you're not faithful.
“Heterosexuals” will be surprised when they find out how many homosexuals are in the world, a lot of which keep it a secret because don’t want to be bullied, prosecuted and even killed in some countries. Jesus is love and he died for EVERYONE of us, not just for som people.

I live in a Christian household and go to a Christian school and go to church every Sunday. My whole life the community I am around has told me that it is a sin to be gay and the kids at my school go out of their way to harass anyone they think might be gay. I haven’t come out to my family because of this and idk what they are going to say about it. These things that people say are extremely harmful and can mess with someone pretty bad. I already don’t feel safe at my school but if any of the kids found out I was gay I would be even more unsafe. It’s dangerous, harmful, and not even true. Please be kind to everyone ❤
The community is right. It is a sin. There’s verses in the Bible clarifying it too. Deuteronomy 22:5 and Leviticus 18:22 for example. But listen to this… We hate the sin but love the sinner. It is not out of hate my friend, but out of love that we help guide and share that with you. And yes it’s true that we are sin and fall short and we all need saving. But if your faith in God is true, there will be at least some kind of resistance in being gay or transgender or any kind. If there’s not, and you’re totally happy and see nothing wrong with being gay, then you are not a true believer of God.

He fights against this urge, because he knows it’s a sin(He came to this conclusion on his own through his own study). He previously lived a gay lifestyle, but knows it was wrong. It’s not how God created him. My mom owned a beauty salon, and she had many gays working for her. She loved them, but saw the results of their lifestyles. Several of them had aids, all of them were alcoholics and suffered with depression. There were numerous times they came into work with black eyes, and various bruises on their bodies. When asked, they told my mom their boyfriends had been beating them. I personally worked with several homosexuals. One told me he had received a “pink slipper”. I had no idea what that was, and they informed me it was when your rectum became inverted from intercourse. Truly sad. God loves you. He can see what the gay lifestyle leads to, and He doesn’t want that for you. Pain and misery is what it leads to from what I’ve seen. God has his commands because He wants the best for us. He doesn’t want to see you in pain or hurt.

Although he has the power to make everyone like robots and subject to his will he doesn't. We have a will, a desire, lust; which most times goes against the will of God. After a person has known the will of God, he is faced with a difficult situation cause his own desire is against that. The problem however with knowing the will of God and sticking with one's own will is that God will ultimately give one up to his own lust. It's like leaning over a chasm and God being the only person holding us on and if we keep on resisting him, he finally leaves us to fall. That initial rebellion is our lust, the ultimate rebellion which we fall into, God allows it. Before that, he held us by his mere grace.
Your videos don't usually make me emotional, but dang...this one! The way people "defend" the bible and then go about breaking the most important commandments (loving God and our fellow humans) is hurting so many people. I know so many LGBTQ+ people who love God and want to continue practicing their religion but so many of them are pushed out and rejected. It's heartbreaking. 💔
The first and most important commandment is love God. Second is love neighbor. Every Christian has sin, and every Christian struggles with sin. You transition your identity from male or female to in Christ. Once you loose your identity in whatever it is, you are no longer a slave to that identity. You are free to transition to Christ. As for Romans 1, I consider it similar to Deut 28 where people were cautioned that if they failed to follow the Law of God they would be cursed with any number of ailments and poverty. During Jesus' time, the people naturally assumed that poverty and sickness meant the person was sinful. "Was this man born blind because of his own sin, or his parent's?" Jesus refuted the whole concept that we can judge a person's standing with the Lord based upon random curses that might happen to SOME people. If a man's blindness isn't evidence that God hates him, then homosexuality cannot be used as evidence either.
I accept your thesis. God loves the whole world. Persons. But he still calls "homosexuality", a state, an abomination and "same sex" and act an abomination as well. A Mother loves her child but that is also the reason she hates him dirty or covered in shit or sick. God's love for us is the reason he hates us being homosexuals or practicing homosexuality. As a gay man-I honestly do not feel like God uses labels-I grew up in a Baptist community and church. Lived with a pastor and his family for 4 years as a teenager. I hid how I was feeling in fear of becoming homeless. I remember how terribly gay men and women were treated by the congregation to the point a grandmother disowned her eldest granddaughter and put her out on the street and the church shunned her. Now as a gay man I struggle with my faith and sexuality. I would love to have a committed relationship with both God and a potential partner. I feel like Humans make a relationship with God hard and God I feel always said to me come as you are.

Discovering my best friend was gay was the first battering ram to Romans 1-literally nothing about Paul's detailed description rang true. The second battering ram was me coming to terms with my own homosexuality as someone who profoundly and devotedly loved God & the Bible, and wanted originally to be a pastor-I knew that literally nothing it said about my "origins" were true. No, being gay is about sex, not the individual. I can tell you there is nothing good about being gay, and that is absolutely the truth. I recently realized i am bi, and i dont know what to do, i am a christian and i want to be christian, but i feel i am bettaying God constantly, but at the same time i know God made me this way and loves me. I dont think i can come out (especially not to my hyperreligious stepfather) until I move out, because i dont want to damage my relationship with my family. We as believers must take the Bible as the infallible word of God. We must seek to base our beliefs off of the Bible and not base the Bible off our beliefs. There will always be a way to shape the Bible to fit a narrative that isn’t Godly, as it has been done to justify slavery and many other atrocities. We are born of sin and we are taught by Jesus to deny ourselves (Matthew 16:24-26). Good God loving Christian’s should see your struggle and not offer you any hate, but seek to support you as you are. However everything that we do from how we treat ourselves, to how we treat others, and key to your message how we treat our relationships should be solely to honor God. Is it guilt or is it God calling you to repentance? I cannot answer for you, but know that every Christian should love you and that God loves you no matter wherever you are in your spiritual walk or no matter how many times you fall. Seek to honor God above all else. Seek to learn what it means to love (agape) as a Christian. As a gay Christian, God showed me the truth. And the truth is that God became a human as Jesus to sacrificially die for our sin, in doing so death is conquered in Christ. Obviously God doesn't want us to continuously live in sin but Jesus saved the world while we were still sinning. The world altogether is fallen, nobody is worthy of eternal life, its by grace alone that anyone is saved. God's unfailing mercy is the reason why anyone comes to the truth so that nobody can boast. You touched on the most important point, but didn't spend any time there. Being a homosexual, as in sexual orientation, is not a sin. There is no biblical basis for thinking it would be. Homosexual acts are a sin. But we are all sinners. Don't hate your neighbor just because he sins differently than you. I view homosexuality as a struggle. A challenge God gives to some people. Their ability to resist sin and deny their own desires can help them grow spiritually.
I seriously can't figure out why Christians on the internet are crusading against gay people. I'm gay and I go to church every Sunday prayer meeting every Tuesday and bible study most Thursdays. My church isn't made of fools, they know what's going on, and I've never been condemned by anybody in real life. Excellent video! Listening to this woman makes me so sad. I’m a gay woman who comes from a family of people like this woman. I’ve been with the same person for 20 years, and we just celebrated our 18th year of marriage. Every June, for pride month, my family (I have little to do with them) gets on board with their church’s anti-gay campaign and they find a way to blast me with their “truth” using verses like these, firmly stating their “deep knowledge” of the Bible. They claim they know the truth that hell is real and they just have so much love in their hearts and they don’t want to see people suffer burning hell for all eternity. Every July I go into a deep, dark depression, not because I believe them or feel any shame about who I am, I know the truth. But I have to say, whoever coined the phrase “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” was incorrect. Words of hate, and the venom spewed when they are said, hurt a great deal, especially from people who are supposed to love you. And I’m quite sure that’s the point of what they do, to inflict pain, as well as to feel superior over someone else. Yeah, I think Dan is being a bit too optimistic here. Lev bans the act of gay sex, and similarly bronze age Mesopotamian law codes & omen literature also punish gay acts...but this is homophobic by definition, as these societies weren't recognizing the category. The context of these prohibitions are that they’re unnatural mixes, and these unnatural actions could defile the land so to protect from national impurity the ruler must enforce heteronormativity. Unnatural mixing by citizens brings bad omens to a town and could lead to its destruction. These societies would be homophobic in their own times as well, since there were traditional small-scale societies around the world which would've included 3rd+ genders. So people with these inclinations were born in history, and in a small-scale society could became a respected healer, or married and lived with their spouse (some traditional societies allowed this and others didn't). But in Mesopotamia/Canaan they were told their inclination was a crime, and doubly that such inclinations didn't change their gender-role.

I come here to tell you that all my life I have been surrounded with people who are from the LGBT community. They have been the most kind and most lovable people and I'm still around them. The way people are expressing their pride today is disgusting and the reason why theres such a negative impact for it today. I love that I was able to find this because for the longest time even with me being a Christian I’ve never really known how to explain this. It’s a thing where I’ve never felt comfortable fully being dedicated to what the Bible says as a means to follow God because with the way I heard it from people in my family amongst many others, it always seemed to me like the Bible was saying from what was being told to me that if your allies with the LGBTQ community or part of that community that you’re sinning and that you’ll go to hell unless you repent and stop being a part of that community or being an ally of that community. I had and still have a huge issue with that because me personally my best friend and someone who’s like family to me, along with people actually in my family, and friends from my past who have all been in the community with all three of those examples are people that I would never tell that to nor do I think it’s right that they should stop openly being who they are because they’re being told that God would not accept them nor Would God welcome them because of them being gay, lesbian, or anywhere in the community. From what I’m hearing here that’s not true, but someone do correct me if I’m wrong. Definitely need to do my own research on this, and that’s another reason why I started searching and I’m glad that I found this video.

But words are like farts in the wind. Where do you see all this love in the Bible? Was it when Jesus said he did not come to bring peace but a sword and to turn brother against brother, father against son, etc? Was it in the flood narrative? How about all that slavery Jesus didn't seem the least bit concerned with? Mysoginy? If a woman is too scared to call out while being sexually assaulted in a city she should be put to death because she clearly wanted it, right? The Bible is an inanimate object. it does not condemn. People choose to use the words in the Bible rightly or wrongly to condemn people. In this case you are condeming people who are doing nothing to hurt anyone. In fact it's your condemnation that does the real harm. Imagine how harmful it is for a young gay Christian to be told that the reason they are gay is that they don’t love God enough, and as long as they are still gay, they are still not loving God enough, and God has “abandoned” them. How incredibly traumatizing.

There was some comfort in the "such were some of you" line by Paul, but with the Romans 1 "abandoned" passage and the Hebrews 6 forever "fallen away" verse, there were certainly times in my God-loving teenage years that I thought (due to my unrelenting attractions) it was possible I had failed and already undergone final judgment. 🙃 Fuuuuun.

I never understood those passages as talking about individuals but about the world in general. There's sin in the world because it has turned away from God. Even Paul in Romans says he's a sinner, so I doubt his message is that if you have those desires it means you're not faithful.

I live in a Christian household and go to a Christian school and go to church every Sunday. My whole life the community I am around has told me that it is a sin to be gay and the kids at my school go out of their way to harass anyone they think might be gay. I haven’t come out to my family because of this and idk what they are going to say about it. These things that people say are extremely harmful and can mess with someone pretty bad. I already don’t feel safe at my school but if any of the kids found out I was gay I would be even more unsafe. It’s dangerous, harmful, and not even true. Please be kind to everyone ❤
The community is right. It is a sin. There’s verses in the Bible clarifying it too. Deuteronomy 22:5 and Leviticus 18:22 for example.

I have a brother in Christ who struggles with sexual attraction to the same sex. He fights against this urge, because he knows it’s a sin(He came to this conclusion on his own through his own study). He previously lived a gay lifestyle, but knows it was wrong. It’s not how God created him.
My mom owned a beauty salon, and she had many gays working for her. She loved them, but saw the results of their lifestyles. Several of them had aids, all of them were alcoholics and suffered with depression. There were numerous times they came into work with black eyes, and various bruises on their bodies. When asked, they told my mom their boyfriends had been beating them.

As a gay man-I honestly do not feel like God uses labels-I grew up in a Baptist community and church. Lived with a pastor and his family for 4 years as a teenager. I recently realized i am bi, and i dont know what to do, i am a christian and i want to be christian, but i feel i am bettaying God constantly, but at the same time i know God made me this way and loves me. I dont think i can come out (especially not to my hyperreligious stepfather) until I move out, because i dont want to damage my relationship with my family. I thank you for puting this video out because when people ask me if being gay is wrong i dont know how to argue against homophobia, by putting the bible into historical context though, this is extremely reassuring and helpful.
You are being misguided please look into what the Bible says, we are born in sin which is why we need to be born again and purified through Jesus in prayer for repetance.
First and foremost I want you to understand that I am coming at this from a place of full love and you receive no condemnation from me whatsoever, we all have our burdens to deal with. We as believers must take the Bible as the infallible word of God. We must seek to base our beliefs off of the Bible and not base the Bible off our beliefs. There will always be a way to shape the Bible to fit a narrative that isn’t Godly, as it has been done to justify slavery and many other atrocities. We are born of sin and we are taught by Jesus to deny ourselves (Matthew 16:24-26). Good God loving Christian’s should see your struggle and not offer you any hate, but seek to support you as you are. However everything that we do from how we treat ourselves, to how we treat others, and key to your message how we treat our relationships should be solely to honor God. Is it guilt or is it God calling you to repentance? I cannot answer for you, but know that every Christian should love you and that God loves you no matter wherever you are in your spiritual walk or no matter how many times you fall. Seek to honor God above all else. Seek to learn what it means to love (agape) as a Christian. Pray and let the lord lead you, even if it means abandoning parts of yourself, as they only hold us from our inheritance. God bless you.

As a gay Christian, God showed me the truth. And the truth is that God became a human as Jesus to sacrificially die for our sin, in doing so death is conquered in Christ. Obviously God doesn't want us to continuously live in sin but Jesus saved the world while we were still sinning. All my life I've been under spiritual attack, even as a child I didn't want to live anymore because the world told me that if you're gay you burn in hell. So this sent me to the Lord God Himself to find out if God condemns all gay people. In truth if you surrender to God's will for you life whether you're gay/trans, if you're a prostitue or murderer, etc, if you surrender to God, God will reveal Himself to you. God will encompass you with the physical presence of His glory and grace so that you know without a doubt Who you're dealing with.

About maybe 2 years in to the relationship I became and Christian and reading the Bible and I have periods of times where I doubt whether me being gay is a sin because of what it says in scriptures. Excellent video! Listening to this woman makes me so sad. I’m a gay woman who comes from a family of people like this woman. I’ve been with the same person for 20 years, and we just celebrated our 18th year of marriage. Every June, for pride month, my family (I have little to do with them) gets on board with their church’s anti-gay campaign and they find a way to blast me with their “truth” using verses like these, firmly stating their “deep knowledge” of the Bible. They claim they know the truth that hell is real and they just have so much love in their hearts and they don’t want to see people suffer burning hell for all eternity. Every July I go into a deep, dark depression, not because I believe them or feel any shame about who I am, I know the truth. But I have to say, whoever coined the phrase “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” was incorrect. Words of hate, and the venom spewed when they are said, hurt a great deal, especially from people who are supposed to love you. And I’m quite sure that’s the point of what they do, to inflict pain, as well as to feel superior over someone else. Sadly, so many will listen to this woman and people like her and will feel validated in their hate and become even stronger. We all read and interpret our religious texts through who we are in our hearts. Thank you for posting this video and others like them. Yeah, I think Dan is being a bit too optimistic here. Lev bans the act of gay sex, and similarly bronze age Mesopotamian law codes & omen literature also punish gay acts...but this is homophobic by definition, as these societies weren't recognizing the category. The context of these prohibitions are that they’re unnatural mixes, and these unnatural actions could defile the land so to protect from national impurity the ruler must enforce heteronormativity. Unnatural mixing by citizens brings bad omens to a town and could lead to its destruction.
These societies would be homophobic in their own times as well, since there were traditional small-scale societies around the world which would've included 3rd+ genders. So people with these inclinations were born in history, and in a small-scale society could became a respected healer, or married and lived with their spouse (some traditional societies allowed this and others didn't). But in Mesopotamia/Canaan they were told their inclination was a crime, and doubly that such inclinations didn't change their gender-role.
So taking Levitical law as an example. Women having homosexual sex with each other is ok?
How about Leviticus 20:18 ( you know, same passage, a few verses later…) they explicitly proscribes a husband having intercourse with his wife while she is menstruating.

I come here to tell you that all my life I have been surrounded with people who are from the LGBT community. They have been the most kind and most lovable people and I'm still around them.

I love that I was able to find this because for the longest time even with me being a Christian I’ve never really known how to explain this.

If a woman is too scared to call out while being sexually assaulted in a city she should be put to death because she clearly wanted it, right? Hey I’m not going to argue with the Word. The last time I checked God isn’t the author of confusion the commands on our sexual sins are pretty direct. We are not to lean on our own understanding friend. You can fight and justify all you want with what the Bible blatantly commands us not to do but it doesn’t take away the fact that our fleshly desires and our feelings don’t override Gods law.

The word in Greek “αρσενοκοίτες” or Arsenokoitēs is a compound word. “arsen” means man in Greek and “koites” means bed in Greek. So, it literally translates to manbedders or men who bed other men.
Why did God make me gay?
Most people make the statement that God is a hypocrite for making them gay and saying homosexuality is wrong. There are two responses to that statement. Did God make us this way, or did we choose to live in sin?
