The lore of Cyber Akuma comes from the comics with Apocalypse. Just like how Apocalypse took Angel from the comics and converted him to Archangel, he converted Akuma to Cyber Akuma.
At first I assumed this would be a Majin Vegeta situation where he despite the increased power he isn’t fallen under Apocalypse’s thumb. The win quotes of Cy-Akuma say otherwise and somehow the idea of the perpetually unaligned Akuma falling under someone’s sway is terrifying.

I love how armored Spider-man has showed up in like five or six, maybe more video games over the course of like 30 years but in the actual comics it showed up for like one page in one issue. The armor gets immediately broken.
Armored Spider-Man is from the finale episode of the 90's Spider-Man Animated series. He's from a different dimension where Uncle Ben didn't die and Parker made his identity public.

19:15 - I believe what happened is after Magento striped the Adamantium from Wolverine and Prof X thought he killed him, the Prof flipped out and mind wiped Magneto to press the reset button on him in order make him good again.
However, when he did it the darkest parts of Magneto's psyche slipped into the professor and merged and festered in the darkness of his subconscious and eventually manifested itself as Onslaught.

Random bit of trivia: The Shadow characters in the MvC series are a riff on the iconic Kamen Rider franchise. Shadow Charlie's backstory is basically identical to the original Kamen Rider, Takeshi Hongo: An evil organization kidnaps a man and turns him into a cyborg supersoldier, but he escapes before they can brainwash him into obedience and uses his newfound powers to fight against them. Meanwhile, "Shadow Jin" from Shadow Lady's MvC ending is a riff on Kamen Rider V3's Shiro Kazami, with Jin getting mortally wounded by the villains and the two existing Shadows being forced to turn him into a cyborg like themselves to save his life.
Now that I think of it, Shadow Lady's drill arm could be a ref to Riderman, and her electric move to KR Stronger.
I demand every fighting game have a mandatory Kamen Rider homage character. If there can be a mandatory Bruce Lee clone, there can be a Kamen Rider clone.
And Kamen Rider's Author made Takeshi Hongo's backstory eerily similar to one of his previous works' central premise, Cyborg 009.
An evil organization kidnaps 9 humans and makes them cyborgs, and they decide to rebel and go to war against the evil organization to free the world.

Funny thing about it is Protoman, Bass and even Duo from Megaman 8 all had their chance at being playable in the Arcade Megaman 2 the Power Battle when you think about it technically speaking. Then Roll gets her chance in the big crossover MVC1.
And not to mention its a vocal theme

I worked at an arcade in 97. Had this racing game that looked like Stunt Race FX from the SNES with the Mode 7 graphics and the 3d sprites. Well it also had flashing effects and children would have seizures all the time. So yea it's def a thing that happened a lot until the insurance companies got involved.
Max, literally nobody knows this but the design inspiration comes from another game. Cyber Akuma also known as Z-Gouki was a secret mech character from Cyberbots which was released on the sega saturn 4 months prior (March 28, 1997) to marvel super heroes vs street fighter.

@dealt everyone including the internet thinks the street fighter version came first. The problem is that cyber akuma refers to a street fighter character where as the cyberbot version refers to something completely different. Max admittedly doesn't mention where they drew the inspiration from

Btw, I'm 25 and in Portugal I didn't get to play arcades or fighting games in my childhood. But thanks to this dood I've gotten into fighting games since 2015, which was a hard year for me. Started with USF4 and then UMVC3 on PS4. I'm just a casual but I love fighting games and I love how Capcom designs their characters and fighting games mechanics. Looking forward to get into TVC too. It's Mahvel baby !!!

The fact that Onslaught is able to summon fighters to fight against the player makes me think that they reused that in some way through Galactus when he summons heralds to fight in the arcade mode.
The only fighting game to be 100% balanced was Street Fighter 1, since you could only play Ryu vs Ken.
I've actually heard people put dark Sakura on a much higher tier than regular in MVC2 mainly because her teleport has 0 recovery and you can do some wild stuff with that
Was coming into comment this, Dark Sak is a much better character than regular Sakura. 0 frame teleport, better Supers, better specials and higher damage, if you're picking Sakura you're stupid if you don't use Dark Sak

Secret characters of this magnitude seem to be part of that era of gaming, as I highly doubt they’d fly or even be put into modern fighting games.
Like say if we were to get New MvC or XMvSF2, I don’t think we’d see something so broken like back then.

Secret characters in general can't really be used effectively anymore since the internet will have exactly how to get them before the game even releases. It's a shame, but it's reality.

Depends if you count SF6's secret Akuma taunt upgrade as a secret character or not. It's a fun way to try and do that at least.

Cyber Akuma also appears in Marvel VS Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3, where he is a DLC costume for Akuma.

If they do Marvel 4, I'd like a combination of the groove system and some mechanics in prior MvC's/CvS.
Like CvS2 you could choose whether to have 1, 2 or 3 characters to use: 1 character would give you more health (like CvS2), access to cancelling specials into specials and a parry or counter move to help against teams that use multiple characters. 2 characters would give your teams slightly less health than a single character and you'd have access to MvCI's/PR:BftG/2XKO active tag system. Then 3 characters would be like UMvC3's with ability to call in assists and do DHC/THC or wall bounce combos.
That way there's a way to play for everyone, as not every player enjoys 2v2 or 3v3. Would love to see that compared to an overly complicated traditional groove system. Simplified from CVS but expanded

Even though Norimaro isn’t in the MvC collection fans will find a way to mod him in.
Selecting special partners in MvC1 uses binary codes. Each special partners are numbered from 1 to 20 based on their placement on the select screen. Shadow and Sentinel are 21 and 22 respectively.
To select a partner, you have to hold down the start button + whatever button that corresponds to the number of your special partner.
LP - 1 point
MP - 2 points
HP - 4 points
LK - 8 points
MK - 16 points
HK - 32 points
So if you want to select Secret Soldier, who is the first character in the 2nd line, he is technically a #5 slot assist, so you hold start and press LP (1 point) and HP (4 points) since 4+1=5.

Minute 26:53: There is missing information there. The palette swap of Morrigan with Lilith´s colour scheme became canon in a series of mangas Capcom released a few years ago. In that manga it is revealed that when Morrigan and Lillith fuse (DBZ style) into one being that is the appearence the fusion takes, as Morrigan is the dominant one. It even has an oficial model kit.

As I understand it Onslaught ls like a part of Xavier's mind that's fucking pissed off and wants to go apeshit at all the bad things humans do, and somehow it takes the form of a giant evil Magneto. Obviously it's more complicated than that, and the story had a lot of changes behind the scenes but I think that's it. Xavier's mad inside, he becomes a giant psychic monster, kills some people, sends other people to The Rob Liefeld Dimension.

I don't know how, but as a young child, I was able to consistently find Roll on the character select in the (ABSURDLY loud) PS1 port. Her and Mega Man were always my favorite characters. I don't remember playing anyone else as strongly, but Venom and Gambit probably made strong impressions.

3D polygons just don't hold a candle to these beautiful sprites and Q sound soundtracks. An era where everything CAPCOM did sounded like Megaman X and it was amazing! Theme of Gambit is soooo good!🥰

One thing I always thought was cool was how both Arthur and Thor were strikers in MvC1 but when they became playable in MvC3 they had the moves they'd used as Strikers.
Onslaught first manifestated himself to Jean Grey. His first real goal was to turn X-Men to his side, by showing them how the world was really full of hypcrisy and duplicity. Starting with Jean, Onslaught pulled her into his psychic realm while she was in the middle of conversation in a shopping center, he reasurred her that although she didn't know him they had much to discuss, Jean wasn't really convinced but decided to play along in order to learn more about the entity, Onslaught started by showing her how none of the people in the mall were actually concerned for her safety, even if she had just randomly dissapeared, he even fired a fake blast at the building to release his frustrations, he then took Jean to the anti-mutant presidential campaign of Graydon Creed, showing him how his main advisor didn't really have any ideology regarding mutants, mocking the fact that the X-Men's "Dream" would never reach people like him. Jean countered saying that he wasn't really surprising him by showing her any of this and defended that despite there being people who would never change, Proffesor X's beliefs still were just

They’ve always given an excuse of the F4 not being fighters because of the inability to implement all of them, but I think they can work around that if they keep at it.
Like say if they make The Thing the primary fighter, but they make him similar to Captain Commando where Reed, Sue, and Johnny are used in specials and hypers.
Probably the same logic in not giving more tanks their fair share: Hulk, Juggernaut, Thanos, Tron, etc.

Cyber Akuma's arm looks like Kyoukagata or Reinforced Rocket Punch from Mazinger Z (he even fires off his arm like that.) While his wings look just like Great Mazinger and his shoulder looks like the Zaku 2 from Mobile suit Gundam. His Face kind of looks like Kridanik from Macross but It could be a reference to something else.
With the possibility of a new Mahvel game... possible, and how capcoms fighting game division is now (with how much love and care is put into SF6, it seems like a 180 from SF5)... what if the new MvC goes the Smash Ultimate route?

They should make a balanced version of each game in the collection. Let there be both options so people can play in the original or remixed version kind of like sf2 turbo hd remix.
I would argue that mvc1 is the most balanced.
In Marvel infinite, there's characters that can't do anything against certain fly characters.
At least in Marvel 1. Even though Wolverine and Strider are top tier, it's not like you can't fight against them with low tier characters. You can still make your low-tier character look good in Marvel 1.
Also Assist were "fair" in mvc1. I would say that msh versus Street Fighter is probably the most balanced since it actually uses your partner as the assist and it's a whole animation to use them.
Sure Red Venom is just cancer but overall that game as a whole was the most balanced
But in Marvel infinite a character with no options against a fly character literally can't do anything.
Onslaught is when professor X darkness is merge with magneto darkest aspects
Saying X-Men Vs. Street Fighter is the most balanced game in the series because of corner infinites is like saying 3rd Strike is the most balanced Street Fighter game because of Parry.

Jubilee is /supposed/ to suck. She was a learner who couldn't do much and wasn't a vampire back then. I understand this won't console anyone who wants good Jubilee in a videogame.

I'm new to FGC, so this is probably a dumb question, but how do you have a Fighting Tournament when there are broken, unbalanced characters (and infinite combos)? Why would anyone play anything else, but those characters, (and maybe a direct counter to them?)
Most tournaments just ban them
A lot of the characters here weren't even meant to be "balanced" anyways like "boss" characters some r console exclusive, u would never see them anyways

It's weird thinking about it now, but yeah, back in the 90's Marvel straight up went bankrupt, so Capcom not getting a huge budget for the games also makes sense.
It’s so easy to forget the dire Marvel 90s situation, when you had stuff like the X-Men comics, the Capcom VS games, X-Men TAS, and Spidey TAS. So many positive memories are associated with those that many would not even be aware of stuff like the bankruptcy, speculator boom, and the Clone Saga.
If you don't have a release date I don't care what you say
