People who have never played: 3rd Strike is perfectly balanced! Me, who's mained Chun-Li and Twelve: 3rd Strike is BS! The only saving grace about playing as Twelve is that the vast majority of opponents don't know the matchups. And despite all the memes/jokes, Twelve DOES have combos. But they start as aerials and go have inverted priority. They go Heavy -> Medium, Heavy -> Light, Medium -> Medium, or Medium -> Light. Seriously, fire up Training Mode and try it. They're also easier to perform on cornered opponents. Neutral Medium Kick has some great stun damage/easy confirm in SA1. SA1 functions as a counterpick against characters with projectile supers. Inputting a back dash after an aerial block attack lets Twelve back dash anywhere between halfway or completely across the screen, depending on the strength of the attack. As for combos: That back/forward throw that everyone jokes is Twelve's max damage attack is 14 (with 11 stun). However, that's nothing but an old meme. Here's what Training Mode says: Aerial HK + Standing MK = 21 (23 stun). Aerial HK + Crouching MK = 20 (15 stun). Aerial HK + Standing/Crouching LP = 17 (15 stun). Aerial HK + Standing/Crouching LK = 18 (15 stun). Aerial HP + Standing MK = 18 (25 stun). Aerial HP + Crouching MK = 17 (17 stun). Aerial HP + Standing/Crouching LP = 14 (17 stun). Aerial HP + Standing/Crouching LK = 15 (17 stun). Aerial MK + Standing MK = 15 (21 stun). Aerial MP + Crouching MK = 14 (13 stun). Aerial MP + Standing/Crouching LP = 12 (13 stun). Aerial MP + Standing/Crouching LK = 13 (13 stun). Aerial MK + Standing/Crouching LP = 11 (11 stun). Aerial MK + Standing/Crouching LK = 12 (11 stun). There's also Aerial HP + L AXE = 14 (19 stun). Aerial HK + L AXE = 17 (17 stun). Aerial MP + L AXE = 12 (15 stun). Aerial MK + L AXE = 11 (13 stun). L AXE combos into SA1. However, there are easier ways. The damage changes slightly because the hitboxes on the spikes are inconsistent and it depends on how close the character sprites are, but the numbers that come up most consistently are: Aerial HP + SA1 = 42 (27 stun). Aerial HK + SA1 = 45 (25 stun). Aerial MP + SA1 = 37 (14 stun). Aerial MK + SA1 = 37 (14 stun.) Hope this helps you figure out how Twelve works and gets you (and others!) to give it a chance. Have fun! 10:58 Yes, the way to parry out of it is to down parry the first hit of Aegis Reflector, and then block Urien's regular attack; the pushback will cause your character to move out of Aegis range. It's fun watching Urien players panic when they realize their trusty unblockable won't work.
As for Twelve's ground moves, there are only a couple of things worth mentioning aside from the L AXE into SA1 combos. First is Neutral MK. Like I mentioned in the first post, it's essential for pressure tactics due to how easy it is to combo into, its relatively fast recovery time, as well as how much stun it does. 8 damage (11 stun) on Ryu might not seem like a lot, but it adds up very quickly; it only needs to connect 7 times to stun him. The hitbox makes the stats inconsistent, but the best I could get on a cornered Ryu with Standing Neutral MK + SA1 = 45 damage (24 stun) with all 9 hits. That's not bad at all. Then there's EX NDL. It can be used as anti-air, even though it's probably safer/easier just to crouch walk out of the way. Since it tracks, it can also hit/juggle opponents who try doing cross-ups. However, EX NDL has one other use: a corner juggle. If a standing opponent doesn't block it, they'll knocked into the air and vulnerable to a follow-up attack. This can be: Standing/Crouching LP = 10 damage (7 stun), Aerial LP/LK = 10 damage (11 stun)/11 damage (9 stun), Standing/Back/Crouching MP = 14 damage (14 stun)/15 damage (14 stun)/12 damage (11 stun), Standing/Back MK = 14 damage (14 stun)/15 damage (14 stun) Standing/Crouching HP = 17 damage (18 stun)/11 damage (9 stun), Standing/Crouching HK = 16 damage (15 stun)/16 damage (7 stun), L NDL = 14 damage (7 stun), L/M/H Standing AXE = 14 damage (11 stun)/15 damage (11 stun)/17 damage (11 stun), Standing/Aerial EX AXE = 18 damage (11 stun)/17 damage (11 stun), and SA1 = 23 damage (13 stun). Again, the damage is slightly more or less depending on the hitbox. I never use this juggle, but it is technically an option.
Anyone else catch that Aegis reflector at 10:28 ....he crouched short kick while Sean was blocking high got no punish....🤨..I didn't see a super flash movement flick of standing to crouch either lol

However, EX NDL has one other use: a corner juggle. If a standing opponent doesn't block it, they'll knocked into the air and vulnerable to a follow-up attack. This can be:
Standing/Crouching LP = 10 damage (7 stun), Aerial LP/LK = 10 damage (11 stun)/11 damage (9 stun), Standing/Back/Crouching MP = 14 damage (14 stun)/15 damage (14 stun)/12 damage (11 stun), Standing/Back MK = 14 damage (14 stun)/15 damage (14 stun)
Standing/Crouching HP = 17 damage (18 stun)/11 damage (9 stun), Standing/Crouching HK = 16 damage (15 stun)/16 damage (7 stun), L NDL = 14 damage (7 stun), L/M/H Standing AXE = 14 damage (11 stun)/15 damage (11 stun)/17 damage (11 stun), Standing/Aerial EX AXE = 18 damage (11 stun)/17 damage (11 stun), and SA1 = 23 damage (13 stun).
As daffy duck would say.... "those are just quirks"
This was really nice and fun to watch. Thanks to Max, and the people who made the Third Strike video, featured in Max's vid.👍😄
Justice for Remy is SF6!!!! 😂
*MvC 2&3 chuckle nervously* 😅
The best games are kusoge with heart. MvC as a franchise is broken kusoge, and I adore that about it.
3s is a game that even with the broken stuff, yun and chun and parry, has survived the pass of time and people are still playing it at the highest levels.
i like the idea of replacing skill issue with player 2 problem
Single Player: Skill Issue
Multiplayer: Player 2 Problem
I didn't even know the name of Yun's Genei, I just refer to it as "Yun has WAAAHEEEEE" before he obliterates the poor sap on the receiving end
Guilewinquot, desk and chaosvisoin must've lost there shit when they saw the news
Is the last one spelled right? Link please??

The entire MVC series, MK9, etc. broken games are the best. What fighting game is considered the best in a series and it's super balanced?
Divekick?
GAROU MOTW.
@@Frontera117 Mark of the Wolves top 4 is actually broken. That game is not balanced 😂. You also have totally garbage characters like Rock.
Street fighter 1, its making it to EVO next year, calling it😤
@@gh0rochi363 in the SWC there Rock players. GAROU all Characters, Even Freeman have win posibilities.
In SF3 The most Characters Are Trash. In GAROU MOTW You are pointing One char Even youre Wrong.
19:59 Chung li: Im the strongest person around, Im basically roalty. Yun: Hold my drink for me will ya?
23:31 Yun: Your strong but not as strong as me. Yang: Wait a couple of years then youll see.
SFIV rolls around, Yang gets his ass planted in the dirt while his brother is shoe-in for top 2... *again*
@@Jfrost9101 I mean... even if Yun was better, Yang was still top 5 in ssfiv ae
Gill: Kneel before your master!
@@shayanmanteghi5662 Yun and Chung li: Try us!
That thumbnail makes it look like Chun Li's hand is broken.
The version of Third Strike in the PS4 Anniversary Edition is good. But it does not have Shin Akuma as a selectable hidden character.
Aw man, this is my personal favorite street fighter 😭 because its the first time i got to play with the dragon twins, Yun and yang! They are the coolest characters in street fighter imo, AKUMA TOO!
It sounds like 3rd strike is pretty much exactly the melee of street fighter
I love these "x is broken" fighting game videos. The UMVC3 one (which is the first one i know of) was amazing as well
Guile win quote. Probably went home to be a family man.
Yes, forward press parry is busted
I think you should check out the 8-bit big band cover of “take you for a ride”. It’s awesome and I think you would love it.
This game has the best version of the characters from this game. Dudley’s voice and Alex’s voice are so iconic to me. It’s not the same in the later games
23:51 Yang can create his own twin as 2 Yangs and he still can't beat his real twin Yun.
EVO 2024 will be Yun vs Yun and Yun vs Yun, just to see which Yun is the best Yun of all Yuns.
Guile Win Quote and Theory Fighter videos was my favourite ones to watch if I want to relax.
Love how many videos were inspired by Heeew's original "Melee is broken". It's nice for once to see some quality things move from the Smash community back to the FGC.
So sad he was busy answering that patch question. Makoto grab instantly cutting to the victory screen had me rolling.
God do I love third strike we are still finding things about it and this is the really only fighting game I’ve felt good doing things in. I love yun’s speed but Dudley and Urien seem so fun just challenging characters to use. You try something and it kinda just works is something I miss seeing also the parry system is just so much fun I wish we had more of it but that kinda is what makes 3rd strike special too.
I remember when the streets was hating on street fighter 3. There was too many street fighters.People were hating on alpha too.I don't know why I like alpha. Everybody loves broken ish
This is an interesting lesson that latest rev isn't always perfectly balanced. I do wonder what caused such a shift in balance as I get the impression that 2nd impact was better in balance.
But 3S had the fortune of having a magical moment. Also I think some meta things have evolved in the fightcade ecosystem
Coming here after there were 6 unique characters in evo top 6
I watched that before, I love those types of videos.
YES! GuileWinQuote getting the recognition he deserves!
im definitely checking out city of wolves, never played one before but the new one looks mint
What would happen if someone patched 2nd impact Ibuki or Sean into the game, rather than their nerfed versions? Would they be competitive?
probably
Ibuki as she is isn't even that bad, unlike Sean, but yeah, she would be WAY better.
Max watches 3rd strike videos like it was his high school prom or a wedding
Those good old days hit hard
GuileWinGOAT
He is honestly such a great and wholesome creator that just embodies the spirit of playing anything that says "Fighting game" on the box, with your friends.
As a Melee player I love watching third strike because it’s similarly optimized because of its age
Those games as well as Marvel 2, yeah
I just hopped back online on the street fighter 30th anniversary collection last night.
For denjin doing diagonals from side to opposite side will give you faster charge
I didn't expect a Captain Tsubasa reference in a SF video.
SF5 was supposed correspond to 3s, as USF4 coresponded with SF2. But in SF5, they decimated air normal variety, which is tough to get over. It bled in to SF6 😢
Does anyone know if Max has seen the Umvc3 is broken video?
15:09 Ah yes, port priority.
Yun is playing alpha 3 v-ism and we hate him for it lmao
it would be hilarious if Max watches ShingoBeats' Bronze Age Akuma Tech videos lol XD
To parry out of aegis set up is down parry, back parry into forward parry if I remember correctly.
Do his Super Turbo video next!!
This video is very impressive to have some stuff that even MAX didn’t know about 3RD STRIKE!
To me the best fighting game parry is Maximum impacts parry. It what I would call a true parry. The opponent is always open for a counter attack
19:20 didn't know you can do universal overhead into hyoku-sen. is the universal overhead cancelable for other characters too?
That was a great video and long live street fighter👏👏👏
The fighting game i want to see make a come back is Art of Fighting
i never knew this game existed till recently
I would've liked Alpha 3 max's roster for 3rd strike, but a man can only dream...
3rd strike: Just Do Stuff
that should be the title.
i got the Ken and Makoto neutral throw bug the only time I got to play a 3s cabinet a few years ago when I was in Philly
Id be down to see Makoto come back.
Shout out to **Ch0sen** and his Yun. I can personally say that I have seen him GRIND on playing Yun for quite a while, and he’s come a LONG way!
