- Here's the scanning experience and review for CR Scan Raptor and Otter in marker mode.
Please note that I map the point cloud at lower resolution (0.2mm) for manipulation in Blender.
Here's the link to my markers collection.

Excellent video. Good seeing someone who actually knows what they are doing.
The latest version of the scan software now allows for separation of merged scans should you wish to back track and re-process. This is a really big deal for me and my clients! Thank you for the excellent content you are providing :)
I came for information about the Creality Raptor and found some awesome 3D makers to download. 👍🥳
Enjoy!
I love they scaners help me alot in mi desings
Awesome tutorial. Went to link and saw towers. Was hoping that I could buy a tower or two. My 3D printer is packed in storage while we move so I am unable to get to it. But, seeing your towers made me realize that if one were to take some simple wooden dowel and make cuts to approximate your cuts then add targets, they might work pretty well and can easily get this to work. However, without your help this would have taken us quite a while to figure out. We just got the Raptor and a notebook to run it with. Want to try to scan a spark jet ski to help build trailer. Then a motorcycle to make foot board. Next go crazy using it to help make stuff....
You need to make a bunch of these towers and sell them. I couldn't find a single image using a search of anyone having these towers. Hope you get rich selling these.
Really interesting comparison of the two scanners.
Loving your content so far.
Please keep up the great work.
I’m wondering if I could use a wireless monitor for 3d scanning.
That way I could use my workstation for 3d scanning.

Man, you are awesome!
brilliant!!!! the Raptor it is!
This is awesome! Can you go into more detail regarding the last 2 minutes when you imported the ply file into blender and created that shape for the base? I have never used blender before. I've been trying to go the CAD software route with the same end-goal in mind. Converting the point cloud into a solid and then exporting it as an editable file that can be used in Shapr3D is harder than it should be, and I haven't figured out how to do it yet. Your method looks much quicker in the video but I'm not sure how many steps were left out to get there.
I'll try to make step by step VDO.
Thank you so much! Really looking forward to it 🙌🏼
Thank you for your good content and effort. I have Creality Otter and I am new to scanning. I want to ask 2 questions; First one, your marker towers are white, is on purpose or any color is ok? Second one; I see you use 30 and 60 degree marker bases together, which degree is better for which pupose?
Great video with lot of useful information! Do you have any experience in comparison of Einscan HX vs Raptor? This would be interesting.
Does the color of the Marker holder (the printed ones) matter somehow, cause you use Black and white?
I prefer black. It makes reflective dots stand out. But white will work just fine.
Great tips.. I was having challenges with laser. @4:59 you start a second scan correct? As far as I'm aware we can't continue a scan?
Молодцом!
what is the difference between the markers you put on the turning table and the markers you put on the object? do they have a different purpose?
When putting markers directly over the object, the object can be filipped over to scan the other side. Using external markers's for smaller objects, scanner must be able to capture object partially and the external markers.
isn't the solution the the smaller scanning area of the otter to switch to medium scan mode for a wider field of view?
No, small and medium mode have the same FOV
Thank you 😘
You're welcome 😊
Thank for the video, Where did you get the marker tower?
Download link is in the video description.
the tower ideal looks interesting, should they be printed white like you have them or black like the other markers... or does it matter?
It doesn't matter with Raptor, but it does with Otter. Otter in small/medium marker mode doesn't like high contrast object because the object brightness tied to marker brightness.
@@Payo-TensileCreator yeah i have the otter and i am still figuring things out to get good scans.
I have printed out the smaller pyramid shaped markers for the turntable, i printed them in black with white dots.
With the towers would it be best to do the same or would white be a better choice for the otter?
are the turntable and markers part of the scanner purchase?
It comes with some markers, 6mm and 3mm, I bought the turn table separately, cost around 3 USD. It's for air brush painter.
Still very impresive results without calc spray.
In the end, what is better to take?)) Small objects are not of interest, mostly medium ones
For object 25cm - 50cm I still prefer Raptor. Otter uses the same dept camera in small and medium mode. The detection area is smaller than Raptor.
@@Payo-TensileCreator According to some of your videos, I think you praise Raptor, according to others Otter, I want to trust your experience))) According to your answer, 25-50 raptor is a class, what is needed, but I saw how you scanned the earphone, it is very small and Raptor with Your experience worked perfectly!
Where can I Buy the reflective Markers for Cheap? ive just got my Raptor and after some of your 30 and 60 degree markers im nearly out of Dots. Ives seen some sites that sells 5000 Dots for nearly 200$ but thats way more than I want to spend for them
I bought it from here, exactly the same as the one that come with the scanner. 16 USD for 1000

@@Payo-TensileCreator Thanks for your Reply, that is an amazing Price. unfortunately not available in GER but thank you for the tip :)
Where to get the scan tower and 30/45 degree pyramids? Seem to be very useful.
Here we go. (I said it wrong; it's 60 deg not 45.)
30 degree skfb.ly/oUNEO
60 degree skfb.ly/oUNFx
Could you share stl for marker bars?
Here we go. skfb.ly/oUKzC
Do you know if you can export to Blendr with color mapping?
Yes, from CR Scan software, save as OBJ and there will be another MTL file saved together. Put them in the same folder, and when you open the OBJ on Blender, texture/color will show.
Could you use a markers with a 4th dot on the top of the marker?
That way hopefully you could point the scanner directly down on the turn table, and keep tracking.
Might be a good 3d printing project. 🤨
🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼😎🍀☮️
All 3 markers on the pyramid are detected by the scanner on top view.
Did you see the crazy turntable REVOPOINT sell?
It is rated to 200kgs!!!!! 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Mind you it’s nearly $500US
I’d love to own that turntable, for scanning engines, and motor parts.
Oh and people!!😁
I think it's better to control the rotation, speed and direction by hand. Sometimes you have to go backward for retrack.
The revopoint turntable has an app to control its rotation in real time.
You could put a steel plate on top of your turntable, and use magnetic markers. Do the same for the bottoms of your marker towers.
🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼😎🍀☮️
This plastic turntable has terrible bearing. It loses and rattle. If found one with steel frame for 20 USD without the top plate. Probable CNC cut the 1.0mm SST plate so the magnet can stick to it.
