So whats interesting is I had previously emailed Shining3D about the Einstar about the power brick, because I don't have a garage or access to an outlet near my car and I wanted to scan the side of my car for side skirts/etc. I was thinking about buying an FJ cruiser for a daily which has a 115v power outlet (capable of producing 400w) and had asked if I could plug into that to scan. It actually turns out that the power brick is just a switch adapter, which takes 100-240v down to 12v 5A and 60W. So you could actually buy a cigarette lighter power inverter, plug it into the running car you want to scan, and scan that way. Obviously you'd need to still have a laptop but that way it would technically be "mobile". Pretty interesting work around for those who might not have a garage or wants to do mobile scanning.
I like that it's all in one. I really need to consider investing in one. I do so many projects where I spend so much time measuring things when scanning would do the job in minutes.
1500 is still out of my budget, but I bet in a year or two something of this scale will hit the 1k or less budget. I am excited for the future of scanners. I do think 1500 is very good though for what you get here.
Hmm the comparison at the end. Think I'll stay with my einstar and skip the vega. The vega scan looked very blobby where the einstar was just missing some data.
I hope you can use it without an account. Hardware that is useless without a subscription is eventually going to be useless when the servers shut down.
@@DingDongDrift I do RE work for a living using software like polyworks and geomagic with Faro laser line probes, been looking for a hobby grade scanner for years and this does seem like the one to get. Thank you for the vids!

Great video. Definitely shows the differences and why one is a better choice over the other while still not deterring anyone from buying either one.
Now to convince work to buy one so I can use it at home 😂
