My 2nd great-grandparents came to America from Rotenburg in 1887. I have found your recipes amazing, and it's been a while since you posted. I have been making your sauerkraut recipes and german beer cheese for a few years now for my family gatherings, and they are always a hit.

    This goulash looks fantastic!
I agree with you that key to a great goulash is lots of onions. Actually, I like to use the same weight of onions as the meat. Also, I like to use Korean gochujang fermented red pepper sauce, which adds some nice umami flavor.

Thank you so much, I love the tip with the Korean pepper sauce, I need to give that a try.

How wonderful! It's kind of like a German version of boeuf bourguignon, with lots of onions. 😉 NIce! I subscribed to learn more from you. ❤️

This looks delicious, I love goulash. I never heard of barley leaves, I'll have to investigate. Thanks for sharing your recipe. I would make it with potato dumplings for sure. Stay well and safe.

Thank you so much, Erin. I must admit, I misspoke in the video and meant bay leaves. I was working on a bread recipe that has barley malt and I got mixed up. LOL

@@AllTastesGerman Thank you for clearing that up, all I could find was barely grass and I knew it didn't look the same as in the video. No problem, mistakes happen. Stay well and safe.❤

Looks so yum, & quite easy. In ur opinion, would the wine flavor be too strong for younger kids; if so, any suggestions to maintain integrity of dish while adjusting for their palate? We would eat this dish with either mashed or boiled potatoes.

Thank you so much for stopping by. The wine flavor is pretty subtle and the alcohol cooks off completely during the simmering process, but people have different opinions about this. You can use grape or apple juice instead of wine but it will not really maintain integrity of the flavor. But it will still taste yummy, just a bit different.

Barley leaves, sounds like a regional thing. Any alternatives? Would Bay leaves work?

OMG, thank you for pointing that out. I actually misspoke and meant bay leaves. :)

@@AllTastesGerman 😄.... quite different plants. Bay leaves are much easier to obtain. Think you have to update your website too.
