Barney is such a character! Only he could play a melodica with no shirt, sweaty strung out mess, and not give a fuck. This is the best live version I've heard of Hurt. I need this entire concert. So amazing. Thank you for posting
I just love New Order. Never that technically astute *but* they were keenly in touch with this certain magic that just sort of transcended technical ability - which simply cannot be replicated, no matter how technically astute. Fantastic.
Brilliant. If they ever play live again, they could learn a lot from this. No Rock and Roll, no lazy rhythm guitar, no Phil Cuningham, no bullshit to the audience. This is how all gigs should be. Didn't Factory achieve anything?
Why so many ( but not all) in America dont understand the genius of new order. The guts to play songs unrehearsed. The possibility of Happy accidents, you see that today? We love these moments. The emotive power of hurt live here Is undeniable.
BY FAR AND AWAY THE BEST OF THE 80S......100 PERCENT ORIGINAL AND JUST PLAIN REAL AND EXCELLENT MUSIC.....DIGITAL AND ANALOUGE and real instruments.....SICK!!!
This is a brilliant track when I got the temptation 12 inch I couldn't stop playing it I was into joy division but I grew up with new order they are my band I love the Northern edge to there personalities! They didn't take any shite!
When I bought the 12" of Tempation/Hurt it was this track that drew me to purchase it ... later I relaized it was Temptation which was the "A" side. Nonetheless both tracks kick butt - along with Everything's Gone Green this is where New Order broke out of the Joy Division sound and found their own sound.
Really good song, it probably could’ve been an A-side! I like the slight variation in the instrumentation in this live version, it’s a little more raw. Nice use of the melodica too :)
This is one of those songs along with Temptation and Everythings gone Green when New Order goes hard towards the electronics ... I think this is where they become New Order and leave the Joy Division sound to one side.
I couldn't disagree with you more ... the las two releases (2003 and 2005) are a great combination of acoustics and electronics ... several great songs.
Couldn't agree more .....80s gigs was raw, cheap and not the same bloody set list as it seems to have been the past 10-15 years. Every tine they tour i say no not going but after 39years from 1st watching I still go, get up the front and try and keep up. I refuse to clap my hands in the air when they finish with LWTUA...I do still have some morals left....NNNNEEEEWWWWOOORRRRDDDDEEERRRR.

Stephen Morris HUMAN DRUM MACHINE!!!
WE ALL WORSHIP AT THE SHRINE OF STEPHEN MORRIS
I think Steve is drumming for his life fearing that if he fails the machines will take over.
lol
😂
Spot on mate😂😂
Stephen is the best. He is the one constant that always keeps the music moving. He should be the Chairman of the Beat.
Nobody does it better than Morris. Legend.
my favorite drummer ever- steve Morris :)
This old new order stuff is awesome.
OMG!! I was there and it was beyond anything you can imagine. Unforgettable memories!
Hookys bass is just massive here!
as usual...
Everybody, especially Morris on drums and Barney on drugs, was awesome!!
This concert is my first destination should I ever get a time machine.
Ian C would have loved that energy...

Very well put.
100/100 in creativity and emotion.
Always loved this song, but this version really rocks out.
Hi from Manchester, England! 👌👌👌
Brilliant. If they ever play live again, they could learn a lot from this. No Rock and Roll, no lazy rhythm guitar, no Phil Cuningham, no bullshit to the audience. This is how all gigs should be. Didn't Factory achieve anything?

I agree- the energy in this is off the charts! def revitalized my love for this song!
Tune was lucky to see this live...back in the day when they was bad but brilliant.....if you know what i mean....56 gigs later still fav band.
I think I like this video more than anybody else does .
What a performance!
Feel that power.
BY FAR AND AWAY THE BEST OF THE 80S......100 PERCENT ORIGINAL AND JUST PLAIN REAL AND EXCELLENT MUSIC.....DIGITAL AND ANALOUGE and real instruments.....SICK!!!
WHAT A PIECE OF DRUMMER, STEPHEN IS A FUCKING MACHINE...
LOVE THIS GUY!!!
What a 12" ... A side: Temptation ... B side: Hurt
Easily my favourite A side / B side combo, Temptation and Hurt.
Spectacular version of one their least played songs! This song is from those 3-4 hits that took them away from JD and into their own sound!
Man this is so memorable! The "low-life" tour was the very first concert I ever saw!! Damn! Still love them today! Thanks for the video
Mr. Morris!!!!!
Sir Stephen Morris.What a fucking drummer.Excellent footage.Thanks for this
beautiful minds!
So creative it’s hallucinatory.
New order is the worlds best band EVER!!!
I wouldn't go that far.
Yet another example of why they are one of the greatest bands of all time
thanx - great song. great version. just thanx man...
Amazing!
This is a brilliant track when I got the temptation 12 inch I couldn't stop playing it
I was into joy division but I grew up with new order they are my band I love the Northern edge to there personalities! They didn't take any shite!
Excellent. Pure attempt of excorcism. Uplifting, and yet deeply sad at the very same time.
hot damn bernard ;)
Hot stuff coming through!
TREMENDOUS! The whole early 80s raw and post-punky vibe, excellent! The visual and audio together, perfect!
amazing, I love it
i cannot believe i stumbled across this. this is a song i never would have thought to see performed. just awesome!
One of my favorites...wow. Great fuckin video...
So bloody brilliant. Many times NO's punky and live attitude with more bad and good, but here they fucking nail iy.
Excellent thanks for sharing that!!! Some proper music !! from a proper band......
This is so RAW
Looks like it was hot, right Barney?
Peter Hook playing bass guitar is great!!!
YEAH!!! gimme gimme gimme!!

What a great gig, and a fantastic outing of Hurt.
Really good song, it probably could’ve been an A-side! I like the slight variation in the instrumentation in this live version, it’s a little more raw. Nice use of the melodica too :)
As per usual, Barnie, fucks it up, saw 'em loads , Hooky IS New Order !
(No more mistakes. Like the last time. )
Still love it.
I came here solely based on that lyric, which was obviously self-referential and not part of the actual lyrics! But yeah, still gods in my book.
Brilliance in action!
ah thank god, video's no longer distorted.
Is there a complete video of this gig/
that hooky bass though......
MY GOD!!!!
That amount of echo must have got so distracting
Que grande bomba!!! Como é que é possível eu nunca ter ouvido isto como deve ser? Do melhor!!!! 5.000.000 Stars
why does the caption in the video call it "Cramp" ? was that an alternative title? amazing performance, by the way.
bikehorn Cramp was Hurt first name
bernard, you were beautiful, but leave your shirt on this summer 2011
Insane!!!!!!
Cool stuff.
yeah, only as a lurker these days though, to check for news occasionally
STEPHEN MORRIS GOALS
No more mistakes... Like the last one.
I don't know what kind of crazy shit the guy singing was on, but whatever it is I want some.
For once a new order song done pretty much perfectly!
Wow
Awesome! Is there the complete show anywhere?
When gillians synth echoed and barney just looks back slowly i fucking lost it
I've always liked that bit, fits nicely at that point, but I never considered it was unintentional which kinda makes it even betterer !
Show d +
and the house of gillian
B-Side of the original 12" release of Temptation ... I liked both, but this one had a great industrial electronic sound to it!
Dang, Mr Morris!
@aeschhere Stephen Morris... BRILLIANT!
This is one of those songs along with Temptation and Everythings gone Green when New Order goes hard towards the electronics ... I think this is where they become New Order and leave the Joy Division sound to one side.
fucking epic!
Too bad Hook quit. New Order at their prime.
New Order isn’t New Order without Hooky!
Machines were made to keep up with Stephen.
Steve Morris is a fucking machine!

Old video and crappy recording but you can’t hide their brilliance
I couldn't disagree with you more ... the las two releases (2003 and 2005) are a great combination of acoustics and electronics ... several great songs.
this is what New order was known for, no try to put on soulful vocals or trying to dance on stage like a idiot...
Couldn't agree more .....80s gigs was raw, cheap and not the same bloody set list as it seems to have been the past 10-15 years. Every tine they tour i say no not going but after 39years from 1st watching I still go, get up the front and try and keep up.
