One of the MOST classic songs of all for me. I can't ever get enough of it. New Order is by far one the the GREATEST ever. Been a fan since 1984 and to this day listen to them daily. Thanks guys.
Thanks SO MUCH for posting this! Elegia means elegy - it is a funeral durge. It is the most beautiful and masterpiece of modern music I've ever heard. And MORE is my favorite short film of all time. That's why my nick is Elegia More. :)
Thanks SO MUCH for posting this! Elegia means elegy - it is a funeral durge. Truly this is the most moving song in the world; a masterful and poetic work of genius. I also saw them perform it live in 1986 - there are no words. And the film "More" is also meaningful brilliant. That's why my nick has been Elegia More since 1999. Today I'm working on my funeral plans and I think I'm going to be bold and have Elegia played at the service.
This is one of the most genius and greatest song ever!! I just can´t stop loving it!! I´ve listen to it everytime I´m feeling down, and it helps. This is a true onor to Ian Curtis and his life from his old band members in New Order.
gotta be about 10 years ago on sci-fi channel a show called exposure had short films and i saw "More" i was so awe-struck when i saw this masterpiece. It just makes me feel like im drifting away into the darkness to the unknown. very erie feeling but oddly reassuring. totally mind blowing.
This song has the heartbeat of life entwined all through it bringing the youth of love into every pore of ones soul to make you feel alive with our CREATOR !!!
@Goatmon Thank you so much for mentioning Mark Osbourne's film here! I too have learned about this song through his film, years ago. Bought the Low-Life album after that just for this song. I couldn't remember the name of the filmmaker nor the title of the film though, and I have been looking for it for a long time. Haven't seen it since 2003 or something. Thanks man!
Definitely awesome! The song and the tone of the animated short fit together quite well. Somber, solemn, and somewhat disheartening similar to the Moonlight Sonata.
I would have never heard this song, if not for Mark Osbourne's short animated film, More. It's an incredible work, and this song is a big part of what makes it so amazing.
Some of New order's finest work is on this album, this song features on a episode of CSI where Grissom is piecing together evidence from a murder and it just fits beautifully, Outstanding track.
It's hard to listen to for me because of the part when this plays in "Pretty In Pink"...I know that sounds pretty lame but i've loved that film for years and its always made me feel so sad when i hear this. When she's all humiliated and furious and heartbroken...Amazing piece of music.
Мне просто мозг выносит эта композиция, каждый раз, когда я ее слушаю. Ну и мульт (mark osborne - "more"), на который эта музыка была наложена тоже, конечно, заслуживает внимания.
I would say that Power, Corruption and Lies was New Order's best album, but their very early stuff was also brilliant. Their music was revolutionary and way ahead of its time. Try their early stuff, you won't be disappointed :)
in my humble opinion new order is one of the most underrated bands of all time. they shaped my youth, and even my adulthood as far as mood and feeling. when you listen to them you hear so so many layers. they were brilliant. chicago loves you you guys !!! lane tech 86
KLillz, you are right, Joy Division were amazing but i still prefer the early New Order. It's like the beginning of 'Dance Music' for me. A decade ahead of it's time and still easy to groove to today
hey if you guys want to download this as mp3 just google free youtube to mp3 converter this hasnt got any virus..i know it wouldnt come with the hq but its safier than torrents or limewire
You know, I hear this song, and you know that image comes to me? Picture the end of a movie: a couple waltzing, sadly but lovingly, in the midst of nuclear fallout. They look into each-other's eyes as the radioactive ash falls upon them, burning the life out of them, knowing that their world is coming to an end, but also that their love will be eternal. How about you?
I wouldn't say the devil. These sounds are genuine, not buttered up for the mass-market, but ironically it was played at a pivotal moment in the film Pretty in Pink.
I first heard this on an episode of CSI. Doesn't anyone else think that some inspiration of this had to be from Ennio Morricone's work in Once Upon A Time in the West?
Why is this song released as only 4:55 seconds? Thats the version I got from iTunes... I had no idea that there was a longer one. Where can I buy the longer one?
Silly question but can anyone tell me what type of electric guitar and guitar effect New Order use, it sounds slightly detuned or is that the effect? Thank you.

Love this still as much as my 16 year old self did when it was released.
How I yearn for those times.....
I don't know what brought me here, but this track is fucking awesome!

The best album of New Order and one of the 80's best.Great & unforgettable days...
Out of this world.
No lyrics.... just guitars and synths. Moody and magnificent
Aw after hearing this version I wish this version was on album, it completes it. Elegia must be one of the best instrumentals of all time!
How can you not love this?

Yes, a masterpiece brought me to this masterpiece

I would have never heard this song, if not for Mark Osbourne's short animated film, More.
It's an incredible work, and this song is a big part of what makes it so amazing.

This tune is just out there amazing. Especially with a nice bottle of Savignon Blanc too !
Haunting and amazing.

This is a beautiful song.
@TracieWhoDat Agreed... could listen to this all day, puts me in a trance when i close my eyes and turn it up.
Some of New order's finest work is on this album, this song features on a episode of CSI where Grissom is piecing together evidence from a murder and it just fits beautifully, Outstanding track.
You know what would make song even better...if part 1 and part 2 were combined.
My favourite album of all time, peeking.
listened to this wearing sony dJ quality headphones. Absolute bliss !!!!!!!!!!

Movement is fantastic.

brilliant song
this song is fucking amazing!
sounds like tubular bells or ommadawn from Mike Oldfield but it 's good music love New order and Joy divison
For years I thought"Elegia" *was* Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells! It sounds like a darker mashup of Part I at 13:32, 15:06, 16:04...
Gran viniloooooooooooeditado con papel cebolla no digo más high classssssssss
in my humble opinion new order is one of the most underrated bands of all time.

love it
This is incredible! Could you please share this full version with me?
Orbital's equally epic "The Box" is something of a 90's electronica reprise and companioon piece to this.
Epic!
This song is sacred, it put me on a quest for truth and knowledge ...Soon at my holy grail.
I first heard this in an animated short called "get happy"
This song is part of the movie "Pretty In Pink". Beautiful piece...
so sad.......but also so fucking great......
SNAAAAAAAAAAKEEEEEEEEEE!!???
increble
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought there were similarities to Moonlight Sonata.
The pattern of this song is definitely similar.
Try looking up "more". Theres a realy awesome animation with the shorter version of this song on it.
It's an homage to Ian Curtis.
SHOW DE BOLA !
Heard this tune on CSI.
hey if you guys want to download this as mp3 just google free youtube to mp3 converter
this hasnt got any virus..i know it wouldnt come with the hq but its safier than torrents or limewire
If it makes you feel any better, I have the original vinyl, and the song is the short version on it too.
Me too :-)
First for MGSV!
Could also be the music for a spaghetti western. Pure class .

@imbuemyblue Well, "Shell-Shock" is in the soundtrack too but I don't remember if there is another song of them featured in the movie...
I wouldn't say the devil. These sounds are genuine, not buttered up for the mass-market, but ironically it was played at a pivotal moment in the film Pretty in Pink.

More!
Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up ...
Silly question but can anyone tell me what type of electric guitar and guitar effect New Order use, it sounds slightly detuned or is that the effect? Thank you.
beautiful song but I will admit that I much prefer listening to it on the MORE video.
Never noticed it before but it reminds me of Mike Oldfields early stuff
@camiloazuul
Got this version in a 5CD Album called Retro.
@habati65 It's not really the best song to listen to in a car. You need a quiet environment for it to have its impact.
Hallo idol 🔔
@gouryella54
I think you should listen to more music.
:)
But it is good.
you mean more?
I second comperic2003's comment...
