That's it exactly... I've always liked this version without realizing it's because of hook's bass! I love the original but it clearly would have been better with this bass line.
My soundtrack to the early 90s, i had The best of New Order CD and played the hell outta it. Very tasteful and gentle remixes that cared about the source material.
Sorry, didn't realise this remix was already out there. Can't agree on the comments over at the video posting though. To me, this is the outstanding version. More delicate than the original, but still intense and strong. Wonderful bass guitar - and this pic is prettier than the film clip!
can't believe this version has escaped me til now - one of my favourite NO songs, and you're right - it's far better than the original/'94 versions....! gonna be tricky tracking this down..........
September 2020. The last concert I saw, before the virus, was NO in Athens, June 2019. I like thinking that it was my last concert in my life. You see, I'm old. And, by the way, I liked more Closer than Unknown Pleassures, and did't like Movement at all, but I saw NO in PCandL. September 2020, New Order, Still Respect!
Yes, with that name, your most certainly are Greek. You say you're old. We talking 70s, 80s or what? You're not old unless you're 75 ! And a 75 or older guy liking new order will be a cool thing to know about.
@@antonioskoutsoyiannis5319 you're not old. I'm 49. Heck you have to be at least 40 to even know who New Order is. You're still young enough to date beautiful Greek women in their 20s. Be safe, stay covid free.
Eh, I have only now heard this version. Gotta say, I massively prefer the original. It was simple and more powerful for it. Perfection is achieved not when there's nothing left to add, but when there's nothing left to take away.
interestingly, though, bernard sumner apparently confirmed the other version, ie that the song is a fictional account of te failed assassination of his wife. as you point out, the details are blurred, but it is a fictional account, and more of a metaphor for failed marriages. that's not to say the domestic violence interpretation is wrong, this kind of thing is always open ended.
This song has nothing to do with the assassination of JFK. It's about domestic violence - as producer Stephen Hague states in a Sound on Sound interview. Hard to imagine how the song could be about the assassination of JFK which took place in November of 1963, and the lyrics talk about January of 1963.

damn! so this is the unedited version of the 1963 remix! on the US best of from 1994, only the edited remix is featured, so where can I get this version? is it available on cd?
Starlodear, it is on cd for sure. Released in 1995 by London Records and coming in a collectors type cardboard case. Other tracks are "Lets Go", "Spooky" (Nightstripper mix) and "True Faith" (Shep Pettibone remix). Cataogue no 857941.2 (int.) / NUCDP6 (uk)
I truly believe that the best NO songs are: True faith, 1963, Your silent face and Sub-culture. I hope to hear at least three of them live next month. (Royal arena, Copenhagen) 🥹
Was always a big fan of the original version but this remix takes it to a whole new level.
They compliment each other rather than competing.
neworderの中で一番くらい好きな曲です、このverも。
Peter Hooks favourite version, as Arthur Baker put the original bass back in that Barney and Stephen Hague took out.
That's why I came here. Listening to Hooky's audiobook right now

I have absolutely no idea why you'd take the bass out of this, the only reason I can think of would be to spite someone.
The definitive version for me.
one of the best songs written

It's gorgeous!!

The absolutely best version to me 💖
Pure New Order.

Thanks for rescuing this version.
You're welcome.
I've always loved this song and this version is just awesome. 🤍🖤🌹

A wonderful music from Ràdio Molins de Rei, in "Quan Comença la Nit " to 23h pm...loving this song, loving New Order.
New order é New order , tocava muito no baile
What a nice version
brings back my college days

@ChocolateExplosion The "annoying synth stab" to which you refer makes the original better.

1963: Indie rock mix 😂😍
How odd for a arthur baker mix...
Coooo-el
This song reminds me of 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins.

Theres too many ways that you can kill someone like in a love affair where the love has gone ❤️
It is on Disc 2 of Substance, but not this mix of it, that you would have to get separately.
On another note - this isn't the radio version but the "remix" version, adding one minute to the track. :)
I didn't get whom Johnny killed at last? Him or his ex-wife?
1963 is on it but its a different version with an awsome drum beat beginning
I didnt now arthur baker did the remix of this - I think I have it on the true faith 12" , with different coloured and lots of smaller leaves sleeve.
no the only cd this is on is the single
What is the song about?
it's a bisexual metaphor of the JFK assassination
That you can dance to! @@57bmun
Puro DOSIS
Johnny got shot later.
I just don't get the story! Why he's singing for a guy? Is he gay? And who did Johnny killed at last?
Sanddox neither do I?
So many songs better than Blue Monday. Why do critics love Blue Monday So Much.
Because the first 60 seconds of Blue Monday is some of the best seconds of music ever recorded.
Blue Monday is the ultimative sound. But so many songs/ sounds are brilliant.

moins émotions que sur la version 87-94.
2024 still.
