Oh my Goth... I've always had this Peanuts Gang sequence in mind, whenever I go out to the Goth clubs. They're the perfect illustration ― Dancing by themselves and according to their own unique style and flair. Nobody's supposed to care, or judging each other, but just having fun together as a single-minded entity like a blur of black. You know that matching Joy Division's music with these visuals is a freaking brilliant idea..... !!!! My wife thinks I dance like Denis, the one kid to the right of Snoopy, who shifts his body from left to right and drops his head every time ― I don't care about what others think or say. If you keep that same attitude about not caring what others think, then life becomes so much easier and you shouldn't care anyway. I swear the other day, I had walked into a Mexican restaurant and every single person inside was wearing black, so is wearing black rebellious anymore, or is it mainstream..... ??? Oh well, I still wear black better than the 'normies' anyhow.

The sentiments are nice, but we both know there are still certain types that don't get a pass and will still get the "you don't belong here" looks no matter how accepting the cool kids THINK they are.
In the mid 80s i went from listening to Boston and CSN&Y to college radio and then borrowed 3 records from my best friend: Sex Pistols' _Never Mind the Bullocks_ , Flipper's _Generic Flipper_ , and Bad Brains' mind blowing _Rock for Light_ . I was 15. When I was 16 I went and bought _Closer_ based on the cover alone, knowing nothing about Joy Division. Never looked back. I'm 54 now.
yep- 1984 at end of senior year i finally discovered that my taste in music was everything alt/new wave/post-punk/punk/indie/college radio etc. Never looked back, and my kids even are the same today in their early 20s it's so cool
i am older than you but similar situation. No intereest in fleetwood mac rolling stones etc WZbc introduced me to JD. scraped up every penny bought Still. Spoke to me like nothing else ever had. I am old now and have no interest in most of the music I listened to earlier but Joy Division is sacred to me. I use to close my windows when listened to them but gave up on everything else and listened to them exclusively.
It was 1983 when I rebelled against everything, but I did receive the music from two university radio stations that played "alternative" music. A British girl, who must have packed away the best Goth music from England and brought it here, including a This Mortal Coil album and when I heard Elizabeth Fraser and Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins, play "Song of The Siren" ― That was all it took for me. I remember saying to myself, "This is what I've been seeking". I too, as well as yourself, never looked back again.... !!!! Even now, that I'm 53 years old, I still avoid Pop-Culture music. I do still enjoy music from the Underground Subculture and I probably always will.
My buddy Paul did the same thing. He bought closer cause of the cover. I loved New Order including Ceremony and then I was like oh JoyDivision came from New Order then of course the factory thing.
Joy Division were an English rock band formed in Salford in 1976. The group consisted of vocalist Ian Curtis, guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. Sumner and Hook formed the band after attending a Sex Pistols concert. While Joy Division's first recordings were heavily influenced by early punk, they soon developed a sparse sound and style that made them one of the pioneers of the post-punk movement. Curtis suffered from personal problems and health conditions, including a failing marriage, depression, and epilepsy. As the band's popularity grew, Curtis's condition made it increasingly difficult for him to perform; he occasionally experienced seizures on stage. He died by suicide on the eve of the band's first US/Canada tour in May 1980, aged 23.
Color, would change the dark mood and age. That a black and grey give to this cartoon. You can feel the older 1980's about 40 years ago age. With a cartoon that was made from 1950's too 2000's. The cartoon even has hints of dark subjects like the boy doing the zombie walk. The boy with the mohawk. In other words Alexander leave it be. Michelangelo did a good job mixing these two genres.

LUUUV THIIIIIS!!! My favorite is the fifth song at the 12:00 mark, She's Lost Control. The beat of the song matches well with the Peanuts Gang dancing!
It is odd but also glorious just how well the dancing fits with the music and the individuality of the Peanuts crowds approach. For those who used to attend the Mission in Edinburgh will recognise many of these dances and characters. I always remember one girl, dressed in a long gown of black with a black crown of thorns who used to cling to the wall and never spoke to anyone. So many odd but interesting characters!

Whenever i go to see Peter Hook and the Light now he kinda morphs into Pigpen from Peanuts in my mind. Have to shake my head and snap out of it. Brilliantly done guys and girls. Snoopy is amazing on the apparent 2-string lead, but cartoon characters only have three fingers so i suppose it's best he can manage..... love the guy zorching at the back, and the tribute to Ian Curtis's "spaka dance" at front right.
