It's important to keep in mind that before this, they were Joy Division. The core group of them revolutionized popular music TWICE, before they were 30 years old.
One of those heads bobbing to this magical music was mine. To this day, one of the most wonderful concerts of my entire life. You had to be there to believe it.
@@bryankinney1 what can I say, it was indoors, July in Barcelona, it was hot as hell. I had heard of NO, but wasn´t too familiar with their music so had no idea what to expect. I remember I went with my best friend and a couple of guys who were extremely eskeptical about the whole thing, they were classic rock&rollers and to them this music was all " machines, not real instruments". NO started the gig with Your Silent Face, no less and from then on it was simply heavenly, you didn´t know where to look, Hooky was playing the bass like I´ve never seen anyone else do; Steve was an absolute animal at the drums, Gillian was the coolest woman ever and I developed a huge crush on Bernie that I haven´t quite got over yet.Needless to say, the first thing I did after the concert was get hold of their cassettes and Power Corruption and Lies is still one of my top 5 albums ever. As for footage, search for New Order live Barcelona 1984 Estoc de Pop, and you´ll find quite a few videos. There´s also an audio only post which sounds amazing. Enjoy!
@@annamolina3940 Thanks so much for the response, so kind of you. Yes, I have listened to the whole concert - it's incredible, absolutely magical! NO were truly unique and I would give an organ to be able to go back in time and witness it in real life, as you did. Was the crowd as mad into it as you were? Oh 1980s Bernard is hard to get over indeed. They hooked up with lots of groupies at the time, you could have got lucky lol... I only see 4 videos out of that gig - Ceremony, Blue Monday, Hurt and this. If you find any more, could you please send me links?
Bernard: Ok, Steve, I want you to play as fast as you can. Pete, I want you to play the same riff for 5 mins while I sing badly and play the guitar like I've never seen one before.
Wow Best live performance of anything i've heard ever... everything is perfect. The bass sits and grumbles and never stops, drums are seamless as ever, guitar batters you, the synths float along beautifully... Barney's voice is the best i've heard it that early in NO's career... just wow
Not that my comment means anything but for what it's worth I grew up in listening ( dorm mates playing it lol in boarding school) to this but was never into it ( IE I never bought one single cassette, CD etc) but was moved by it. Joy Division, early New Order, and other groups such as the Cure made me feel something I was uncomfortable ( emotional weakness I'll admit it) with in my childhood teens , but I loved those basslines and instrumentals it's just I was trying to be a tough guy although I didn't really succeed at that either lol. Year's later I got reacquainted while living in the America's. One day I was stuck in busy traffic in a Kombi van in Brazil and this came on the radio and blew me away. I spent 4 Year's of my life in Manchester from age 2 and I feel I must have heard JD and NO on radios or car radios too.
Barney was a hottie when he was young. A song that he wrote that showcases his vocal abilities better than most. Hooky is insane and the Other Two are great and cerebral.
Won't you, please, let me go These words lie inside they hurt me so And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you Just what I want to do I'm not the kind that needs to tell you Just what you, want me to I saw you this morning, I thought that you might like to know I received your message in full a few days ago I understood every word that it said And now that I've actually heard it, you're going to regret And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you Just what you want me to You're not the kind that needs to tell me About the birds and the bees Do you find this happens all the time? Crucial point one day becomes a crime And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you Just what I want to do I'm not the kind that needs to tell you I've lost you, I've lost you, I've lost you
About 20 years ago I heard a new order song from an album which sounded like it was written from the point of view of a dog e.g running in the park, I liked the song ,does anyone know what this song was or am I mad ? Thanks guys

Where the hell would music be without them, a lot less appealing... for me definitely.
It's amazing

@@annamolina3940❤❤❤❤ amazing
It's those Bass lines that make this band sound so good.
Drum Machines Can Only Wish They Were As Good As Stephen Morris..
So awesome. No fucking cell phones stuck in the air.

I love for this older footage
Wow

Stephen Morris > Drum Machine
The fastest version of age of consent ever played! Steven played as fast fast as possible and the others kept up! Brilliant version!
JESUS FUCK HOW WERE THEY THIS GOOD LIVE
Absolutely astonishing performance!
Nothing better than live music,
sweet jesus, that snare
so good. i love music with real cohesion.. raw feeling, not overproduced..
Barney was a hottie when he was young. A song that he wrote that showcases his vocal abilities better than most. Hooky is insane and the Other Two are great and cerebral.
That was excellent (for New Order live).
My favorite live rendition of this song by far.
best live version on youtube
Too good for words
So raw, brilliant
The only acceptable version of this song. Also, one of the greatest pieces of music ever performed.
i swear the drummer is a fucken machine.
they were amazing, especially live..
New order , Joy division, Tengo el espiritu pero perdi el sentimiento. Te amo rosmery.
Yeah, Barney's singing isn't too bad here...christ Morris is a machine !
damn stephen works hard
Cheers for uploading this!
Won't you, please, let me go
These words lie inside they hurt me so
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what I want to do
I'm not the kind that needs to tell you
Just what you, want me to
I saw you this morning, I thought that you might like to know
I received your message in full a few days ago
I understood every word that it said
And now that I've actually heard it, you're going to regret
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what you want me to
You're not the kind that needs to tell me
About the birds and the bees
Do you find this happens all the time?
Crucial point one day becomes a crime
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what I want to do
I'm not the kind that needs to tell you
I've lost you, I've lost you, I've lost you
Rare form on Bernard’s part!
great song! thanks!
yeah in an age where you see the emerging use of Drum machines, that drum line is just fantastic, amazing it's not electric or anything
timeless song, christ i broke with my high school g/f to song some 20 something yrs ago
