Damn, the effort of going through all these games twice, capture in the perfect light, and the back and forth at moments where it's specially helpfullike 3:17 and 8:15. It was super helpful, Kevin outdid himself here.
I always suspect many of his videos to be exaggerated lol which I know a few are; and what I mean is that he does at times manipulate the items to produce a more greater difference for results, he’s done it three times with the 3ds and a few times with different seitch accessories to improve their “performance” and yeah lol, would not be surprised if he had lowered the brightness on the old model a little during the side by side, he’s done it a few times before.. Ugh
Is this some sort of joke? You could have put the consoles side by side or on top of each other so they'd both be in the same lighting. And that would make better use of the screen. Why was the camera so far away? The actual Switch screen takes up only a third of what you see. The rest is a table or whatever. This is poorly done.
Idk if it’s worth an upgrade though. This seems like the halfway point between the next Nintendo console. It may be better to wait if you already have one

if I were you I would wait a few months with buying the oled version because oled is prone to burn in especially with games. just wait a few months and spare yourself the dissapointment of burn in

My favorite comparison was Astral Chain, it looks absolutely stunning on the new Switch OLED. Before this video, I can't deny, I was skeptical there was any significant difference between the visual quality, especially since the games would be played on a small screen. But what I noticed from this video is the bezels definitely look a lot smaller on the OLED and the colors are just so much more vibrant. I've never used any OLED products before. I own a PSVITA 2000 model and I think the display looks just fine compared to say the OLED 1000 model (which I ended up not buying). So I was under the assumption that OLED couldn't be that much of an upgrade. Personally I don't own a Switch, but if I had to choose one model it would be the OLED because that screen is undeniably a game changer when it comes to portable play. And the first game series I'd like to try on there is Little Nightmares. I feel the OLED screen, like Astral Chain, would benefit the game a lot.

Yeah I hear a lot of complaints that the Switch isn't 4k....to me personally I'm over the moon about the bigger Oled screen adding a level of premium to the hand-held experience...I have a PS5 and XBSX for 4k👌
Nintendo is doing amazing with HD. & Tbt most people with next gen consoles are still missing the other half to the gaming experience, a gaming TV. Without a 120hz & 2.1 HDMI TV you aren't experiencing what the next gen consoles have to offer.

Thank you so much for this comparison. It's exactly what I was looking for :) I'm playing on the '19 Switch model (Mario 35th Anniversary) and was troubled if i need to update or not. After watching this, I'm 100% certain that I don't need the update yet... I may go for it if my actual Switch is broken (what's probably not gonna happen xD). I do find the lighting and colors on some games better on the non-oled switch than on the OLED, like Links Awakening for example, it looks way more natural to my eye on the non-oled, while the OLED is kinda overexposed. There are also some i can't really see a difference. So yes, I'll stay with the non-oled.
Amazing. The clarity on the OLED is great, you see particles, or shimmers that I had no noticed before. Really good improvement and exceptional video. I will upgrade. I have the original OG launch day switch.
Aside from the screen size and more vibrant colors, the ghosting is more apparent on the original LCD panel as well as the faster response of the OLED, great vid man!
Pokemon sword almost looks the same on both versions, but i can really see the colors pop on botw, smo, and octopath. Shame that u didn't test it on splatoon kevin. All in all spectacular video!

Honestly...I see the color differences which aren't too major..but it's the motion handling for me. The non OLED has always had such a noticeable ghosting effect when dealing with motion. I don't see it on the OLED model... I'm sold.

Almost every smartphone that costs more than $250 these days has an OLED display, so it's quite easy to make a comparison using your phone with your current Switch. OLED is the far superior tech compared to LCDs at this scale. It's like going from the 2010s to the 2020s.

The deep true blacks and the more vibrant color is really apparent in this. Really helps to understand the difference with an oled model but it'll still be better seeing it irl obviously. Also the screen size is a lot bigger than I thought it'd be
I do 100% of my switch gaming on tabletop mode/handheld, and this video convinced me to get the switch oled more than any other video. Colors just pop way more and seem a lot more deep, contrasted, and vibrant. Thanks for putting together this comparison compilation!
Yeah I’m waiting for this too. Hopefully Kevin does a comparison on the battery soon. Nintendo says OLED is the same as V2 but i need to see it to believe it haha
The vibrant colors mode makes Breath of the Wild look less washed out, which is something I didn’t like a lot about it. I played on my TV mostly anyway, and have a dedicated video preset for Breath of the Wild lol. I think fundamentally though, the game just has a foggy filter over it constantly, and it just looks kind of bad. There’s moments when it’s going from day to night, before the moon is fully out, where there’s a lot of contrast and it look amazing. But then the white fog filter comes back (it’s basically on the whole screen, not just the fog you see in the distance)
The games and colors is really a big change and looks smooth and so much more nicer! Sound quality haven't noticed yet so much but for sure is improved. What I like so much is the kickstand behind the switch its the nicest thing ever! Edit: no I don't own one I just have the regular switch but wished I had this oled version xD too expensive sadly lol.

Oh I think Ori would have been a great comparison as well. Lots of darks, beautiful colours and cut scenes that can be synched.
I’ll be turning off vivid mode for my OLED model I prefer accurate colours over eye popping saturation.

I usually watch anime on my LG OLED TV in Vivid mode, standard mode just looks washed out and doesn't pop making everything look very flat.

You can really tell the difference, it’s like night and day with this comparison video. I went in today to pay off my pre order, can’t wait to get my hands on this switch.
Almost every smartphone that costs more than $250 these days has an OLED display, so it's quite easy to make a comparison using your phone with your current Switch. OLED is the far superior tech compared to LCDs at this scale. It's like going from the 2010s to the 2020s.

The deep true blacks and the more vibrant color is really apparent in this. Really helps to understand the difference with an oled model but it'll still be better seeing it irl obviously. Also the screen size is a lot bigger than I thought it'd be

I do 100% of my switch gaming on tabletop mode/handheld, and this video convinced me to get the switch oled more than any other video. Colors just pop way more and seem a lot more deep, contrasted, and vibrant. Thanks for putting together this comparison compilation!
Anyone know the battery life of the OLED vs the V1? I have a V1 and I'm still debating on getting the OLED.
Yeah I’m waiting for this too. Hopefully Kevin does a comparison on the battery soon. Nintendo says OLED is the same as V2 but i need to see it to believe it haha
Ive checked some online sources who state that the switch V1 has a battery life of 2.5 - 6.5 hours while oled has 4.5 - 9 hours
The vibrant colors mode makes Breath of the Wild look less washed out, which is something I didn’t like a lot about it. I played on my TV mostly anyway, and have a dedicated video preset for Breath of the Wild lol. I think fundamentally though, the game just has a foggy filter over it constantly, and it just looks kind of bad. There’s moments when it’s going from day to night, before the moon is fully out, where there’s a lot of contrast and it look amazing. But then the white fog filter comes back (it’s basically on the whole screen, not just the fog you see in the distance)

The games and colors is really a big change and looks smooth and so much more nicer! Sound quality haven't noticed yet so much but for sure is improved. What I like so much is the kickstand behind the switch its the nicest thing ever!
Edit: no I don't own one I just have the regular switch but wished I had this oled version xD too expensive sadly lol.
