Dog training is so interesting! We really have to study our dogs for all the little nuances so we can train them in a way that is best for them. Thank you for all this information!
Agree I wish he'd do more classroom type videos! Like the drive thing I always thought I knew what drives were, then I watched him explain it, and now I see the different behaviour and able to read my dog further.
One of my faviourate topics that doesn't get talked about enough! I see so many trainers struggling to get precise behaviours because they lack proper reward placement.
I don’t know if you ever remember a trainer called Annmarie Silverton she did this type of heeling 25 years ago And she was very successful in AKC obedience
Im in the process (well duh, its forever lol) of training my 10mo Caucasian Shepherd, and your videos are a great help. We work with a trainer, but the added insight of your videos is very helpful. Much appreciated. Working on heel right now and hes doing great. Consistency is the main struggle, as he is brilliant but stubborn.
Great video. Big training scar I have now is the dog focusing on my right side because of the tug always coming from that side. Working on fixing it on now
Very nice, well explained approach. You broke down and taught some fairly complex concepts that can sometimes be confusing to folks. From what I can tell, you are a really good teacher! Thanks!
Very interesting strategy of rewarding your dog and explain why you should think out your training and dry drill it before applying with your dog Thank for sharing your expertise Haz 🤙
Good job explaining the differences between how the reward ahead of time shapes the behaviour vs. the reward after the desired behaviour. Yes, dogs are very attentive and watch carefully especially when it dawns on them that you are the 'boss." Gotta a question: I see your dog is 'real' working line - the jumping up is a characteristic. What do you do with dogs who jump on people because they're excited to see 'any" person and want to get close to their face? Do you only allow your dog to jump up toward you?
I have a Malinois wolf hybrid mix and he is 3 months old and watching your videos has helped me tremendously with his training. I believe his Malinois traits seem to be stronger because he seems to have a need and want for training. He learns so quickly. Thank you for your content.
A wolf mal? Got damn, my man. Haha, git er done! I love seeing interesting (and even foolhardy) dogs being handled by peoppe that know what they're doing.
This was gold I’ve been working on tightening up our heel and getting her to focus upwards. I have been messing up with the reward delivery. Also what collar is that you’re using that stays right behind the ears?
It's funny I once left a comment on a dog trainer's page pointing out the pros of reward placement, and they acted like they hadn't even thought of it. It's just common sense to me. But I guess some people get stuck in the quadrants, thinking reward and punishment can create any behaviour on their own.
Another example. Training your dog to "down" on a line. If you throw the reward forward, the dog will tend to creep forward for reward. If you always throw it behind the dog, they won't creep forward.
I am not a fan of that style of heeling thats why i dont do igp i dont no why they dont like a good close natural heel but direct reward on the artical for me is the one
i have a question, in order to complete BH-VT exam and have a working dog, does the dog have to be separated, not living as a pet , living in a fenced part so he is longing for you and has to have his meals given to him only through training so hes hungry and you can condition him through that feeling of hunger ? Or it is not important to condition this way and you can have him as a pet inside living with you and not condition through meals and separation , but through other means.
I'm no expert, but I spend a good amount if time with them. I've seen some amazing protection dogs come from homes where they live full time as a pet. Is it optimal? I have no idea, but I know it can be done.
The German shepherd I used to have she would always be on my right hand side and I would take her to the front yard so she could run around and play or we would go for a car ride together and she loved doing this thing with me

I learned so much using your video with dizzy. With luring and rewards. These are my favourite types a videos. I used the hand/food method
I don’t know if you ever remember a trainer called Annmarie Silverton she did this type of heeling 25 years ago

Brilliant video, again it reverts back to setting the dog up for success. Thank you!

awesome training session sir,thank you!
I am learning a lot of these videos, but what kind of food are best for rewards? Is it normal food or is it a different types?
your dog just loved the yellow ball, what is it that make the dog likes the ball? Is there a smell or flavor? And it be a tennis ball?

Hi haz I was wondering how I can purchase one of your pups ? I live in California. And how much do they cost? I appreciate it so much.
Perhaps could explain why I often see/hear dog trainers giving commands in English but then switch to giving commands in another language
What shoes are you wearing?
Armpit Delivery System. Made me laugh, but a good idea.

Ahh!! The dog is chewing on the toy.. that's how you get bad grip in bitework and chewed up dumbells 😂

👍
!!!!
Why are these dogs so hyper focused on a ball. What do they get out of it? I can understand if it was food, but a ball.
Excellent as usual! IMO the music is not only not necessary, it distracts...
Sounds like you need some distraction training.
Heh heh
Yeah, that’s one way to look at it 🙄
