There is so much pointless, willfully confused drama in the dog training world, and this video cuts through it with a swift, clean stroke. So on point.
"...if your dog says "No!"😂(11:25) Loving the videos and Haz's sometimes difficult to catch humor and his balanced and sensible approach to training. Just bought his "No Nonsense Dog Training" and beginning to use with 4-month Chi mix.
Great info. Using both sides of reinforcement will create a better dog. Their is only punishment when we want to get rid of a behavior we don't want. There are more positive reinforcement when the pup are young then we add negative to teach them that they need to do that behavior.
Both positive and negative reinforcement increase the likelihood a desirable behavior will be repeated. Negative reinforcement means something is removed. Administering a correction is not an example of negative reinforcement because that’s still adding something (positive reinforcement). An example of negative reinforcement is removing your affection/attention from the dog until they sit and calm down - - something is removed and as a result, it increases the likelihood of the behavior being repeated/strengthened.
Thank you Haz, im getting really tired of these "Balanced Trainers" shaming people or telling people you HAVE to find what motivates your dog. As if all dogs have motivators that we can use to teach behaviors. Sure motivation is great but not everyone has a dog, the skill or the ability to use motivation while training their dog.
There is always something that motivates a dog during training regardless of the person's ability or skills whether it's to release the pressure or it's praise, food, or ball, etc, negative and positive reinforcement are motivators. I haven't seen any balanced trainers "shaming" people about motivators, I've seen the force free community shaming though.
@@cherylmillard2067 I have a disabled client who can't reward their dog with anything other than verbal praise which the dog doesn't care about..we used the ecollar during its B&T and that's the only way my client can control the dog.
I have the very high, drive hyper type of Border Collie, and just using cookies and sweet words. Do not work for him although I cannot come down hard on him and even use a shock collar. He does need the guidance in the correction of what he can and cannot do.

It's a proven fact structure in your life be it a human or a dog leads to a way more happy individual at the end of the day. It's very easy to see those without it .
I mean... Call it what you will. I agree with you but there are 4 quadrants and punishment shouldn't be a dirty word for dog training. Positive is adding something, negative is taking something away. Reinforcement is something you do to increase a behavior. Punishment is something you do to decrease a behavior. Positive reinforcement adds something (treats) to increase a behavior. Positive punishment adds something (prong, stim, leash pop, verbal correction, etc) to decrease a behavior. Negative reinforcement is taking something away (leash pressure, e-collar stim, nagging, etc) to increase a behavior. Negative punishment is taking something away (like putting in time out) to decrease a behavior . All four quadrants can and should be used to create a well rounded dog.
@@CharlieTheCaneCorso it's incredible how easy dog training is but the average dog owner treats it like rocket science. Dogs are incredibly intelligent but we have to talk in their language in order to teach them ours.
But positive reinforcement or negative reinfoecment who craes thats good aversive behaviour or bad aversive behaviour i understand every way i can be aversive to a dog just begin with good averisve behaviour run round this is too simple he made it hard to understand
Nope. A sporting dog is different than a working dog is different than a toy dog etc. Then you add in all the “designer breeds” and mutts. Even dogs from the same litter will respond differently to training. Training is an art done by using science based theory.

Definantly the best dog trainer but not simple for owners with mali or german puppys

What kind of reinforcement would you use if a dog gets nervous in certain situations?
Positive only people running away😅
Chasing after their dog that can't be trusted off leash.
