All that overpriced hardware and still use AI voice to make short video tutorial 😭😭😭
Many companies have the reputation to make bad tutorial videos, but this one is very good. clear explanation and straight to the point
Easy & clear descriptions.Great ASUS support!!
For those who have the light of the flashback who stay on, try to format your usb key with Diskpart.
1) Open cmd as an administrator
2) diskpart
3) list disk
4) select disk (x) x is the number of your usb key
5) clean
6) convert mbr
7) create partition primary
8) select partition 1
9) format fs=fat32 quick
I would just add that if when you do "list disk" if there is an asterisk under Gpt for your usb drive then do a "convert mbr" after step 5.
@@JoshuaMillerisAwesome thanks i edited my message, tho i just tried it now with another motherboard and the light stays on :/

For those who cannot solve the problem with the Solid Green Light and did everything showed in the video. Revise the Drive Partition Format. In the Windows Format Tool it does NOT appear. So, use Diskpart for checking if your Drive is using MBR or GPT format. As you know, for flashing you have to use MBR.

When I run the renamer my file is still named tgx570rw
No .cap in it I am not sure to even try it I don't want to brick the mb
Also did you delete the renamer from the USB or leave it on
Is the only file on the flash drive supposed to be the tgx570rw?
@@jgvtc559 That filename seems like it's already been renamed. The original filename for mine was much longer and has dashes. The renamer shortened it to something like what you mentioned. You could redownload the zip and run the renamer again just to be sure if you want.
Not showing .cap could just mean your windows explorer is set to hide file extensions. If you ran the renamer I wouldn't be worried about it, it should have set the file name correctly. You can also open file properties to check the file type and make sure it's CAP if you want.
You don't need to put the renamer.exe on the USB stick, just the bios file. And yes I would remove all other files from the USB so that there's only the bios file on there

That was a really clean video👍
You can change the filename without the BIOS Renamer program. Make sure your USB Drive has the partition scheme of Master Boot Record and not GUID Partition Map. If it blinks a couple of times, then turns solid blue, then something wasn't set up correctly. If it keeps blinking until it goes out completely, then it worked properly.
That MBR part is really important. Wasted a lot of time trying to make it work on GUID. Thanks.

Hi @Laster
Do you mean if there is no other files in the USB flash drive, the bios update successfully via USB BIOS Flashback?
@@asus_support Wish I could just upload a photo. I'm not a native speaker. Let's assume the USB gets the letter E when connected to a PC. The CAP file, in my experience, needs to be in "E:/", and not in any other path.
Other files and folders didn't bother the BIOS flashback, just the path. My CAP file was in path "E:/עבודה/BIOS" and it didn't work. I copied the file to "E:/" and it worked just fine.
Maybe having Hebrew in the path had something to do with it, on second thought...

Hi, according to your question, please follow step 4 in the following link. Thank you.

Does BIOS flashback recovery work if you interrupted a regular flash mid flash during power loss?
Does BIOS flashback work and restarts correctly if you interrupt the FlashBack operation during the green blinking by removing the USB for example?
I'm not advising to screw around during the process, I just want to know how user proof or event proof the FlashBack option is or if its just a way to flash without turning the PC on. I always thought FlashBack was a disaster recovery option but it might not be.
EDIT: Contacted ASUS, the rep had no idea on the technical side. He said that if the process fails and FlashBack doesnt work i should RMA the board

i've never start the pc ( he has no windows) , everything it's new, for bios it is necessary to take out the ram, ssd and cpu ? or doesn't matter?

Hi John Hauervig Johansen,
Please update to the latest version.
After bios update, turn off the computer to finish the update. If you are experiencing black screen this could be that fast boot is enabled so usb drivers wont recognize and show screen. I have a z690 motherboard that posted once when I installed windows 10 on a drive, but now won’t post. I’ve cleared CMOS. Had the RAM and CPU tested on another board, both worked fine. Tried different CPU and RAM on this board and still won’t post. Im convinced o got a bad board out of the box
Hi Daniel Marroquin,
The BIOS file size will affect the update time. It can be completed in 8 minutes. For no boot, please refer to the following link.

Hey, I'm using the prime x670-p wifi with bios version of 0823 (or something, which is very old). I'm trying to update to 1811 but it refused to. Light stayed solid green. Even though I formatted fat32, MBR. Used exactly same usb stick I previously updated the bios with.
Any solutions? Or is it like I need to install other bios versions first? (according to FAQ Flashback page.

Do you need to remove the cpu or ram for a bios flashback?
Hi Mitch XR,
No, but the cpu and ram is not necessary.
mainboard: TUF GAMING B450M-PRO II
ram: Kıngston Hx432c16pb3/16 16gb Ddr4 3200mhz, Hyperx Predator, Xmp Certified
cpu: amd ryzen7 3800xt
The bios has been successfully updated.
When i start the computer the keyboard's capslock key is working. ctrl+alt+del works but there is no image on the monitor.
Hi Güven Göç,
Was it first built? If it is no image on the monitor, may I know how you check the bios has been successfully updated and the keyboard is working fine?
maybe I didnt find fundamental information or I am taking things too complicated or maybe I am just scared or just trying to solve a situation for where for example a very current cpu/APU is not yet supported by the factory purchase state of the mainboard, thus I am wondering if I can flashback the most current bios to make this cpu/apu work. what is the bare minimum of hardware components needing to go into/onto the mainboard to be able to use the flashback? do I need a/any? cpu plugged in? do I need to plug in any ram/memory into the ddrX slots or anything? can I use flashback just with the power chords attached (atx power), the usb stick and the mainboard itself? I am having trouble with current cpu on asus tuf gaming b550M-E wifi mainboard. thanks for precise answers.
Hi TheNadineOtto,
The motherboard, PSU and a USB flash drive are necessary for USB BIOS Flashback.
I thought I was screwed and had to put my 12700k back in I was upgrading to a i9 13900kf and thought I had bios updated
I have a custom water loop it's a pain to switch everything I first tried bios flash back I couldn't get it to work but found out the USB drive I had was no good only formatted to fat instead of fat 32 I got another one and worked flawless
😊
hello ihave asus tuf b450 pro ll motherboard is it work the same process now?
I got a z70 rog maximus hero kit and it came with a 1 gb usb for flashback purposes. How would I go through the process of updating it to current drivers from another device? Should I transfer it to a bigger usb? Or can I change out files
Hi, according to your question, did you want to update BIOS on Z790 motherboard? Or else?
What files do you want to change?
You need to prepare a USB flash drive with a capacity of 1GB or more to operate USB BIOS Flashback. Thank you.
Can you use BIOS Flashback, even if a pc is fully built? (Cpu installed, graphics card etc)?
I think yes, but if the pc is working fine, I suggest use EZ Flash to update BIOS.

Hi thanks for the video, just to ask on part of the flashback steps on the motherboard, does the processor need to be installed or removed? Another question, does Asus Tuf b550m-plus wifi motherboard needs bios flashback update to pair with ryzen 5 5600g? Thanks again.
Hi Jamzky,
It is not necessary to install CPU while USB BIOS Flashback. If you cannot enter bios utility, please update to bios 1401 or the latest one for ryzen 5 5600g via USB BIOS Flashback.
@@asus_support thank you for the prompt response, but u can also do the flashback with the processor installed?
Hi Jamzky,
Yes, but I would suggest do it without CPU.
Can the bios of B450 MK -II be updated after installing all the components i.e Cpu (Ryzen 5 5000 series) and ram?
Rk Johnson Ningthemcha,
Please verify the stability and compatibility with the CPU/Memory QVL by the following link.

I have baught the Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero and want to use an Intel 14th gen 14900k ... do i have to make a Bios Flashback and does it work without having a CPU?
You only need to connect the power supply to use it, thank you.
Hi i have the x570 crosshair viii hero and after plugging the usb into the bios usb slot and pressing the bios button. It blinks for 3x and would go to a solid blue color. Is the file type incorrect?
Hi
Prince John Dinoro,
Please use a single sector USB flash drive in FAT16 / 32 MBR format.
hi Asus, after installation is complete, should be USB flash disk remove? or keep on there until goes to the windows?
Hi, according to your question, the BIOS file size will affect the update time. It can be completed in 8 minutes.
Please do not remove the USB flash drive, unplug the power supply, turn on the power or press the CLR_CMOS button during the execution.
This will cause the update to be interrupted and the system will not boot.
Wait until the light goes out, indicating that the BIOS updating process is completed.
You can refer to "Q5" in the following link to confirm whether tou update successfully. Thank you.

hi , after updating my motherboard TUF GAMING B450M-PLUS II to the latest version (version 4402), my pc turns on but does not show bios, only gives screen signal when windows starts. when i try to enter the bios it does nothing, only shows black screen without signal, only when windows starts is it giving signal ... what can i do? despite this, the system works stably and all components work without problem.

hello ! query do you have to remove cpu ram and gpu when doing bios flashback?. Thank you.
Hi Mario De vita,
It is not necessary to install cpu, ram and gpu when doing bios flashback.
1. So you do this usb stuff on another computer and then you plug it into the motherboard?
Question 2 do you need windows on the other computer
Hi
Mango BS,
We download the BIOS file, rename the file and copy the file to the USB flash drive from the other windows computer.
When we have to rename the file, do we need to do that process on the same pc we are about to update Bios or can we do it on another pc or laptop and then move on with the pc we want to update? Because now i can’t have access to my pc and that’s why i want to update Bios
If that's the case, I suggest not changing the filename and first verifying if it can be updated successfully. Thank you.
Should I do the bios flashback once the pc is already fully built or before my cpu is installed?
Hi
Syk,
If the pc is working fine, it is not necessary to update bios.
@@asus_support I think this was not his question. He wants to know, if he has to remove the cpu again to do it safely, like if the pc is not booting. Should the CPU be removed or is it safe to let it in?
Hi @@shmtz1
Thank you for your remind. It is not necessary to install CPU for USB BIOS Flashback, although installing CPU is okay.

On my zenith extreme, the light does not flash at all when pressed. I have tried the USB supplied with the original bios cap file and it does work. I have also tried other USB ( fat32 format )with the latest bios on them.
I also have another issue say LED firmware is updating on each boot lasting 2 hours that I was hoping this would fix.
Hi TheAntiProton,
Please set USB flash drive as MBR and then try again. Are you able to enter bios?
@@asus_supportok I will try this tonight. Yes I can enter the bios but only after the aforementioned 2 hour boot time
Hi TheAntiProton,
Have you restored bios to all default settings? If there is still no light when pressed the flashback button, please use EZ flash to update bios.
@@asus_support yes I have tired resetting bios settings as well as using the ez flash in the bios a couple of times. I have had this issue for about 2 months now
Hi TheAntiProton,
If you cannot update bios via EZ flash and USB BIOS Flashback, please send the motherboard to our local service center for further examination. Please visit our official website for contact info of our local service.
Hey so I have a b550-f and it says on the box it’s 3rd generation integrated but it won’t work together w/ my amd 5600x do I need to update bios to most recent to fix the issue of no signal after turning my pc on?
Hi
Carson Smith,
There is no iGPU on amd 5600x. Please use the add-on graphics card or change to the CPU with iGPU.
Hi, I built my pc for first time and assembled it. Powered on to check my fans to make sure not rubbing or anything. I haven’t got my monitor yet. But I did watched your video and it is easy. My mobo is Asus Rog strix B650E-F and using AMD 7800x3d. I did flashback bios update to current version 1807, and green light blinking steady and then light stop blinking. Is that mean I completed my bios updated even though it already assembled?
Wait until the light goes out, indicating that the BIOS updating process is completed.
I have the Z-690A says I need to update Intel ME also before the bios update, so can I just download both onto the usb and they will both update when i use the bios flashback?
Hi, according to your question, Intel ME needs to be executed under the system, BIOS update and ME update are separate and cannot be executed at the same time. Thank you.
Which cables are important when I am doing this? (For x570-e rog strix)

Hi Berkah Aquatic,
May I double confirm you didn't replace now cpu? May I have the bios version? Do you mean you cannot boot into windows and just get the message you mentioned after turn on the pc? Can you enter bios utility?
When done do I remove USB and then turn on computer? Or do turn it on and leave the usb in until I can safely remove inside Windows?
Hi
Seth Gecko,
I think it doesn't matter if the light goes out, indicating that the BIOS updating process is completed.
Hello, in the event that the BIOS flash failed, would I be able to know by looking at the flash pattern/speed? If so what do I need to look for
Hi
oof4dayz,
If the light flashes for five seconds and turns into a solid light, this means that the BIOS FlashBack is not operating properly.
@@asus_support Awesome, thank you so much. Is this indication the same on all boards that have this feature? I have the MAXIMUS VII IMPACT ITX board with the clear cmos button and bios flashback built in.

The indicator would be the same.
hi have a ROG STRIX B550FG motherboard straight out of the box, that won’t give out a monitor signal. i tried to use USB flashback described here to update the BIOS , but the just blinks for 5 seconds and then turns solid indefinitely. i double and triple checked the name after i ran the renamer. the flash drive is formatted to FAT32 but still no luck. what else can i do?

I download the current bios onto flash drive put in and use the flashback get a solid yellow light, tried every solution I can find please help.

I wish Microsoft had Cust Svc phone numbers to call

The latest BIOS version of the ROG STRIX Z690-E GAMING WIFI is 1720, which was released on 2022/8/16, and there's no 1207 version.

Be sure to us USB drive that is 2.0 instead of 3.0, I tried the 3.0 first and didn't work and switched drives and it worked perfectly.
So the USB 2.0 worked for you, but the USB 3.0 didn't? That could explain why the LED doesn't blink for. I tried it with a USB 3.1.
if I update the bios on amd series 5000, can I have everything connected to the motherboard, i.e. the ram processor and the graphics card or do I have to update without these parts on the board itself
Hi, according to your question, you can leave the basic devices on the motherboard such as PSU CPU and GPU. Thank you.
