Hi everyone. I pop them in the airfryer for a few minutes, after soaking, wiping and cutting them. That helps with the slime. 😊

In the Caribbean we cook it with rice and a lot of seasoning. It is so good.
Thank you, I liked the way you have done it..I'm going to do that way...very good 👍
Looks delicioso! I've got most of the ingredients and I love okra!
I had a volunteer sumac pop up in my yard. Next year I will have to net the heads while the berries are still green, because there are creatures...birds? that eat the berries before they become ripe!
Thank you , I enjoy it
Those cut heads i dry them and grind to a powder and use the powder for cooking. I believe in nothing goes to waste.
How do you use in cooking
I usually stew the heads until tender and eat them. I like your idea better 👍🏽
Recycle 😮
Thanks for the recipe! ❤🎉😊
Looks good.
Soaking in a little cold salt water, drain then dry, will help or if you must lemon juice of vinegar. Honestly the fresher they are the less issues you will have. For sure the smooth, greener ones are best, with the snap. It can only go wrong is you mess around, just cut and cook without over working them.
If you are adding liquid like tomato, make sure it is cooked dry before adding you can cook these separately. This will avoid the stewed effect.
Form my understanding Louisiana style "gumbo" they embrace the slime and and make it work, they even substitute with other slime producing veg.
Do add coconut scrapings to it which adds to the taste. Looks delicious.
Nicely explaning sir keep it up❤

Slime in okra can be neutralized by adding soya sauce. After you add the okra 500gms add 1.5 table spoons of soy stir and np more slime. Please try and let me know your results.
Itl b like a Chinese dish
I love okra but I add pole to pole sliced onions only after the slime is gone. Slice in some ripe chunks of tomatoes and a few spoons of Samber powder to finish of he dish … Hevenly 😋😋
I ate so much okra as a kid my socks would not stay up. Fried, Dried, Boiled, Pickled, Stewed - I love okra. You need to try frozen cut okra.
The air fryer gives excellent results

I'll add sambar powder instead of garam masala and sumac. If available, try it once. But don't overdo it.

You can also pop sliced okra into a oven for a few minutes to remove the gooeyness😂
No way you actually got rid of the slime, no wayyyyy i'm trying than kyou
In Greece we eat a lot of okra. There is no need to cut them up, just trim the heads into a little cone shape. This takes some time. Even better is to buy frozen ones. They are already trimmed and are excellent. No need to fry them. Put them in a pan and sprinkle them generously with vinegar. Wait about half an hour. Now add your onions, spices, tomatoes, oil and whatever you like. Cover the pan and cook. There will be no slime. We especially like the very small ones.
I like mine very slimy
MY MUM ALLWAYS ONLY COOKED THEM WITH FISH LOVELY WITH GREEN BANANA AND SWEET POTATOES I LIVE ABROAD NOW BOW ISIANS ALWAYS HAVE THEM IN THEIR SHOPS AND THE LEAVES ARE USED FOR WASHING YOUR HAIR NO CHEMICALS SAFE AND KEEPS THE HAIR LOVELY

Thank you bhai!!
My Mother - in The Middle East - used the SMALLER okra, TRIMMED the stem, but did not cut the okra open! Then she washed and DRIED THEM, in one layer, sometimes in the sun...
Then she fried them whole in little oil, till they were light-brown and crispy... no GOO anymore. The okra then was cooked in a TOMATO SAUCE that started with fried onion - rather crispy - and garlic...
I love okra that way, on some basmati rice...
I use FROZEN OKRA, and I dry it well, then ROAST IT in the OVEN - even countertop-oven is sufficient! I bet an air-fryer will do a great job - but I don't own one!
That sounds delicious , I must try making it this way. Thank you
