Hey guys, this is my mom Germaine. In this video we give a quick update on her 7 month Microlocs journey. This video was recorded about three weeks ago so my mom is almost 8 months locked now.

I was hooked from the first video when you explained in great detail how to do your Mom’s hair. I have just one kid, a boy who just turned 18. I have to say, I’ve never wanted a daughter until I say your beautiful, articulate, respectful girl. Mum, you’ve raised a child other people can enjoy. Congratulations!

Aunts G, your hair looks beautiful, your daughter has done a great job with your hair. Even though your hair has shrunken, it has shaped itself into a lovely bob. With regards to the itching after retightening, I believe it is caused by our hair rubbing against our scalp. I retighten my own hair, when I retighten I always stop at the last rotation. As a result I have not experienced itching or tender scalp. Maybe you should try it and see if it help reduce your symptoms. Great job Katya 😍👌🏿👏🏿👏🏿👸🏾
She really is not a fan of the shrinkage but I tell her the same thing. Her hair has shaped itself beautifully. And thank you for letting me know. I will definitely try that. It happens to me as well.

Your mum is GORGEOUS! And when she smiles her face just lights up!! The apple don't fall too far from the tree either. I can't place her accent. Where is your mum from?
First, let me help you with a few things. STOP the water in your hair that is where your dry itchy scalp is coming from, also your locs only need to be ashed once a month. the shampoos and conditioners that you are using are not made for our hair, therefore your stripping our natural oils out, which is the opposite of having locs is about. please try these and not only will see the thickness, but also the length, luster and natural shine. Rasta Jamaican mango and lime protein shampoo and conditioner 16 fl oz bottles, cost t eight a bottle. Lastly tropical roots Jamaican black castor oil with rosemary, and growth and shine oil. you will see and feel the difference instantly, Good luck Yvette
I love your update, Mums hair is beautiful! Yours is also.. You were so brave to do you both. I've installed a few and then took them out! They weren't smooth, maybe I didnt follow the same pattern each time and messed it up. Once you get to the very last one, near the scalp, which way did you want the last rotation to go? Such beautiful ladies you are!!
Thank you :) You are right. If you are using different patterns on the same loc it will turn out being bumpy so find the one that'll work with your hair texture and stick to it. To answer your question, I always end the rotation whichever way I want the hair to lay.

I totally understand that. It's no offense at all. My mom is West African. She is Ghanaian and Togolese. I've never heard anyone say she looks East African. I will tell her that lol

To be honest I'm a bit OCD with the parting. That's probably why retightening takes so long because I spend so much time trying to make the lines perfect. I'm trying to get better at not doing that so much lol

Your moms hair has thickened up very nicely. I'm so excited , my micro loc installation is coming up in a few days on the 15th and 16th. My hair is long and really thick like your moms. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for shrinkage. Oh yeah I really like that song in the background.
