I hope you do a side-by-side comparison of the CMMG Dissent, the SIG MCX, the PSA JAKL, and Brownell's BRN-180. I'd especially like to get a look at the difference between the operating systems.
I second this. The bufferless revolution has been extremely interesting to watch. If only we could get a bullpup lower for all of these AR pattern uppers.
I’m still running traditional buffering systems on my AR’s but I’ve come to believe that for the most part these days there is really zero reason to continue with them. The stock/brace should be able to fold , fire while folded.
My CMMG Banshee 9mm is awesome, so much fun to shoot, it's by far my favorite gun for up to 100y. Beyond that I'll opt for a Resolute. I don't only own CMMG guns but the two I have are excellent.
I was bummed when I saw they’re $2,000. They’re barely a bargain compared to Sig. It takes less material than a rifle, and has a standard AR lower. They should sell them for $1,2-$1,500 max or at least offer to buy just the upper.
I got one in .300blk and I absolutely love it, that’s clearly the best caliber choice of the three offered. However personally I still prefer my MCX Rattler build in .300blk a little more tho. Simply for the way it feels and operates. Both are great pdw/close range pistol/rifles that anyone should be happy with.
With that weapon being suppressed, was there a reason for wearing hearing protection?? How well does it suppress the sound?? Or was it just the suppressor, didn’t suppress the sound as well as other suppressors?
Don’t know about the rattler killer part. CMMG makes awesome stuff, very quality stuff. The dissent absolutely kills the psa jackal. But in my opinion, it is a more cost effective alternative to the rattler.
My problem is $1480 entry level for just an upper....$2300+ for full gun. Sig mpx prices. I'm good. I just took my car, cut the bolt in half, modified the gas key to accept 1/4 inch cold steel rolled rod, held in by two set screws threaded into the rod and staked. Fn fal piston, hole drilled opposite piston end for 1/4 rod, tapped, staked. An inch behind the piston head a nut was pinned to the 1/4 inch rod that a soring impinges on, pushing the piston forward to rest in the housing and pulling/keeping bolt in battery (the recoil spring) and at the other end of the spring, it rest against a metal plate just in front of the hole in the upper for the gas tube, the plate is held on by the barrel nut. The hole in the upper was opened up for a brass bushing from Lowe's, the inside of which is 1/4. An fn fal piston housing was cut up and bastardized, drilled and tapped for a set screw to adjust gas flow. There is also a system for attaching bare buffer weights to the rod to tune the action, but it wasn't needed. The adjustable gas block allowed me to tune it just fine with the half mass bolt. Or really, .75% mass because the piston and rod etc. the entire upper cost me under $200.....and some time. F uck $1450. I'm working on a gas operated piston driven 9mm that's bufferless as well at the moment. Alot more design challenges...
I want the CMMG Banshee in 5.7 x 28!!!! But the Dissent is pretty cool too. We have a CMMG AR-15, with all new parts, but I don’t know her name…..hubby would though!
About time CMMG modernized their designs! For the longest time, it was the highest priced outdated keymod equipped basic entry-level-looking AR platform, but now, looks like they are with the times! Competitive design, and modern style, and lighter weight DI than competitors piston operation.
CMMG is a great up and coming company in the budget friendly arena I know the msrp on this thing is around $2k but MCX killer?😅😂 not even close I would consider it more of a Jakl competitor
With a 1/7 twist barrel… why aren’t manufacturers making the 1/5 twist on these guns to help stabilize subsonic rounds better and although a little asking put more energy on target
Honestly it comes down to ammo and how each gun is tuned. The dissent is a bit lighter so I guess it recoils more... maybe. But 300 subs it is hard to notice tiny amounts of difference. Also on the dissent where you mount a stock has alot todo with muzzle rise.
I dont see how it could be the SIg MCX Killer. considering it is around the same price. from my understanding if it is to be a particular firearms killer, it would have to be half the cost.
Rattler is a proven reliable combat rated machine while the cmmg is almost the same price and no reputation, if it was cheaper it would be much more of a bargain
Sorry, but I own 2 CMMG rifles and while I like them, they aren’t what I would consider duty grade. The dissent isn’t comparable to the MCX or Rattler which I also have several of.
I will never understand the point of 300blk when 762x39 exists on both AK and AR platforms. I feel like if it was worth it then AK manufacturers would make 300blk AK’s
whole purpose of the 300 blk vs 7.62x39mm=SUPPRESSION! it’s quieter and ballistics are very similar and very reliable in the AR platform. Also, 300 blk is great in short barrels

You make it sound easy
Imagine buying a gun that doesn't utilize a buffer tube and yet you choose a buffer tube for your brace 🤣
Thank the atf for that, otherwise he would have a damn stock that's made for pic rails
He could use the jmac customs ST6 skeletonized adapter. I have one for my AK. Can still use most AR stocks.
